How about a minigame where you test out tr heir security features by putting on a monster mask and using paint arrows/sword to "kill" the protectors. Then if you get to the village leader, they are a miniboss. Defeat them and they will approve further upgrades, recognizing the necessity
I’d like to add something the topic of adding a gate to Hateno. When you fight Revali in Chapter 2 of Age of Calamity, there’s an outpost and gate that’s blocking the bridge to the actual Rito Village. If the developers wanted to, they could actually add that outpost and gate to the village’s defenses in Tears of the Kingdom.
I'd like to see Castle Town start to be rebuilt and some of the smaller settlements come back, in addition to continuing to grow the main cities. Maybe there's also a Skyloft? Or a Minish town? Maybe they start to rebuild on the Great Plateau? I love cities in Zelda.
In botw1 they actually planned to include the minish, but the idea was scrapped a while into development. There are even pictures with link infront of a minish town. I would have loved it if that mechanic would have reappeared 😞
Tarry town has a weird layout for a city, it could only grow if you build platforms attached to the cliff or in the lake with deep columns to serve as structure, but it would be nice to have a sort of "Milk bar" in a reference to Majora's mask
We know Hyrule Castle is most likely getting a Ganondorf makeover, but I thought of adding Guardian laser weapons (like the one on Vah Medoh) onto Rito Village's top, making it a death tower.
Ganondorf: "Reinforced gates? Archer towers? You guys have no sense of style. I added vaulted ceilings, bay windows and LED floodlights I can control with my phone!"
The biggest improvement I could see Zora's Domain benefitting from would be converting that long bridge leading into the place into something that can easily be retracted. Because, you know, it's pretty difficult to invade the place if the only direct path leading into the domain can just be "cut off" immediately. Surely, Purah could help them with the technical stuff.
About Gerudo Town, nothing about the fact that the throne room has absolutely NO wall behind Riju? Seriously, it's just completely wide open to the desert behind her. I'm always amazed that the Yiga don't just go back there and snipe Riju, or at least Buliara if the throne itself is too well protected.
Because generally the ladies of Gerudo would destroy them. In theory, they have a very capable army when they're working together and not wandering alone in the desert getting dehydrated, or crying at the local pub over a handsome voe.
I was thinking this video was more for improvements to villages/settlements rather than defense improvements. Honestly, I'd add: A smithing shop to repair items, banks to store items/rupees, fishing holes, a quest/notice board (could run special DLC events triggered by download or amiibo), public baths/hot springs, more complex kitchens/bake shops, and lastly the ability for Link to farm/harvest crops & livestock. Slightly unrelated, but underwater exploration needs to return for the sequel. This would tie in very well to secret underground passageways and could be a cool exploration/gate mechanic for Link to develop.
this is very similar to an idea i had earlier this month: basically a hyrule animal crossing where the whole thing is like the tarrey town sidequest. the goal is to rebuild the destroyed settlements across hyrule by providing materials and finding other characters to live there and help. the castle and castle town are the big end goal restoration projects, but you'd also bring other settlements back to life like mabe village + the ranch, rauru settlement, and other ruins across central hyrule. adding expansions and reinforcements to preexisting villages would be a part of this too! for gameplay, i imagine having strategy to it by being able to play as multiple characters who have different strengths. for example, link is a well balanced character who can do a bit of everything, while zelda is better at negotiating trade deals and obtaining raw plants/animals but isn't at successful at getting monster parts. playing as sidon allows for water travel + resources (particularly underwater stuff) and has greater success at collecting fish. the same would go for all the other "second champions" and their corresponding village/element. you can play as one character and assign the other characters to do tasks simultaneously (though with a lesser success rate than if you were to play as them manually). also link is able to expand his house, keep horses there, and start a little garden :] in my head this is its own little game but could easily be integrated into totk on a lesser scale or as DLC to either of the games, and i would have so much fun with it! considering how popular the tarrey town quest is, i'm hoping for more like it in totk :]
@@anvilmania Maybe they are going in the direction of making exploration even better and not intensifying combat but they could pick up some cues from Age of Calamity's success and try to include some memorable battle moments, since they have some interesting fight mechanics to start from.
