Some of the best audio I’ve heard When you talk quieter it’s better. As you get louder it sounds like it breaks up a little but not bad at all. Exhaust is great also. Very clean. Wind noise was very minimal. Only recommendation is a dead cat for the mic. They have them on Amazon. I’m setting up my helmet this week. Hopefully mines as clean sounding as yours.
Wanted to thank you. I have been watching your videos and although I am not VLOGGING, you tip with the buckle has been a blessing!! I ordered and installed it to my helmet and it has been such a game changer!! Thank you again for the great videos!!
It get the adapter to sick to the glue adhesive. Use some sandpaper to rub away the surface of the adapter where you want to sick it. works like a charm.
So I had to find this vid again (first full face helmet since the 80's (don't judge me). "let me see if I can make out what Mr. B used so I can duplicate"... I said to myself... then BOOM! You had everything in the links! You are amazing! thankyou! and love the vids of you and Ms. B riding and the journey she had from sporty to Soft Tail. then come the informative ones... just an amazing channel! thank you!
Very nicely done, Block! (as always) The sound seems louder (clear/in a good way)... maybe it's just the positioning of the mic and the new helmet (different surroundings/acoustics). Thanks for sharing a glimpse into your setup!
Thank you! Yeah glad the sound comes across well, definitely easier positioning it in this helmet vs my HJC modular. Perk of a full face and cheek pads!
Please do an updated video of this with the go pro 8 if anything changed with that setup as far as materials used and whatnot. Trying to order the stuff for mine right now as well
I mounted the GoPro Hero 5 to my Icon Variant helmet with " Sugru. " It is a mouldable glue that comes in a variety of colours. WAY stronger than the 3M double sided tape! Got it on Ebay and it is cheap as hell.
What up blocchead!!! Thank you so much for these videos!!! I’m getting my first bike/harley in September... should I buy it used or new? Pros and cons? Any other tip???!
How do you get the sound from the bluetooth communication device into the mic on the GoPro? Is the GoPro mic just picking up the other riders voice from your ear speakers?
Awesome, Blockhead! I just moved my mic to the cheek pad because it picked up my breathing like crazy! I haven't tried it out yet, but I hope I get the same results as you!
Thanks for this video. I got a GoPro for Christmas and I’m finally going to put it to good use. Probably no vlogging for me. I just want to record my rides. The camera on the helmet combined with my tall stature and my bikes small stature makes for a great view
Just bought the whole set up. $380 for all products you linked (As well as the Sena SMH 10-10). Spent $125 on the Bell DLX Qualifier without the sena cubby mount location. Spent 150 on the GoPro about a year and a half ago... so yah. Quit a bit of money to be able to begin Motovlogging
Dude . it was really helpful for me who is seriously considering gopro 7 as a next cam but worrying about the way how to set. Thanks a lot bro. From korea.
Cool video. I have a Silver 4 on my Schuberth. One thing I find helps a ton is to go ahead and link up the camera to the phone so you can see the angles before you snug everything down. I leave the screws just tight enough to hold it and adjust the camera while wearing the helmet to get the best angle, then tighten them up. Thanks for sharing your setup. Pretty cool!
First time watching one of your vids...awesome job with very good instructions. Within 5 seconds of your ride I was like "he's in FL" lol. I am from the Tampa area originally but stationed in Japan now. I will start a moto vlog series as soon as the mic adapter comes in. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Ever had problems with the 3 M pads? I nearly lost a camera due to detachment in 40 Celsius. It was suoer stuck up to them and some theorized it would be above the adhesive operating temp..... anyway, do you employ a safety lanyard and ever had issues with the mounts detaching?? ( yes it was clean surface!) I s’pose the accessory attachment may give you a life line and it is in your field of vision ( mine side mounted originally)
This video is really helpful. I am learning how to motovlog and I want to make sure my setup is good. So far best video I have seen. Thank You Blockhead!
