Thank you so very much our American Farmers!! You do so much for so little money, praise and thanks. You keep our country alive and going, without your hard work this country would NOT be here! Thanks from a ex-rancher
My dad was a corn farmer in Mexico and life was tough, and my mom helped run their farm, and I always wondered why my moms arms were so muscular even though she was no longer on a farm. Muscle memory! Farming is tough work! Thanks for the video!
Wow this reminds me of when I was a kid. I'm 48 now. My grandpa would plant a strip of sweet corn for us with a 6 row planter. Actually did all the corn planting with a 6 row planter. Mercy me , how time has changed.
Erin, I know that your father doesn't like the internet stuff much, but I can speak for many of us out here that we do like seeing him in your videos. Tell your father that I said thanks for being in the videos showing us how he works and also for raising you so well! I also thank you for just being you!
She's so knowledgeable and VERY excited about her sweet corn.....she totally amazing.....pretty fingers running through the corn at the beginning.....and BIG smile
Agree that added effort is very worth it!! Sweet corn..... or as my grandma called it... sugar corn.... might arguably be the absolute best thing ever!
Used to plant mine the same way on the outside rows. Sweet corn is SO good most any way you prepare it. I love it on the grill smothered with butter...
The video reminds me of when we used to grow a few rows of potatoes for our own use , it took longer to get the planter out of the shed and then put away again after than the actual planting ever did. Your videos are excellent and very educational for farmers across the other side of the Atlantic , I hope the foot is well on the way to recovery, Thank You
Thank you for the show! We have found over the years. It's best for us around here (West Central Iowa), to plant the sweet corn out in the middle of the field. Otherwise, it's easier for the raccoons when roaming the ditches at night. To smell it, then find it, and eat most of it up! If it is on the end rows. : - )
This brings back memories. On our farm we grew Silver Queen sweet corn in large enough amounts for sale at the farmers market. We started picking at sunrise and had three trucks loads sold before 10am. Enjoy your planting season.
I've been fascinated by farming and the beautiful intelligent farm girls that do it and make these youtube videos! We just don't have many awesome ladies like this in the city. These ladies were raised right and are not like the crazy whack a doodles like I know.
At one time I worked for a large agribusiness and had to calculate and pay the royalties due for sweet corn technology. It astounded me at the number of different varieties of sweet corn and the number of companies and universities that held patents on them
So the millennial farmer is my number one Chet Larson is my number two and now you've become my number three but you are really growing on me..... Keep it up Erin . I love your videos
Sweet corn planted by a sweet lady, Miss Erin! Nice to see you smiling again! You must be feeling better? So you are growing only a few rows of sweet corn for your own family use? I know that I would if I could and had the means! I LOVE Olathe sweet corn grilled in the husk! MMMMM MMMMM! I see that those plastic bins on that planter are easily removable? I saw Laura Farms vacuuming out their planter's bins with a shop vac as they were getting them ready for planting seed corn. Maybe the shop vac is easier and quicker? I'm curious?
My favorite Farm Girl is looking and feeling great today. Im happy. Get those crops in. Feed me girl. I'M STARVING. lol Did i mention I love Corn? I do. Giggle giggle
Very cool insights into what it really takes to run a farm! The future of American farming needs to stay in the hands of the American farm family!😎🤙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We sort of do the same thing here I pick out about four different varieties ranging maturity from like 72 to 90 day and then we just load them first now we're only using four row planter but we pick out several fields some years some years just one or two depending on what the rotation is here and we'll sneak out before we start planting the field corn and run the sweet corn in and then sweep everything down into the units load the field corn on top and go used to be when we planted with the old two row we wouldn't clean it up and put it away till the 4th of July and we plant the last around July 4th a lot of years we'd be sitting eating supper after milking in the evening on Halloween night when the trick-or-treaters showed up blew their minds when we were eating our own fresh sweet corn on Halloween hey Erin here's wishing you and your family a safe spring from those of us here in Western PA
@@dr.michaelr.foreman2170 Yes, that is what I meant by it “keep it from molding”. It is probably not technically correct. But, I learned long ago, to use “the wasps lungs”, instead of spiracles and tracheae. Folks can understand what I mean if I say lungs. Spiracles and tracheae just gets a puzzled look, and makes me seem like I’m talking down to them.
They have been planting corn this week here in NW Mo. I planted some Triple Sweet by Syngenta grew some last year and like it. Hard to keep the critters out of it.
This ^ Erin! You're going to have to show us your favorite ways of cooking sweet corn! Again, I like mine grilled/roasted over a fire or grill right in the husk! Peel down the husk, brush on REAL butter (never any fake butter substitutes or margarine), a little sea salt and YUM! Sometimes I like them sprinkled with some lemon pepper too! The Ky State Fair started me liking the lemon pepper on their roasted corn at the booths on the midway.
@Tony Harrell Why in the world would you do that? If I have steak I want that to be the highlight. If I have fresh corn on the cob, I want THAT to be the highlight. Why mix them together so that you can't totally enjoy each one to it's fullest? lmao... I think you just want to sound tough. Not me. I'd rather enjoy both to them max! lol
@Yeti Manetti Yeah. You know like if you had tried in school? You could have dried a pen out of effort. Now you have nothing. Not even a dried out pen to show for your effort
Hi Erin, I know that you are super busy with the farm and clothing business. Think about selling your sweet corn thru your online store. I am guessing that 6 ears will fit great in a Medium Flat Rate box. Love your content, keep up the hard work.
How long are are the rows. I remember we did some hundred foot rows and the first year we did it the raccoons got into them and eat it all right before we could get to it. Then we trapped them and gave them to a guy that let them out away from us. It was a fun time. My dad plants Providence sweet corn. It's really sweet and good.

