    Custom spell for ya'll: Wing cut - Levitate magnitde 1 for 1 second on target. This will make cliff racer's lose their ability to fly and will take fall damage or drown if they land in water; a 60 second version is good to make enemies doof around in the air while walking slow.

      I never thought of that one. I've used burden before to be a dick and pelt someone with throwing knives and darts from afar. Also if your personality is high enough nothing will fight you. Food for thought on that one.

    I know this is over a year late at this point, but...I started Morrowind a little over a year ago, and hit this wall and wasn't sure what to do, so I took a break after a few months. I've been thinking about picking it up again recently and have been looking at some tips to help me out when I do. Most new player tips for this game seemed to be geared toward what you should do to make your life easier (fastest way to make a lot of gold very early, locations for good early starting equipment than can carry a low level player, etc), but they take out a lot of the fun of exploring and learning about the game yourself. Yours is truly what I would call new player tips. You provide some basic info about the world/setting, a brief explanation of mechanics that help with decision making for character creation, some things to keep in mind while playing, and a general framing/approach to the game. You do all that without trying to tell anybody optimal ways to play, things to do if they want 'x', or anything that is going to make someone feel like they can't be successful if they do certain things first that seem to be repeated in so many other new player tips videos, while encouraging people that anyway they want to play can likely be done, it just takes some time.
    Your video is exactly what I was looking for in a new player tips video. It's like the little booklets used that games used to come with, but in video format. It sets up some basics of the game without spoiling any of the actual content. I've checked out some of the other vidoes in you channel and they seem to follow the same format. I'd be very interested in seeing similar videos for other games, even some newer ones.

    You can buy some useful enchanted items for pretty cheap early in the game.
    -The Khajit trader near the silt strider in Balmora has several weapons that let you Summon Bound weapons for 60 seconds. The longsword version and one's that add a damage shield are expensive but the basic dagger and spear are under 200 septims and give you high damage weapons that you don't have to worry about repairing.
    -Veloth's helms and shields from a Temple enchanter in Balmora will give you a heal self for 10 points effect and the light armor versions will cost you around 100 septims. You can only cast them 5-6 times before waiting for them to recharge but there's no spell animation so you can chain cast them for a quick 50 points of health. The charge will also recover over in time even if you're in a city (unlike your own mana). The trader in Caldera also has a Veloth's Robe if you are going unarmored.
    -The mage guild enchanter in Balmora will have an amulet that restores fatigue. It doesn't have enough charge to use on an ongoing basis but can give you a quick recharge if you get caught by surprise.
    -The trader in Caldera has an Unlock for 20 points amulet. This can be very useful in lower level dungeons until you have enough skill with Security or Alteration skill to cast Unlock yourself.

    For fast travel options I would recommend also installing the official Bethesda plug-in "Master Index". It turns hunting down the various propylon indices (already existing in vanilla version), into a quest where you get paid for each index and after returning all ten to a certain individual, you get a Master Index which turns Caldera Mages Guild into super useful transportation hub. The master index can send you to ten different locations (Dunmer strongholds) scattered all over Vvardenfell, some of which are in one most hard to reach areas. Really useful when quests take you into those remote areas. You can also return to Caldera from these locations.

    Killer video my dude! I just want to say one thing that I hope others might find useful.
    As a member of the great house Telvanni, while in game/in lore the Telvanni hate and the Mages Guild and vice versa. You can totally join both organizations and lead them both in game. I can only think of 2 little speed bumps.
    1. The only practical issue you might run into is early on (assuming you just join both right out of the gate, which I recommend you do for making life easy) is that the starting disposition might be a little lower. But nothing should be locked out to you, assuming you don't go all klepto/mass murderer on either group.
    2. If I remember right a person can count on one hand the amount of quests that one group can give you that will piss off the other. All of whom can be avoided, and it won't bork you ability to lead both groups. Also you will be able to clearly tell from the what the quest giver in question wants you do which quests will piss off the other. Again just avoid them and you'll do just fine.

    • @steedless
      @steedless  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep it's totally possible to do quests for rival factions as long as you keep everyone's disposition up. I think if you want to do both Thieves Guild and Fighters Guild you have to do it in a certain order, but usually all you have to worry about is your disposition with the rival faction's quest givers. Just speechcraft or bribe them basically.

    I find it really hard to not play altmer personally, especially hybrids . 1.5 mana boost is massive, and you can just compensate for their low attributes with either the steed or the lady. After that you can raise strength by jumping everywhere and taking long blade lessons.
    However it's true, any race can do anything, the only thing that's really different is how you need to adjust at the start of the game. Argonians and Khajits do have a big disadvantage with armor pieces but they can still play any role.

    1:30 "All the magic skills are useful for healing, levitation, teleportation, etc.". That's why you take alchemy. It covers all of those in one skill. If you spread out too thin and pick up magic skills for the sole purpose of using 1 or 2 spells from each school, you're never gonna level those skills up.