Thanks for the video! Mrs Den and myself record dual vlog (rider-passenger) and we did use an external recorder which sounded great but was a huge pain. We switched to sena audio pack which doesn't give us very good quality. I think I may go your route and pick up a camera for her, so she has a seperate mic. Not sure which way we want to go but thanks again for great info.
I've heard that if we record using the audio adapter and the quick capture mode, audio doesn't get recorded. I love the quick capture while riding. One press to start recording and one step to stop. I want to use the audio adapter going forward. How do you manage the turning on the camera in this case? Turn on using the Mode button and then press the shutter button? In that case do you turn it off by pressing and holding the Mode button?
Thanks for the video, as usual, very helpful and entertaining overall. That mic adapter brick is horribly big. As I understand the older GoPros did not need that, why do you think it was worth upgrading to the newest GoPro?
My pleasure! The older GoPros had much smaller adapters, better for motovlogging. The new adapters offer the ability to recharge while that adapter is still connected, through their USB-C connection on it. Why do I think it was worth upgrading? MUCH better and longer battery life vs the Hero 4, and image stabilization. Two things that won it over for me. Plus I can buy Hero 5 Black's at the cost of Hero 4's, so that influences my decision, too.
I am just starting to get into motorcycle flogging. I have tried two different helmets, several different microphones, different wind muffs, different mic placement inside my helmet and I cannot get any good audio out of any of them. Do you have good audio with no wind noise and clipping and muffed voice right from your setup or do you have to fix your audio in post edit?
Hey Block, I might be missing it, but have you updated your Moto log setup? This video has the hero 5, but are you still using all the same components for your current gopro?
Great How to video on this topic you've answered my question on motoblog filming however, What was your setup for filming this video.? I tried filming a video on a product the other day and was very frustrated on actually how difficult it is to make a good looking video of products while trying Video record it. Thank you for all your videos.
Settings for this video are my normal 'product' video settings: 1080p @ 60fps, Wide, Image Stabilization On, Stereo Recording On. Definitely difficult, just have to find what way works best for you. Cheers!
BLOCKHEAD sorry less technician which camera are you using and what the hell is it attached to?? It's almost seems like your wearing your helmet while filming this video? I'm just trying to get started so looking for the camera and how you filmed it in this video. The camera had to be attached to your head some how....
Great video. I bought all the stuff that you suggested but I am having an issue because I do not have audio. It is set to Standard mic +. Is that correct for this mic? The only way I can get it to work is if I slightly unplug the mic from the adapter about 3mm. The problem with that is that if you touch it, it can start not working again. Can you think of anything I am doing wrong?
This is substantial weight to add for the helmet - not easier to just keep audio recorder in the jacket like zoom and record audio separate - helmet would be lighter if you really need camera on the helmet
I'd like to vlog with my buddy in realtime but edit later, basically be able to talk to one another while riding our bikes and have it all on video/audio to upload youtube vids to our family. How can we accomplish this? What best software to use as well for edit?
This is the loudest helmet Ive ever owned lol. When I'm at high speeds on the highway there is a lot of windnoise coming thru my mic. Low speeds are fine.
Ready to give my fans what they've been waiting for... thanks for the video!! Extremely helpful and I ordered everything. I have the HERO 7 so if anyone is wondering, it works!!
Nice video man. I'm looking to get into this. So that was over 3 years ago. I've seen that the Hero 8 has a "media mod" which would eliminate the need for a mic adapter., thank god! And I guess everyone is now using the Purple Panda mic, right? Thanks.
only thing you done wrong was that you didn't heaten up the sticky side with a lighter...this helps it stick a hell of a lot better, you have to heaten it until the sticky part starts to sort of bubble a bit and you will find it will most likely never come off again
How much weight does all that add to the helmet? I have the Bell Qualifier DLX blackout, I had to get the smaller cheek pads cause I have fat cheeks now it's awesome .
Just want to start by saying...im a huge fan. Looking to start a motovlog on my Iron as well. Thank you for the transparency of yo setup...yo. I'm thinking I'm gonna focus differently in some areas...and the same in others. You'll be the first to know when I get my hero 5!
