You should do a video about how much the point of impact shifts when your bow isn’t level during your shot. Or a video of things you can do in the field to help fix common things that happen to your bow. Or a video of what NOT to do if you’re trying to work on your bow at home. Love the videos man.
good info! I've tinkered a bunch with long range archery "bench" shooting. I like to shoot of the porch with an 80# mach34 with 2 peeps served in. one for my wrist caliper and one for thumb button. the higher thumb button peep is the 150yd plus rear sight. lower peep is for 4mm easton parallel pros and the upper peep is sighted for lightweight stiff BE x impacts. I rest my wrist on a tripod panhead handle at chest height for dialing my shibuya ultima with 5x lens and can typically get 5inch groups on calm days w/no coffee at 175 yds. The weak link in MFJJ setup here is not the geometry but in the sight. with no magnification 200 yard shots would be guesswork. you would need pronghorn vision to place arrows consistently. Its like shooting a 7prc open sight.
Great video. I have my PSE EVO XF 30 at 89# 29" DL shooting a 471 grain axis 4mm long range 160 gns up front with iron will hit insert system. My max is 150 yds wit my top pin on the dialed arxos 3 mag sight. This bow is a beast and shoots great! Headed out for New Mexico archery antelope rn! Have a great day everyone! Thanks MFJJ!
Finally a real long range archer!! I've waited for a long time for somebody to reach out long distance!! Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge!! You are the best archer in the world!!
Bro, that was actually super helpful. I’m shooting a 402 grain arrow and a maxed out at 140 yards. I am definitely going to try a couple of those techniques so I can reach it out a little bit farther. Just for fun. I would never in my wildest dreams take a shot at any animal over 120 yards too many variables.. but you’re awesome
If you want to double/triple this distance you can shoot you can use a mirrored clout sight which allows you to aim up in the air but still aim at the target. (it bends the aiming light path by a set angle). In the Uk/Australia clout shooting is common and great fun.
I use RIP XV 350 spine. Total weight is 357 grains with 22.5% FOC. Arrows are cut to 26" and my draw is 28" shooting 70#s. They will pass through with mechanicals.
That is very interesting! Because a lot of tribes in middle of NM shoot long ranges at 3D tournaments. Out to 150 yards as an example. Thanks for the advice. I'm good up to 120 yards. Going a couple of yards further would be nice.👍
Thanks for all the information from these videos been learning a lot. I’m trying to build an arrow for my wife that shoots a 24.5 inch draw 50lb prima. I’m trying to figure out a good arrow for Mule deer and possibly Elk in Utah.
Been looking into something like a victory VAP 500 spine with a 50 grain insert, 100 grain fixed blade, 3 fletch helical with a halo nock just not sure if this would be good enough for elk.
This is great! Started TAC this past early summer and loved it. This helps me develop my system even more. Some time it would be great to go over peep clarifiers and sight scopes for tac and 3d type events. I put a lens on my scope but ended up taking it off as I still had a blurry image just a larger blurry image. Would like a deep dive on scopes and clarifiers etc. I got the Hamskea system and if you can go over that sometime would be awesome too. Especially for us getting interested in more long distance shooting.
Thanks for putting this video out! I was super curious how you were able to push it out that far without shooting your sight off. I can only dial mine to about 120yds before I'm ripping vanes off with my sight housing, so this explained a lot
How are you getting away with such a light arrow? That’s around 4 grains per pound, doesn’t that void the bows warranty? I’ve always been under the impression that less than 5 grains per pound was essentially a dry fire? Please reply. I’m interested in doing a similar build. Thanks!
It’s definitely interesting information, put this silly little experiment with the knowledge I’ve already got can significantly change my shooting for the better
And here I thought you found a way to hang a pin from the bottom of the sight housing. Always some great information. I wouldn't be able to see the target that far away to justify trying a shot anywhere close to that. Plus I don't think I could pull 80 pounds. Great video. I don't care what the arrow haters are saying.
I'd like to see that video. I used to shoot about 40 years ago and tried this. My equipment was no where near what they are today. I got frustrated and quit. I'm trying to get back in the sport. Yea I went long distance because I was breaking too many nocks with the next shot. Enjoy it while you are able. I now have very strong glasses and shoulder scare tissue. lol Git R Dun and have fun.
