It was really heaven and earth when I copied the save and switched from ps4 to ps5 after about 5 hours.
@@RetroMediaRoom You know, they say that a stick has two ends or a rose has thorns. Not all PS4 games run better on PS5, some can't be finished at all or have some bugs. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II on PS5 has a bug that makes it impossible to finish the game and it occurs in about 70% of the game, and it runs worse than the same game on PS4 and PS4 Pro because it has short freezes. Unfortunately, backward compatibility on PS5 is not perfect and has a lot of bugs, this is not Xbox, where all Xbox One games run the same or better on Xbox Series X. Yes as nice as it is when games work, that REALLY sucks when bugs are that game breaking happen, Xbox has been MUCH more consistent overall with their cross-gen/backwards compatibility support, I'll research if someone has a comprehensive list of known bugs like you described because that's important to know. I wish you great health as well friend!
These games also play better on a base PS5, Infamous and Killzone especially run at 60fps whereas on a standard PS4 they only run around 30 - 40 fps most of the time.
Yes that's what I said in the very beginning of the video, any base PS5 already does most of what I'm talking about minus the image quality enhancement toggle. I was going to cover these games on my base PS5 anyway, but then I surprised myself by getting a PS5 Pro and after checking out the new feature and liking it, I changed the course of the video a bit.
I remember shadow fall seeming to have an issue with scale back in the day. Like sometimes characters would look smaller than you then sometimes they would look quite a bit bigger.
The image quality toggle is just that, a system setting, Dark Souls 3 and Second Son both have PS4 Pro patches, and I can't say for certain how many basic updates the others have or not because I'm always connected and up to date so whatever updates they have have already been applied across the board.
I 100% agree with your opinion about PS3 streaming on PS Plus, I've never seen PS3 games look this bad. I still have my PS3 slim hooked up to a decent OLED TV, and difference between the same titles streamed on the PS5 and played on the original PS3 is night and day. If Sony really cares about preserving the memory of these games, they need to do a much better job. For now, it seems like they're trying to convince us that those games looked much worse than we remembered them...
Yep that's how I was, they're worth checking out if you have a PS3, I covered them in a recent video. Playing all the originals for the first time to make that video I went in with an open mind that they could change my mind about Second Son being my favorite, they didn't, but they're still great PS3 games.
TT Isle Of Man Ride On The Edge is way more stable on the Pro. All of the artifacting and other graphical anomalies that were always there when playing it on the PS4 or PS5 are completely gone.
@@RetroMediaRoom Yeah it's definitely an improvement over how it's played in the past but as soon as you start playing it on the Pro you notice it straight away. Not that it was unacceptable before it's definitely way better. The Multiplayer races were always very difficult for me when I played the game before could have been me not having the best internet but lobbies were always very unstable. I haven't tried multiplayer yet on the Pro but it might be worth going back to if it's improved as much as the rest of the game. 👍
im so glad i decided to upgrade to the pro. i almost decided to keep my ps5 and get a series x. i went and traded it in at game stop, got basically 300 for ps5 disc edition and i traded an extra controller "midnight black" got $25 for it. I downloading games now, have to wait on mu disc drive sadly.
Awesome! Yeah I had to order and wait on the disc drive too, it absolutely should have been included at that price point. It's seriously taken me back to when I got the PS4 Pro, people talked trash about that too and guess what? I still enjoyed it!
Nice video ! I don't really agree about inFAMOUS Second Son : in term of story I loved Infamous 1 or 2. Infamous Festival of Blood was really something.. But it's true : I've never experienced a so fascinating Neon effect in Infamous second son (even more with the sequel, first lights). Too bad we can't have any "remaster" of the old Infamous games. But I'll follow your advices : I will re launch those games !! Thanks !!!
Festival of Blood was my favorite in the series! I am still bummed that it only play on PS3. I remember playing it during Halloween season when it came it, and I think of that game every Halloween since.
Fun part is that dark souls 3 not even got a update for the ps5 pro.. this console does it on his own! Yeah 800 for a upgrade is insane but when developers making there game from zero to end with the tech and power of the ps5 pro .. you would see the most beautifull games
Yep, now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying spend all that money if you already have a base PS5, because any PS5 already works great, but that extra bump in image quality from the AI-upscaling is pretty nice when the engine likes it.
On EDF6 I absolutely turn the graphics down to the lowest settings for the best performance (PS5 version exclusive option), I've never seen the upscaling option on the Pro affecting the actual framerate of games, is this something you've tested on your Pro?
