I think my favorite region has to be Faron. It feels like it's own world tucked away in the corner of the map with how different it is from the rest of the map and the fact that nothing in the main storyline really pushes you to go there makes it feel more discreet. And Lurelin village is so beautiful and has a nice vibe to it that really reminds me why I love this game. I do also really like Akkala, it's very beautiful and has the greatest video game side quest ever in it being Tarrey Town.

Ight story time: The first time I played Botw I skipped dialogue and didn't really stick to the dirt paths, I eventually made it to Rito village (my first Divine Beast) from an angle so that I didn't see the bridge or the stable near it, so I thought "wow I need to glide and climb my way to Rito village huh?". So I did.
After a LOT of tries I miraculously climbed my way to Rito village with 1 stamina wheel and 1/5th of the second one. I felt to good accomplishing that.......then I realized there was a bridge there....
I also didn't know you could cook with all of the cooking pots, I thought you needed to find a specific one in a village.

    #15 - Gerudo
Yeah there’s just nothing too memorable about it. One thing that’s cool about it though is that it has the tallest Sheikah Tower of the fifteen, and it sticks out from a bottomless pit.
    #14 - Great Plateau
I definitely hear you on your reasons for putting it on the top. Personally for me, I think it’s a wonderful tutorial area, but still compared to the other 13 areas, just nothing too special about it, other than the fact that its where it all began.
    #13 - Lake
Yeah, there wasn’t a whole lot to do, but I honestly really loved Lake Hylia and Bridge of Hylia. Watching the dragon fly out of the lake for the first time was amazing. Also it has the thicc horse.
    #12 - Ridgeland
The Sheikah Tower is a freaking pain to climb, but the area is still nice. Big mushrooms, swamps, and the big blossom tree on Satori Mountain. It also has Thundra Plateau, which was sick.
    #11 - Woodland
Thyplo Ruins, Korok Forest, and the Forgotten Temple are awesome, even if a lot of areas are empty in this area. Although it does have the Tempered Power shrine and I will gladly light the monk who designed that trial on fire.
    #10 - Central
Who doesn’t have fond memories of running for your life from Guardians in this area? I enjoyed running around in the open field and slowly approaching Hyrule Castle.
    #9 - Hebra
There isn’t a lot to do, but that’s the point. It’s supposed to feel empty and abandoned because of how poor the living conditions are. I really like the atmosphere of this snowy region, and finding the Leviathan skeleton in that big icy cave was just exhilarating.
    #8 - Dueling Peaks
I love Kakariko Village, and I love walking between the dueling peaks. I have fond memories of getting a stunning view of Hyrule, while moving back and forth between the two twin memory shrines in frustration.
    #7 - Tabantha
AKA the area with the best music. Rito Village, attack on Vah Medoh, Vah Medoh Dungeon etc. Even if I found the Vah Medoh quest to be kinda disappointing as a whole, getting a view of the mountainous area from the dungeon is still a treat.
    #6 - Eldin
When I started the game and saw the volcano from the Great Plateau, my first thought was.. yep, I’m definitely gonna climb that. And it was hell. I loved it. Pretty much the same deal with Tabantha. Didn’t care much for the Vah Rudania quest, but climbing the volcano, talking to the Gorons, and the music in the dungeon were definitely highlights for me. I also found this area had the best shrines overall.
    #5 - Faron
The tropical jungle with the Zonai Ruins was such a pleasure to walk through. Finding Lurelin Village was also a lovely treat, and Eventide Island was maybe my favorite side quest in the whole game. (I somehow ended up at Eventide Island early in the game because I thought that’s where you had to go for the “Hero’s Cache” side quest LMAO)
    #4 - Hateno
I just love this area so much for so many reasons. Hateno Village, Mount Lanayru, Link’s House, Lanayru Promenade, freeing the dragon at the Spring of Wisdom, being surrounded by all of the mountains, it just feels so comfortable, yet exciting at the same time.
    #3 - Wasteland
Vah Naboris was my favorite dungeon in the game. Solving these challenging puzzles while taking a stroll across the dunes of the desert was awesome. Not to mention Gerudo Town is awesome and host to some of the best side quests in the game. And riding the sand seals across the landscape is such a treat as well.
    #2 - Akkala
What can I say? The visuals in this area are out of this world and there’s so many awesome locations in this area. The autumn trees, Akkala Citadel Ruins, Robbie’s Research Lab, Skull Lake, Tarrey Town, the Labyrinth Island, god I would happily live here.
#1 - Lanayru - Just the most memorable area to me. The rain, Zora’s Domain, the path to Zora’s Domain were all overwhelmingly gorgeous and I loved reading all the different Stone monuments and learning about the Zora’s history. Also the Vah Ruta quest was the most memorable part about the game to me. The dungeon was haunting, the divine beast battle blew me away, the story behind it was the most tragic, and all of the Zora citizens had some special story with Link. I remember going bananas in this area with the Zora Armor because of all the waterfalls. This was pretty much when the game went from great to awesome for me.

