I have tried all the methods but no avail with them. On Big Sur I have a Saffire pro 40 and it works and firewire connect only once you launch the 3.9 pkg. At reboot, I have no connection again. One thing work: the manual loading of the kext with the line: sudo /usr/bin/kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/Saffire.kext. I create an executable sh file, open with terminal shell as default. Created an automator app and added to the login startup list. I just need to insert the password for the sudo command. It is a bit tricky but it works

Hello everyone - Just upgraded to Big SUR and just could not get the Saffire Pro 40 to work until I realised the following: after you install the latest 3.9 driver - you have to go to the Settings > Security & Privacy > and at the bottom there will be an "allow" button. You have to make sure that "TC TECHNOLOGIES" is allowed. It will ask you to restart and TADAAAAA !!!! FW light is back On and Saffire is working !!!!!

I just had this problem and had to solve it by erasing the text file and directories completely before I tried a fresh install of the 3.9 version drivers. You can find the ocation of the text file in another comment on this video.

I have the Saffire PRO 24 and what is happening is that every time I turn on my mac only the power and LKD less turn on but not the FW (Firewire) When i reinstall the mix control app after doing the "updating the reboot volume" the FW led turns on, but when I try to restar the Mac the problems appears again. Hopefully someone could help me. Thanks!
One question, the Mac has given you a Kernel Panic warning or your computer has restarted with the Mac Osx Monterey operating system and the Focusrite card, because I was in Catalina, I updated to Big Sur and the Kernel panic errors started, so In fact, it turned off the Mac and it turned on by itself after 10 seconds and I think it was due to the incompatibility of the Saffire Liquid 56 with Big Sur, thank you very much for your response!
Nothing but props for you, but it would have been nice if Focusrite, knowing this is now an issue, would have sent out an email to all customers using Saffire hardware with a description of the fix! Thank you for making this video! Focusrite should put you on their payroll.
I just bought the Clarett .. had my M1 for a couple of years now and I'm having this problem. I'm actually pretty angry about it and I'm probably going to send it back to Sweetwater. It's always something with these interfaces. Also stay away from those SSL 2 interfaces everyone on the net is hyping up. They're garbage .. I bought the Clarett when that piece of plastic garbage failed and now I'm dealing with this. I'm fed up with this. Seriously.

Hello, I'm trying to connect my old Liquid Saphire to a USB 3.0 adapter and what I get is my pc not turning on. Ringing any bells anybody? I'm aware it might be happening because I'm using the adapter. Had to try anyway, my old system with firewire PCI died 2 years ago :(
If you click on the lock at the bottom right of the Privacy & Security panel it makes a list of the blocked system extensions available and you can then allow TC Technologies.

@@Jerbetteproductions1 It wasn't in the video, but it was Samuel Charles' comment that set me straight. I'm on Apple. Not sure how that affects your endeavor. After I installed the drivers (y'know, when your computer asks if you want to trust the install and you assume giving permission gives permission...) and with the Saffire connected and on I still got the 'No hardware' message until I found and followed Mr. Charles' advice. It was the fix I needed. Hope this clears something up. Frustrating, I know, to have this unit and not be able to use it. Also, make sure you have Mix Control installed and open or you won't get very far when time comes to use the Saffire. At least that's my limited experience so far. Best of fortune to ye!
Good evening, I have focusrite dsp 24 vrm. This week I updated to the Mac version Big Sur. The sound card turns on but does not produce any audio on TH-cam, Abelton Live or iTunes. If you can help I can record the audio with a microphone inside Ableton Live but I can't hear it with the sound card connected focus rite dsp 24. Big hug from Portugal. I've already done all these steps in the video. The last version I made is not supported after Catalina. when I was using Catalina. Same sound card was working fine. but at this moment ableton live 12 is not possible without big sur other VST. if anyone can help me

