    the difference is in the jets in the lower portion. Bigger to let more fuel through

    Where did you get the Carb?

  • @AGuyFromHazard

    I have a 2004 Merc 9.9 with 323cc of displacement. Pretty sure the carb swap would grant more HP on mine. Tho swapping in larger jets would probably be cheaper and guve the same results if the intake of the carbs are the same. Anyone know where i can get the 15 HP carb or jets?

    Do you need also a 15hp prop, or not?

    Do you know the serial number for the 15 hp carburetor? Thank you.
    I’m trying to buy one

    I hate to be asking the same question twice but just to clarify did you pick up 2 to 3 mph with nothing but the carburetor change? Is this before you ever changed props?

    • @SuperEuriel
      @SuperEuriel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I picked up 2-3 mph with just the carb swap and then after the prop change it picked up more. It was just a flat 4 blade to a 3 blade pitched

    hey, our 9.9 is now running rich after installing this carb. keeps fouling spark plugs and they’re wet. is there a way to adjust these? i contacted the company but didn’t hear back yet. thanks

      I only had to do a little bit adjusting but not much and then it was good

      @@SuperEuriel which screw do you adjust it with? this is my first time working on a carb of any kind

    • @FuglimanFishing
      @FuglimanFishing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's running rich you'll probably need to adjust the mixture screw, usually it's a recessed screw that is in the aluminum housing. Look up the specs/diagram for your particular carburetor to find it's location and which way to turn it to increase or decrease air flow

    Notice any top speed difference ? I have the exact same 9.9 and I want some more speed

      I noticed a little bit of a difference but I ordered a new propellor and should be in today to test it out again. It was like 2-3 mile difference

      @@SuperEuriel Where did you order the part from? Also, which prop are you planning on using? I have a 2022 9.9 that is in desperate need of some more power.

      @@jasonlennon4128 I bought both off of Amazon the propeller definitely made a difference it’s a 14 tooth spline 9.25x9, part number 48-897750A11 for propeller and the carb came from Viking Powersports

    i bet You didnt get more hp. 15hp has bigger displasement( over 300 cc). this block has 209cc

      I was about to ask,how u can get more hp from the same cc?? 😉

    • @JeffKnight1977
      @JeffKnight1977 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m curious about this also. I believe this model number is the same block as the 8HP. The 15hp has more displacement.

    • @thinkcreate5596
      @thinkcreate5596 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well a question do y’all believe a 9.9 is more hp than the 8hp cause the 8hp and 9hp is the exact same motor so something causes it to goes a tad faster other than the displacement. I don’t think he gets 15hp from it but maybe a 11 or 12

    • @SuperEuriel
      @SuperEuriel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also replaced from a 4 blade prop to 3 blade prop. But before than it wasn’t much of an upgrade. The prop made all the difference. Sorry for not replying for 8 months I took a nap lol.

      @@kostaswolf1978 I don't think it's a question of how you can get MORE hp from the same cc...it's how you can get LESS. They built the 15 hp and wanted to maximize the profitibility of that engine so they put a smaller carb on it and called it a 9.9. Then, with the same stroke of genius they made an even smaller carb and called it an 8. Really, it's a win for everyone. If you bought a 15, great, but if you bought something smaller and want to upgrade without buying a whole new engine, you can. The engine is reliable enough get away with this. Also, just think about if you were one of the people who bought the 8. For a couple of bucks you could almost DOUBLE your horsepower.

    You would have gotten the same results with just the prop the carb does nothing!!!
