Thank you for this video. No “steer away from x” or “use y for a good time.” Just generic useful tips for a new player wanting to experience daggerfall for the first time while steering away from too many details on any one point.
Alchemy! Such a fun game!
Thanks, Allen. That was quite insightful and you made me want to play Morrowind again.
I came here cause I wanted to know what is a reliable way heal myself but learnt many more things. Amazing video!
great advice!
Very nicely made video - thank you. Starting ES3 again after like 15 years, this time on PC and with many mods.
Loved the dry humour in this one.
Played and beat it for the first time in 2015-2016. Had one hell of a time with it, and I'd say it aged pretty well. Maybe enjoying this made it easier to get into Fallout 1
So refreshing to watch a video about Fallout without having someone trying to be funny with stupid dialogue containing nothing interesting and peppered with f bombs. Thank you for the insightful video 😎
me wandering around the wasteland in power armor thinking I'm some sort of unstoppable god, before dying in 1 hit because a random super mutant got a critical hit for 170 fucking hp
As a noob - getting finally to Balmora, after 50 death and reloads - did not want to leave the city, really.
balmora is so cosy
@@spatrk6634 Wandering towards Ghostfence at level 2 was not an encouraging experience.
yea, morrowind does not use level scaling as oblivion or skyrim. you will find areas of morrowind to be much more difficult because lots of enemies have set level. @@pelimies1818
This will always be my favorite Fallout game, therein, my favorite video game. The feeling of hopelessness is captured perfectly.
Ahh this music. Every time I hear it I feel how warmth runs through my soul.
even today, 20 years after MW came out; this is the gold standard IMHO, for an "open world" CRPG. Get a few graphics modss to bring those into modern standards...and the game is ENTIRELY playable even today.
lots of people who never experienced old elder scrolls games cannot get into morrowind because its actual RPG game. and not hack and slash
@@spatrk6634 There is a clear difference between an RPG, and an ARPG. Diablo, as the King of the genre, is a clear winner of a title. BUt is NOT, an RPG. MW, the entire ES serial, most clearly IS an RPG. Like the old Wizardry series from Sir-Tech, or the Gold Box from SSI was.
Multi-Mark is a great spell mod, it let's you cast 12 Marks and Recall to any of them. {:o:O:}
good review of the original fallout game.
I swear, every western rpg always has the dude who voiced jolle bindo from kotor 1 in their games
I just recently decided to play through Fallout on a whim, and was surprised how enjoyable it was even completely without any nostalgia for it. Sure, some parts of it were annoying, like inventory management, using skills, and the way critical hits were incorporated, but it was surprisingly easy to get used to the basic gameplay and just begin adventuring. The aimed shots give the combat system a surprising amount of depth that isn't instantly obvious, and the almost absolute freedom to approach the goals any way and almost whenever you want to is amazing, as is the way the story is delivered to the player without force-feeding it down your throat.
Dude!! I noticed your channel icon has a pagan flower 🌺, and nice content btw
It sure does. And thanks.
Steal the plate before you leave the office..
Great I find another good channel and it is dead
I can always undead myself.

evade the cliffracers. that is all I can say
The way I learn to play Oblivion without leveling up was to not use your major skills and put the skills you want to use in your minor skills category, you don't actually earn points toward a level up. It does make the game a little harder since you're not using the skill the bonuses that the game gives you on major yuur skills.
Could you do a Fallout 3 video next please?
100% wrong on skills. You want to pick skills that you don't intend on using at all as your major and minor skills.
If you want to min-max in the most unfun way possible, sure.
thats not for noobs to do. game will only be tedious to them. min maxing is for veteran players who already know how the game works and where all the stuff and trainers are.
I always level up my character to the point where enemies stop and I continue level ups. I do it right before the final fight in the Arena. Doing the most level ups in a row is great, because the champion just lets me kill him at the end and I get his equipment which is the best possible quality by now.
Fallout and Fallout 2 are always in my heart and I replay them from time to time <3
Just stumbled upon your channel. Great work. Subbed.
For fast travel options I would recommend also installing the official Bethesda plug-in "Master Index". It turns hunting down the various propylon indices (already existing in vanilla version), into a quest where you get paid for each index and after returning all ten to a certain individual, you get a Master Index which turns Caldera Mages Guild into super useful transportation hub. The master index can send you to ten different locations (Dunmer strongholds) scattered all over Vvardenfell, some of which are in one most hard to reach areas. Really useful when quests take you into those remote areas. You can also return to Caldera from these locations.
If I had to recommend a guide for friends who wants to play Morrowind. I'll show them this. Too many channels are making overly long video guides that feel like they're validating their expertise rather than actually being accessible for newcomers.
In short, dont feel bad for being a dick with magic and skills because someone will be one to you if ya dont.
Don't forget the dunmer stronghold teleports! Getting all the stones can be frustrating, but hey, the guy pays you 500 per one. A good thing to mention is that while training is powerful, you cannot train a skill above your attribute. Need 50 speed to train short blade to 50 for instance.
Just subbed. Love the content
Thanks
Is it strange I play as a Breton but mainly use stealth archer tactics.