@RetroMediaRoom I mean the enhance image quality toggle for ps4 games in the options menu. I havent personally tested it but digital foundry did a video on it testing the feature and looking at framerates.
@RetroMediaRoom Digital foundry made a video testing the effects of the "enhance ps4 image quality toggle" on performance in the ps4 version of until dawn. And the result was a decrease in frame rate. Turning the setting off increased it
While I wouldn't take it THAT far, there are cases such as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (outside the scope of the video) that's fully utilizing the PSSR and is being praised as some of the best graphical and image quality to ever grace consoles, but as far as PS4 games in the video, all models of PS5s are already able to do the majority of what the Pro is capable of, but that extra image quality that select PS4 games can benefit from is a cherry on top of the Sunday. Finally there are some cases of new and old games that actually look and run worse on the Pro so it's still not perfect yet.
Had so many issues in games with my 30th anniversary pro. I even tried the standard ps5 pro thinking maybe it was a problem with the 30th anniversary model but no both consoles are a disaster. Back to Series X until Sony sort their shit.
Well that's unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear that, what have you had issues with? Nothing wrong with sticking with the Series X though, it's an amazing Xbox (I've been playing Stalker 2 religiously lately). For me with the Pro, it has been disappointing that Silent Hill 2 hasn't been what it's supposed to be as a "Pro enhanced" title, even worse in some ways.
@ yeah least it is something that should be fixed with updates so eventually they should be decent consoles. Sucks for early adopters we are just beta testers these days
Absolutely we are beta testers without pay and it's a crappy model, I get that unforseen things come about and they can patch it, but nowadays they RELY on us being free testers and that's just wrong, quality control used to mean something.
Yeah many people feel that way and I get it, that's what I was trying to convey how different the old formula was, many people aren't even familiar anymore with what God Of War came from.
Sure, that's why I pointed out multiple times that any PS5 model already does a good job, the Pro is for enthusiasts that want a bit more and can afford it, similar to PC gamers spending extra money on higher end graphics cards.
Overall and for it's time, EDF5. While I'm playing the crap out of 6 regardless and it is better in a number of ways, it just has some issues that were either less prevalent, or even brand new faults all together. EDF5 is a 8.5 - 9 out of 10, whereas EDF6 is a 7.5 - 8.
inFamous second son as favorite in the series is a wild take 1 & 2 are some of my favorite stories ever BUT second son is great too excited to play through it when I get my hands on a pro 😈🙏🏼
Haha part of it is I don't have any nostalgia bias with the first ones, I should have played them back in the day though, I probably have "played it first" bias with Second Son 😅
It's final update puts it in too high of a resolution for the image enhancement toggle to work, while I haven't tried it first hand, I highly doubt it would do anything and isn't really needed, any PS5 plays it beautifully.
I absolutely love Days Gone! I haven't tried it out on the Pro so I'm not sure it does anything special, but I have played it on my base PS5 and it's fantastic.
Selling the ps5 pro to play your old ps4 games better as a marketing strategy? For double the cost of a ps4 pro? it's been a month now since the ps5 pro launch. There are still no mind-blowing exclusive games for it. oh wow. You can play ff7 rebirth better now. how is silent hill 2 on it? Wukong? FF XVI on it??
@RetroMediaRoom for me. the pro line up failed to live up to its name. The ps4 pro? Enabling 4k upscaling but compromised performance to a number of games. And heck it runs louder. To counter all that they did give a lot of ps4 pro enhanced games most specially they stayed with the msrp from the base console. And now ps5 pro can't even run a 1080p in 60fps lock current gen game and a price increase?only the Scalpers and enthusiasts bought the console because everyone else should just stick with the base ps5.
If you're perfectly happy with your standard PS5s that's absolutely fine, that's why I said in the video that any base PS5 already does a nice job of playing PS4 games, the Pro is for enthusiasts that want maximum picture quality potential for some of their favorite PS4 games, it's really just an excuse for me to cover these cool games that I was going to cover running on PS5 anyway. To each their own, do what is right for you.
Man Second Son is nowhere close to being better than infamous 2 and maybe even the first. Graphically it was a standout on PS4, but in the end the story and character development doesn't have the same impact as Cole's story, and definitely nothing to match the twists. The OST in infamous 2 is much better too.
More than a "lil better" on PS5, it's night and day in many cases, it's not just solely about the PS5 Pro, the entire point are PS4 games running better on any PS5 console.
