For our safety and sanity (video editing is very time consuming) our videos tend to run 3-4 weeks behind real time. There are 3-4 more Alaska videos coming down the pipeline before we leave the state. TRANSMISSION UPDATE! Stormtrooper went into the shop yesterday for his transmission transplant. The mechanic said the removal and installation of our new transmission is going well with no hiccups and we should be back on the road Monday. We are going to hang around the anchorage area for a day or two just to make sure all is well before we head south.
I noticed the clarity of the river water...I wonder, if the water is that clear, is it relatively free of protozoans? It's probably free of any chemicals/carcinogens. If you guys took a glass bottle and scooped up some water...and let us see the water quality. What a LOVELY meal for Darren...that was very kind of you. Happy 39th Darren! And my best wishes to you for no more major "issues" with Stormtrooper. I really hope Stormtrooper does its thing without problems! And thank you for the HOURS and HOURS of editing that is 90% of the time needed to make the lovely videos that you make...and are so appreciated!
Thank you Dave on the facts of edible wild plants. I plan on showing your video to my grandson. He is writing his essay on wild edible plants and mushrooms.
How's the transmission coming along? Can we get an update? I admire both of you for being able to make the best of this situation. Somehow through it all you seem to find the upside in life. I think that is another reason you guys are so special. Thank you for keeping it real. Have blessed and safe travels.
+@michaelbennett6959 hopefully we get to pick up storm trooper today (Monday October 7th) Although the $8000 price tag TOTALLY SUCKS!!!! We always knew this was probably going to happen at some point so we were mentally prepared and financially with savings from our seasonal jobs and a little help from family…we were a wee bit short! That really helped keep the stress down😃. I keep thinking of the East coast and all the devastation that happened with the last storm…. Our transmission problem is minor in comparison!!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Hi Carrie, Carol and I are evacuating to Quincy, Fl in the panhandle on Tuesday (10-8). Milton is coming directly for us. Some people are brainless and "hunkering down". I feel for you and Dave with the $8000 price tag. Mac (my van) has 102K miles and so far running strong. But then again he doesn't get the wear and tear that the Storm Trooper gets. I have money saved for a rainy day. I know my big ticket item on Mac will hit at one point or another. I still hope to sit around a campfire with you and Dave and Roodle sometime. I still have very fond memories of meeting you guys in person in Florida. Take care. Stay safe. Have fun. You guys have a wonderful channel. I'm a die hard OneAdVANtureAtATime fan. Peace.
Hey guys!! We just drove past your campsite this morning at Liard! We didn’t want to disturb you but it was fun seeing your van and that you’re back on the road. Maybe we’ll be playing leap frog down the Alcan. Lol. All our best and safe travels!
Always enjoy Dave's foraging and plant ID features. 😊 Such a beautiful area to get some good down time. That's a birthday Darren will remember!! And loved seeing Roodle having so much fun. He just exudes happiness. 😁 I read your response in another comment that the transmission repair is going well. I'm SO glad!! What's the weather doing up there now? Hope you get a good travel window. Take care!! 🍂🌾♥️🌾🍂
I agree with you totally! So many nomads bounce from place to place. And I love the scenic videos, but I also would like to see people just living - how to’s living in my vehicle. And also nice to get to know an area.
+@michaelkurz9067 although Alaska is a HUGE state, all the population is a relatively small area. We are all taking the same routes, doing the same touristy things!
Another amazing video. And what a lovely spot to heal in. I love all your videos but I must say, when thid Alaska adventure is over-there will be a mourning period. Until then-sending everyone some Grandmama love ❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾
Sometimes the best part of the rain is the rainbows after it stops. So glad you all were able to find a spot to boondock and not have to worry about getting stuck. A very happy belated birthday to Darren! I'm glad you could celebrate it with friends in such a beautiful location.
+@PulpParadise agreed! Love the rainbows afterwards! The gentle sound of rain drops hitting the van is nice too! Sometimes you just need a few rainy days to relax and recharge! This was the perfect location for us ALL the get over the sick bug we have been fighting!
Thanks as always for sharing. This was obviously before the transmission issues and when u where still having a caravan but awsome.. Hope all is well going with ur transmission... 🤞 Fingers crossed positive vibes and thoughts to you both and Ruddle too 🐾 Hopefully your hanging in there with the van down and are not to put out
+@mistygreene6754 yes, we are a few weeks behind in filming! Storm Trooper is in the shop this weekend getting his transmission transplant! The mechanic said no issues with the take out and installation of new transmission. We should be able to pick him up on Monday! Meanwhile we are just chilling in a hotel room in downtown Anchorage.
+@snowbirdlady7221 these are Roodles favorite spots! He is just as crazy about playing skipper rocks with dad as he is about his ball! The problem is he doesn’t understand not to get in front of the rock and try to catch it so we have to distract him while Dave throws the rock!

+@TP-es1pf oh no…. He has since gotten a hair cut! He gets REALLY hot when his hair is long and we can only stand so much hair in the van! Although he lightly sheds, it builds up quickly when his hair is long!
+@markridgemr we did one big mistake when we built out our van….we built it too heavy! Our Promaster has the exact same Engine as Jeep wranglers. Those two things combined makes it chug up hill at a slow rate of speed! If you watch our channel you will know we take our van off-road to places it probably shouldn’t go. Because we are heavy and we are front wheel drive the van does not do well on steep loose gravel type roads. We mean steep gravel roads…. It does really well for the most part! We have been impressed many times. We just know our limitations
Nice to hear Dave got a fishing license 🎣 Where you spin fishing or with a fly rod? Too bad that spot didn’t produce any fish for you. Glad you’re feeling better!
+@biggarfish Dave LOVES to fish! His favorite is spin fishing small streams and rivers! He just bought himself a tiny tenkara rod and we are heading to the Denali Highway soon so he can try to catch artic grayling!
