After watching all four videos about this, I concur with your opinions about the first four games in the series. However, Jak X was actually one of my favorite games in the series (wish it still worked). Jak 3 had some emotional moments, because I still haven't lost my dad and the mere thought of it chokes me up. But, I digress. Jak 1 and Jak 2 were awesome! Loved the open world platforming with seamlessly non-existent load times! With every platformer, that's what we didn't want was a load time, unless it was short and manageable. Jak and Daxter pretty much removes this problem (except for Jak X). And, never played The Lost Frontier, so I'm glad I spoiled the ending for myself. Actually, I got to try it out once, it wasn't TOO bad. With your mentioning the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed, to me the Dark Daxter section of the demo was kind of comparable to the Werehog in a few ways, which for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Sonic Unleashed is not a terrible thing to say by any means. Besides not having cool combos like the Werehog, Dark Daxter controlled rather nicely. Sure he was clumsy and cumbersome at times, but it was satisfactory to play as him. I STILL HATE THE LOST FRONTIER ALL THE SAME THOUGH. DON'T MISTAKE ME. Overall, I respect your opinion, but I GREW UP on all these great platformers in the PlayStation. Pretty late as a response but Naughty Dog, when they split into different teams, while one side was making an Uncharted game the other team created The last of us. The thing is, the team that created the last of us thought about creating another Jak game but decided not to because they felt like they didn't have any real ideas for the series and that every idea they had the team would look at the picture as a whole, seeing that it doesn't fit the characters, and they felt like they would be slapping on the Jak and Daxter name for marketing reasons. Instead Naughty Dog's other team scrapped the idea of a new Jak and Daxter game creating the Last of Us. Fun fact: Apparently there are unused cutscenes of the game and Jak had his original voice, just look for Jak and Daxter the lost frontier pre production there will be a footage of the game in it's beta.
Yeah, half of Naughty Dog actually started making this game back in 2006/7 or something for the PSP, but then abandoned it so they could all work on Uncharted, and gave it to High Impact Games instead.
+TheVGPras Fun Fact: They were going to make a PS3 Jak and Daxter game, but gave up on it, because they thought they weren't putting their hearts into it and they were just doing it for marketing reasons. But instead, they made The Last of Us

Jak looked a little too photorealistic.
To anyone who didn't play it- Daxter for PSP is good, but unfulfilling. It had a few really fun stages and a lot of cool mechanics that you didn't see in the other games. If I remember right, there's little to no shooting, but only because Daxter's fly-swatter is so cool and feels good to use. There's lots of secrets and great mini games that heavily reference blockbuster movies like The Matrix and the Lord of the Rings. As fun as the gameplay is though, it's all confined to essentially one and a half areas for an over-world to get to missions. To its credit, all of the missions feel vastly different and are fun to play as they introduce new mechanics that all come together in the last stage, where you have to use everything you've learned and unlocked from the previous missions, so a sense of progression IS there, but it's all rendered moot, when you come back to the over-world, where to me, everything falls apart. You get some of the metro area of Haven City, and part of the Waterfront Area. It's underwhelming compared to the other Jak games because of how limited it is. The other Jak games have a sense of overall progress as you unlock new areas, visit new places, and do certain things in the game to effect other areas of the game, allowing you to go back and play in a new area of a zone you've already visited and played through. In Daxter though, you only get the two areas, and doing missions only allows you to unlock more missions. In the end, Daxter is a solid game, but its Achilles' Heel is that it's really only a piece of duct tape to explain what happened during the 2 years Jak spent in prison at the beginning in Jak 2. You could seriously side-step even needing to make a game to fix the 2 year hole in the plot by just saying: Daxter got a job. And that's pretty much all that happened. No Kyra, no Tess, no Torn, it's just Daxter with 2 or 3 brand new characters that don't show up aaaanywhere else in the series. I give Daxter a 4/10.
My rating on the Jak & Daxter series: Precursor Legacy: Great Jak II: Fantastic (It's like Shadow The Hedgehog, but good!) Jak III: Okay Jak X: Good spinoff Daxter: Even better spinoff Lost Frontier: Cutscenes are pretty, everything else sucks.
You can download Daxter on the psvita and play it through the plastation tv, or get and av cable for the psp 2000 (componente only) or 3000 and record it that way with either physical or digital version.
There are AV cables you can purchase for the PSP, which would allow you to record Daxter. I've never used them, personally, so I'm not sure if the quality is any good. They are super cheap though so I'd say it's worth a shot. Would love to see a Daxter review.
Okay I grew up playing Jak and Daxter games so when I found this game at my local game-stop I was excited to play the fifth game. The cover looked nice and the title made me wonder of what adventures this duo will have. Oh how wrong I was with this one.