Haha I like the Maximilian pisser reference, I call it that too. No not all games, right now only the developers are able to fully unlock the pisser for PS5 games natively, but in the case of these PS4 games the Pro has the AI-upscaler toggle that enhances the game's visuals without a patch, but it varies a lot from game to game so test accordingly.
Yes, I addressed that in the very beginning and end of the video that any PS5 does an inherently good job minus the Pro exclusive image quality enhancement toggle.
I knew it was just a matter of time..... PS5 PRO. Is not as bad as people make it out to be cause of the price of course. How much was the base PS5 when it came out $200.00
Generally yes, some more or less than others, but sometimes people either don't know, never played, or forget to even fire them back up utilizing newer hardware, when they're even available in the first place.
It's a select 5 that I chose to cover, I never said only 5. I don't cover triple digit amounts of games in single videos, that would be either a lifeless list, or a 5 hour long video, so that doesn't make any sense for my channel's format.
That’s the sad thing about PS5 PS4 consoles they can’t make all games play better like Xbox one X and series X your saying only 5 but when it comes to PC abd xbox series’s X all games play better not just some
I'm covering a select 5 of worthwhile games, I never said only 5. It is hit or miss so you have to test accordingly. Like 1886 for example, I considered featuring it but the enhancements were virtually unnoticeable due to the game's film noise effects that the AI-upscaling can't do much with so it wasn't a good example to promote.
@ I already saw the games on my PS5 that can play better it’s not all of them like the last of us part 1 if I never played it I probably would be interested in playing it Spider-Man 2 I already beat the entire game the PS5 console already tells you what games plays better it’s not all of them Sony is like Konami who doesn’t care making games playing better the true publisher is capcom square enix those publishers are the best in remakes but naughty dogs is a joke no last of us part 3
While Xbox Series X has been my favorite console this current generation, I loved PS4 a lot, but I still really enjoy my PS5, I just play everything, so there's nothing for me to "deal with" 😂
I talk about how they look and play for each and every game, but playing these classic games on new hardware is simply a vehicle to showcase and talk about them, whether you want to re-experience or play them for the first time. The heart of my content is to not only inform, but to simply talk about the games that deserve to be talked about from a retrospective. Your feelings betray you.

Absolutely, and thank you for testing that and telling us about it, they need to do better!
I totally everything you said sbout this video absolutely insane i have ps5 pro and pc
Thank you 😊
@ don’t listen to trash talking bs going on they probably don’t have ps5 pro lol
Infamous second son is my favorite in the series. I haven’t played 1 or 2 yet.
Yep that's how I was, they're worth checking out if you have a PS3, I covered them in a recent video. Playing all the originals for the first time to make that video I went in with an open mind that they could change my mind about Second Son being my favorite, they didn't, but they're still great PS3 games.
Awesome list
Thanks! I really enjoyed playing them 😀
Vampyr playd amazing. It would always crash on my PS4 and they never bothered fixing it.
Yeah it's like this God Of War 3 texture bug, turns out it's always been that way in the remaster they just never addressed it.
Well time to install shadow fall. What i would give for kz2 and kz3 ps5 remakes or at least remasters.
That's what made me include it in this video, I want those remasters! 😆
Killzone 2 & 3 were top tier action games
Great Selection of Games!
But... when I listen to these numbers that you say you spend playing games, I'm a little bit worried about you! 😂😉
Haha I've worries myself at times 😅
The original dying light looks really good on PS5 Pro.
@@VR4nic I bet it does, that's a solid game!
TT Isle Of Man Ride On The Edge is way more stable on the Pro. All of the artifacting and other graphical anomalies that were always there when playing it on the PS4 or PS5 are completely gone.
Oh that's great! 😀
@RetroMediaRoom ??? What's so funny ???
@RetroMediaRoom It's very fast and very demanding. The fact that it runs perfectly is actually pretty great 👍
Oh It's not a laughing emoji It's a happy one because I'm glad the game you enjoy is running well.
Please more videos of ps4 games on the PS5 pro and i still yet to play and finish second son 💀
I already have a list of games ready to go 🤗
im so glad i decided to upgrade to the pro. i almost decided to keep my ps5 and get a series x. i went and traded it in at game stop, got basically 300 for ps5 disc edition and i traded an extra controller "midnight black" got $25 for it.
@@justin01144 if u traded directly with sony u would have got 353 with two controllers for the disc ps5
Love Dark Souls 3
It's an incredible game.
It’s not automatically turned on. It wasn’t for me anyway. Maybe it differs by region.
