I have monterey in my macbookpro and install this drivers but dont still work fine it recognise the interface but dont sound. Are you resolve this fix?

Can the Clarrett be the main interface?

Saffire and Air ON sound the same to me, both bright. With Air off, Clarett is def warmer and I agree kick and floor toms are the ones to use.

I'm running a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Sonoma 14.1 and still have the Saffire PRO 24 DSP and all the original adapters. I tried all that was described here. Saffire pops up under System FireWire but when I open MixControl "No Hardware Connected". Reinstalled, had System preferences security and privacy open but no pop up while reinstalling - did it twice. Mh... I'm a bit lost. If it won't work well then I might need a new external soundcard but yah would be great to still use the old one. If anyone got it to work? Pls let me know. :)

Very close sounds with both methods. I could hear more snare response, slightly more ride wash, (but still stick definition) with both capsules point towards the snare. As far as the toms, I couldn’t really distinguish a difference, but I think you had some background music playing at this point, so it made it harder to hear. Alone, for me it's the 91A and DM6. DM6 is probably the most "ready to go."

Hi Bob. Jim from Glasgow here. I’ve just purchased a Roland SPD-SX PRO & I’m trying to learn GarageBand in order to record midi & audio drums on my MacBook Pro & iPad. Can you please do an instructional video on how to do this, especially for beginners & include how to use drum sounds from Toontrack or Superior Drummer etc? Or, share a link to any existing videos, as I can’t seem to find any specific to my basic needs. Many thanks in anticipation! 🥁

I love the dm6. I used a Beyer M88 for years (and still love it, though it won’t last forever being used on kicks) and had hoped the SR20LS in my earthworks kit would be a good substitute. The kit is great, but the SR20LS is kind of a dud as a kick mic. It does, however, make a great floor tom mic at a 45 degree axis! The DM6 now makes the whole earthworks kit complete!

Thank you. I have a m-Audio Profire2626 and two focusrite octo pre MKII. Connected the ADAT correctly, but I get a crackling sound on my second focusrite when I record. It does record, but there is a crackling sound. Have you any idea what might be causing this?

Cool. This method can be used too, to overcome limitation in live drum record, like when we have less input channel on the Audio Interface we used, as long as it can record the MIDI Data, it can be covered enough and later can be edited and mixed with the recorded audio, perhaps using some sample audio etc. Thanks.

Thanks for the help Bob! Why is my MIDI behind my audio track? I've turned on low latency monitoring mode but it hasn't solved the issues. I'm using the same gear and DAW as Bob.

The 98 to me has a little more focus on the transient where it's very pronounced and punchy while the dm20 has a more extended high end. Personally, knowing my mixing, a 98 with an exciter would be better than a dm20 with an eq band trying to find the attack.

I personally think the shure gives you a better sound of the actual floor tom and its resonance while the E.W gives you more of just the drum stick hitting the drumhead

hi i do like adat in the past i had 4x m-audio delta x 44 so i got 16 channels note it was not for making music if i needed to analog sound from say spot on line i could fill all the tracks on my computer and play all 16 tracks in and out not a have some ace reel to reel deck studio ones just love the sound of the soundcraft 760 decks adat is a right pain all that rew of the tapes after you have recorded the tracks using reel to reel has that sound to it the new reel to reel logic is not as good

will this work with windows?

Focusrite says the latest driver (3.9) for Saffire is compatible up to Catalina. I upgraded to Monterey from a clean install on Mac, and I don't trust installing drivers that can make the system unstable.

*Update I finally sold this iPad in July 2024 after using it for 8.5 years! It was fully supported until iPadOS 17 where it was stuck on iPadOS 16. I picked up the new 13" iPad Air which is very similar to this iPad in a new design. Let me know if you'd like to see a video on that!

Is there some technical reason I can't use the USB MIDI interface instead of the MIDI to USB converter? The UM1 is unreliable and mine doesn't seem to be recognized by any device I use. Currently, the SPD SX and forscore are successfully communicating - I set up the page turn triggers just by tapping the pads and it went through. When I go to turn pages though, it doesn't work. Anyone else encounter this?

How do you get your Toms to sound that warm and no ring? I dig the sound and want to tune my Tom’s to sound like that. Thanks for any help.

I just had this problem and had to solve it by erasing the text file and directories completely before I tried a fresh install of the 3.9 version drivers. You can find the ocation of the text file in another comment on this video.

I had both of these for awhile and the DM20s had a more pronounced transient, but had MUCH nastier cymbal bleed, and sounded a lot thinner than the Beta 98s. And the clips on the 98 are just better in every way. The DM20s are a more natural, uncolored sound, which is definitely not what I want. Thats also the reason why so many drum shops use DM20s, is so you can hear the uncolored sound of the drums that they're demo-ing

So for the upgrade price you get a little top end EQ boost with the "Air" setting & USB..... Don't waste your money if you can still use firewire.

Hello, How would I daisy chain 3 interfaces?? Im using a focusrite 1st gen and its a slave to the UMC1820. Connected via ADAT. Now, my question is, I bought a ADA8200 because I want to leave my drums and synths ready to record all the time so I need more than 16 channels. Can I link the ADA to the UMC1820, that is linked to the FR 18i20???? do I need both ADAT cables connected from the UMC to the FR? if I leave as it is, I have no free ADAT in and out! How can I work around this!? I see no one asking this on other forums or comments. Im at a loss. It seems people are not connecting more than 2 interfaces or not needing more than 16 inputs or they spend 3k on an interface, which I cant do. How do I get what I have to get me to 24 inputs!? I was looking at some RME products and came across the RME Digiface USB which seems to be what would work for me? but its 400$......f** that.............

what about OS High Sierra? I have tried the method above but it is not connected. I feel like I haven't missed any steps. The sound card light is still on, but not connected to the MacBook Pro..

Hi, I tried this method using ESI Midimate eX cable from SPD-SX to iPad (forscore) and it looked to be working as in forscore was receiving midi notes for previous page and next page commands. But when I strike the pads it doesn't work. Also, when I reset the midi controls and select the same pad again to trigger pervious or next page commands the midi note is a different note/value each time I redo this...

DM20? May I ask if you can do it on snare top and bottom? if it is good because I saw it on TB waiting room he use that mic for top and bottom. Can't find any videos on it Thanks.