Have you upgraded the GoPro on this setup yet? Just curious as I get quite a bit of crackle and pop'n on my similar setup using a GoPro Hero 7. I have tried 3 diff mics but at 65-70 mph snap, crackle and pop into the audio. Just curious if you had this issue and how you resolved it. (I ordered a Windjammer PRO Tour 2, but that is going to super suck in the hotter months.) Update: I see in newer videos that you changed out helmets and even have your wife's audio being recorded... can you make a video on how you make this happen? I am guessing your comms tie in somehow to the gopro?
Hi Blockhead, Great video, thanks! A couple of queries... What about if the helmet has (like mine) an existing audio set (speakers and mic) already installed via Bluetooth? Can the GoPro mic adaptor be connected directly to the existing mic? What are the pros and cons? Will the Bluetooth somehow interfere? Appreciating your advice.
just bought a new AGV. love the helmet but neither gopro mount will sit flush. trying to figure out the best way to fill the gaps between the mount and the helmet.
Hey is there another video going over motovlogging with your modular helmet? I like having the modular but just cant seem to get the camera in a good spot other than the front and then you open it and the video is looking at the sky...
Great vids! I was wondering - how do you capture audio from your Sena (or other intercom)? Is the mic connected to the GoPro sensitive enough to pick up the Sena’s speakers?

Good job blockhead. Good audio quality. Nice to see another Florida rider with TH-cam success.
Thanks! 👊🏼

Nice clean cam setup, props. Thanks for including the test run at the end too. Sounds good.
Wanted to thank you. I have been watching your videos and although I am not VLOGGING, you tip with the buckle has been a blessing!! I ordered and installed it to my helmet and it has been such a game changer!! Thank you again for the great videos!!
before this video I always liked to imagine that your helmet was a block head like your logo.
juan torres That would be hilarious!
You wouldn't believe how long I looked for a squared up helmet, lol
BLOCKHEAD lmao
Is this a gumby reference?
I’m sure now, some companies would do customs helmets... I mean anything is possible nowadays.
It get the adapter to sick to the glue adhesive. Use some sandpaper to rub away the surface of the adapter where you want to sick it. works like a charm.
Video idea, Blockhead: HOW to ride safe and stay vigilant. Safety tips, like keeping the high beams on and such.
lol, love it! I'll add it to the list :)
It's super cool you answered. Have a great one! :)
I have now sorted out all the kit and did my first ride. Was awesome and I hope to do loads more. So much fun and thank you for getting me going.
So I had to find this vid again (first full face helmet since the 80's (don't judge me). "let me see if I can make out what Mr. B used so I can duplicate"... I said to myself... then BOOM! What up blocchead!!! Thank you so much for these videos!!! I’m getting my first bike/harley in September... should I buy it used or new? Pros and cons? Any other tip???!
This is great just for the gopro setup, for standard driving video "dashcam".

Cool to be able to help out from across the world! Glad you found the video useful. Cheers from Florida!
I got the same helmet. It's so good. The airflow keeps me dry like no other. Great choice.
How loud is it? I just bought one as my first helmet
glad to see your sub count growing, stay awesome man.
Thanks man!
I like your setup a whole lot more than anyone else' on YT currently.
This will help me to NOT deface my helmet for a mount.
Just spent the weekend touring Wales with your setup. It worked very well indeed. Thank you very much!
Pretty cool!
hey blockhead if you use the zip tie instead of cutting it twist it off at the base. it will prevent you from having to use tape. hope this helps
Bro, it's been 3 years. You should make a new one with current tech.
Does the Giant Squid mic just plug into the adapter? Or would you need another adapter for the 3.5mm? That’s what I heard on TH-cam haha
Great video! Any particular reason why you haven't places mic om the left side? Then your probably could route it even more cleaner.
