Hey Erin. Another great video. You tell’m girl!!!! Work smarter, not harder!!! Lol. Always check you grease gun before you start. Great job on your maintenance. Instead of trying to turn your u joints by hand, one thing that’s help me with some of them, take like a 18” bar or Rachet extension and slip down in the yoke for leverage for turning. Just saying. Good job! Be safe Take care
Great video Erin, I can relate to running out of grease in the grease gun. And laying on wet ground, bean stubble is really fun. I bought a 18 volt battery powered Milwaukee grease gun. And it's top notch and very easy to prime. Thanks for letting us tag along again. Have a great rest of the harvest season Erin ma'am, take care, and God bless you Erin, and your family.
No harm in putting down a ground cover. I wouldn't want to be working wet all day. Great job loading the grease gun. Though the gun was empty you had spare tubes on hand. Happy harvesting Erin!
Great video showing the less glamours jobs like greasing , the grease gun will always run empty when you have got to a inaccessible place , I know plenty of people who will use a large opened out cardboard box to lay on under machinery.
I used a small tarp. I had to get under vehicles everyday in a non shop environment: so using a tarp to keep water or mud or just dirt off was an everyday need.
When u change the grease cartridge u can pull the handle all the way out & there is a groove/slot to lock it in to drop a new cartridge in....but, ur way works good too...:))
Truck and tractor batteries are always problem makers! One of the things I've done is clean up contacts (battery posts and both ends of cables) and coat with dielectric grease. That really helps.
Yes it does! Also buy quality batteries that are a bit oversize if you can. For example my truck would start on two batteries most of the time but I had five on it! I know that seems ridiculous but it put an end to that just not quite enough power to start thing!!
About 25 years ago I invested in a 12v rechargeable grease gun from Lincoln purchased at my local TSC. Makes the job you just did almost painless. Also recommend cardboard to lay on. Way easier than fold/unfolding blankets especially in wind.
Erin nice job on preventative maintenance I think people get in a hurry and by pass daily checks which can lead to costly down time. I carry a long pry bar to turn the universals in position to help align grease fitting. I just came across your channel, love your work on the farm and your videos can't wait to get time to watch your other ones...keep up the good work😊
Another great vid! I allwsys kept a grease gun and tubes behind the screens of our 3020 and 4020. Doesn't help when the guns mty. At least more grease was handy! Have fun and be safe
You certainly had a beautiful day for your work! We traveled through your community yesterday and returned home today from the nearby Covered Bridge Festival. I know we encountered a lot of harvesting dust as well as trucks, tractors and combines on the roads, and were happy to give them wide berth. Stay safe out there!
@@marknicholson2718 First u need to have an awareness that in the US (for that matter, the majority of the world) industry standards (e.g.: ASME; ASTM: IEEE: NFPA; SAE to name a few in the US) govern the production of (all) products (& sub-components) for conformality, composition of base materials, sizes, ratings (psi, volume, etc.), functionality, etc.. The simple answer to ur question is that cartridge sizes r produced IAW established industry standards in order to be compatible w/ the 'grease gun’ manufacturer's barrel dimensions which r themselves delineated by industry standards. Industry standards produce tested, safe, reproducible products @ a reduced cost to both the manufacturers & consumers. That being said, there r companies that will produce ‘specially designed’ components for unique business uses. The requesting business will write a ‘design specification’ for the component manufacturer to follow which invokes (among other design parameters) specific industry standards and takes exception to certain sections/subsections of stated standards in order to achieve the satisfactory end component. Hope this helps.
Erin I think that’s pretty cool that you service all your equipment yourself your blanket ideal is a good ideal I use a 6” rug with a rubber button because I’m 6’2 It works pretty good for me. I’m not sure if you know how to check the grease gun for grease level the way I do it is pull the rod out of the grease gun until it stops. The length of the rod shows how much grease is left in the tube.
You know those campaign signs everywhere? The 8'x4' coroplast ones? Grab a few after the election. GREAT material. They work awesome for setting down on the ground for laying on it. Light & comfortable. As an added bonus, they usually have very high quality T-Posts. I use them to set my on.
Lol Erin! This man who is also a farmer does the same thing for the same reason. Who wants to wear wet clothes around the rest of the day after you grease a piece of machinery. Much more comfortable to be dry. I always say I'm very happy and very proud to say that I'm a farmer but I don't need to close in the shoes that I wear announcing when I do for a living everywhere I go so why don't we try to stay clean a little bit.
Anybody who says you're not a real farm girl because you're too smart to want to work in wet clothes is obviously not farm stock themselves. You charge your own grease gun, and are crawling around on the ground an unhooking the PTO to get at all the grease zerks. Not to mention all the other "Farm Girl" stuff you do, which is a lot! No, you are the real deal, alright! Keep on keeping on, Erin. You rock!
Hii Erin Felix here from Ireland over here in Nebraska helping friends for 12 days with harvest driving a case tractor love looking at your videos back home!!
Hello Ms.Erin & thx 4 sharing today! Great job hitting all the zerks & so smart to use that blanket, after all why lay in that wet fodder. Hope U had a safe happy day! 🙂