Cool ideas! I’d like some more shops too. Maybe a blacksmith to sell or possibly repair weapons and shields, maybe a tavern/restaurant place you can buy and learn meals and recipes, some shops with skill/game challenges, and maybe a few random things like that dye shop place. Also I think having the races other than Hylians wondering around the world and a few in each other’s settlements.
TBH I have long been obsessed with the development of post-Calamity Hyrule. What locations are most likely to be resettled? What about new settlements? Which trade routes will be reinforced and how? What's the import/export situation of the existing towns and how might new towns effect supply and demand? Who might want to attract tourists and how will they do so? What areas might be logged to provide building materials and what areas might become farms? What infrastructure projects might they undertake? How the heck could Tarry Town expand, where do they get their food, and who's patronizing all those shops beside Link? (I love Tarry Town but I have QUESTIONS.) Seriously, I have put a ridiculous amount of thought into this stuff over the past few years, but almost no one seems to be talking about it.
I think the the settlements need to become bigger and there would be a bigger variety of shops. I also think that stables will become mini towns with a few buildings like shops.
Honestly, it is weird that you mention it, it’s odd no settlement has gates, im guessing monsters and guardians have only rlly been an issue out in the wild since the great calamity? Which i dont blame em, most of the settlements dont look like they have any fighters at all
Some of the dialogue throughout the game supports this conclusion; It's very likely that most of the monster problems plaguing the ruins of the kingdom are quite recent happenings.
I still find this really odd. I vaguely remember that Aonuma talked about NPC behaviour before the release. Basically the main point that he made was about NPCs being meant not to wander from the villages at night because of the dangers... so on one hand there are no walls/palisades/gates that would keep the villages safer than any other area but then again we got loads and loads of NPCs who wander about completely ignoring the day-night-cycle.
I would definitely argue that Lurelin is by far the most vulnerable village in the game and Kakariko is actually quite safe. Yes Kakariko is in a basin, but it's surrounded on all sides by step cliffs that would be difficult for any army to climb all along the outside of the village so it has natural defensive walls in the land. Put up a couple gates at the entrances and watch towers along the cliffs with archers and siege weapons and it becomes an natural death trap for any army trying to invade. Unlike Kakariko Lurelin is surrounded by cliffs that are easily accessible from outside the village requiring you to basically build a large fortified gate at the main entrance. You would also need two additional large fortified gates spanning each side of the village along the beach. On top of that it would also require a robust naval defense to intercept sea faring threats.
Hyrule Castle Town: - On the Great Plateau where the old site is. Since it's obviously a no-go to rebuild the current castle, I keep really hoping peoples from across Hyrule would start building up there to keep themselves safe. The varying terrain would make it very habitable and appealing for any of Hyrule's races, and it would be cool to see them build something that covers a lot of ground, with a focus on being self-sufficient, even building up defenses... and pylons. They're going to need a lot of pylons.
Imagine like a mini hyrule near the stasis shrine a grotto for the gorons in the cold area is rito teritory then the ruins turn sandy and hot because of some floating rock formations and the little watery area becomes more flooded and places like the temple of town and the forest and the shrine of ressurection are hylian grounds
I REALLY hope that rito village turns into a cool floating island with huts hanging from beneath and the major or something on top together with a watchtower and pad to start flying off that would be SO cool tbh
Kakariko's environment does provide good natural defenses, it reminds me of the Eyrie and the Bloody Gate from ASOIAF franchise. Both are high on hilly mountainous terrain and have narrow entrances, this makes it almost impossible for an army to successfully attack.
