Very good explanation. A waterproof grease applied to the contact surfaces of both boots helps prevent water and other contanimants from intruding. The final drive fill plug is a hex not a torx. Using a torx tool could eventually strip the head. Hint: using a torque wrench for tightening all bolts gives one peice of mind and prevents stripping of threads or breakage. Great video!

Great video. Especially of the front spline-boot replacement, some I've looked for for quite a while!

Great video. Suggest using a molybdenum based paste for the splines not just any grease. Could void your warranty. Great video for adding how to servicing the forward spline - most people miss that and just do the back. Also torque the paralever bolt to 56 nm with loctite applied. Thank you.

BMW tech said every 2 years. Mine was done on 4th season, and it needed grease. No damage observed. Lucky. I don't know what this job is not a part of regular service intervals.

Was soll das Video jetzt zeigen wenn es mir langweilig ist suche ich mir Arbeit? Baue die Kardanwelle aus schaue sie mir an und baue sie wieder ein? Good Job!

Another option is to pay a BMW tech to do the job for about $60. This way you know the job is covered by warrantee, and done correctly.

I had them do it on my 2019 (at that time 30.000 km) while they replaced my tire and the wheel was off anyway. It was also a bit rusty, so glad I had it done. In denmark i payid 450 ddk ( aprox 68 usS) for that ekstra job. And no worries with the rest off 2 years off warranty (We get 5 years in Denmark). But anyway, very wird that its not under maintaine.
      Danny.
