Why am I just now learning this, from a comment no less, after seeing this entry in vids and icebergs for years? I guess that detail just isn't very creepypasta friendly. Thank you, friend!
man i remember when that name and those guys were terrifying as a kid lmao its def really goofy nowadays especially knowing stuff like this, but back in the day it was so creepy for an otherwise super pretty and upbeat game
fun fact: Mario Oddity is a virus only functional on italian computers and is an imagine of mario in a estive suit and while you watch the image it steals data and blocks files
The codename Hell Valley is likely after Jigokudani/Hell Valley, a famous crater in Japan with sulfuric hot springs. Just a reference to a real-world scenic spot rather than anything dark.
The mystery goomba spawns in the last Bowser level, Bowser in the Sky. Not the first Bowser level. The goomba spawns in a triplet triangle spawner. If there’s no floor where he is, the goomba snaps to the floor where he is supposed to spawn, and immediately spawns on the death barrier. He spawns (since you entered the draw distance of the spawner, causing every goomba to load) and then he unloads after a frame since you’re outside of his draw distance. Currently, any way to kill him is impossible to do.
Ayo I know nobody will read this, but your cadence, tone and dudebro humour is a breath of fresh air for video-game icebergs. The jokes and editing style here are top notch, and also pertinent to recent meme culture.
You know it wasn't until I saw this that I realized that Ninji are some kind of Ghost entity in the mario universe. In Super Mario World, they are the only enemy that I can think of that originates from Subcon. A realm where dreams and nightmares are real. And the only place you see them is in the underground entryway to the Demon King's lair. They could be like the ash spirits in Spirited Away, but even if they aren't, it's a japanese game and they are definitely a reference to something, at least in Super Mario World. (Also they act as Player stand-ins in the Ninji challenge on Mario Maker 2, an entity typically refered to as "Ghosts" in a racing game) [.... Is Gengar a type of Ninji?] [Who on the dev-team is having nightmares about dead ninjas?]
I was doing homework while watching your video, so I didn't pay much attention to the views or subscribers. When I saw the numbers, I was in shock. Your commentary is very entertaining, and you touched topics that I did not know. you have a new sub!
Mother 3 absolutely has the best Cast Call of any game I've seen Characters interacting with eachother in at after the game's over and finally having Lucas and Claus get reunited, even if it's non-canon
Right off the bat. The Kug... When making 3d games, to test physics and whatnot you might not want to render an entire 3d model so instead we will use a paper thin model, sometimes it only renders from one side even... I believe this was a model used to test the enemies (you showed them) called Stu... Idk why they went with Stu instead of a Goopy Goomba, like alliteration c'mon, lol. But, it likely the case imo. The Shocking aspect makes me thing they might have had electric goombas, kinda like the electro-koopas in the stage
When alex jones talks about vampires he's talking about psychic vampires that drain your energy. A psychic vampire stresses you out so much that it makes you mentally exhausted. There are real blood-drinking vampires though, we call those 'celebrities'
so I dont know if this was a dream or in the game, but I was playing mario 64 when I was super young, and I remember a water level where the "Skybox?" was just the sea floor and dominating much of the background was the biggest starfish ever, and there also was a giant eel but that one was less scary because it was swimming about ignoring me, but the gant starfish which wasnt moving at all and just dominating the skybox scared me more.
at around 15:00 you mentioned the bridge, but here's an extra fact about it. If you climb down the bridge until your face is pressed against the wall, then release A, Mario will climb _through_ the bridge and up onto the ledge where the bridge begins.
21:53 I recognize that flower from Conker's Bad Furday. Pretty sure it's in that game near the beginning. It might be in other games as well but that's the only one i've seen it in. :p
Technically, King Bob-Omb was guarding the star, so yeah he was interfering with Mario’s quest to save an innocent princess from being kidnapped and forcefully wedded to a fire breathing turtle dinosaur.
13:02 Toad looks funny and wonderful. They tried to make Dorrie out as a former criminal and thereat that's funny. A innocent cool friendly water animal with a violent past that would be funny and crazy If It ever got confirmed but I think she was a great character in Super Mario 64. King Bomb-Omb degraded by Mario to forever roll around as part of the other 2 canon balls forever. I love how in Super Mario 64 Mario fights two kings and kills them Bowser and King Bomb-Omb. This was wonderful iceberg. I love super Mario 64 It's one of my favorite games of all time. Cool video. ^_^
Its my favorite series to pull tunes from, probably my favorite video game soundtrack is from DKC2 but all the country games have heat in terms of music
Not a criticism, just as observation, but it's funny how ice bergs tend to frame even cute or silly things as creepy. Like the kodama in Shiverburn Galaxy are just cute little shadow people peepin over the mountain, but ice bergs always frame it as spOoOoOky wOoOoOo! lol I enjoyed the video, the commentary was well done and humorous 👍
i think its absolutely horrifying how hackers found that the Hell Valley Sky Trees are just fuckin gargantuan, they completely dwarf Mario and most of the massive galaxies we even visit in the games, its insane
This is a good and funny video, but I will never understand why people always describe these oddities as "disturbing". Most of these entries are just sprites out of context, unfinished cut content, game mechanics, set dressing for levels. There's no way that anyone finds a Mario Kart skip disturbing lol
"Fun" Fact: there's actually some reasoning behind the term "Hell Valley."
It's a reference to Jigokudani's hot springs.
Why am I just now learning this, from a comment no less, after seeing this entry in vids and icebergs for years? I guess that detail just isn't very creepypasta friendly. Thank you, friend!
Wow, to add to that, "Jigokudani" (地獄谷 in written Japanese) literally means/translates to "Hell Valley" when translated to English 😆😆
man i remember when that name and those guys were terrifying as a kid lmao its def really goofy nowadays especially knowing stuff like this, but back in the day it was so creepy for an otherwise super pretty and upbeat game
I had once heard another theory: th-cam.com/video/Rifkd8KfGdM/w-d-xo.html
i'm gonna imagine mario saying "Super Mario Oddities" instead of "Super Mario Oddyssey" for a while
The title would fit a Mario game about Investigation
Imagine a mario game where they explain every nintendo game mystery such as the mario galaxy aliens
fun fact: Mario Oddity is a virus only functional on italian computers and is an imagine of mario in a estive suit and while you watch the image it steals data and blocks files
@@Valetravelgames”Why was everyone even making such dark theories about those three? It’s just Greg, Meg, And Barney, They’re chill”