When I read the title, I didn't think that the video would be based mainly on the defense of villages, because I didn't really see the need for it. Let me explain: in BotW, I think it is mentioned that monsters are afraid of villages. Moreover, with the defeat of Ganon, why would the inhabitants be afraid of a potential attack? However, if these upgrades are sidequests, therefore achievable after the awakening of Ganondorf, I understand the implementation of structures. For the video, I was expecting village upgrades for the well-being and comfort of the inhabitants, such as the opening of new stores, new houses, new stories (maybe even the continuation of sidequests from BotW), but also the construction of new villages, the restoration of old ones... There are many possibilities! I think this could be the subject of a second video on village improvements. Anyway, it was a very interesting video with a good analysis of the villages surroundings, and adapted defense buildings.
What I would like to do is have visible Zora houses at or under the water line so it doesn't look like they all just go to sleep in the Royal Pools of the I hesitate to call it a palace but I don't know what else to call it, Zora's domain is beautiful but it hardly looks like a settlement more like one giant art piece, so I'd like to have that fixed. I'd also like a few bigger boats in Lurelin village preferably ones that slightly resemble the pirate ship from Wind Waker but on a smaller and more realistic scale obviously. The Goron Village I 100% agree with you on completely. And I love the idea of a secret place in kakariko Village nobody knows about preferably behind the waterfall. I would also like the idea of a second floor to The Stables, I think that like having a ground floor meeting area where they are would be nice but also maybe like a second smaller ring just above the first one where "important stuff" could be, maybe Beetle would be there on the second floor at night along with a local Merchant who doesn't wander. I would also recommend a second building at the Oasis Outpost outside of Gerudo desert, there's only one building at that Oasis right now and I think they should be at least two. And I kind of wished there was a bit more to explore around the Deku Tree, make it it look more like a place where the Koroks live then just....that... in Wind Waker we know they had an actual Village before it became the Forbidden Woods and I would have enjoyed seeing what an uncorrupted korok Village would look like. My last big change would probably be an underground upgrade for Link's house that you know all those mods have where you can store gear and cook inside the kitchen, other then those changes I agree with every call you've made for the most part, though I will admit some of your decisions make Hyrule sound almost militaristic but I understand the reason behind them
Upgrades and improvements?? I actually would like to see restorations. I want to see Hyrule Castle town restored just like everyone else, but there are other restorations I would like to see. (although if Ganondorf is popping the castle out of the ground I don' t know what good restoring Castle Town would do) The other ruins, however, that I think would be cool with a restoration, Deja Village, Tabantha Village, Hyrule Garrison, Exchange Town, Mabe Village, and the entryway to the great plateau along with the old settlements up there, plus the Temple of Time, just to name a few. Do you think they would restore old parts of Hyrule???
Sort of depends; I don't think there'd be much in the way of restoration, but moreso patching up some of the ruined buildings with wood and cloth in order to make some form of shelter.
This video is brilliant! I wish everything here was done. More building sidequests would've been awesome! As long as they aren't tedious like some parts of Link's house and Tarrey Town sidequests were.
I think it was in one of did you know gaming videos where I heard that originally there was a kind of minigame where you could build houses similar to the ones in Tarrey town but it was finally scrapped, maybe we could at least personalize our home just like in the champion ballad we get the final photo from kass
I would think it would go along the path of military training. At least for the Hateno villagers. Instead of pitch forks to defend the village, somebody might want to invest in swords, bows and shields.
Terry town should have two gates with towers. One at the start of the bridge and one at the edge of town. This way, you can let enemies flood in only to close the gates back up and leave them vulnerable on the bridge to archers in the towers.
How about blacksmiths like in Skyrim? It would be good for the world building. There should be someone in each settlement for maintaining the weapons in that settlement. They technically already have blacksmiths for repairing the champions’ weapons by how the dialogue between the NPC who the replacement weapon is obtained from and Link is written in the text box. Just expand it to the amiibo exclusive weapons from BotW and give those weapons their own dedicated inventory slots like the Master Sword. I don’t care about them having bonus effects. Just have the amiibo weapons have their durability work similar to the Master Sword. For the Twilight Princess Bow of Light, the Goddess Sword, and Fierce Deity Sword; just give them the recharge like the Master Sword did in BotW (maybe with more recharge time). For the others, have them need a trip to a blacksmith to get sharpened (for the swords) or repaired (for the Wind Waker Hero’s Shield and boomerang) for them to be usable again. It’s a hassle to constantly reset BotW to tap the same amiibo repeatedly, only to get repeats of the armor pieces multiple times before getting a replacement amiibo weapon. Another way to make blacksmiths useful is to have them be weapon merchants for the weapons exclusive to the settlement they live in. And every time a weapon breaks, have the player be able to obtain weapon fragments to take to a blacksmith to sell for rupees or as material required for forging a weapon like with Cherry in Robbie’s lab for obtaining ancient weapons.
