We just subscribed. You are the first TH-cam channel that has shown our special spot. South Jetty in Newport. We drive over from our home in Albany. We park in the same exact spot, eat lunch, watch the seals on the bouy, watch the divers, fishermen, and the boats go by... We have a 2003 class C motorhome. Dave & Marji Peterson
The disabled veterans pass is such a great benefit. We learned about it after camping for a week in a state park. We filled out the paperwork and were refunded that weeks camping fees. The Oregon State campground rules have changed since we started camping there. You must make online reservations to camp. If you arrive without reservations, you have to go online before getting a spot. The online reservation costs 8 dollars per reservation. There is also a 10 day per month limit to the benefit, which is extremely generous. ❤ Loved this video.
The Oregon Coast is so beautiful. Great video. Missy and I spent a couple months on the coast of CA, OR, and WA. Thanks for sharing. It is crazy a year has passed since we met you guys. We were working the booth at quartzite with Kris & Shari last year (akathegirls). Enjoy your adventure guys!
I have NEVER comentented oN a video before..But I always follow you guy's videos. I love the beaches. I lost my husband three years ago. One of our last our travel trips was up 101 on the west coast up from northern CA to long beach WA. I love watching your advenventurees. God bless n THANK you you for you videos.
Watching through tears.... My girlfriend was in love with Roodle. She wouldn't miss a video. Sadly, she passed away last week in her sleep, on her birthday. Roodle, and your videos will always be in my heart.
We are so sorry for your loss. We hope your memories of your girlfriend bring you comfort. Roodle is a special boy and has touched the hearts of many! It makes my heart happy that he brought so much joy to your girlfriend. Again, I am so sorry for the heartache you are feeling right now.... Hugs from us...especially Roodle!
I live in portland oregon and i'm headed to the coast next week for the january king tides. Can't wait to see the rest of this video. But you sound a whole lot like me and I love the ocean and the storms and can't wait to see it. Bless you guys. Happy trails❤❤
Thanks for coming along! We have been enjoying some much-needed family time but are ready to get the wheels turning! We are having fun deciding just which direction we want to take. We have family commitments in northern California this summer so we cannot go too far.
Hello 👋 glad u went to Rouge Brewery love that place super fun to walk through the maze to see some cool towers of brew. The gift shop is fun and the restaurant is worth it! I just love Oregon and Washington State where I'm from .The aquarium is so cool.. thanks for sharing..Hope u guys stay safe during the bomb cyclone 🌀 and king tides .Depot Bay is a great spot also so cool it's the smallest bay one of my favorites. So glad u enjoyed. Roodle 🐾 making a friend on the beach was adorable 😍🥰...
We enjoyed the gift shop as well! Dave bought a bottle of Gin....yuck! We really need to explore Washington more! I LOVE it when Roodle makes friends! He does the cutest little hop spin ponce when he is happy and wants to play.
Really enjoyed this video, partly because I had been in three of the spots you were on my trip up and down the Oregon coast last summer. -Port of Newport Dry Camping RV Park, near where you boondocked on the street. Great view of the bridge from there. -Rouge Nation Brewery -Oregon Coast Aquarium Happy New Year and safe travels!
Spent last summer driving 101 from Northern California up to Washington and back to Oregon. I am now an Oregonian and just love it here. Safe travels and may God bless. Sendin Grandmama love ❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾
Thanks for taking us along your journey, you always do such a great job explaining all the things to do in any given area I can’t wait for the next video
Love Oregon coast. The Umpqua lighthouse tour is awesome. Samuel boardman Beach area is awesome at low tide. Stayed at Harris Beach state park and did a day drive down to crescent city, talked to a ranger and took a dirt road through the redwoods at Jedidiah state park with our car. It was fantastic.
@ if you bring back some of those black rocks, set them around your campfire in the evening. Makes for great little heaters at the foot of your bed! Those are what I use in my massage practice.
Amazing video and wonderful content as usual! The power of the sea meets the grandeur of the rocky coastline. Would love to see and feel that for myself. As the year ends, I want to thank you for allowing us to share in your adventures. In particular, I thoroughly enjoyed the Alaska experience!! One day I want to do that journey, and will definitely be revisiting your videos for the advice. I hope 2025 brings y'all peace and joy in your travels. Thank you. 🙏
When we saw that you were in Newport, we were saying, "Go to the brewery!" Then, we saw you walk in just like we did and sit at the same table where we sat! Then, I was think..."They need to go see the otters...and you did. Great minds think alike! 😂
