IS YOUR PEEP SIGHT IN THE RIGHT LOCATION?

  • Proper peep placement based on your unique anatomy and facial features is critical to archery accuracy and consistency. The placement of your peep sight will determine your anchor, and your anchor will determine the position of the arrow on your face. If your peep is in the wrong position, your anchor and arrow placement will be as well. John Dudley of Nock On Archery will teach you how to find your correct peep position and share a tip to locate it quickly and easily on any new bow you set up.

I'm sure we're in the few minority as releases seem the way to go for most but I'd be curious on your thoughts and maybe a video talking point?

    John,
    Thanks you for everything that you have shared over the years on how to properly setup, tune, and shoot a bow. Three years ago, I borrowed a bow from a friend that took me whitetail hunting for the first time, and that year and I tagged my first deer. Fast forward to today, I now refurbish and build my own custom bows, hydrodip and make graphics, build my own arrows, make my own strings and cables, and tune everything myself! I can truly say that I wouldn’t have acquired half the knowledge to do any of that without your help through sharing your knowledge. Now I’m completely hooked and can’t stop launching arrows. This has also turned into a full family hobby/sport for myself and my young kids. I can’t thank you enough, sir! Your dedication to sharing knowledge is appreciated more than you would ever know. God bless you and your family!

    Hi John. I am really struggling with my peep position. I have a long draw say about 31-31.5". I have the nock on embark so as you know the draw length on it is only 30.5" max. In order to have perfect position (corner of my mouth and nose tip) of the string on my face i have to bend my bow arm. If i keep my bow arm straight my anchor point moves forward on my face. The problem is that the peep moves further away from my eye. This makes the peep seem smaller and thus the sight dont fit. The sight is forward as far as it can be (cbe tactic). If i take a peep one size bigger, it is far too big. So i tried moving the peep lower on the string but this cause me to move my head down to make nose to string contact to see through the peep. As said in your video, this is not good at all. I move the peep back to where i dont have to move my head and i cant align my sight with the peep. How do i fix this? Do i have to get special cams or is there a simpler way to correct this? Can i dril out the peep (composite)? Is there over size modules that i need? I dont want to shoot with a bent bow arm to see properly through the peep.

    John, once I found your channel I have been swallowing up your training videos like crazy. I got my first bow about a month ago and have found your teaching to be the most useful, by far. I now use your 6 step process each time I pick up the bow.
    One question regarding peep height. Can you get that vertical measurement by measuring the distance of your pupil to the space between lip and chin with a ruler in front of a mirror?
    Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

      Hi Gary - Personally, I am not a nose button or kisser button fan. For sharper string angles the draw length may need to come back a little further and use a slightly smaller d-loop to make up the difference.

    Dud, I saw years ago that you want to lower your peep so that you don't have a floating hand when shooting at longer distances. Any solution to get around that? I have lowered my peep, but I also seem to have my triple stack and fletching contact at 100 yards at 74#. I think that my peep is centered at 60 yards. I would think that I could get a bit more range. Your expertise is much appreciated.

    • @nockonarchery
      @nockonarchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For events like TAC where you are shooting longer distances I center my peep for 60. The problem is that a triple stack can have a larger housing, which can create more interference. For long range shooting you will want a small sight housing. Back in the day with some of my older sights I would use a plum bob and come straight down off of my pins and add a pin to the top of my bubble, which would give me another 10 yards or so. I would wrap it around the bubble and adhere it with 5 min. epoxy. It worked perfectly for another yardage marker at the bottom of my housing. You can consider doing something like that as well. Good luck!

    • @ObamaOsucksOass
      @ObamaOsucksOass 2 ปีที่แล้ว