I’ve been thinking for a while there should be a new town similar to your settlement in AC Valhalla that you can upgrade and grow. It’s a great concept that could be cleaned up and made great
hi, just a friendly reminder here that Lurelin people have made their lifebuoy, their houses has always been literally in a a huge boat shape, so just filling in there. thanks. people in Nintendo actually do their homework well imho.
I believe that in order to get more help, new people will come from the sea and maybe desert to populate hyurle so lurein village could become a big harbor settlement in the short term as an entry point yo all the new immigrants coming to hyurle.
i cant wait till we can join the gurudo army. the leader basically said we need to kill gannon then we can join her army and im really hoping they dont scrap it in the sequal
You don't want me to tell you my improvements for every settlement HG. Ok. Same as yours, but add some catapults for the open settlements. Alright, for Kakariko. Same as yours, but they can pour boiling oil into the valleys... just fantastic. See ya Dude.
Doesn't look to have changed, but maybe some camps will be there filled with people trying to open up the long blocked off doors into the fortress itself for whatever reason.
As much as it makes sense, just adding defensive posts around won't do anything for gameplay it's just cosmetic. What about different shops, more than just side quests, a little more hidden lore to find. Actual gameplay enhancements. Maybe a la the Tarry Town quest you could build defenses for an inbound attack on these villages, but I wouldn't get anything out of most of your additions. Good strategic thinking, but not much substance for content.
Gerudo town already has basements , the Gerudo males are forced to live in them. I always wondered why Sheikah would turn without reason , and now I know. They are Gerudo males and husbands , taken into the Sheikah way as societal outcasts. Ninja are good at calculated stealth and bombs , not arrogant aggression and blades.
Maybe since zelda return before she disappears again she helps do more research on Shikha technology so more shrine like and guardian like weapons and structures and way points around hyrule as well as stronger Shikha tech in the villages it would be really cool and maybe that new green stuff will act as protection for the villages . Great video btw I rlly enjoyed it!
Wish the inventory was limited to like 6 weapon slots and 6 armor slots and you would have to buy and build a house/stash in every village and make the buildings way more customizable. Would also make preparation and planning of fights and quests more strategic, instead of a huge stockpile in items in inventory.
What upgrades and improvements would you make? 🤔

There were supposed to be Minish in BotW, but the Nintendo team decided it would be hard to make the Minish stand out in BotW's Hyrule.

I think it was in one of did you know gaming videos where I heard that originally there was a kind of minigame where you could build houses similar to the ones in Tarrey town but it was finally scrapped, maybe we could at least personalize our home just like in the champion ballad we get the final photo from kass
I would remove all the bridges from Rito Village all together because the rito can fly to their home.
"The gate treatment"
I don't know why that was so funny.
I would like to see the Deku Scrubs return with their own town. Maybe they could be underground? They did used to live in Grottos.
Well, i expected more of an City Design Video from the Thumbnail, not a defense one, but this was still fun
Ah damn, sorry if it came off the wrong way. Glad you still enjoyed!
I want that Hyrule Gamer - Not Just Bikes collab
@@CZsWorld I second this request. Maybe a 1. of April Video?
What about upgrades and improvements for Korok Forest? That's technically a settleement.
It's pretty solid already lol
They could probably just add the gates from Age of Calamity that are closed shut during your first fight with Astor.
I would think it would go along the path of military training. At least for the Hateno villagers. Instead of pitch forks to defend the village, somebody might want to invest in swords, bows and shields.