You can buy some useful enchanted items for pretty cheap early in the game. -The Khajit trader near the silt strider in Balmora has several weapons that let you Summon Bound weapons for 60 seconds. The longsword version and one's that add a damage shield are expensive but the basic dagger and spear are under 200 septims and give you high damage weapons that you don't have to worry about repairing. -Veloth's helms and shields from a Temple enchanter in Balmora will give you a heal self for 10 points effect and the light armor versions will cost you around 100 septims. You can only cast them 5-6 times before waiting for them to recharge but there's no spell animation so you can chain cast them for a quick 50 points of health. The charge will also recover over in time even if you're in a city (unlike your own mana). The trader in Caldera also has a Veloth's Robe if you are going unarmored. -The mage guild enchanter in Balmora will have an amulet that restores fatigue. It doesn't have enough charge to use on an ongoing basis but can give you a quick recharge if you get caught by surprise. -The trader in Caldera has an Unlock for 20 points amulet. This can be very useful in lower level dungeons until you have enough skill with Security or Alteration skill to cast Unlock yourself.
V helpful, thank u pal :)
I'm sure everybody knows this, but apparently you can click off of sleeping before an hour passes to carry on a quest without leveling up. Worked for me on unofficial patched version.
Good video. Very helpful for new players, or even people just thinking about how to get back into the game.
Imma just boot this man's algorithm
Starting it tonight, super excited!
That first 8 seconds monologue is probably the most accurate thing said about Morrowind.
Just like no fast travel is a half-truth, so is the concept that the game isn’t leveled. There’s 100% leveled enemies, but not leveled loot. Not to say powerful enemies won’t be omnipresent in some locations, but many wild/ancestor tomb enemies are leveled, along with daedric creatures
Nice video. 🙃☕❤❤
I enjoy your explanation a lot ! I looked this up because im playing New Vegas atm and its my first ever fallout game (guess im late lol). Its gotten me thinking a LOT about game design. Just one tip; use more pauses between the different topics you adress. And introduce them more clearly :)
Thanks bro
I consider the morbidly obese as a beast race.
Excellent take on Fallout 1. I barley played the game since I am not really fond of turn-based mechanics, but watching this video and learning that regardless of the turn-based mechanics, there are mods that makes the game better (obviously), it actually makes me wanna try the game again. Thank you for this!
I have to wonder why you only used _Fallout 2's_ OST. I know some tracks from the first two games were used in the _NV,_ but most of the tracks here aren't even played in the game.
I saw Inon Zur's tracks being copyrighted on other videos so I went for the older soundtrack just in case. Only reason.
@@steedless Thanks for clearing things up. _Fallout 2's_ own soundtrack is pretty good, so I'm not too distracted by it.
I know this is over a year late at this point, but...I started Morrowind a little over a year ago, and hit this wall and wasn't sure what to do, so I took a break after a few months. I've been thinking about picking it up again recently and have been looking at some tips to help me out when I do. Most new player tips for this game seemed to be geared toward what you should do to make your life easier (fastest way to make a lot of gold very early, locations for good early starting equipment than can carry a low level player, etc), but they take out a lot of the fun of exploring and learning about the game yourself. Yours is truly what I would call new player tips. You provide some basic info about the world/setting, a brief explanation of mechanics that help with decision making for character creation, some things to keep in mind while playing, and a general framing/approach to the game. You do all that without trying to tell anybody optimal ways to play, things to do if they want 'x', or anything that is going to make someone feel like they can't be successful if they do certain things first that seem to be repeated in so many other new player tips videos, while encouraging people that anyway they want to play can likely be done, it just takes some time. Your video is exactly what I was looking for in a new player tips video. It's like the little booklets used that games used to come with, but in video format. It sets up some basics of the game without spoiling any of the actual content. I've checked out some of the other vidoes in you channel and they seem to follow the same format. I'd be very interested in seeing similar videos for other games, even some newer ones.
Thanks man. That was exactly the intent. I do plan on making more survival guide type of videos for other games in the future.
hey dude, great video. i was a bit overwhelmed after starting morrowind for the first time bc i only know games that hold ur hand like crazy and u helped a lot in explaining the general stuff, thanks man <3
Nice video thanks I been wanting to get into Morrowind for years now & this will help me a lot
Never, never, never make Alchemy a major or minor skill, you will use it so much you will level too quickly. Levelling too quickly isn't as detrimental in Morrowind as it was in Oblivion, thanks to unlimited skill purchasing, all you need is money after all, but should still be avoided by new players.
Leveling with non-combat skills too quickly doesn’t matter at all in Morrowind like it does in Oblivion. In Oblivion it can completely destroy your character’s effectiveness, in Morrowind it’s an inconvenience at worst.
@@steedless You need to have one skill in miscellaneous to be able to get the best levelling balance, from a quick glance your suggestion for major and minor only leaves conjuration in miscellaneous that is intelligence based, and that is far more important (Bound weapon and turn undead) in a combat situation, alchemy is no use in combat. It's easy to level up alchemy to a useable level by purchasing skill points from Ajira, who should become 100% friendly very early. Whilst overleveling isn't nearly as bad as it is in Oblivion, it's still best avoided, and any skill gains above ten per level are a waste. Maybe I micro-manage too much, but it's Bethesda games that brought me to that! LOL (Ediit) I realise now that you left Enchanting as a Misc skill, but that is so useless in an unmodded game it would be a waste of money buying any skill points unless there are no alternatives.