Thanks! Ever had problems with the 3 M pads? I nearly lost a camera due to detachment in 40 Celsius. It was suoer stuck up to them and some theorized it would be above the adhesive operating temp..... anyway, do you employ a safety lanyard and ever had issues with the mounts detaching?? excellent video, great picture and sound quality.. i shall be following your guide when I can a steal a GoPro cheap enough off ebay :)
This video is really helpful. I am learning how to motovlog and I want to make sure my setup is good. So far best video I have seen. Thank You Blockhead!
Another external recorder placed under the seat will catch the exhaust noise and you can edit it in and out will make much more entertaining vids..
Seriously, who the hell would give this video a ‘thumbs down’?? Friggin’ people. Great video! Thanks man.
Good stuff!!! What is the setup that allows you to do dual motovlogging? How does Ms. Blockhead's dialogue come through you to get recorded?
Thanks for the video! Mrs Den and myself record dual vlog (rider-passenger) and we did use an external recorder which sounded great but was a huge pain. We switched to sena audio pack which doesn't give us very good quality. I think I may go your route and pick up a camera for her, so she has a seperate mic. Not sure which way we want to go but thanks again for great info.
How do you factor in communication systems? Two mics?
You could use a mic splitter
Great setup and excellent audio. Thank you.
How does this setup work in the rain?
I've heard that if we record using the audio adapter and the quick capture mode, audio doesn't get recorded.
I love the quick capture while riding. One press to start recording and one step to stop.

Thanks - Great vid, and the angles were spot on!
Isn't it best to use an external mic recorder?
I got the same helmet, great fit and looks awesome, but the wind noise is a bit too much
Dude how about the hole on the usb side? Its open and can get wet when riding on a rainy day?
Which in the uk is most days.
Have any issue of the 3M coming Off? Im kinda worried that my gopro might fall off while riding.
Thank you for sharing. Considering this setup as a safety camera.
Timothy Nguyen
Yeah, me too, video evidence is a must as a motorcyclist.
I used some super glue on some velcro 3M stuff to get the velcro to stick to the adapter. Works well for me.
Hey Block, I might be missing it, but have you updated your Moto log setup? This video has the hero 5, but are you still using all the same components for your current gopro?
Where did you get you chin strap? I have one like that but mine is not heavy duty like yours. I love it though. Quick snap on, snap off.
I love the sounds when you do motovlogging.. its really clear
Great clean vid awesome, just got this helmet as well, did you find it noisy?
Great How to video on this topic you've answered my question on motoblog filming however, What was your setup for filming this video.? I'm just trying to get started so looking for the camera and how you filmed it in this video.
The camera had to be attached to your head some how....
I have been avoiding buying so many helmets because they have Dring... Sewing the straps outta the way would probably be a nicer option.
Hi! Just wondering why the labels on the visor were being blurred out at 6:01?
Great video. I bought all the stuff that you suggested but I am having an issue because I do not have audio. It is set to Standard mic +. Is that correct for this mic? The only way I can get it to work is if I slightly unplug the mic from the adapter about 3mm. The problem with that is that if you touch it, it can start not working again. Can you think of anything I am doing wrong?
Ha, I was recently considering the HJC IS-Max 2, but ended up getting the Bell Qualifier DLX myself.
Both good helmets! But the Bell is lighter, haha
Is there an update to this video for current products? I love how your audio sounds when you record.
Is there an adapter for the GoPro Hero that is bluetooth so if you have a bluetooth helmet that you can use the audio that way?
Which gopro is good for vlogging bro pls say
Are you using a chest harness or are you wearing a second helmet with the GoPro mount to film this episode?
Why did you blur the bell logo on the lens when you were checking if the lens closed with gopro in place?
This is the loudest helmet Ive ever owned lol. When I'm at high speeds on the highway there is a lot of windnoise coming thru my mic. Low speeds are fine.
Just a question.. what is the best beginner motorcycle? Just wondering for when I'm old enough to get a license
Ready to give my fans what they've been waiting for... thanks for the video!! Extremely helpful and I ordered everything. I have the HERO 7 so if anyone is wondering, it works!!