I remember back in the day, when my father was a wheat farmer, and the feeling of being completely independent from the 9 to 5 humdrum of the world and knowing that I was gonna get paid regardless, it was a nice feeling, but the production of food is not a novelty, this shit is the backbone of America
Good job. Greasing that u joint before use and every day will keep it alive. Way better than buying parts and having to replace it. Do about the same on my jeeps.
Hey Aaron I was just wondering how your sweet corn came out that you planted next to the shop I don't think you ever mentioned it or if you did I didn't catch it which would be normal lol 😆
You're absolutely right young lady, work smarter not harder. One of my quotes which doesn't apply to you but does to me, "if you wanna find the easy way of doing some thing, ask the fat guy. The fat guy didn't get fat by working hard he got fat by working smart "keep up the great videos, big hugs for you and yours from California. 👻
Erin you and your dad need invest in the lube shuttle grease gun check it out on TH-cam or on there website. It's a super product really user friendly when it comes to changing tubes. Way less messy.
Erin, I can't tell you how much it gladdens my heart to see you wipe off the Zerk grease fittings. I have seen so many farmers on TH-cam just jam the grease gun on a filthy fitting and pump away. I know it is a tedious mind numbing job but why inject dirt into a bearing. Great job!
Nice video .. I'm surprised you don't install grease banks on your machines for the amount of hours you work. I know it's better to look and see what your greasing especially looking for wear damage etc. .. ps I would be at home running the service trucks 😁 cracking work again mam 👍🏻 stay safe 🏴
That's one of the reasons I watch your videos, because you are more of a "real" farmer than most of these clowns on here. You actually get out there, put in the time, and do the work. You aren't just piddling around doing things that don't amount to a hill of beans. I operate a small beef cow farm in southern VA ( 20 cows) nothing real big, but I enjoy watching how the big midwest farms operate. Nothing like that around here. Keep up the good videos!
It’s nice to watch when you know what to do and how to do it! Keep up making good videos! I have used battery grease gun for a long time. It could be help for you as well. Okay there is hassle to keep batteries charged but other than that they are great help. I used to grease things often as well until I found more “sticky” grease. I believe the stickiness comes from water persistent. My chosen grease is s h e l l G a d u s S2 V220 (trying to not advertise…).
Ya know what I'm thinking? If you're the one handling the grease gun, the rest of us can shut up and admire the way you do your work. My dad was an earthmoving contractor. EVERY morning in the summers, I got to get up at 5:30 and go with him out to the jobsite and get the machines ready. Greasing the fittings, checking fluids, draining sediment bowls (you can ask your dad about that one), fueling up, and getting the machines fired up and warmed up so when the crew showed up at 7, the machines were ready to go. And that involved laying on the ground to get some of those fittings or to check some gear box fluid levels. NOBODY ever said a word about how I did my job because they didn't want it nor were they willing to get that dirty right off the bat to start their day. What some people don't know, they don't know. Unfortunately, if anyone is going to be the adult in that conversation, it will have to be you because you're the one who knows what she's doing. Great stuff as always Miss Erin, keep up the good work. And if you get the chance, check out Miss Abby's work over at Todd Family Farm. For some dumb reason when I watch either of your channels, I think of the other.
people are so quick to judge others. so you put something on the ground to lay on.. thats smart to do. but those people who judge you ask them why they put down card broad when they lay on concrete in the shop.. But hope harvest keeps rolling along.
Erin gets more done in an hour than I do all day. God Bless the American farmer.
@BrightForest I do....it was said in jest.
God bless our farmers and families... especially smart respectful young Ladies like you!!!!!!
I am sure your dad appreciates you and your hard work. ❤
If not, he should...
When I was a kid, I used that vary kind of grease gun with John Deere grease for my John Deere 420 and F930 lawn tractors.
Yes 👏!! Alway’s!! Alway’s ! Work Smart 🎉🎉🎉 NotHarder 😢😢😢😢😢 !!
Erin your work ethic is out of this world Farming is no joke wish there were more women like you out there ur parents definitely raised u Right !!
Morning Erin you are doing a great job my hat is off to you and every farmer even on a bad day you get the job done
You're an amazing young lady and the country should be proud of you !!
We’ve all been a holes for leaving the grease gun empty excellent pro tip thank you Erin!❤
I'm totally and completely entranced...you know how to change a grease cartridge. That's so awesome.
Hey Erin. Another great video. You tell’m girl!!!! Work smarter, not harder!!! Lol. Always check you grease gun before you start. Great job on your maintenance. Great job greasing the cart Erin
Good morning Sunshine 🌞🕊️✨💫🌠🌟
Hi Erin thanks for what you do!!! FARMER STRONG 💪 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I used a small tarp. I had to get under vehicles everyday in a non shop environment: so using a tarp to keep water or mud or just dirt off was an everyday need.
Those large contractor size trash bags are great also, keep one in each vehicle in case I need to change a tire etc
When u change the grease cartridge u can pull the handle all the way out & there is a groove/slot to lock it in to drop a new cartridge in....but, ur way works good too...:))
Laughing because I feel your frustration about the grease gun, for I have been that "A-hole" too...😁
Another great video
oh good morning erin holbert and injoying your day at the farm.