Thanks for ruining it
Way funnier than I expected, loved it
My friend sent me this the other day; honestly a very good video. You should cover the rest of the iceberg.
Thanks! And thanks to your friend! Part 2 is up and I plan to wrap the iceberg up as a whole in Part 3, stay tuned!
At first I was like "aw man, he's not doing all of it :(" but then you got into the entries and your humour made it all worthwhile.

Good catch, I think my research was incorrect now that I look back on it. Thanks for the correction!
pannenkoek2012 did a really informative video on this a few years ago.
Fantastic iceberg, I enjoy your commentary style. I hope you get more attention with this!
I appreciate the comedy you inject into this, your delivery makes it even funnier

That hallway seems to be an art gallery, so a sign asking people to stay quiet is not out of the ordinary.

Your commentary is very entertaining, and you touched topics that I did not know. you have a new sub!
Ninji actually *is* in the credits sequence he's just so stealthy you don't notice him.
wide toad is fucking HILARIOUS
Awesome video 🔥🔥
love the selection of picked entries rather than covering them all
Your icebergs and commentary are wicked.
Totally worth a sub. ✨
Hell isnt really a controversial word in japan, in Galaxy 1 "Melty Molten Galaxy" is called Hell province
I love that you put Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 music in the background in the first half of your video
You're genuinely a super funny dude, i love your humor
Glad I found this channel, your delivery and commentary is so entertaining
Torpedo Ted was actually in Mario Galaxy and NSMBU. Only one level each, but yeah
i was falling asleep listening to this but the burp around 4:45 woke me back up
Has anyone actually gone into the files of 3D Land and ripped the assets for the ghost? I've never seen it appear online anywhere.
9:33 “Bam Margera lookin’ Bullet Bill” 😂

Goated video structure
I always thought walk quietly in the hallways was a hint to catch mips the rabbit.
No way, I need a video on every individual entry so I have endless content to listen to while I do anything else
your way of entertaining is hilarious! I really enjoyed my time watching.
I want to put stickers of wide toad on random places in public
That makes more sense now, good info thanks for sharing!
How is it that birdo’s key death is deeper on the list then the hell valley trees?!?

I wonder if there were plans early on in Mario 64 to have Dorrie and the red eel be able to actually eat Mario. Kind of like the giant fish.

Someone found out the size of the hell valley sky trees and the tower over Mario, they're just as big as king thwomp
I absolutely love your humor!
3:35 simple. Lava, ice, the phrase “when Hell freezes over”, it makes sense.
"Wide Toad" really reminds me of the Blorps from Bowser's Inside Story in a weird way. _Paper_ Blorps is honestly a horrifying thought of its own.
14:20 in the ds version you can do that too if i remember correctly so i dont think its an oversight and it was purposely added for some reason