Nothing beats freshly picked, shucked, and cooked sweet corn.
What a science farming is! Thank you Erin for the education. Besides all that, we look forward to seeing you!
Dang, you are one of the hardest working young ladies, I seen in a long time, not afraid to get dirty, work long hours, not many of your kind left.
The neighbor and I always call it the most important crop too! Nice video.

Has anybody had sweet corn with butter and garlic salt it like the greatest ever !
I'd like to reserve a seat at the table when the Sweet Corn 🌽😋 is ready.
Yes. This comment I agree with. Make that 2 reservations lol

Another great video!
I’m learning so much. Thank you!
Yyyeaaahhh, uh huh, I bet the secret patch is within view of the chief cook's kitchen window! LOL, I really don't have a clue, it just sounded good.

I’m pretty sure they only grow horse corn in these parts.

Thank you for the videos
wow it's tons of work but it all be worth it in the end
nothing better then Sweet Corn,,,
I NEVER KNEW SWEET CORN STARTS OUT SO PURPLE AND WRINKLY...
It is treated to keep it from molding, and to taste bad to birds. The purple indicates that.
@@randallthomas5207, It is not only to stop critters from eating it but, more importantly, it prevents seed rot.

Planted my sweetcorn on the first fill that way I only cleaned the row units out once.
I'm going to need some sweet corn...
Sooo good.....
oh man, what a tease
BUENAS NOCHE AMIGA QUE SIGUEN SEMBRANDO ABRAZO
Kinda sad when you have to keep your sweet corn location hidden but I understand why. Great video and keep up the great work!
Very good!
We might just have to give that a try here on Sunny Grove!
Nice video. What is in the tiny rear box behind the seed box? I haven't kept up with planting in years, decades
Does the planter tell you when your running low/out of seed?
Something about an educated super cute American farmers daughter gets my tractor started.....🌽🌽🌽🌽
Yay new video
Planted acre of peaches and cream corn today .
The sweet corn tassel on top is white if I'm not mistaken.
Nice videos!!! You have a New suscriber from Argentina!!!. Greetings!!!
