My grandfather used to serve Alfred Hitchcock his drink at a place called Jacks in San Francisco a long time ago. He liked him enough to give him an autograph that I still have with his signature silhouette of himself he would draw from his movies. 🍸

Idea:
Have all the TRYers bring their favorite bottle of liquor of a certain style (decide beforehand what type and have everyone bring the same type like rum, gin, whisky, ect) and let everyone taste it.
Don't tell anyone who's is who's untill after they try.
Sort of an alcoholic white elephant? Sounds fun!

The original recipe for the White Lady was devised by Harry MacElhone in 1919 at Ciro's Club in London. He originally used crème de menthe, but replaced it with gin at Harry's New York Bar in Paris in 1929. According to the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel, the drink was created there by Harry Craddock. A recipe for the White Lady made with gin, Cointreau, and fresh lemon juice appears in the Savoy Cocktail Book, published in 1930. Joe Gilmore, former Head Barman at The Savoy, says this was one of Laurel and Hardy's favorite drinks. Early recipes like MacElhone's and Craddock's don't have egg white as one of the recorded ingredients. -- from Wikipedia
If you've never done the creme de menthe version, try it. It's shockingly good. I use the Tempus Fugit creme de menthe with Triplum triple sec and lime juice. I will warn it's very sweet, but it works with how tart the cocktail is.
Stanley Tucci's "Big Night" with him and Tony Shaloub is one of my favorite food-related movies. So good!

My favorite part was when she goes that she would still ride Stanley Tucci and he agree he too would ride Stanley Tucci in a heartbeat. It was so subtle that I had to check to make sure I was not mishearing things and when I heard it I lost it.

The real secrets to these drinks is that when an interviewer asked these celebrities how they make their perfect cocktail, 3/4 of them just started naming off ingredients randomly and said "and it is called this..." It is similar to a game we use to play with our youngest brother called "Here drink this" after we took every condiment bottle in the refrigerator and jumped a little of each in a glass for him.
i read a short story about how these ppl decided to invent a dish for a newspaper's challenge, they dumped everything in their cupboard and stirred it all up, the end result was horrific, but they forgot to write down the measurements or what-all they put in it when it came time to send it in; they forgot one of the key ingredients, Tabasco sauce, and it ended up winning first place cuz everything else was good together, it was the Tabasco that made it atrocious

Just saw Dermot in his movie Deadly Cuts here in the States at a film fest, best one of the bunch (and the ladies were hilarious too)

Should probably not mention to Callyann that my associate attorney showed me a picture today of her mum with George Clooney - and her mum was giving him bunny ears (at the Clooney Foundation gala - she asked and he's apparently a very good sport. Her friends now owe her a very expensive meal as they bet he wouldn't be willing.).

The TRY Channel crew NEEDS TO DO A FORTIFIED WINE VIDEO. I'm talking Buckfast, MD 20/20 (Americans know it), Franzia, Carlo Rossi, Sandeman, Alvear.....but mainly just bring some Buckfast and "Mad Dog" MD 20/20 (all 4 flavors) to the table and see the reactions. Guarantee it would be hilarious.

Bláithín, you might have a kiwi allergy. I have the same reaction on my lips when I have a smoothie with kiwi, and beware of downing one raw because of throat swelling up. (I learned the bad way)

Loved the reactions (as usual)! Just a note though; all of these cocktails existed even before these celebrities were famous. They may have "tweaked" the recipes, but the idea of the drinks came from someone else.
I love how they are describing Psycho and said that was every horror film when he started it. Hitchcock is the OG.

I had to sound like a cocktail snob… but as the White Lady is one of my favorite cocktails: they really needed to add the egg white. Adds a ton of creaminess to the drink
Hitchcock had a major food fear of eggs, especially with runny yokes. He never consumed them on their own or raw. Egg whites weren't part of the original recipe.