So Damas has a son named Mar, he is kidnapped and raided by Kor, the events of Jak 2 take place and Mar is sent back in time to become Jak in Jak 1. The events of Jak 1 take place, followed by the intro of 2 and the Medalheads start to invade Sandover Village. The events of 2 then 3 take place. Sometime after 3 Jak goes back in time and fights the Medalheads, founds Haven City and then dies and if forever known as Mar.
Hey AntDude, if you see this comment (which you probably won't), I know of a way for you to record footage for Daxter. It will require you to buy a digital version of the game, however. In order to record it, you need to get a a Playstation TV, which is a small device that allows you to play physical PS Vita games on your TV. It generally goes for around $20-40 if you can find it at like, a Walmart or something, otherwise it's $60 on Amazon. And that's basically it, just get a digital copy of Daxter (though you may need to get a Vita memory card if you don't have one already) and you're golden. You can also do this for Secret Agent Clank and other various PSP games that are on the Vita's PSN Store. Hope this helps if you end up seeing this!
Im glad Im not the only one that was completely IRKED when playing this game. Also on the mission where you have to chase Skyhead, if you choose the wrong plane like the bomber, you can't go back so you're stuck on that level forever.
i played this game, and near the end of it, I couldn't finish it. the mission starts with the airship dogfight, requiring you to take out an enemy warship, and I couldn't do so because earlier i had switched my ship to something else that could not defeat the enemy. and, no matter how many times I killed myself, no matter how many times I reloaded the save file, i wasn't allowed to change the ship i was using. effectively halting progress through the game.
Nice review! As for Daxter, you could always emulate it and use a PC screen capture program to get footage as I'm assuming you already own a physical copy (and even if you didn't, it's quite an old game anyways). Also, there's an audio glitch in the video at 10:36 lol
All I remember about this game is a video of naughtydog's lead programmer apologizing profusely about the chaotic state the game's code was in when he handed it off.
I'd like to mention that Naughty Dog in fact DID have involvement in The Lost Frontier and that the dude at Naughty Dog who wrote the original story was none other than (wait for it)... dudududududududududu **crash** Neil Druckmann! The same dude who's (apparently) "the greatest director, writer, and game designer in the industry" and is responsible in every conceivable manner for the creation of the Uncharted series and The Last of Us as well as the potential abomination that would've been the Jak 4 reboot. Funny how putting all of that into perspective, he doesn't seem like that much of a phenomenal game designer...
You know, I've played through the first Uncharted at max difficulty level and I found it to be boring, dated and purposeless. Besides the environments being very well made and interesting, I don't really understand what people like about this series. On top of that, it makes me laugh af when ND trash about their previous games being too childish, when Jak 2 and 3 are way more mature than the whole Uncharted series (imho). I just think they are posing too much and I can't do anything but dislike them for what they do. The industry is full of generic action games, but they keep releasing the same stuff, while the Jak series still has a lot to offer, especially in terms of lore, but has been abandoned. Why slaughtering people is better than a good story to them? This I will not understand.
This is litteraly a ratchet and clank game with a jak and daxter skin and since the RNC games are not designed to play like a jak game all the tweeks to the engine that try to make it like jnd feel off. The platforming seems off the awkward way jak holds his gun ( like ratchet in size maters it never moves) etc..
This actually wasn't a bad game overall and had a decent story but compared to the four games before it's not that good, I don't think it focuses on what it should have like Keira becoming a sage or random stuff like piloting planes or getting coloured Eco powers. Duke Skyheed was a good antagonist I thought as well
For everyone who can't get enough of Jak and Daxter. I made a small concept of how the next J&D can turn out. It's more of a fanfiction then overall story plot. But I did my best to keep the character as how they are. Forum on the official playstation site JAK AND DAXTER: THE CHRONICLES OF MAR Leave a reply and like if u enjoy it.

>"Daxter is good"
>"4/10"
Pick one.
I always thought a 5/10 was right at average, so to me, 4/10 is below average..
I didn't know this existed until now.
A problem with this game you didn’t mention or at least this happened to me, when you are turning the camera and moving the game will slow down
Daxter was a competent interquel. But this game, I'd never actually heard of it until I stumbled upon this video.
:O I can't believe you finished it, I stopped and threw the game out halfway through the tutorial
Why did such an amazing franchise have to end like this?
My rating on the Jak & Daxter series:
Precursor Legacy: Great
Jak II: Fantastic (It's like Shadow The Hedgehog, but good!)
Jak III: Okay
Jak X: Good spinoff
Daxter: Even better spinoff
Lost Frontier: Cutscenes are pretty, everything else sucks.