Lanayru is definitely amazing. I remember I hated it at first cuz of the rain and i thought it was a dark and ugly place from the outside. I didn’t know there was a path that I had to take with Sidon. Instead I went in from the south. That was a big oof. I hated it because of how tough it was to get in from there, I was dumb lol. Once I did the battle with the beast it was so epic and once the rain cleared, I immediately changed my mind about it. It was so gorgeous that I wanted to start a 2nd play through after beating the game JUST so I can get into this area the right way. It was so worth it
But my favorite would have to be eldin and gerudo. Idk why but I love the look of hot regions, especially how the background gets all fuzzy from the heat. I guess the cold areas in the game were more common and I got used to them already. The volcano and the lava already explains why I love it so much and the gerudo’s divine beast mission was the best one out of all for me. I love how expansive it is, it makes you feel like your cast-awayed and desperate for a noble pursuit lol
Honorable mentions have to be the Akkala, it’s just so beautiful. And of course, great plateau, I had a blast with this region like everyone else.

I don’t think that enough people appreciate how amazing the Great Plateau is at being a tutorial. When I first played, it never even felt like a tutorial, but here’s some things that make it great:
    - Just outside each of the shrines, there’s some form of treasure you can obtain by using the rune from that shrine. This teaches the player that these runes are useful outside of shrines.
    - To reach the Cryonis shrine, you have to move through a really cold area with icy water. This teaches the player about environmental damage, and the dangers of cold water.
    - The shrine of resurrection is great too. The barrels show that you can pick up and throw some things to break them. The new player will likely sprint out of stamina then, and then it recharges just in time for you to reach the wall that teaches climbing.
    - Reaching the magnesis shrine from the tower teaches the player how swimming functions.
    - Reaching the stasis shrine shows that in order to climb high, the player has to manage stamina effectively.
    - Reaching the bomb shrine shows that there are some enemies that it’s better for the player to run from.
    - If the player runs into the stone talus, that shows there are mini bosses in unexpected places.

Honestly while there are parts of Faron that I don't love, Lurelin Village might just be my favorite area in the game. The tropical feel really hits home for me and the relaxed atmosphere of the village and the area around it means that I've spent hours just roaming around, pretending to be a villager living a quiet life. It's so isolated that you forget that there's an evil force destroying the world or that there are gargantuan machines wreaking havoc on other regions. The fish and crabs are fun to hunt, the rafts mean that you can send the entire day at sea if you wish, and the beaches absolutely run with the game's gorgeous graphics. After that, it's a dead heat between Akkala, Hebra, and Gerudo Desert. I could go on for hours about those too but for everyone's sake I'll stay quiet

I like to admire the visible underwater details in botw personally. Like the giant flowers in the waters of skull lake and malanyas fairy fountain, or the giant corals near certain shores, and the ruins beneath the waters that surround the ancient tree stumps. Also how the ridgeland tower has that lake and inside has the giant mushroom platforms too. Personally if I was swimming around stuff so clear below me I'd be kinda angst but in the game it's just breathtaking.