I agree with you! I don't want to lay on wet ground either, that is a smart way to get the job done!
You are a smart lady, Erin. Keep up the good work and the wonderful videos!
oh your a real farmer no doubt! good luck with harvest.

You are a very powerful creator..... Never forget.... Beautiful alignment
You’re awesome , raised right !!!
Thanks!!! for your videos keep them coming!!!
Another great vid! I allwsys kept a grease gun and tubes behind the screens of our 3020 and 4020. Doesn't help when the guns mty. At least more grease was handy! Have fun and be safe
Good tour of your day today
Great video Erin
Hey Erin, I do the exact same thing you do. Like you said, work smarter not harder
Work smart pays you have great wisdom ,as for grease guns they are always empty when you get to a hard spot or you have just two more grease fittings
Smart idea. 2 use the stadium blanket🙂
That was Cool, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for such videos, I never knew.
Working smart is just....well...smart!! And I can relate to the grease gun situation!!!
Why aren't the cartridges bigger?

Thank you Erin
Amazing, i love watching your videos Erin Holbert
Thanks for show that it's not all just sitting the tractor all of the time.
Hey erin, thanks for the video ✌
Respect Erin✌🏾🙏🙏

I believe a battery powered grease gun is in order here! LOL They are so much more simple to change cartridges and use.
Good job !

Grab a few after the election.
GREAT material.
They work awesome for setting down on the ground for laying on it. Light & comfortable.
As an added bonus, they usually have very high quality T-Posts.
I use them to set my on.
You look darn good in the morning young lady.
"Work smarter not harder" I like it
I had an old air mattress I carried with me, your right why work on the wet or muddy ground, work smarter not harder is right
Lol Erin! This man who is also a farmer does the same thing for the same reason. Who wants to wear wet clothes around the rest of the day after you grease a piece of machinery. No judgement here! Smarter is better!
When we upgraded our grain cart, one of the best things they did was put in grease banks!
Regular posting... yay 🙏

NEVER JUDGEMENT FROM TEXAS .... VERY PROUD OF Y'ALL
The glamours life of a farmer. LOL Don't worry Erin, when you get my age your bones will be glad you used that blanket to lay on. 😉
NIce woek! Thank you!
I've been there and done that 1000 times. Pro tip is right on the money. Love it!!
Super interesting , thanks .
Maybe a workout mat might be handy to lay on.
Maybe not practical though .
Hii Erin Felix here from Ireland over here in Nebraska helping friends for 12 days with harvest driving a case tractor love looking at your videos back home!!
working smarter not harder.....life is better that way
I bought a new plastic hog sorting panel to throw down on the ground if I have to crawl under equipment. it works good.
Pretty good video, it was funny, just before you said it, I was thinking, make sure you got grease, at least a cartridge
Your doing a great job. Stay dry is my moto.
Hello Ms.Erin & thx 4 sharing today! Great job hitting all the zerks & so smart to use that blanket, after all why lay in that wet fodder. Hope U had a safe happy day! 🙂
Very good Video 👍👍
Hey from Maine Erin❗️🌹 🌈🙏
I can totally relate to the grease gun running out issue!! I've done that numerous times. grrr. Lol
What additive do you use in the fuel?
I remember back in the day, when my father was a wheat farmer, and the feeling of being completely independent from the 9 to 5 humdrum of the world and knowing that I was gonna get paid regardless, it was a nice feeling, but the production of food is not a novelty, this shit is the backbone of America
i admire you erin keep it up

One negative comment out of hundreds of positive ones don't even need to be acknowledged. Ignore the negatives and keep on farming !

Erin, Always enjoy your videos. I sympathize with you on the grease gun. Only every time I craw in a tight spot the grease gun runs out 🙄
Erin, you need one of those grease machines that run on batteries. Dewalt or some other name. Enjoy the videos
thank you
Had I worked smarter than harder 20 years ago,I wouldn't be wishing I had grease fittings!!
Erin, they make battery powered grease guns. Milwaukee FYI.
Erin you and your dad need invest in the lube shuttle grease gun check it out on TH-cam or on there website. It's a super product really user friendly when it comes to changing tubes. Way less messy.
Erin did you get anew auger installed already?

Such a intelligent woman
Glad to see you greasing the bearings, lubrication is the key to eliminating down time.

Grease guns are like staplers, you can not tell they are empty until they are actually empty.
