Speaking of “drunk uncles at Xmas...” when I was about 6 or 7 my mom’s sister, her husband and my 2 cousins came to NYC one year for the holiday. After imbibing in several pre-dinner “highballs” as was customary my uncle noticed my bro’s miniature HO train locomotive had derailed under the tree (waay in the back) and decided to rectify the situation. Standing up too quickly after his “good deed” he knocked the tree on the (fully set) dining room table, it was quite tall and fell completely lengthwise on said table. As I recall it was just before dinner and the result was smashed glass stemware, tree ornaments and pine needles everywhere.
The phrase; *“drunk uncle at Xmas”* or any variation thereof triggers a little PTSD still to this day.
*Moral; “never mix - never worry.”*