Geeking and tweaking - keep up the madness, we love it!! Look forward to witnessing this 190+, and hopefully in person! 🤘🏻P.S. I won’t tell anyone you’re shooting an arrow under 400 grain 😉
The victory xv is what I shoot at tac and consider using it for my hunting arrow.any thoughts on that? Not good? Let me know.thanks for all the great info as always.
I’m glad to see the hamskea epsilon working well on the sx80 (SS34’s higher poundage twin brother) I’m thinking about buying an epsilon with your bracket, and getting rid of my QAD integrate m.x. I put a gillingham 6 degree grip on my SS34 and it feels so good, but the windage knob is tearing the shit out of my hand when I fire and catch the bow. If it weren’t for that, I’d probably leave it, because it shoots darts out to 100. @Podium Archer do you know how I can mitigate this without filing the windage knob smooth? Would I be better off just changing rests? I appreciate the input if you have any. Take care!
Could you please do a comparison video showing the differences/similarities between your One Piece Bracket for Hamskea and the Hamskea Versa Overdraw? I have a 31” draw length. Do you think there’s any utility in adding either of these to my bow specifically so that I can shoot a shorter overall arrow?
Idk how accurately you could do this, but if you were to center the bottom pin in your peep instead of centering the whole housing in ur peep would that extend ur range at all?
I have essentially the same bow (SS34) and sight. The bow shoots good but about. 1/3rd of my site housing is blocked by the riser and strings at full draw. Do you encounter this also? Thanks
Nice demonstration of what affects maximum distance. This is obviously an extreme example. Did you put that sx80 in performance to get the extra little bit of distance?
That’s awesome. One question, how do you install the hamskea rest that far back without it hitting your bow hand? I am shooting the ss34 with the trinity hunter pro
Very cool😁 I've always thought it would be cool to make a bracket for a fast Eddie so the sight housing would go below the arrow. Then you could get 300-350 maybe 😂
Interested to hear your thoughts on minimum arrow weight for your bow poundage - do you think the 5 grains of arrow weight per pound of draw weight is a myth or fact?
When I was wound down for shoulder issues I was using the second knuckle gap instead of the first to give more distance and still shooting decent scores One of the other options for more distance I have seen is the Spot Hogg Hogfather that had a built in prism scope (similar to those used for clout shooting), prism scopes can be a little disorienting If you shoot with both eyes open, as the prism bends the scope view point and your eyes are looking at two different spots (but they give you lots of potential extra distance), downside - the Hogfather was expensive when available and is now very rare and expensive?! and I beleive they were making a loss on it while charging quite a lot
Just a crazy idea but couldn’t you take a long draw bow like an Atlas, set it to 34” and draw it like a traditional Japanese bow with your release hand all the way back by your shoulder. Then you could set your peep several inches higher and range out to maybe 250 or more.
I don't think anyone should give hate for a light target arrow. Now if you're hunting just make it a fixed blade head and I think you're still fine. I would probably still want a stiffer hunting arrow than that at 30.5 83lbs
You said you're shooting under the bow manufacturers gpi?😂 Wait do I miss the bow giveaways? I haven't heard any more mention of them? Also didn't get the call yet? I mean you could bring it to Hawaii. We could set it up in my garage. Then you could spend the rest of the time at the beach ⛱️ 😂😂😂.
I love you MFJJ. How do you not fade out of your peep at that distance? After about 110 i seem to fade out of my peep and start hitting low. If you ever get a chance to do a long range form video that would be awesome!
You need to collab with Dudley. All the new bowhunters follow RF including myself. My common sense kicked in and I gotta tell you, RF is getting all the attention and leading us down the wrong path. You need to combine your influence.
This is awesome!.. great info... now that you've teased us we wanna see those long bombs fly!.. we all wanna see a 200yd group!
You should do a video about how much the point of impact shifts when your bow isn’t level during your shot. Or a video of things you can do in the field to help fix common things that happen to your bow. Or a video of what NOT to do if you’re trying to work on your bow at home. Love the videos man.

