    My uncle introduced me to this, the first Jackie Chan film I ever saw so, it will always hold a special place with me. Also, the fighter that loses in the beginning was Gene LeBell; famous stunt man, fight choreographer, godfather of MMA, Ronda Rousey's uncle and the cab driver that pulls a gun in Rush Hour. It just seems worth mentioning.

      Or the pre fast and furious movie ,Thunderbolt , 1995 Hong Kong action film directed by Gordon Chan. In early North American releases, it was known as Dead Heat.

    I remember when this came out. Jackie Chan had just made a big splash with his role in Cannonball Run 2, and everyone wanted to see him in a larger role. I saw this in the theatre and felt so disappointed in this movie. The action was just not up to expectations. I was a member of a group of local anime fans, most of which were also kung fu movie fans. They bootlegged a ton of Jackie Chan's Hong Kong movies so I got to see Chan in action way before Rumble In The Bronx, which I am still grateful for.

  • @reverts3031

    I saw this movie when it first came out and LOVED it! I was a Bruce Lee fan and grew up watching The Green Hornet. Longed to see Bruce Lee in the series "Kung Fu." It broke my heart when I learned Bruce Lee had passed away. I watched "Enter The Dragon" and was amazed. No movie after that showed anyone as talented as he was until I saw Battle Creek Brawl for the very first time. It left me with the impression that there was hope for this world. Jackie Chan made some amazing movies. And... the score for BCB was the same guy who did the score for "Enter The Dragon" and also created the theme for "Mission Impossible." Nice combination. My favorite part of BCB is when Jerry has to fight without fighting. Jackie Chan made me laugh.

    This was the first Jackie Chan movie I didn't like as a kid. (Me and my grandma used to watch all his stuff)
    Usually in previous and later works Jackie Chan fights have a decent speed and it's like a constant rhythm (1234-1234)
    But this movie seemed like it had horrible timing (1-1-1) doing every single move slowly as possible because people couldn't keep up.

    • @Rando1975
      @Rando1975 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep. Jackie said in his autobiography he hated doing this movie. Part of the reason was the American stuntman so slow and he wasn't given the freedom to do what HE wanted to do to showcase his skills to a new audience.

    Can you review The Protector(1985) another Jackie Chan American Hong Kong film, but the making of that film is more interesting than the film itself. Both Chan and the film director were having a bad time working together. Chan hated the final product especially the final action scene so he decided to reshoot the movie by adding new scenes and changing them in the Hong Kong version. The final fight between Jackie and the bodyguard in both versions are similar but with minor differences being faster pace, longer, and new angles. Some people say the Hong Kong version is better.

The only thing I didn't care for was the race thing near the beginning, it was just weird. But I enjoy Jackie Chan movies that have his trade mark humor to it, which this movie is probably the reason for.

Not taking anything away from his greatness, I love Jackie Chan as an Actor but it's simply not true that he became bad (some of his last movies he is in are even pretty fun to watch). He always had some Movies that simply were...bad.