I’m a diehard Lynel hunter so my favorite regions are the Hebra, Akkala, and Eldin for sure. For anyone else that hunts them too it’s an amazing route, you can start snowballing through those two Lynels near Skull Lake (Akkala), then go through Eldin’s Flank (There will be 3 higher level, first to change color, lynels there), then once you finish the traverse will drop you on that trail that goes through Hebra, which if you’re up for it you can defeat those three Lynels in that main valley area as well.
There’s also a traverse past one of the Lynels in the Hebra region (at the very top of the map, it’s small valley that goes along the edge of the world) that’s a pretty solid loot route as well. Most of the enemies along this route (including that Lynel route) are always couple colors higher than what you are so they give some pretty good drops. Then at the end of that route there’s another Lynel in the area as well. Sorry for the wall of text, but I definitely recommend it if you’re a combat addict like me..

    • @justinbombach9873
      @justinbombach9873 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There's also two lynels (one with a spear, one with a different weapon that I can't remember) just south-west of the great plateau
And while you're near the plateau, you can do the silver one there :P (it's always silver, no matter how far you are into the game or whether you just started, but it only appears in master mode)

    - The Spiral Island, where you have to carry a ball to the center for a shrine
    - Not one, but TWO stables!
    - Lots of gorgeous hills for you to shield surf on
    - The graveyard of dozens of Guardians who rushed the Citadel, full of ancient parts to loot
    - The Spring of Power
    - Skull Lake, and everyone's favorite shady salesman: Kilton!
    - The Akkala Ancient Tech Lab with Robbie and Cherry

Since I see no one talking about it I'll just write it here
In Japanese, "Hate" is the extremity, the limit and "no" is used to link two words. So Hateno Village means Village of the limit(s)
And I'll add that in the French version, it's named "Elimith", so when you say "village d'Elimith" it sounds like "village des limites" (limits village)

13: Ridgeland I don't like the Lightning area but other than that it's fine, Satori mountain bumps it up a bit.
12: Central, the field is very bland but the guardians are fun and Hyrule Castle pushes it from last place.
11: Wasteland Gerudo Town is cool and attacking Vah Noboris is one of my favorite parts in the game, but I don't see the thrill in the desert, but there is also Moldugas which are fun
10: Woodland Korok forest is amazing and Typhlo Ruins is fun, so is the forgotten temple, but after that is done there's not much to do.
9: Dueling Peaks the Dueling Peaks mountains were an amazing sight and I love Kakariko Village, and I guess Fort Hateno is cool, but it's just hills and fields, however I do like the pillars surrounding Kakariko.
8: Eldin Looking at Vah Rudania is so cool and venturing through a volcano is cool, and I like Gorons but it's a meh region.
7: Great Plateau, a amazing tutorial and so fun to explore early in the game.
6: Tabantha I like the hills and... it's all because of Rito Village, my favorite Village in the game.
5: Hebra, makes for good sights and its fun to shield surf and ragdoll link there and it's also so big.
4: Akkala, I like the feeling of fall, and Akkala Citadel is one of the best spots in the game, and also Tarrey Town was fun.
3: Hateno, one of my favorite moments in the game was Naydra, Hateno Village was the first Village I found even before Kakariko and I remember not leaving it for a week or so.
2: Lanayru, Zora's domain is beautiful and I like how the stones glow, also Lanayru bay is fun and I don't know why but I like the peninsula, but the rain isn't fun.
1: Faron, I really like the rainforest, and Lurelin Village was the second Village I found. I like the beach and Lake Floria is a beautiful spot, Eventide is the best side quest.