Interesting, I could have sworn it was for me, who knows 🤷🏼♂️
yea I had to turn it on in the screen settings menu
Medievil Remake
So happens I covered that on my recent Halloween video, I'm sure it looks great on the Pro.
I platinum once on infamous second sun on my second account
It's so satisfying to get that Platinum trophy 🏆
Nice video !
I don't really agree about inFAMOUS Second Son : in term of story I loved Infamous 1 or 2.
Infamous Festival of Blood was really something..
But it's true : I've never experienced a so fascinating Neon effect in Infamous second son (even more with the sequel, first lights). Too bad we can't have any "remaster" of the old Infamous games.
But I'll follow your advices : I will re launch those games !! Thanks !!!
You're welcome 😊
Festival of Blood was my favorite in the series! I am still bummed that it only play on PS3. I remember playing it during Halloween season when it came it, and I think of that game every Halloween since.
@bsd107 You'll enjoy my recent video where I covered it then, PS3 games still stuck on the PS3 episode 3.
Try edf without the boost mode since sometimes it can tank framerate.
Turning the setting off increased it
@@fastfreeze0183 Oh I see what you're saying, okay, I'll give it a shot and see if it makes a difference 👍
Thank you
You are most welcome 😃
I platinumed the absolute hell outta infamous second son 😂
It's a really good game, I'm kinda amazed at the reactions from some people in me saying it's my favorite of the series, because it is 😅
@@RetroMediaRoom been a huge fan of the infamous series since day one!. It’s a shame they stopped it
You forgot GTA online. On ps4 it’s very laggy. On ps5/ps5 you get a smooth stable 60fps with better visuals
I bet it is, I've never been into GTA Online myself.
Does Monster Hunter World: Iceborne run much better on the PS5 Pro?
I have no idea first hand, I've never played MH World outside of Xbox.
@@SILENT_BMS I have it on regular ps5 and it’s absolutely gorgeous!
everything on pro looks very smooth like a movei,it makes the games lok more like cgi
Gow 4 looks great in PS5 slim
Oh yeah I played it on my base PS5 and it was incredible.
I like god of war 3 fun in heart want give remake awesome
The older god of wars games are far superior imo , not a fan of the newer style camera is way to close
Yeah many people feel that way and I get it, that's what I was trying to convey how different the old formula was, many people aren't even familiar anymore with what God Of War came from.
My base PS5 already makes games look good. I don’t need a 700+ dollar console when the one I have is already good
Sure, that's why I pointed out multiple times that any PS5 model already does a good job, the Pro is for enthusiasts that want a bit more and can afford it, similar to PC gamers spending extra money on higher end graphics cards.
@ I’m just grateful that I was able to even get a PS5. Even if I’m still paying it off 💀💀
Oh I'll never forget how excited I was to land one during the shortages and scalping years ago, I was lucky that Playstation store hit me up with one.
@@RetroMediaRoom oh yeah. I forgot about the chip shortage. I think the PS5’s just became more available a couple years after the release
Yeah that first entire year was very hard for most people to get one.
The EDF series, quirky, janky and utterly fantastic.
Exactly 💯
Try starwars battlefront 2…you will be blewn away
I've really enjoyed it on my Xbox Series X in 120fps 😁
Edf 5 or 6 which is better
✝️ Subbed/Liked! Great VID! God bless in ‘24! ✝️
Thank you, and God Bless to you as well!
And what about god of war 2018 ?
It's final update puts it in too high of a resolution for the image enhancement toggle to work, while I haven't tried it first hand, I highly doubt it would do anything and isn't really needed, any PS5 plays it beautifully.
@ yeah actualy you were right 😊
@@messitv2854 Who was right? I hope I am 😅
@ you of course :) thanks my phone
@@messitv2854 Oh okay, TH-cam's reply system sucks 😄
Infamous 1 and 2 remasters
That would be nice!
Days Gone without a doubt
I absolutely love Days Gone! I haven't tried it out on the Pro so I'm not sure it does anything special, but I have played it on my base PS5 and it's fantastic.
EDF!!!
E...D...F!!!!!!! 😂
It's mainly for enthusiasts, they definitely should have included the disc drive and the stand at $599 rather than none for $699.
This ps5 pro is waste of money I own ps5 original and ps5 slim that's good for me
If you're perfectly happy with your standard PS5s that's absolutely fine, that's why I said in the video that any base PS5 already does a nice job of playing PS4 games, the Pro is for enthusiasts that want maximum picture quality potential for some of their favorite PS4 games, it's really just an excuse for me to cover these cool games that I was going to cover running on PS5 anyway. To each their own, do what is right for you.