My high school boyfriend was later a Coastie in Depoe Bay and when the waves were breaking on that north point they used to go out and practice rolling the 44. Super episode! I loved seeing my old stomping grounds. Willa and LittleBigVan.
So cool! Dave was heavy weather surf trained and drove the prototype of the 44. We got great footage of the coast guard entering the channel next video!
Another super beautiful video, guys! And thank you for all the information regarding where to camp! Looking forward to Depoe Bay next week! How does it feel being back in the lower 48? Happiest of Happy New Year's to you and yours! Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet you in the Southwest; we'll be in New Mexico January, southern AZ in February, southeast CO last week of February, back to NM in March and April. We are volunteering at the Las Vegas NWR all of March.
I loved all of your suggestions for the Oregon coast! The aquarium looked really cool. We have camped in that area and really enjoyed all the bike trails. Happy holidays and happy camping!
Beautiful video Carrie and Dave. The Oregon Coast is very beautiful! I've done the whole coast more than once on multiple trips. It is insanely unpleasantly crowded in the summer however and you do have to make reservations the instant they open on line if you want to go then. Manzanita is my happy place! When I'm not doing mountains.....Happy New Year!
I’m a lifelong Oregonian and the coast is the best. Astoria, Seaside, Cannon Beach and the scenic cliffs immediately south. Then yeah, Depoe Bay and Newport. I hope you visited the sea lions in Newport! We’ve stayed at the Beverly beach campground. Getting a last minute spot off season, during the week is doable.
We LOVE the Oregon Coast! When we were in Newfoundland we thought the coastlines there rivaled the beauty of Oregon. I did not get to see the sea lions! We heard them very distinctly one night and we drove over to see them, but it was so busy, and Dave could not wait to get out of there! We gave up....something to see next time.
We need to explore that area more! We had stupid deadlines this trip but so happy we got to spend quality time with family this year…. It’s been a few years since we were home for the holidays!
What a cool campground with the yurts. I've never seen that before. It's a really great idea. Reminds me of tropical beaches with beach huts. Carrie, in my mind, if you can accomodate them, there's no such thing as "too many" rocks 😄. Hope you guys have enjoyed a lovely Christmas. And wishing you a very 🎆 Happy New Year 🎆!! Take care. 🥰 🌲☃️🌲☃️🌲
We thought the Yurts were very cool! We ALWAYS hated tent camping in the rain! I can see it being very useful if you have young children! I just built a table today that opens and where I can store some rocks. I turned out a tad bigger that it should have been and Dave was not impressed...lol
That storm knocked my power out for five days up in the foothills north of Seattle, but the private campground a few miles away had 75 RV’s damaged or destroyed by falling trees. Luckily most people only use them in the warmer months. I sure had a hard time finding water when I was going south from Chicago after Christmas. Several spots were turned off for winter. I was going to try a state park in New Mexico, but arrived late and stayed at a dispersed BLM spot a mile away. I just decided to go to an RV park in Arizona and fill up water there. Plus laundry and showers. I agree that the whole coastline is great, but I’m partial to Ft. Stevens near Astoria. It doesn’t have the crashing waves that you get further south because it’s mostly sand and there is more drama when the waves hit rocks
We missed it but the pictures coming out of that area are just incredible. Next Time I want to watch the waves there. We want to explore the area more as the bomb cyclone pushed us south.
It appears you no longer have to be 100% Eligibility: We offer free camping and free parking at day-use fee parks to these groups: U.S. veterans with ANY LEVEL of service-connected disability Active duty U.S. military on official leave What it Covers If you are eligible, this benefit gives you free parking at the 25 state parks that charge a day-use parking fee. It also covers your camping costs in RV sites, tent campsites & standard horse camp sites. You may camp for free in a tent, RV or standard horse camp site for 10 nights at a time at a single state park, or a total of 10 nights in a calendar month, regardless of the location. If you stay longer than 10 nights at a park, or in a calendar month, you will pay the standard rate for the extra days.
I’ll bet the small craft flags were flying that day Carrie and Roodle walked out to the jetty. I didn’t make it to the coast for any of the King tides so far. Maybe in January.
Loved the video, was great as usually. You guys do an amazing job. Wish we were 10yrs younger we would follow your well guided routes. Looking forward to the next one and see you get splashed. Hihi Happy trails from Québec Canada ❤️❤️