....tf do you mean "fans"? you have 313K subscribers with less than 6k total views. smh
Do you feel foam does better job comparing to deadcat?
Nice video man. I'm looking to get into this. So that was over 3 years ago. I've seen that the Hero 8 has a "media mod" which would eliminate the need for a mic adapter., thank god! And I guess everyone is now using the Purple Panda mic, right? Thanks.
Great video. Thanks for this info, ill try and replicate this process on my full face helmet next weekend when my new GoPro hero 7 arrives.
You able to vlog if you get caught in the rain after removing the side door on your GoPro for your mic or do you need to disconnect everything?
only thing you done wrong was that you didn't heaten up the sticky side with a lighter...this helps it stick a hell of a lot better, you have to heaten it until the sticky part starts to sort of bubble a bit and you will find it will most likely never come off again
How much weight does all that add to the helmet? I have the Bell Qualifier DLX blackout, I had to get the smaller cheek pads cause I have fat cheeks now it's awesome .
Not sure, I'd have to weigh it all. My cheek pads pushed in quite a bit when I had the helmet new, but they've broken in since :)
Just want to start by saying...im a huge fan. Looking to start a motovlog on my Iron as well. Thank you for the transparency of yo setup...yo. I'm thinking I'm gonna focus differently in some areas...and the same in others. You'll be the first to know when I get my hero 5!
Oh...i forgot...Asaaah do.
Thank you BLOCKHEAD. I am planning to mod a longboarding helmet for high speed skateboarding and this is perfect.
Like the set up, I have to sena 20s. Can’t remember what the mic is like. Will it fit the GoPro mic adapter?
Have you upgraded the GoPro on this setup yet? Just curious as I get quite a bit of crackle and pop'n on my similar setup using a GoPro Hero 7. I have tried 3 diff mics but at 65-70 mph snap, crackle and pop into the audio. Just curious if you had this issue and how you resolved it. (I ordered a Windjammer PRO Tour 2, but that is going to super suck in the hotter months.)
Update: I see in newer videos that you changed out helmets and even have your wife's audio being recorded... can you make a video on how you make this happen? I am guessing your comms tie in somehow to the gopro?
Hi Blockhead,
Great video, thanks!
Very helpful video. Thanks!
Do you have any video on set up and operation of the Sena communication used by you and Mrs Block?
Dude , i didn't realize how much work you put in to the set up. Super clean install!!!! Are any of the local block heads gonna do bike night with us?
Quite a bit of work man!
Very insightful video. You inspired me to get a GoPro and start recording some of my rides. If you don't mind me asking, who does your custom stickers for you?
Can you show us how to have the audio from the Sena into the GoPro for videos?
What kinds of editing software do you like to use?
I setup my helmet using your video as a guide. Thanks so much for putting up great content.
+Tony's Garage Glad to help! :)
I have that helmet that transitions lens is a life changer
wow no windnoise so you don't have a mic for the exhaust right it's all recorded by the mic you have in the helmet?
The GoPro setup looks very neat and clean, but the mix sounds distorted because it’s a shitty mic. I would suggest to invest a bit more and get a good lavalier mic from Sennheiser or some other reputable brand.
Hey bro, nice video, very helpful for me. I just bought a bell qualifier dlx mips as well now. It doesnt have this port for sena. Do you know if they discontinued it?
How to charge action cam while riding? Any particular charger used in helmet for cams?
Damn, mic placement worked from the get go. The moment I stuck my mic there tons of wind noise I guess i have stuff to do still. Good video mate.
Gotta love them cheekpads! Thanks man
Loved the video. I have a Modular helmet. Can you tell me how you mounted the mike for your Modular helmet? Do you have a video for that?
sound quality is amazing i will be buying the same setup
Thanks for your giving idea about how to fix camera in helmet.how about for modular how to fix the camera helmet?
Sir I want to ask questions. I have GoPro Hero 7 White can I use extra mic for motor vlog it's compatible extranal mic
Please suggest me 🙏
