Met Paul at a gig in Vancouver Canada. What a great guy. He jumped down off the stage to talk to us..he's in his 80s. He is a legend . There are not many guys like Paul around these days . Very talented and inspiring guy.
Paul Jones you been a bad bad boy. The best vocals ever. I remember like yeserday the first time I heard him fronting Manfred Mann. What a privilege to have this interview.
I met and chatted to Paul and other members of the Blues Band at the bar in the Gordon Theatre in Stevenage some years ago. If my memory is any good the keyboard player that night was a relation of Jools Holland.
Just two guys chatting but totally engrossing. Respect and listen to your elders, they’ve got the stories. A British Blues history lesson worth listening too. Thanks guys.
What a performer -still blasting out those Manfred hits - his harmonica playing is amazing - saw him a couple of years ago in Redditch - so good - we named our band after his film The Priveledge - keep rocking Paul
What a great doco !!! thank you !! I'm 74 now, but I remember from 1964 so clearly !! One of my great experiences was when I went to art school in RMIT in Melbourne in 1967, I caught the suburban train into the city to buy the Manfred Mann EP which had "Watermelon Man " on it !!! and back on the train again...just for that EP ! We really dug "MANNMADE "....It,s so wonderful to see you so well-preserved Paul !! ...and a very decent guy, I wish you all the best !! Jack, Brisbane, Australia
Saw him last night, Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. He was great and his harmonica playing was phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, especially PP Arnold and Jess Stone.
Saw Paul Jones in the 1960's on his Australian tour. That night was very special.... Performing were The WHO, Small Faces, Paul Jones! All were outstanding. Manfred Mann was a great band and led the way for so many other bands!
Thank you Tom for an amazing interview. I learnt such a lot from this. You really allowed Paul to search deeply into his memories without talking over him like so many interviewers do. First class job.
Met him as a schoolboy in Sunderland in short pants! He took time to sit down with us and list the harmonica keys for all his tracks! A true gentleman.!
I saw Paul and his wife , singing songs from some of the show, in a church a few years ago, he played the harmonic brilliantly, his wife had a wonderful voice..
Paul's radio show in the UK in the 80s was amazing. He played all kinds of obscure blues and RnB from brand new releases right back to the really early stuff. Turned me on to all kinds of obscure music. Great man.
That opening clip is LIVE!!!!!. You can see the Drummer turning the "Snares" on and off on the Snare drum. Paul Jones is also a Great Harp Player. Tom, you did a Great job interjecting Video and Photos in this.
Have been lucky enough to see Paul a number of times including many of his shows with the Manfreds at the old Chiddingfold club. Always a real gent, superb singer and great harmonica player. Great evenings! Paul has a fantastic knowledge of the blues and fronted the radio 2 blues show for many years. He is a real legend and darn him unlike me ,he looks younger with every passing year.😊🙏
Went to see The Manfreds ( no Manfred Mann) recently in Glasgow! What a fantastic night! Both Paul Jones and Mike d’Abo were there, so they played all the hits plus d’Abo did songs he’d written for others, he’s funny too! Get along to see them next year as they are touring again!
Paul must be the nicest superstar ever!. I modelled myself on him when I was a teen singing blues and playing the harp here in South Africa in our school boy band called Company Limited. I became a christian and walked away from the music and also the drugs. I became a pastor and years later I was re-united with blues music and THE BLUES BAND! God bless you Paul.
One of my first 45s I ever bought was 5 4 3 2 1. Started my love affair of the Manfreds. Had all of Lonnie Donegan records as well. Thanks Paul, Awesome.
Knew Paul in Portsmouth when he was at school at the Portsmouth Grammer school. We used to go weekend nights down to Graham s basement to meet and jive . Great days ,he was a nice guy
Oh WOW, fantastic interview, thank you! Paul is looking amazing, and still very good looking. He looks younger than me, I was 73 on 9th Feb., I live in Portsmouth and have done for nearly forty years! I had no idea he's from here!
The Beatles and many most British bands were extremely popular in Canada far ahead of the USA. PJ had a fantastic voice, and Manfred Mann went on to become an excellent band with Solar Fire, absolutely fantastic.
I’ve seen several 60s groups both then and now. Recently, sadly , often just faded memories of their former selves . But not Manfred Mann ( minus Manfred) ! Amazing, entertaining and still musical! And as for Paul Jones , who was with them for this concert, wonderful, just wonderful!
Was privileged to see the Manfreds tonight in Epsom .the band were brilliant and Paul’s vocals were incredible and powerful…82 years young he’s brilliant just brilliant.
That was a great conversation! Thank you for putting this up to let us enjoy it. There's a story about that last video piece that you wrapped it up with. They had to stick the screaming in every time they got to the last line of the chorus. Obviously, we know why, but I can't recall if it was American or Brit censorship that made it happen. Anyway, he seems like a very cool guy who had a lot of success that I never knew about until today. Thanks, again!
