Copper is one of the hardest materials to induction heat. The insane amount of power required to do it in a speedy fashion is what keeps it as a factory only option and it's not usable out in the field. I had a similar idea when I was in trade school but quickly found out it wasn't gonna pan out in reality.

yeah it's a shame this isn't more practical and portable. would've saved me a lot of hassle brazing in attics etc

what if you wrap the copper pipe tightly with steel wire ?
steel will heat up, and transfer that heat to copper.

Not sure but it looks like the two sides of the coil are opposed to each other. Normally the induction coil would be wrapped around the pipe to induce current around the pipe evenly heating it all the way around. Tuning for the non ferris low resistance material will need to be adjusted for. It won't use the same configuration as for iron bolts and nuts. Flowing a slight pressure of N2 inside the pipe will prevent oxidization inside the joint for silver brazing.

And that's bringing the pipes right up to the welder, imagine trying that up on fitted horizontal pipes.

What a complete waste of time. Just use your acetylene torch.
