Lemon Glaze Icing for Lemon CC Pound Cake

    Ingredients below:
    This is a basic lemon glaze icing recipe made specifically for the Lemon Cream Cheese Pound Cake also on this channel. It can be altered or quickly changed up to glaze any cake. The base is confectioner sugar and milk .... the rest is however you want to flavor it, tasting all along until you get the flavor and consistency that you desire. (ex. pineapple, rum almond .... etc.) It's all done with flavoring.
    Lemon Glaze Icing
    1 & 1/2 to 2 cups of Confectioner Powdered Sugar
    3 to 4 tablespoons of milk (whole, 2%, half & half, canned)
    2 to 3 tablespoons of Lemon Juice (pulp, zest)
    1 teaspoon Lemon (Extract) Flavoring
    Do as you saw on video (add a little at a time and stir until you can see where you are going with this). Place sugar in bowl and add wet ingredients a little at a time all the while stirring until it looks and taste the way that YOU want it. You can make it as thick/thin as you like and if you want more glaze start by adding more sugar then figure out the wet ingredient ratio. Enjoy!!!

    Great recipe! If I wanted to just do strawberry glaze instead of lemon, do I go about it like you did with the lemons?

      Hello Keya, yes, you would add some of the juice (reducing the amount of milk) and pieces of strawberry to the powdered sugar for icing. No need for the lemon flavoring in the cake batter or icing. Use vanilla flavoring instead. Same for the lemon pudding in the cake batter, use vanilla pudding instead if your desire is to end up with a strawberry type cake. It's not always possible to make changes to a recipe when baking but you should be safe making these changes. Come back and let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching and be blessed.

      I made a simple pound cake and a strawberry icing and it turned out great! I just brought some strawberry extract and instead of lemon I used that would your given measurements. That helped me a lot thank you. You be blessed as well :-)

    I'm not sure of you'll respond because this video is from a while ago but I was wondering if u have to refrigerate after because of the milk in it?

      Hey Ivan, no need to refrigerate. It will keep very well on you counter tightly sealed for at least 3 -4 days. If it is not totally eaten by then, wrap it well in plastic wrap then place in gallon bag and freeze. You will be amazed at how it tastes when thawed, just like fresh baked. Freeze from the beginning if family is small and you know it won't be completely eaten quickly. Then later when you want something sweet or have guest or want to share a special treat ..... you've got cake. It will last a long time. I have kept it for close to a year and it is still as good as day 1. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and be blessed.

    I did it just like you said but it the Icing never stuck on the cake and the cake had cooled down. Should the cake be really cold or cool or hot. I don't know what I done wrong please help. Thanks

      +Spicy Creole Lady Hey Spicy Creole Lady, I'm sorry the icing didn't work out just right but I think there is a simple quick fix. The cake should be totally cool to cold. The warmer it is the more the icing will soak in. That won't give you the look you want but the flavor will be there. Your situation is either due to the cake being too warm or the icing being too thin. Make thin icing thicker by increasing sugar or decreasing liquid. Sounds like you did a good job and are on the right track if the taste was there. Was it good? Just make the above adjustments and you should be fine. Please let me know about taste. I was so frustrated it didn't come out right because I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to cooking lol. The flavor was indeed great but yes I think that my cake wasnt all the way cool to cold. So I will give it another try today and see if it yields better results for me for I'm not for sure if I heard you say in the video to make sure the cake is completely cool so I figured it was OK for me to go ahead and put the Icing on 1 hr after being out of the oven.       +Spicy Creole Lady hey Spicy Creole Lady, yes if the flavor was there you did a good job with it. Sometimes (especially with pound cake) you have get the hang of it and you really can get frustrated if you demand perfection from yourself. But I'm proud of you because overall your cake was good and you sound like you were baking like a pro.