Theres not much exploration but you can find secret parts for an op ship
I had this game and LOVED IT
This...
this game makes me sad
You can download Daxter on the psvita and play it through the plastation tv, or get and av cable for the psp 2000 (componente only) or 3000 and record it that way with either physical or digital version.
I didn't even realize I beat this game. I shut it off right after the final boss when I didn't know it was the last fight
I heard High Impact Games actually closed down after Dream Works Kartz.
The last frontier is like the only ps2 game i know with a orange case
I'm so sorry you had to play through this again to get all the footage. XD
"followed by a ton of dark eco"
im litterly speachless
So Damas has a son named Mar, he is kidnapped and raided by Kor, the events of Jak 2 take place and Mar is sent back in time to become Jak in Jak 1. The events of Jak 1 take place, followed by the intro of 2 and the Medalheads start to invade Sandover Village. The events of 2 then 3 take place. Sometime after 3 Jak goes back in time and fights the Medalheads, founds Haven City and then dies and if forever known as Mar.
I'm still waiting for Antdude to do Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters.
Sylvester Stallone: PHOEENIIIIIX!!!!
Hope this helps if you end up seeing this!
supernova4point0 I know this is almost a year late. He could download the psp emulator and the iso of daxter to save him money.
Wait a minute... *googles voice actors* HA! I *knew* Kiera sounded like Twilight Sparkle!
WE WANT THE DAXTER REVIEW
Oooooh…. You wore a Star Fox T-shirt when talking about the flying sections…
Im glad Im not the only one that was completely IRKED when playing this game. Also on the mission where you have to chase Skyhead, if you choose the wrong plane like the bomber, you can't go back so you're stuck on that level forever.
No long jump maybe because this was also put out on the psp which had fewer buttons
i played this game, and near the end of it, I couldn't finish it. the mission starts with the airship dogfight, requiring you to take out an enemy warship, and I couldn't do so because earlier i had switched my ship to something else that could not defeat the enemy. and, no matter how many times I killed myself, no matter how many times I reloaded the save file, i wasn't allowed to change the ship i was using. effectively halting progress through the game.
Nice review! As for Daxter, you could always emulate it and use a PC screen capture program to get footage as I'm assuming you already own a physical copy (and even if you didn't, it's quite an old game anyways). Also, there's an audio glitch in the video at 10:36 lol
Considering Dark Daxter and how he is created, it doesn't make any sense how Daxter dies alongside Jak if he falls in Dark Eco.
And Dreamworks Super Star Kartz originated from a build of an unreleased Crash Racing game. It all goes full circle.
My blood still boils because of that.
All I remember about this game is a video of naughtydog's lead programmer apologizing profusely about the chaotic state the game's code was in when he handed it off.
2:19 Crash! B - bandcioot? Get it? (cough) (whispers) Naughty Dog... (chokes) AHAHAHHAHA
As much as I try to forget about this game's existence, somehow I always end up watching some videos about it.
Did I do something bad in my life?
CJ SORRY I CAN'T PLAY WITH YOU, MY MUM DOESEN'T WANT ME TO PLAY WITH PS2
First they gave daxter pants, and now he's a monster????
You know, if you want a way to record PSP gameplay, there's always the PSP 3000 Component cables.
After watching the marathon, I'll probably only check the first game.
if its wasn't call jak and daxter it should a fine game
I can't believe i almost bought it thinking it was the second part because of some false internet info... THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BIG MISTAKE
I love your reviews! Keep up the great work.
2:45
best
part
ever
XD
I do not agree, but the video was entertaining.
Also, the plane missions were the best.
This actually wasn't a bad game overall and had a decent story but compared to the four games before it's not that good, I don't think it focuses on what it should have like Keira becoming a sage or random stuff like piloting planes or getting coloured Eco powers. Duke Skyheed was a good antagonist I thought as well
Antman, I know it's been two years now, but what exactly do you like about Ninja Breadman?
For everyone who can't get enough of Jak and Daxter.
I made a small concept of how the next J&D can turn out.
It's more of a fanfiction then overall story plot.
But I did my best to keep the character as how they are.
Forum on the official playstation site
JAK AND DAXTER: THE CHRONICLES OF MAR
Leave a reply and like if u enjoy it.
I kind of wish naughty dog would come back to this series for the ps 4 it was fun and funny
I actually liked this game as a kid on my psp. Never played another jack game.
I swear to god the beginning reminds me of Johnny vs shadow the hedgehog
Daxter falls into dark eco, becomes precursor.
Dark eco falls on daxter, he becomes dark maker?
What is this? Daxter unleashed?
Damn you compared them in the video :(
