When he said "a single moment that was rooted in presence." it really struck me! Like babies and children don't know how to be anything other than present. Maybe that's why people love to watch them playing and stuff. So carefree and joyous.

I'm a huge fan of Mother Nature. She's both Nature and Nurture. She's a flow of energy and she is life itself. Have you ever noticed what happens to a burned out forest? Dark and barren, little by little the ecosystem returns to sprinklings of green growth renewal. For me she's a metaphor to ride the storm, take care of yourself, be kind and be alert. I have to keep in mind to get out of my mind and expand my view to all of what is reality. She can and will, collide worlds. She's no wallflower!

Nick...it is critical to work on employee engagement. People love to feel valued for being valuable. It is amazing what happens in workplaces when we develop people around their strengths. That is at the core of what 34 Strong does. Nature, and us each taking our own time to be in it, or even notice it when we are inside (noticing the wood grain on a cabinet door for instance and wondering what the tree it came from was like), can be a powerful way to super charge ourselves to be more creative, calmer, and reduce stress. I know exactly all those feelings he talks about in the very beginning. When you're 100% in a moment like that what might seem not super significant to another person hits you with the force of your entire being. It's so profound that yes you feel all those emotions and a huge sense of sorrow that I personally think comes from knowing how disconnected and far from what our lives are truly meant to be like.

One of my best memories is of being at the beach and this whole group of kids rocked up and were having the most amazing time playing in the water. It was pretty obvious that they were on a field trip and when I spoke to one of the teachers they told me most of them had never seen the ocean before. I grew up near the beach so I'd never really thought about how it would feel to see it for the first time but getting that second hand experience from those kids was so pure and beautiful and something I'll always treasure