Fun fact about this man, he voiced a couple characters in aome audio dramas produced by Philip Glassborow, including an adaptation of the Chronicles of Narnia for Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, as well as Billy Budd Sailor, also from Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, where he voiced the main antagonist Mr. John Claggart. Keep up the great work sir, you amaze me, and hope you do more audio plays with Philip in the future.
Fantatsic interview. I first saw The Blues Band live in 1992, but as a 14 year old teenager, I was already listening to Pual Jones' Rhyhtm and Blues show on radio 2. I also enjoyed watching a BBC TV. series called Uncle Jack, not realising it was the same person as the lead, aka Paul Jones. Seen Paul at various times since then, the last veing his annual chairty gig at G Live, in Guildford. He's so good. Must attend one of his solo big/small band shows sometime.
The Bridge Tavern in Portsmouth, my brother and I would listen to your group rehearsing in that pub, we were both very young but we would sit by the bridge and listen. I think I recall being told you were attending school here?
Whether it's with the Blues Band or The Manfreds, Paul is still a great entertainer and musician. Yes, he's 81 soon and obviously won't last forever so go and see him while you can. I've been a Stones fan all my life but, to be honest, I would rather see Paul and a good band play than the Stones as they are now.
Such an interesting interview. I remember "Why should we Not" as my school friend bought it at the time along with several instrumentals at the time as he was learning to play guitar. Hoping to see The Manfreds soon. Keep up the good work Paul!
Remember Paul from the 60s. Have seen him several times since at The Theatre Royal in Wakefield performing with The Manfreds. Great shows, very talented performer.
Back in the 60’s a lot of great bands came with the British Invasion. “ what a great time to be a teenager, I loved every band that came to the U.S.👍👏👏👏♥️🌺🌹
Gosh he looks and sounds great. Always did thinking back of course. I remember him coming into the Wholemeal restaurant to pick up his macrobiotic or vegetarian meal in 70-71. Lovely guy.🙏🎵
Great interview, always wondered what had happened to him after Pretty Flamingo. Notice when the live version of Go Now is playing the words, "you'll have stay all night" has been made inaudible. One of his singles, When I Was Six Years Old is a Brian Cadd composition, Caddy is a bit of a legend here in Australia.
I'll wager Paul has Welsh blood, not merely because his surname is Jones, but his parents' musical tastes, including loving Ivor Novello (Ivor Novello Davies) a famous Welsh composer.
I saw the Manfreds on the Gold Coast at Twin Towns, Coolangatta around 1997. I was seated front and centre (fan boy section) with my 24 year old girlfriend who Paul noticed and to whom he proceeded to hand the microphone to during the Do Wa Diddy audience sing back. My girlfriend chickened out and wouldn’t look up so Paul stopped singing (with the band still playing) and stared her out with the spotlight on both of them for a deliberate uncomfortable amount of time enjoying her embarrassment, smiling all the while. I motioned to Paul that I would do her singing however he didn’t notice me; he only had eyes for her.
Met Paul at a gig in Vancouver Canada. What a great guy.
He jumped down off the stage to talk to us..he's in his 80s.
He is a legend . There are not many guys like Paul around these days .
Very talented and inspiring guy.
Paul was such a good singer and still is. He was my first pinup. Gorgeous! He's nearly 82! WOW! Still looks great!
Paul is a brilliant harmonica player as well as a talented singer &still looks great
Great guy superb artist his songs are amazing⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Paul Jones you been a bad bad boy. The best vocals ever. I remember like yeserday the first time I heard him fronting Manfred Mann. What a privilege to have this interview.
I remember Manfred Mann's early years and I listened Paul Jones' High Time just now. I am a native from Peru, now in Miami, USA.
From u.k.
I’m 66 now, and followed him in the blues band.
He doesn’t age!
Great entertainer!
I met and chatted to Paul and other members of the Blues Band at the bar in the Gordon Theatre in Stevenage some years ago. If my memory is any good the keyboard player that night was a relation of Jools Holland.
Good-looking great voice some of my most favourite songs as a teenager still love them now man he still looks great
Just two guys chatting but totally engrossing. Respect and listen to your elders, they’ve got the stories. A British Blues history lesson worth listening too. Thanks guys.
Wow! what a great presentation......loved this. 1964.... Do Wah Diddy , A Hard Day's Night, It's All Over Now......What a summer.....
I loved that song and that band ! The 60’s had the best music!
I saw Paul and The Manfreds in Liverpool back in October playing all their great 60's songs, fantastic, they've still got it !!!!!!!
Great artist / performer . Immense stage presence.
Totally agree..😊
great artist from the sixties and now. keep going paul
What a performer -still blasting out those Manfred hits - his harmonica playing is amazing - saw him a couple of years ago in Redditch - so good - we named our band after his film The Priveledge - keep rocking Paul

