  • Same day out as first video, but at a camera angle that shows more of the sail, and less of the boat. I bear away on the starboard tack to go around a patch of kelp. Later in the sail while on a broad reach I ran smack into some kelp I didn't see, and it was like slamming on the brakes. Pulled the board to get free.
descripition from the first video: Sailing my Goat Island Skiff in twelve knots, no reef, and local ocean wind waves mixed with a small ocean ground swell. This video shows how well the GIS performs in smaller waves and that the higher freeboard and hull shape do a good job of keeping it dry as well. Tough way to spend a weekend afternoon! Shot with a short transom mounted camera boom slightly elevated, and a Nikon AW100. The Goat Island Skiff uses a balanced lug rig, and was designed by Michael Storer.
