If he can just stay healthy and pitch anything like the sale we saw some last year with the velo back up and him looking filthy as his old self, thwn it's a huge pick up for the braves, especially as a num3-4 starter

Agree. Sale may not be that top of the line Cy Young finalist guy he was from 2012 to 2018, but he is still a very serviceable starter when healthy. Of course he has a recent injury history and while some of those may be causes for concern, some were fluky as well. Really love that point where he said Red Sox need starters who can pitch lots of innings while the Braves need a depth guy who can help out in October. It really is a win-win for Sale and the Red Sox where Sale can pitch in a lesser role where he doesn't need to make 30 starts and be a Cy Young finalist while the Red Sox can pursue younger/healthier arms to build for the future.

They get Chris Sale to win post season games. It is like Morton, they just want their experiences in October so they can go far in post season. In regular season, they are confident that they are mow down the opposing pitching and win 100 games but that formula just does not work in the post season.

Great insight from Recker. I’m not sure the Red Sox have the temerity to go and get the innings they need, either in the market, or in a trade. Otherwise, Montgomery is already signed. (His wife’s gonna be in Boston for a medical fellowship anyway!) Otherwise, Dylan Cease is already wearing different colored hose. (Him and Eloy for Story and whoever? I’ll take it!) He’s right about the theory, but can the Sox pull it off? I’m not so sure.

Technically, the Braves are getting paid $1M for Sale in 2024. Here's how that works. Sale was traded on the last days of 2023, and the million dollar trade bonus gets paid out in 2023. That $1M is on the Braves 2023 books. The new contract pays Sale $16M in 2024, $22M in 2025, and there's an $18M team option for 2026. The Red Sox send over $17M for 2024. So the Braves pay Sale $1M in 2023, and get $1M in 2024. Paying Sale the $1M in 2023 is better for the Braves for CBT reasons, as is getting paid $1M in 2024.

Yeah. Glasnow making 30 million. Montas making 16 million. Giolito making 20 million are all gross overpays. The Braves are paying Sale 22 million over the next two years with Red Sox 17 million dollars. 🤣💀💀
@@JK-tw3ne GOD that Glasnow deal is the DUMBEST thing ever. What GM looks over his entire body of work and concludes "yeah...that guy's worth 30 a year". Most starts he's ever made was 21 IIRC. Whyyyyyyy would you do that.

If I am AA; I am giving Trevor Bauer a 1 year deal. He would come cheap and if he gave Ozuna a chance to rebuild himself after what he went through; then why not Bauer? Imagine Strider, Fried, Morton, Sale and Bauer as your starting rotation.
