Natsukashii! This Bellett is so nostalgic. I lived in Japan in the 60s so seeing these old Japanese cars puts a BIG smile on my face. My dad LOVED diesels and back then Isuzu was the leader in Japan of diesel car production. Both the Bellett, (4 door), and the larger Bellell were available in diesel. By the late 60s my family had recently relocated to Hawai'i but there was an outfit here that imported select cars from Japan. I believe they were all right hand drive. My dad had his eyes on a diesel Bellell Station Wagon, and also on a Diesel Isuzu Elf Van which was slightly larger than a VW van of the time. Dad had all the Isuzu brochures for the Bellell, Bellett, and Elf. Please post videos of more 60s vehicle, they are the most nostalgic to me. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu.
Classic Isuzu Diesels (60’s-90’s) were amazing - especially with turbochargers. I’d say the only ones better than them were the MFI Peugeot Turbo-Diesels, and, the obvious undisputed king of classic Diesels, Mercedes.
nice one, i dont really mind the grill too much haha also, the gallant at 1:42 is rocking the trd tosco wheels, i allways find interesting to see these wheels on something else than toyotas :D
The Bellett coupe has CAMPAGNOLO wheels from Italy. Japan represented the most sales for Campagnolo wheels at the time otherwise they sold wheels for Italian made cars such as Ferrari and top quality cycle components, which they still do. I have a set of the same wheels that were removed from my Nissan KH510 that I had. They just precede Watanabe 8 spoke wheels Les
I never liked the early tail light treatment on regular belletts, this one solved my problem, heh, they fix something by ruining other, i love the 3 versions though to be honest. Sorry to hear about the page, you sounded really sad on Instagram yesterday. Don't give up Daniel, still got 60K people here 😉
You filmed this just for me! Yay! Okay, I know you didn't, but I don't care. Great, great video Dan! What better way to start the day then with Isuzus! I'm just diggin'that beautiful blue gem, as well as the others in the intro montage. Thanks for sharing, made my day!
Oh wow! Such a beauty and thanks for pointing out those differences between the normal Bellet and the fastback. Now I probably have to revise my upcoming video as I think that also includes a fastback and I didn't even know... 😥 How are you doing? So me an email with the website update! 👍
Yes indeed: it's a Bellet Fastback... The two door GT(R) grille has a continuation of the grille above and below the double round headlamps, while the ordinary Bellet features a grille with many more slots which also continue above and below the headlamps. So the one pictured in my video is definitely a fastback coupe! Thanks Dan! :)
@@wasabicars there's quite a handful of Japanese classics laying about here i actually bought a datsun 710 sss like that white one u did a video on sometime back!i i love your channel i learn a lot of Japanese car heritage here....great vids!!
Other than fit and finish issues, I've no hassles with the looks of this car. Plenty of Toyota's that looked far homelier than this and even the grille doesn't bother me but I get it. I assume the paint is original? Even the Campy's look right on this, great detective work!
Forgive me asking for clarification, but... a FASTBACK like this one?!?! I'll assume not. But still, cool to know there's still some getting around in Oz
Awesome spot! Was going to buy one but it was swapped with a DOHC engine. Nice swap but can't Import an engine swapped car without a bunch of hassle. :( The fastback is top on my list of vehicles to import.
Damn. Out of curiosity, what colour was it? I ask because I read a comment somewhere that they only ever came from the factory in white. Not that that sounds right to me.
Sorry mate. It's not a SOHC engine. It's a overhead valve engine. The SOHC engines came later in the Bellett. Glenn (I have the sohc in my 1972 Bellett Sport. 2 door sedan in Australian )
Yes that's a pushrod engine in the fastback. The GTR Bellett came later fitted with a DOHC engine. And Belletts in the last few years of production switched to a SOHC engine of either 1600 or 1800cc.
Pretty sure there are no fastbacks in Australia. And rare in Japan. There are a small number of GT's in Australia (I guess less than 100 these days) and 1 or 2 GTR's. Price, hard to say, GTR more of course. Very few ever come up for sale.
Very original NZ-manufactured (Under the 300 club agreement) Belett in cream just round the corner from me. 67,000 miles on the clock. Tiny car. Awful thing, really. No fun to drive.
What a beautiful car. I actually really like the grille.

Ji F.
A Bellel would be a real unicorn!

isuzu just doesn't get enough love in the states this little guy is amazing
Under-appreciated everywhere I think ;-)
Wow! That thing is beautiful. Really unusual styling. Sweeeeet. Mind you, that yellow Isuzu 117 coupe was mighty fine too.
I didn't even know that these existed, but being a big fastback guy I'll be keeping a look out on the international market for one!
The unicorn-ness cannot be overstated with this one. Good luck
Wow almost looks like a Mazda r100 coupe in some way .great bunch of cars . And that engine sounds smooth as
Also like the Toyota Crown Ute at 1:17. So not just an Australian thing of car based utes.

isuzu was ahead of it's time
Definitely. The Bellett was an important and successful car. Shame they've faded away in the passenger car market.
WasabiCars if they revive it,i wish they could make a turbocharged sedan or coupe

Thank you for the rare Isuzu Video.....you don't see it everyday.
Absolutely my please, and absolutely do not see it everyday
I love it! Wish I had one...Thank you for the vid.
Great video Danny!
Thanks, mate. The car inspired me. :)
Another great find!
never question what a grand mother drives . my grand ma drove a 1970 oldsmobile cutlass S convertible
Lol. I think it's awesome. I was a little surprised though.
Keep up Dan.
Bloody love the car.

Nice tunes Daniel...she drive it when it's sunny, I ain't being funny, Oh, yes, u are. Arigatozamashita
Hehe ;-)
Us bicycle geeks can pronounce Campagnolo in our sleep. 😁
ОО___ОО style grill & ooo ooo style back)))
Galant GTO!
I don't know much about Isuzu. But I think there is one of these that runs a diesel engine from factory in my area. I could be completely wrong.
That Soarer was mm mmmmmm... So fine

Pretty much
Lovely vid, just how I like it...😁

The guy was saying that the paint had been given a freshen up, but that some sections of it were original.
what is the wheels brand?
Good question: th-cam.com/video/1xmjOxG6sOI/w-d-xo.htmlm11s
How to spell it?
Campagnolo... (Elektron?)
Thanks 😀 man, you're the best
i found one of these in sydney australia a little rusty but all orginal