Thanks for coming along with us each week! You are probably going to laugh at me, but I (Carrie) have a big birthday coming up in January..... The BIG 50!! Mentally I DO NOT FEEL THIS OLD... but my body keep reminding me that I am no spring chicken ....lol
We met a few subscribers there....Maybe our next meet up should be on the coast! Wouldn't that be fun. If you see us out and about..... come say Hello!
You guys have the place to yourselves, that’s awesome. We are looking forward to our Oregon trip in our B van in 2025. We are thinking of going at the end of April, before it gets too crowded and the rainy season tapers off. Two questions if you don’t mind; What year is your van? This video was recorded in November? Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I have spent some time on the Oregon coast, in the summer and loved it. If you traveled south on 101 you would have driven through or around Willits, CA. my town. Are you going to be in Quartzsite in Jan? I will be there.
We have been through Willits before but we cut over highway 299 to Redding this time. And yes, we will be doing another meet and greet in quartzsite this year. We will announce the dates once we get it figured out. It will be sometime around the RTR & Big Tent show dates😃
I enjoyed your video. We live on the coast in Brookings and have made a similar trip in our converted Transit. Don’t you love the Art Deco bridges in OR? We have stayed overnight in the parking lot at Boiler Bay twice. OR allows you to stay/park for 8 hours in an “official” rest area. There is a resident group of Gray Whales you can often see from the shore. Something about the food source there keeps them from migrating north. I know your videos are not posted in real time but if you are continuing south on 101 there are many places to stay right next to the ocean between Port Orford and Brookings. Stay safe.
Brookings is another one of our Favorite Oregon towns!! We visited Boiler Bay and was going to stay there but there were "no camping/parking overnight" signs posted. We Rode out the bomb cyclone in Port Orford.
@ Cape Blanco lighthouse just north of PO recorded a 90 mph wind gust during the bomb cyclone. We had to be in Coos Bay for medical. We left the day before so we didn’t get stuck on the wrong side of a downed tree. We love living in Brookings, so not touristy. We have a beautiful ocean view and a flat place for you to park next time. Stay safe.
Mt Shasta is in our home turf! That was where we were going before we decided to detour to the coast. It was the right decision as they got a massive snowstorm right where we wanted to go. I-5 was closed for a bit.
FYI, plenty of free camping on the Oregon coast at the casinos.....Spirit Mountain (free) on the way from Portland to the Tillamook area...Once on Hwy 101 heading south there are several available...One in Lincoln City Chinook Winds (free w/permit) , One in Florence Three Rivers Casino (1 nite free) , the one in Coos Bay/North Bend charges and dont know what that is....Just south of Brooking on the Calif side before you get to Crescent City Lucky 7 also has free parking...Cresent City Elk Valley casino has 2 nite free parking...With relatives in Portland , Tillamook, Crescent City, we do the Hwy 101 thing often to visit from the Bay Area...DO NOT !!! for any reason known to mankind spend a nite at the Walmart in Crescent City....We utilize these casinos along with Oregon state parks which are reasonably priced also...When in I-5 we also stay free at Seven Feathers casino in Canyonville...
HMMM...next time we are in Wisconsin we must try them!! So far, the best cheese curd winner goes to Wisconsin but the Best Fried Cheese curds goes to Oregon! We must broaden our cheese curd experiences!
Don't know your destination but a massive weather change is coming to central US East of the Rockies. Artic air - polar vortex to reach all the way to the Gulf. I remember your video from 2021 in Texas, could be just as bad or worse. Stay safe.
Weather is crazy this year! We got caught right in the middle of the bomb cyclone a few weeks ago. We have family commitments that will bring us back to Northern California in The summer…. So 2025 will mainly be west of the Rockies until we decide on our fall seasonal job.
It was a clam shell with hardened sand inside where the shell has mostly been worn off leaving the sand and remnants of shell. We find them really often.
Yes what @willar1338 said! Dave and I went for a walk later on the same beach but went the opposite direction Roodle and I went…. Lots of fossils in that direction!
We have family commitments that will bring us back to Northern California this summer.... so, we will be mostly hanging out west of the rockies. We might be heading to Minnesota for the Potato harvest in the fall, we are still deciding on that.
Agreed! Not our usual style but we wanted to hang out in the area and not pay for camping every night. It made it easy to get up early and leave for a more peaceful spot.
Depoe Bay is my favorite place to visit on the Oregon Coast. We have not been there during king tides, but someday we hope to!