Tomb raider on ps4 😮
That ALMOST made this video and it does look nice, it'll be in another episode 😀
we need infamous 3rd daughter
😂😂
Man Second Son is nowhere close to being better than infamous 2 and maybe even the first. Graphically it was a standout on PS4, but in the end the story and character development doesn't have the same impact as Cole's story, and definitely nothing to match the twists. The OST in infamous 2 is much better too.
I figured some fans would disagree, heck I've had some people telling me how much they hated 2 after 1 so opinions everywhere within the series.
@@RetroMediaRoombut those gamers are the one makin fornite popular some opinions are just dumb reality is reality & infamous 2 & 1 its waaay more fun
@@daviidchacon101 I can't stand Fortnite either, but subjectivity is a thing sometimes.
It was awesome in graphics, but a little bit short.
A lil better 😅😅😅😅
More than a "lil better" on PS5, it's night and day in many cases, it's not just solely about the PS5 Pro, the entire point are PS4 games running better on any PS5 console.
Does the ps5 pisser work on all games or just the ones that have ps5 pro ehanced supported
Haha I like the Maximilian pisser reference, I call it that too. No not all games, right now only the developers are able to fully unlock the pisser for PS5 games natively, but in the case of these PS4 games the Pro has the AI-upscaler toggle that enhances the game's visuals without a patch, but it varies a lot from game to game so test accordingly.
all ps4 games got better on ps5. not just 5 games...
I never said it was just these 5, that's not the point of the video at all.
I would worry if they weren't
You never know, things get weird sometimes.
Taking that ramdom game out, all others are good choices.
👍
Just 5?!😓
For now, if people like it I'll want to do more.
Days gone MW2
I almost looked at Days Gone (my game of the year 2019) but there's a possible remaster rumored so I've held off for the moment.
Infamous 1&2 & festival og blood were the best infamous but second son its also fun
Yep fans debate this all the time, that's why they need to bring back the Infamous games so we can play them all on PS5.
And normal ps5
Yes, I addressed that in the very beginning and end of the video that any PS5 does an inherently good job minus the Pro exclusive image quality enhancement toggle.
I knew it was just a matter of time..... PS5 PRO. Is not as bad as people make it out to be cause of the price of course. How much was the base PS5 when it came out $200.00
It was $500 for the disc model and $400 for the digital only model, IMO the Pro should have been $600 with the disc drive and stand included.
Infamous 1 and 2 >>>> Second Son
Yeah many fans feel that way, not this guy 😁
None of them are great.
Shouldn't they all be better on a next gen console?...
Generally yes, some more or less than others, but sometimes people either don't know, never played, or forget to even fire them back up utilizing newer hardware, when they're even available in the first place.
@@RetroMediaRoom Even if the Ps4 game does not have the 4k/60fps patch the Ps5 having the faster ssd load times makes it better .
@Crashed131963 Yes I'm fully aware, hence me making these videos.
You forgot FFXV
I haven't tried it yet 🤷🏼♂️
God of war 3 is the best god of war. Better than these new ones.
Yeah many people feel that way about the OG God of War games, they were very different.
5?
About 150 Ps4 games have the free 4k/60fps patch for ps5 .
It's a select 5 that I chose to cover, I never said only 5. I don't cover triple digit amounts of games in single videos, that would be either a lifeless list, or a 5 hour long video, so that doesn't make any sense for my channel's format.
arkham knight ???
I tried it out, it does a bit on the Pro but nothing earth shattering, better is better though. Any PS5 runs it fine though 👍
@@RetroMediaRoom oh!
Thanks for specifically making this type of video, not many people are showing this review. 😊
@@RetroMediaRoom what about fps tho ?
Does it increase ?
@@RetroMediaRoom what about fps tho ?
Does it increase on the pro ?
It's capped at 30fps since it hasn't been natively updated by the developer, so it's just stable at 30fps.

Enhanced BC and they're still remastering everything
Yeah I'm good with them being selective with what they remaster, especially games that aren't as readily available.

PS4 is real beast 🔥
While Xbox Series X has been my favorite console this current generation, I loved PS4 a lot, but I still really enjoy my PS5, I just play everything, so there's nothing for me to "deal with" 😂
I feel like all this video is telling me about ps4 games, not how much better they look or run