So, of course I come to this video after my Pro 40 just went kaput-no signs of life from it besides there being power. The "FireWire Active" LED doesn't even light up despite FireWire being connected. I've tried this on THREE DIFFERENT COMPUTERS, and all of them have the same issue. Just out of the blue stopped working completely. I did absolutely nothing to make it not work. Any ideas?
I had this SAME issue. no mic detected. I uploaded and deleted all of my software, pro tools, albeton, etc many times, I fought with London england for making a piece of crap and NOW, I pushed the button 48 v right beside the mic and I got sound. DOn't buy this companies interface, the reason mine stopped working was because I watched some movie that wanted to silence my mic; never again, PUSh the 48 v button by your mic. that is what fixed mine.
For those who couldn't see the "allow" button: Launch your terminal, and enter the following: sudo spctl --master-disable This will provide you henceforth the ability to install untrusted app (read: not notarized by Apple) from any source. (Running sudo spctl --master-enable will reverse the process.) So you don't have to try to get the allow button for 4764823 times and it works just fine. Note: I'm using MacOS Monterey (Intel). Focusrite Saffire Pro 40.
payed a shit ton of money for a saffire pro 40 -7 years ago and now they quit updating their firewire products as of june of 2019 and now i have to upgrade to something else newer. so basically what focusrite is saying is after 5-7 years they won't keep up the products they made. you apple users are safe though this is just for pc windows users.
I am also using the Saffire Pro40 on Monterey. My problem is that it works only once, if I turn it on after the boot. If I turn it off and then back on, I can't hear any of the computer sound through the speakers. Saffire MixControl shows it and the inputs still give sound, but not the computer. Have you ever experienced this? And if so, do you have a fix for that? Also, if I leave it on between boots, it doesn't work...
I actually got it to work with Monterey!!!! It’s wasn’t popping in security when doing the install but there was something about allowing extensions when I was going through the tabs in privacy and security, can’t remember exactly cause it rebooted but holy fuck man thought I was gonna have to buy a new sound card.

It work on Big Sur and Monterey, but when I open a project with a different sample rate my device is lost. When I restart it comes back! Also when I change sample rate in Mix Control the device is gone. Any ideas on this issue? It is my last hope before I go buy the Scarlett interface.

Focusrite has said that from Big Sur on the Saffire firewire lines will no longer be supported and they are no longer updating the drivers to work with new operating systems (same goes with Windows 11).

maybe you have to downgrade to catalina. that's the latest macos version that had the last update pkg for the saffire. which mac do u have? i'm trying to do it on my m2, but i dont think ill be able to install the catalina, ill have to get an older version in order to work

Just found this vid. Was very hopeful! But alas, it hasn't changed (on Catalina). We keep reinstalling the drivers and after a reboot it's the same, no hardware detected.... We don't see the "allow" appear either in security and privacy settings. Keep going in loops it's sp frustrating. No idea what to do next.
You try Reset NVRAM on your mac. I used Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2026) after reinstaling mix control 3.9.dmg and allow TC technologies (help me reset NVRAM), doesn't work FW light on saffire 24 DSP (mac 2013 late), help me anyone.. adapter tb > 400 fw is detect , and chipset firewire 800 Mb/sek too, but device, not detect... I actually was using an Intel Mac and not the M1, so everything worked out for me on Big Sur on Intel but it seems like it doesn't on M1. Have you gotten any further with it?
Can You Help? Wirth configuration difficult to understand. Because You can Test a specific configuration. I ușe Windows intermediate andy like zi Connect it with Davinci resolve blackmagic design. The DAW îs fairlight. Davinci Resolve îs free to ușe.
Magic. I just double-checked that MacOS is allowed to install the software from untrusted developers and-just to be on the safe side-opened the installer using the Open command after right-clicking the .pkg. Saffire Liquid 56 was connected the whole time via Firewire to my Late 2013 Mac Pro. After a clean reinstall and making sure the untrusted developers' apps can be installed, the FW Active light went on after the restart and the interface appeared in my DAW settings. LAter I tried to open the Mix Control app and it worked. Thank you very much for the great simple tip, brother!
I had a “thunderbolt not connected” issue that mysteriously appeared yesterday while I was running iOS Ventura 13.5. Don’t know why that happened. Now installed Sonoma 14.0 to see if that may have been needed but the Network setting reads the same. I could really use your expert help with this matter

And regarding Focusrite website, all Saffire products: "In 2019, after providing a final update to Saffire Mix Control, we publicly announced the end of any further development support for the Saffire Range". Hey man. I have a saffire pro 56 that I want to use in standalone mode through a newer, smaller USB interface that's Mac M1 compatible. The 56 isn't compatible with M1 at all (even if you get all the correct cables / converters). My question is, can I force it into ADAT / standalone mode without the being connected to the computer?