Oregon is HIGH on our list of states to settle down in or just have a home base.
We were at a park last Oct. and someone had painted Halloween designs on rocks and placed one on each picnic table, so darn cute!
That is so fun!
Love the OR coast like Beverley Beach and South Beach SP and yes it is crowded in the summer time but so nice.
Thanks for taking us along your journey, you always do such a great job explaining all the things to do in any given area I can’t wait for the next video
Thank you so much!

That sounds like an amazing trip! We love exploring the Oregon Coast too. We Honeymooned in Jedediah State Park... LOVE IT!
Carrie, I would have been there with you looking for rocks! Great video! Thank you both!
I brought back a bag of rocks that I don't have room for...lol
@ if you bring back some of those black rocks, set them around your campfire in the evening. Makes for great little heaters at the foot of your bed! Those are what I use in my massage practice.
Looks like a fun place but the sunshine in that part of the country can be hard to find so bring your raincoat. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Amazing video and wonderful content as usual! The power of the sea meets the grandeur of the rocky coastline. Would love to see and feel that for myself.

Love Oregon coast. We were there in Sept. Also spent our honeymoon back in 1978.
I love DePoe Bay! I stayed at there years ago and really enjoyed the area!
Depoe Bay is one of our favorite spots too! It really is a special little area!
Awesome vid! Thanks for showing! See you next year!
We are already planning our 202 adventures - looking forward to seeing you there!

I love Oregon State parks. I have been using them for years. I like the showers as my motor home bathroom is tiny and wet. Glad you like our coast.
LOVE Oregon!! Its high on our list for a home state when we finally decide to settle down or have a homebase.
I love Beverly Beach State Park! The campground there is wonderful! Great beach to fly kites.
Yes! I did take my kite out on the beach. I hope I can show that in our next video.
Oregon is my 2nd favorite state (Hawaii 1st). When I retire in 4 years I plan to spend months in that state.
I loved all of your suggestions for the Oregon coast! The aquarium looked really cool. We have camped in that area and really enjoyed all the bike trails. Happy holidays and happy camping!
We really wish we had room for bikes!!! Someday in a different rig perhaps!
Fantastic footage... especially of Carrie (sp?) at the beach.
Thank you! And you spelled my name correctly!!
Beautiful video Carrie and Dave. The Oregon Coast is very beautiful! I've done the whole coast more than once on multiple trips. Yeah, not so much fun when it is really crowded! Mountains are my 2nd happy place.