Finally a real long range archer!! I've waited for a long time for somebody to reach out long distance!! Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge!! You are the best archer in the world!!
Simple , concise, educational, thanks
Found this extremely help , ready to put together a bow just for TAC /3d stuff and this makes sense to me
Not dumb at all. Helps me understand how the geometry of your set up impacts its useable range. Cool vid!! Thanks
Bro, that was actually super helpful. I’m shooting a 402 grain arrow and a maxed out at 140 yards. That's just awesome getting a bow setup for 200 yards. Bravo to you MFJJ.
Freaking sweet shooting out to those distances! Love the way you are pushing the industry!

That's all awesome info. Thanks my friend Josh J.
Or at least that’s what we hope MFJJ is an acronym for! Hide your wives 😂
@waynestevenson9613 Precisely. Well put Wayne.
Always fun to push your setup and skill to see how far you can really poke.
I use RIP XV 350 spine. Total weight is 357 grains with 22.5% FOC. Arrows are cut to 26" and my draw is 28" shooting 70#s. They will pass through with mechanicals.

This is great information and excellent explanation.
Awesome setup. You should take it hunting this year and shoot something with it

Good stuff MFJJ! My VAP tko 381 total 12%foc shoot 300fps gets me 120 on a ultraview. Love your videos man!
Wow 200yds, congratulations, nice engineering around your bow. How much magnification do you need to aim at this distance?
And here I thought you found a way to hang a pin from the bottom of the sight housing. Always some great information. Great explanation!! Just wish you would’ve shot 200 yards and showed us the proof. Love your videos 😊
He did 190, but he posted it on IG. He probably assumed most follow him over there too
Outstanding information man! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Geeking and tweaking - keep up the madness, we love it!! Look forward to witnessing this 190+, and hopefully in person! 🤘🏻P.S. I won’t tell anyone you’re shooting an arrow under 400 grain 😉
Good video. I think it’s fun to try to see how far you can shoot with some sort of consistency.
Do you have the video of you shooting 200 yards? I would love to see that!
I like it. Great video, and info!
Love the info I have shot out to 86yrds so far but, I’m a new archer!
The victory xv is what I shoot at tac and consider using it for my hunting arrow.any thoughts on that? Not good? Let me know.thanks for all the great info as always.
Not dumb
Really cool
Can’t wait to see it shoot
Flip the sight so the scope is on the inside of the bow between the riser and cables. Even more range.
Man I love this stuff
Really cool video are you still planning on the last bow build video
So what’s your rule of thumb for arrow eight VS poundage ? Or doesn’t the arrow weight really matter ? Been thinking bout making my arrows lighter.
I'm gonna try this!! Sounds smart👌🏿👌🏿
I’m glad to see the hamskea epsilon working well on the sx80 (SS34’s higher poundage twin brother)

This is what I wanna try and do
I would like to see your group at that distance tho. 👍👍👍

Do you think there’s any utility in adding either of these to my bow specifically so that I can shoot a shorter overall arrow?
That’s awesome you should make a video on how exactly you built that set up so I can try
Did you ever make a video of you shooting that bow setup@200yards
Idk how accurately you could do this, but if you were to center the bottom pin in your peep instead of centering the whole housing in ur peep would that extend ur range at all?
Hey MFJJ I have a monster Safari in 85lbs what size arrow I should shoot i’ve been shooting Easton axis for years now I have a 28.5 draw length
I have essentially the same bow (SS34) and sight. The bow shoots good but about. 1/3rd of my site housing is blocked by the riser and strings at full draw. Do you encounter this also? Thanks
Is it possible to put present day 95%let off cams on an older bow designed for 50 65% let off
Nice demonstration of what affects maximum distance. This is obviously an extreme example. Did you put that sx80 in performance to get the extra little bit of distance?
Your the man keep it up
That’s awesome.
This may have been ask or answered, but how many seconds did it take from time of release to target impact .
Interested to hear your thoughts on minimum arrow weight for your bow poundage - do you think the 5 grains of arrow weight per pound of draw weight is a myth or fact?
Yeah, it takes a lot of effort and knowledge to set that up. Maybe not a hunting set up, but very cool still!
Where do you get that extended rest bracket?
When I was wound down for shoulder issues I was using the second knuckle gap instead of the first to give more distance and still shooting decent scores
One of the other options for more distance I have seen is the Spot Hogg Hogfather that had a built in prism scope (similar to those used for clout shooting), prism scopes can be a little disorienting If you shoot with both eyes open, as the prism bends the scope view point and your eyes are looking at two different spots (but they give you lots of potential extra distance), downside - the Hogfather was expensive when available and is now very rare and expensive?! and I beleive they were making a loss on it while charging quite a lot
What do you think about using a single point loop above your arrow instead of a D loop to give you a few more yards?
Just a crazy idea but couldn’t you take a long draw bow like an Atlas, set it to 34” and draw it like a traditional Japanese bow with your release hand all the way back by your shoulder. Then you could set your peep several inches higher and range out to maybe 250 or more.
You should run torqueless loop above your nock as well
MFJJ is my spirt animal I would love for this guy to build a bow for me but he's like 10 hours away keep making awesome videos
How do I get your Hamskey one piece mount
Show closeup of the reconing gen II in METALLIC RED/BLACK :)
Very cool. But show some video of shooting at 200 to!
Awesome!
What is your longest kill shot on any animal?
What degree did you fletch the arrows at
Can i buy a mountain light base?
How do you like those vanes
I like it.
Not dumb at all. You go through what you are doing and why.
Seem legit knowledge
Freaking awesome
I don't think anyone should give hate for a light target arrow. Now if you're hunting just make it a fixed blade head and I think you're still fine. I would probably still want a stiffer hunting arrow than that at 30.5 83lbs
Wait, isn't that arrow too light for the bow?
Got a video shooting that far? I wanna see lol
We need footage of those shots with lighted nocks. Plz.
Its so dumb how ridiculously cool this is
Give us a subjective vid on the DCA vanes. Thanks!
That's fucking awesome
I have 112yrds on my dual trac mountain lite.
How do you increase the peep gap? I ask bc your face doesn't change. (This is legit question).
Looks like a new tac set up
You said you're shooting under the bow manufacturers gpi?😂
Wait do I miss the bow giveaways?
I haven't heard any more mention of them? Also didn't get the call yet?
I mean you could bring it to Hawaii. We could set it up in my garage. Then you could spend the rest of the time at the beach ⛱️ 😂😂😂.
It's fun
That’s cool.
Def interesting
I want to see you hit a 3-d deer at 190. The pin will easily blot out the target
I love you MFJJ. How do you not fade out of your peep at that distance? After about 110 i seem to fade out of my peep and start hitting low. If you ever get a chance to do a long range form video that would be awesome!
Fun fun
I believe you lighter further period!!!
Nice
No shots?
U da man mfjj 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Can you please do a video on using a nose button?
Bad ass set up mfjj, wanna see some of them laonh bombs lol
