I love how you explain to not overmoisturize, but specifically not moisturizing all the time because I feel like moisturizing too often can cause as many problems as actually putting too much on. I made the mistake of moisturizing too often and got a very slight infection. Not enough to ooze, but just be really red and angry for a few days. I think the thing that saved the tattoo was letting it dry out for a couple days. It now looks amazing with very minimal ink loss. So part of me believes that a combo of wet heal and dry heal works best for some people.
Very true. Better to have a little moisturizer on than too much. I also wash and moisturize my new tattoo at least twice a day. I’ve seen some instructions that say 3-5 times a day. That seems excessive to me.
i just got my new tattoo 3 days ago. no scabs i peeled off the protective tape. i washed it gently and then let it dry 10 or so mins and i put as little lotion and dabbed the rest off im first time getting a tattoo. the pain was a 1 on the pain scale for me. on calf
As I stated in the video, there are parts of the world that use sauna as the tattoo heals. I know in the Netherlands and Japan they do for sure. I think if you use those you would know if it is good for a healing tattoo or not. I doin't see how they can damage the ink in the skin however. Hope this helps.😊
Hey Corey awesome video. When do you think it’s safe to workout 🏋️♂️? If you got a bicep 💪🏼 tattoo when can you do a hardcore bodybuilding curls etc workout 🏋️♀️? Thank you
Great question! As long as you are not putting direct pressure on the tattoo itself as it heals you can do curls till your arms fall off. Just avoid rubbing the new tattoo on anything. But sweating will not hurt it. Hope that helps my dude.
@andykerr95: ABSOLUTELY!! The itching of the healing process is by far the worst part of any tattoo! Slapping it lightly, or rubbing around the area nearby, is harmless help to AVOID SCRATCHING the new tattoo itself!! Been there and experienced the itching, with 360+ hours of tattoo work so far.
Yes, swelling and bruising can happen. You can ice it or try tylenol for the swelling. It is continues after a week then it might need to be looked at for possible infection.
I have a black, shaded tattoo on my bicep I got 5/22. I took off my tegaderm recently to wash and moisturize and have been washing and moisturizing several times a day now. Minimal flakes, not much scabbing (yet?). I’ll be going to CA on 6/6, 25 days after getting the tat. Would I be alright to put sunscreen on then? I’m worried of wearing tank tops in CA with the new ink. I won’t be swimming at all on vacation.
Hi there Bridget. Sun is the enemy of all tattoos. I would wear loose clothing that hides it from the sun. But if it must be exposed definitely use some sort of moisturizer with sunscreen.
great video! i just got a new tattoo and i had a welt that spread out around it. It was horrible, it pulsated and everything. They did use a rounder needle this time and it was red ink , so im convinced it was those two factors
I'm a welter. As long as the welt stays the colour of your skin and doesn't go red you'll be fine. I had a tattoo a few, weeks ago. It didn't feel right from the getgo in one part of it, welt was red and warm around the whole tattoo. Didn't calm down after a couple of days. Weeks course of antibiotics sorted it. Had it touched up last week and I had a days welt and it's now healing beautifully 😁
Your job doesn't really change the method. Just don't be cautious of it getting anything weird or harmful on it at the job site. Clean it a few times per shift if you can. Keep it out of the sun for sure. And it should all be good.
you have to try and keep it out of direct sunlight for at least 4-6 weeks. I would have a bottle of water and a small hand soap to clean it when I could. Best of luck.
Iv just had a tattoo on forearm and i went home took off the film washed and then left it overnight i then went back to the artist and he put saniderm on and said to leave it on for 7 days
@BushCampNinja so after 7 days of the saniderm my tattoo has come out brilliant slight skin irritation and redness where the arm bends but overall fantastic happy days
Hey man i just got a tattoo and it got scabbed really bad. Now scabs are gone, tattoo looks dull and looks like faded. Some areas looks like they got scarred. Im worried if i developed scar on my tattoo or you think its just part of the healing process? I wisj i can send you a picture so you can have a better idea on it.
Well as I stated in the video, scabs come from the sticky fluid not getting washed off in time. The best thing for possible scars is vitamin E oil. Return to your tattoo artist if you other concerns. They should be willing to help you as well. Best of luck friend.