Our favorite place is Depoe Bay, too!
LOVE IT!!! Have you been to Thors Well? Another one of my favorite spots
Astoria fairgrounds has camping for only $11 per nite, gorgeous views, clean full bathrooms. Lots of elk in the field and birds and blue herons.
We need to explore that area more! We had stupid deadlines this trip but so happy we got to spend quality time with family this year…. It’s been a few years since we were home for the holidays!
Great video on Oregon.❤❤❤❤
We love the Oregon Coast!

Thank You!
Did you go see Shore Acres by Coos Bay, Charleston area it also has the hugh waves crashing on the rocks. A must see.
We missed it but the pictures coming out of that area are just incredible. Next Time I want to watch the waves there. We want to explore the area more as the bomb cyclone pushed us south.
I love otters too!!! So dang cute!!!
Agreed 1000%

I’ll bet the small craft flags were flying that day Carrie and Roodle walked out to the jetty. I didn’t make it to the coast for any of the King tides so far. Maybe in January.
the windstorm left alot of huge floating logs in the ocean

Thanks for coming along with us each week! You are probably going to laugh at me, but I (Carrie) have a big birthday coming up in January..... The BIG 50!! Mentally I DO NOT FEEL THIS OLD... but my body keep reminding me that I am no spring chicken ....lol
Another good one.
Thank you!
At the Rogue Brewery, you get a free self guided tour of the facilities on the way to the restaurant. Those cheese curds looked decadent!
YES!!!
You're right. Can't go wrong checking out the Oregon coast. Seems like there's a state park every 20 or 25 miles.
It truly is an amazing place to explore! You are right....there are a lot of state parks! There is something amazing to see around every corner!
OMG we were at Beverly Beach too!!! Ok sorry I will stop geeking out now 😂 love you guys!
It's such a great spot!!
I was in Newport camping during king tides! I would have loved to have spotted you and said hello! I’ve met all 3 of you a few times! ❤
We met a few subscribers there....Maybe our next meet up should be on the coast! Wouldn't that be fun. If you see us out and about..... come say Hello!
If you like otters, stop by Morro Bay, CA on your way down south. A free show all day every day from the bayfront boardwalk.
That sounds incredible!!
Thanks friends. I plan to warm season in the PNW in 2025. Looks wonderful there !...
👍 Rock on 🙂.
Have you never been? If not, you will fall in love!
@oneadVANtureatatime Never ! Sounds great ! Looking forward 🌞
😊
At 25:40 and 27:15 you found fossils! Those are Sea shells that are in mudstone. They're coming with you? I'm ok with that. Welcome to Oregon.

Welcome back to the lower 48. Oregon coast looks awesome even in the rain but does the sun ever shine there? Happy Trails 🐕
The sun does shine here, just not as much in the winter....lol!! October is our favorite time to visit!
@oneadVANtureatatime I kinda like beaches at that time of the year too

Wisconsin has all the fried cheese curds you coild want or Culvers has them in other states.
At 27: 30 or so that rock looks like an agate with the white inside.
As always, loved the video. Do you have an itinerary for your plans for 2025. Love to see you back in Michigan.
In their live a week ago ( I think) they talked about their plans.
@ellenbower4825 thanks ellen
We have family commitments that will bring us back to Northern California this summer.... so, we will be mostly hanging out west of the rockies. We might be heading to Minnesota for the Potato harvest in the fall, we are still deciding on that.
The homeless problem inOregon is out of control!
We witnessed quite a lot in Portland.
Not a fan of your campsite 3 ' from a rd with cars zipping by.😅

Agreed! Not our usual style but we wanted to hang out in the area and not pay for camping every night. It made it easy to get up early and leave for a more peaceful spot.