Pro40 still not working (on 2017 mbp Big Sur 11.6) 😕. I also can't get the "Allow" button to show up in Preferences, even Focusrite's suggestion to create another Admin profile & install it there didn't work. I also used Terminal command (idea floating around) to change the "Allow apps downloaded from:" Preference to "Anywhere" (to avoid any Extension blocking at all). But Pro40 still shows up fine on my 2012 MacMini (running same Big Sur 11.6). Anyone know if I can copy any files from my MacMini to try in the MBP? Thanks for the vid.
My Saffire Pro 24 was working fine until today. I happened to notice I didn't have all three green lights on (none, in fact). I tried powering it down and on again. Tried updating the drivers. Tried unplugging the power as well as firewire. Finally I pressed the 48V button and got a red light there. That's it at this point. I might look for another Firewire 400 to 800 cable this week to see if maybe it's just the cable... Assuming those still exist (according to Best Buy, they appear to have one). This cable is old. I mean, I got it in 2009 when I bought my last MBP, which had a Firewire 800 input, much to my annoyance (finding such a brand new cable where I lived required a specialty store ordering one). I guess you could say this cable has paid for itself. It's not a priority, but the unit should still be good...
Hi After updating the drivers in the saffire pro 24 dsp(, the computer stopped connecting to the interface. Power and LKD LEDs light up, FW is off. High Sierra 10.13.6 system. FireWire connector sees saffire in computer but doesn't connect. Please help

When I plug it in for monitoring, it’s only mono rather than stereo (I think it’s not because of the setting of mix control), some say it’s the 6.35mm adapter , does anyone know how to fix it so I can do mixing in stereo with my headphone ? On a PC, you might need to look for the legacy version of the firewire driver. If I'm not mistaken, focusrite has that link on their support page with the Mix Control downloads. If not, you can probably do a search for legacy firewire driver. Then once it is downloaded and on your PC, you have to go to device manager...find the IEEE 1394 Host Controller on the list. Now double click it...second tab says 'driver'. Choose the 'update driver' tab...then choose 'browse my computer for drivers'. Then find the installer in your downloads (or wherever you saved it to) then open it and follow the instructions. I can't remember what all it asks you, but basically your overriding the driver that last came with a firewire update from windows. I'm pretty sure there are videos or articales about how to do this because I know I learned it from somewhere. As I'm not smart enough to have figured it out on my own. lol. Good luck.

Hi! Had the same issue, managed to solve it by simply not rebooting the computer after the install. You need to force quit the installer.
Hopefully that does it!

Don't work on mine. I did as u show l got new updating osx :( FireWire plugged from my cinema display but don't work it's say no hardware connected

what osx are you on? I'm on montery and not seeing the TC Technologies.. The lock is on the left side for me. What tab do I find TC Technologies?

@@JasperLevi yeah unfortunately it happened again, guess I can’t turn it off anymore. To get working I had to reinstall it again to allow those extensions. Is there a way we can unblock it without having to reinstall?
It work on Big Sur and Monterey, but when I open a project with a different sample rate my device is lost. When I restart it comes back! Also when I change sample rate in Mix Control the device is gone. Any ideas on this issue? It is my last hope before I go buy the Scarlett interface.

Hey, man, thanks for the video! Just upgraded to Big Sur and my Saffire Pro 40 has no sound. Saffire Mix Control (3.9) sees it, the card is connected and locked, but no sound at all. Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks.
Focusrite has said that from Big Sur on the Saffire firewire lines will no longer be supported and they are no longer updating the drivers to work with new operating systems (same goes with Windows 11).

If you have Thunderbolt 3 like I do then you need 2 apple adapters. 1 is FireWire to thunderbolt then thunderbolt to thunderbolt 3.

maybe you have to downgrade to catalina. that's the latest macos version that had the last update pkg for the saffire. which mac do u have? i'm trying to do it on my m2, but i dont think ill be able to install the catalina, ill have to get an older version in order to work

Just found this vid. Was very hopeful! But alas, it hasn't changed (on Catalina). We keep reinstalling the drivers and after a reboot it's the same, no hardware detected.... We don't see the "allow" appear either in security and privacy settings. Keep going in loops it's sp frustrating. No idea what to do next.
You try Reset NVRAM on your mac. I used Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2026) after reinstaling mix control 3.9.dmg and allow TC technologies (help me reset NVRAM), doesn't work FW light on saffire 24 DSP (mac 2013 late), help me anyone.. adapter tb > 400 fw is detect , and chipset firewire 800 Mb/sek too, but device, not detect... I actually was using an Intel Mac and not the M1, so everything worked out for me on Big Sur on Intel but it seems like it doesn't on M1. Have you gotten any further with it?