    15. Woodland (-1): One cool tree and nothing else.
    14. Ridgeland (-1): Thunder, Kass, and Satori, all surrounded by not a lot else.
    13. Gerudo Highlands (+2): Small, but some cool mysteries here and there.
    12. Lake Region (-2): Pretty diverse, but some parts are boring to traverse.
    11. Lanayru (+1): Pros: Zora lore, Sidon, and the coast. Cons: Rain, boring summit, swamp.
    10. Eldin (-2): Some wasted space due to the mountain, but it's unique and fun to relax in.
    9. Tabantha (-5): I like the bridges, and Rito Village has a very cool layout. It's just a little small.
    8. East Necluda/Hateno (-3): I find parts of it empty for some reason, but the mountain, that waterfall area, and some of Hateno are cool.
    7. Gerudo Wasteland (-4): Somewhat ironically I love the Desert for the little snowy area, and Gerudo Town is one of my favourite places to return to in the game. But it's a little empty and annoying to traverse.
    6. Faron Woods (=0): Big, diverse region. Lurelin and Eventide are the higlights. Some cool spots in the north, too.
    5. Central Hyrule (+4). I'm counting Hyrule Castle and a few cool shrines, which might be cheating. Also two stables, and it's a cool place to battle.
    4. Great Plateau (-3): Fully packed with cool stuff, although some of it is nothing special in the grand scheme of things. The tutorial is obviously one of the highlights of the game, though.
    3. West Necluda/Kakariko (+8): It's just where a lot of my early game memories are. Also, some cool story, and I really enjoyed everything about the dueling peaks.
    2. Akkala (=0): Granted, some parts are empty, but all of it is absolutely gorgeous. The lab with the fun flame quest, the coolest labyrinth, Tarrey Town, the coastline, and most importantly, Akkala Citadel Ruins, one of my favourite areas of the game.
    1. Hebra (+6): A vast, monotonous, snowy area seems like an odd choice for my favourite, but this place is filled with secrets. I just love how so many of the shrines have unique overworld puzzles. So many interesting locations, and the snowy fog and "music" fits the mysterious aura perfectly. And that's without even mentioning shield surfing.

I know it doesn't have anything to do with the subject of this video, but you playing the "spicy meatball" commercial clip got me to remember something. That commercial is from, I believe, the 70s. It was for an alkaseltzer type (or however it's spelt) product, but instead of helping sales on that, it boosted sales of pasta sauce. Kinda funny. Oh, and I definitely agree that the Great Plateau is the best. Also the best training area in any zelda game I've played.

Tbh any major snow mountain is pretty much the same to me, the only exception being the north labyrinth. My biggest issue was largely just based around the dead zones were you can’t travel much of any further, and a lot of unnecessary climbing when Shrines are in hidden in the crevice of a mountain where you only have like 1 good entry point.

with the environments getting more unique and exotic the further into the corners of the map you go, Akkala, Faron, Wasteland, and Hebra are my favourite locations. Wasteland and Akkala stretch to the horizon and really get the player thinking about what's beyond. Hebra and Faron make you feel like you're in a Disney movie.

Akkala is my favourite. It's so diverse and treacherous with the Citadel, Skull Lake, the four islands, the first labyrinth many players will find, and way too many Guardians. But then you also have things like Robbie's lab and Tarrey Town, which are so wacky and unique that they give it a more pleasant tone.

I love Akkala and it is easily my number one. As someone who didn't immediately go into Hyrule Field, this place was the first to inject the terror into my blood that is the Guardian Skywatcher. Not only are there trees in a beautiful shade of sunset orange, gently rolling hills and picturesque vistas but also many ruins to marvel at and venture to. The tower in the area itself is a ruin surrounded by ruins! There's also large cliffs, beautiful beaches and a lake shaped like a skull. This area is always my first stop on a new play through.

The transition sound and song used in the video really hits it home for me. Windwaker was pretty much my 1st Zelda game that I got to play where I currently live. Sadly, I'll be leaving in about 11 days to another country, so the song really brought me back to my childhood before I permanently leave this place behind.

I never realized I was in good company regarding Akkala's gorgeous scenery. I always loved this region for its contrasting colors, especially the green grass on the red geography. Although I the only good thing I can say about Tarrey Town is it's music.