    • @steedless

    This guide helps me ALOT, honestly bought morrowind because of a 3 way deal sale for the Elder scroll titles, and i played Skyrim and oblivion but never went to morrowind but i heard the magic in morrowind is amazing,
    i made an inpearl because i wanted to be a persuasion and sweet talker with magic, so i went down the Personality and got it up to 80, also got Mystic and Enchanting as well as Restoration and Alteration,
    Filled out my paper work, got my Hotkeys fixed around, grabbed the Lady Stone and walked out door, took me 5 minutes to figure out how to equip magic just to learn you have a Weapon hand, and a Magic hand, two separate Tools AMAZING
    Looked at my basic spells and saw "Water walking", uh HELL YEAH, Casted that bad boy, and went to 3rd person to see my derpy self walking on water like God himself, Casted it more and i failed the spell.. felt so realistic, Then i got bombarded with the "Where do i go, what do i do" feeling as Skyrim and oblivion kinda just Tell you where to go, but i was told in morrowind the game dose not hold your hand. Right now im trying to figure out how to get my magic bar to go back up, do i gotta wait an hour or actually drink a potion?

    • @steedless
      @steedless  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can naturally regen magicka by resting using the T key like how you wait in Oblivion/Skyrim. You can rest anywhere in the wilderness. Resting in the middle of a town is illegal though, your character will just wait instead of resting and you won't regen anything. If you want to rest in a town then you need a bed.

    i made a spell that is a bane to all cliffracers and is probably the most hilarious spell to use on them.
    on target Levitate 1 mag 1 sec. makes the cliffracers forget how to fly and they fall to the ground and die from fall damage, super cheap to cast and can basically make this spell at level 1, you can even have fun with this idea and make it be an AoE targeted effect so you just round up all the cliffracers and hit them with it and watch them all fall and die lol, also makes it easier on a melee character because sometimes they get stuck above you in the sky.

    Don't forget the dunmer stronghold teleports! Getting all the stones can be frustrating, but hey, the guy pays you 500 per one.

      yea, morrowind does not use level scaling as oblivion or skyrim.
      you will find areas of morrowind to be much more difficult because lots of enemies have set level.

    In general you want to pick up "the lady" as your star sign.
    Because your hp roll is based on endurance you have atm..
    The higher endurance you have the more hp you will receive with each lvl too.
    Ergo endurance is the skill which you want to max out the first to maximaze potential of your health.
    In your character selection.
    You want to have one main attribute as luck to get those bonus points. (basically saves you 10 lvls :P)
    Luck is super important skill which is responsible for everything in the game... There is one npc in the game who has 100 luck and he is almost impossible to kill/hit/do anything to even if rest of his skills are trash.
    Problem with luck is that it doesn't have responsible skill and you can't power lvl it ergo you can take only 1 point in luck per lvl.
    Apart of that.
    Make sure you always get double 5's + 1 luck at every lvl up :P
    Regarding enchanting.
    Biggest game changer item you will ever receive in this game is probably some kind of amulet which will regenerate fatique per second.
    Making you literally impossible to knock down/ Letting you run all the time and have 100% cast chance at all times.
    Having full fatique at all times makes game 10 times faster and unleashes full potential of character.

    Notably if you really want to maximize a character you actually want to not take any of the skills you want to use. I would not suggest doing this though, as it is a giant pain in the neck.
    What I suggest doing is taking the skills you will use most and making them your Minor Skills, and taking the skills you want to use, but will be using more sparingly and making them Major Skills. This will helm better optimize your character in the long run with Morrowind's system, but won't be as frustrating to play early, on or to level up. In fact I'd say it is a superior experience overall, as it will make you feel a bit week at first and a bit stronger later on, without the nonsense involved with the more optimized character creation method.

    • @spatrk6634
      @spatrk6634 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ye, you take something like combat spec with all major and minor skills being magic related and max endurance first
      you will get slowest start possible but be able to get to around level 78
      which is max level you can get if you min max perfectly and dont waste any skill points on level ups
      thats why you dont want in major or minor skills anything you will constantly use and accidentaly level up
      but ofcourse thats not reccomended for new players. because they will get destroyed not knowing anything.

    Never, never, never make Alchemy a major or minor skill, you will use it so much you will level too quickly. Levelling too quickly isn't as detrimental in Morrowind as it was in Oblivion, thanks to unlimited skill purchasing, all you need is money after all, but should still be avoided by new players.

    • @steedless
      @steedless  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leveling with non-combat skills too quickly doesn’t matter at all in Morrowind like it does in Oblivion. In Oblivion it can completely destroy your character’s effectiveness, in Morrowind it’s an inconvenience at worst.

    • @ronwilson9815
      @ronwilson9815 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steedless You need to have one skill in miscellaneous to be able to get the best levelling balance, from a quick glance your suggestion for major and minor only leaves conjuration in miscellaneous that is intelligence based, and that is far more important (Bound weapon and turn undead) in a combat situation, alchemy is no use in combat.
      It's easy to level up alchemy to a useable level by purchasing skill points from Ajira, who should become 100% friendly very early.
      Whilst overleveling isn't nearly as bad as it is in Oblivion, it's still best avoided, and any skill gains above ten per level are a waste.
      Maybe I micro-manage too much, but it's Bethesda games that brought me to that! LOL
      (Ediit) I realise now that you left Enchanting as a Misc skill, but that is so useless in an unmodded game it would be a waste of money buying any skill points unless there are no alternatives.

    I never bother with security, I cant stand the lockpicking system in this game and always just cheese it with an unlock command. Id also like to add that picking acrobatics and athletics for either major or minor skills is pointless, as you will be constantly moving and jumping anyways, that is unless you are trying to level up as quickly as possible.