Magic. I just double-checked that MacOS is allowed to install the software from untrusted developers and-just to be on the safe side-opened the installer using the Open command after right-clicking the .pkg. Saffire Liquid 56 was connected the whole time via Firewire to my Late 2013 Mac Pro. After a clean reinstall and making sure the untrusted developers' apps can be installed, the FW Active light went on after the restart and the interface appeared in my DAW settings. LAter I tried to open the Mix Control app and it worked.

I had a “thunderbolt not connected” issue that mysteriously appeared yesterday while I was running iOS Ventura 13.5. Don’t know why that happened. Now installed Sonoma 14.0 to see if that may have been needed but the Network setting reads the same. I could really use your expert help with this matter

Seems that it's not going to work anymore with Ventura 😓 take a look into compatibility-list for Saffire FireWire Range before updating. If anybody knows if it works, let me know please.

Hey man. I have a saffire pro 56 that I want to use in standalone mode through a newer, smaller USB interface that's Mac M1 compatible. The 56 isn't compatible with M1 at all (even if you get all the correct cables / converters). My question is, can I force it into ADAT / standalone mode without the being connected to the computer?

If you don’t plan on upgrading your computer to the latest M1 chip from apple then I would say it’s still a great interface!

Pro40 still not working (on 2017 mbp Big Sur 11.6) 😕. I also can't get the "Allow" button to show up in Preferences, even Focusrite's suggestion to create another Admin profile & install it there didn't work.
I also used Terminal command (idea floating around) to change the "Allow apps downloaded from:" Preference to "Anywhere" (to avoid any Extension blocking at all).
But Pro40 still shows up fine on my 2012 MacMini (running same Big Sur 11.6). Anyone know if I can copy any files from my MacMini to try in the MBP?

My Saffire Pro 24 was working fine until today. I happened to notice I didn't have all three green lights on (none, in fact). I tried powering it down and on again. Tried updating the drivers. Tried unplugging the power as well as firewire. Finally I pressed the 48V button and got a red light there. That's it at this point. I might look for another Firewire 400 to 800 cable this week to see if maybe it's just the cable... Assuming those still exist (according to Best Buy, they appear to have one). This cable is old. I mean, I got it in 2009 when I bought my last MBP, which had a Firewire 800 input, much to my annoyance (finding such a brand new cable where I lived required a specialty store ordering one). I guess you could say this cable has paid for itself. It's not a priority, but the unit should still be good...

After updating the drivers in the saffire pro 24 dsp(, the computer stopped connecting to the interface. Power and LKD LEDs light up, FW is off. High Sierra 10.13.6 system. FireWire connector sees saffire in computer but doesn't connect.

When I plug it in for monitoring, it’s only mono rather than stereo (I think it’s not because of the setting of mix control), some say it’s the 6.35mm adapter , does anyone know how to fix it so I can do mixing in stereo with my headphone ? I would imagine this is something you will have to sort in the MixControl software. Make sure the headphone routing is L and R and you should be good.

On a PC, you might need to look for the legacy version of the firewire driver. If I'm not mistaken, focusrite has that link on their support page with the Mix Control downloads. If not, you can probably do a search for legacy firewire driver. Then once it is downloaded and on your PC, you have to go to device manager...find the IEEE 1394 Host Controller on the list. Now double click it...second tab says 'driver'. Choose the 'update driver' tab...then choose 'browse my computer for drivers'. Then find the installer in your downloads (or wherever you saved it to) then open it and follow the instructions. I can't remember what all it asks you, but basically your overriding the driver that last came with a firewire update from windows. I'm pretty sure there are videos or articales about how to do this because I know I learned it from somewhere. As I'm not smart enough to have figured it out on my own. lol. Good luck.