Age of calamity has some great outposts for some of the missions in these settlements that would totally work
Glad I wasn’t the only one pointing that out XD
Every settlement should get at least one modified Guardian that manually operated.
I laugh when I see a bokoblin camps right above the villages when its “ the apocalypse “ 😂
This is such a cool concept! Love the video man
they need to add a bolson building like warehouse or factory.
I'm betting on a warehouse or maybe a full on cargo service, though Central Hyrule is definitely staying more or less abandoned.
this is a really niche idea and that is exactly why I like it!
Maybe a Goron Blacksmith in Goron City for fixing your weapons and/or shields.
Terry town should have two gates with towers. One at the start of the bridge and one at the edge of town. This way, you can let enemies flood in only to close the gates back up and leave them vulnerable on the bridge to archers in the towers.
Every village should have some sort of blacksmith for weapon upgrades and armor upgrades
There would be no need for the Great Fairies then
@@Anonymous-bi5pv there was only one great fairy in twilight princess y do u think that is?
These videos make me feel so cozy 💤
Great video. Stuff like this just gets me even more hyped for the sequel!
Love to hear that!
It’s a great concept that could be cleaned up and made great
hi, just a friendly reminder here that Lurelin people have made their lifebuoy, their houses has always been literally in a a huge boat shape, so just filling in there. thanks. people in Nintendo actually do their homework well imho.
i heard you mention impa and needing to escape, like she would ever leave that village in danger.
I believe that in order to get more help, new people will come from the sea and maybe desert to populate hyurle so lurein village could become a big harbor settlement in the short term as an entry point yo all the new immigrants coming to hyurle.
It's a good day when hyrule gamer uploads
Heck yeah!
i cant wait till we can join the gurudo army. the leader basically said we need to kill gannon then we can join her army and im really hoping they dont scrap it in the sequal
I love accurate worldbuilding
🤔- I honestly don't know...
> Maybe had more shops or NPCs with quests?
I'm kinda hoping that Hyrule is getting reconstructed bit by bit, mainly so that it doesn't feel like the same map from Breath of the Wild
Merry Christmas.
Hey my lunch box was in the video! Nice! 😁
Indeed!
1:30 Yes you are correct.
What if a town was built around dulling peaks, like an upgraded stable with a horse barn and stuff like that?
I don't see why; It's just asking for security risks.
Where are the divine beasts in totk? You said in a previous video that ancient tech could be taboo, but you can’t really throw away a megaword.
Dismantle, Bury again or re purpose
You don't want me to tell you my improvements for every settlement HG. Ok. Same as yours, but add some catapults for the open settlements. Alright, for Kakariko. Same as yours, but they can pour boiling oil into the valleys... just fantastic. See ya Dude.
Thanks good sir!
Always wondering what will happen yo Akkala Citadels in TotK
Doesn't look to have changed, but maybe some camps will be there filled with people trying to open up the long blocked off doors into the fortress itself for whatever reason.
As much as it makes sense, just adding defensive posts around won't do anything for gameplay it's just cosmetic. What about different shops, more than just side quests, a little more hidden lore to find. Actual gameplay enhancements. Maybe a la the Tarry Town quest you could build defenses for an inbound attack on these villages, but I wouldn't get anything out of most of your additions. Good strategic thinking, but not much substance for content.
We should have a setting to change your sensitivity not a lot but just enough
*sad korok forest sounds*
Shoutout to the Discord Family ✨💜✨
hell yeah!!
💜
rito village literally has open houses 😂
What about koror village
Towers gates soldiers
yay!
That seems like a lot of wishful thinking.
Fix castle town!
Yeah, not happening.
I hated Bolson. He was weird.
Wish the inventory was limited to like 6 weapon slots and 6 armor slots and you would have to buy and build a house/stash in every village and make the buildings way more customizable. Would also make preparation and planning of fights and quests more strategic, instead of a huge stockpile in items in inventory.
Disagree; That sounds very tedious.
Like what is Brothels..???
First 💜✨
Yay! 💜