Paul will be 82 in Feb 2024! He’s looking good
Bone structure, it's the answer!
He looks fantastic!
82 ? Never . I would say early seventy.
Saw him last night, Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. He was great and his harmonica playing was phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, especially PP Arnold and Jess Stone.
He's not looking lood....he's looking bloody fantastic....
What a brilliant interview, thank you both for this, tremendous stuff!
Tom is the best!!
Saw Paul Jones in the 1960's on his Australian tour. That night was very special.... Performing were The WHO, Small Faces, Paul Jones! All were outstanding. Manfred Mann was a great band and led the way for so many other bands!
What a voice, and what a career. Great interview, thanks for posting.
best interview I've ever seen on youtube. 81!- unbelievable! keep it up Paul. looks 30 years younger.
Used to watch him on Top of the Pops in the 60’s ❤️
Wonderful interview great to hear Paul l enjoyed it so much ❤
Thank you Tom for an amazing interview. I learnt such a lot from this. You really allowed Paul to search deeply into his memories without talking over him like so many interviewers do. First class job.
Great show at the Weston-s-Mare playhouse thanks Paul and the gang!
Met him as a schoolboy in Sunderland in short pants!
He took time to sit down with us and list the harmonica keys for all his tracks!

You were the best on Jools Holland on new years eve Paul 😎👏🤩❤
I saw Paul and his wife , singing songs from some of the show, in a church a few years ago, he played the harmonic brilliantly, his wife had a wonderful voice..
Really preferred the formative years when Paul was the lead singer - he wears bloody well !
Mike D'abo was equally good as the lead singer.
Great band and Paul looks amazing, the mrs knew him quite well back in the day.
Thank you Paul for all the great music. I loved Manfred Mann and other British pop.
Paul and Mike d'arbo are keeping real music going, saw them and the Manfreds a few weeks ago, and many times before !
Paul's radio show in the UK in the 80s was amazing.
He played all kinds of obscure blues and RnB from brand new releases right back to the really early stuff.
Turned me on to all kinds of obscure music.
Great man.
I love music history, thanks Paul for sharing..

Looking pretty good for 81 I must say.
Back also to those days of sneaking a listen to “Radio Caroline” the pirate station (Supposedly) …
What a great singer!
Remember seeing the Blues band at Bridge House Canning town, great live band, fantastic lineup, brilliant "bootleg" album. Stay well Sir.
Thanks Paul for getting me into the Blues , radio 2 show
I used to enjoy his Blues show on Radio 2.
His interviews on Jazz FM/JFM were legendary. Love to know if they were preserved at all.
when I was a kid (French, before I moved to UK age 20), one of my favorite song was "Ha ha said the clown".
He's in great nick!
Man o man , you guys look great . Thanks for your fabulous music you gave us in the FUN sixties .
this retro 60s stuff is so cool. i just love to see people like paul jones holding forth on them. what a trip!!!
Your looking good Paul ,I grow up on Manfred Mann ,I remember a girl friend buying me one of your EPs
Paul, you are taking me back in time! Wonderful music back then, the great change I call it within music. 👍👍👍

Great singer, great music. That takes me way back.
Looks 20 years younger than he is. Very talented actor also, remember him in an episode of The Sweeney.

Absolutely 😘 love this voice
He was so very good when he played at London's National Theatre in the production of "Guys and Dolls". An excellent performance.

I became a christian and walked away from the music and also the drugs. I became a pastor and years later I was re-united with blues music and THE BLUES BAND! God bless you Paul.
What an absolute star of an interviewer!!.....Just the odd comment to steer the stories. Great job mate

What a great video! I absolutely loved it, thanks.
Interesting content about the roots of British rock and pop plus loads of fascinating stuff about the Manfreds and Paul`s later career .
Like Mr. Marriott Paul Jones has a unique voice. Great interview. Thank you very much.

Paul Jones still rocks!
Sang beautifully my favourite song...
"if I can't feel your tender touch - then baby, I love you too much".
I still got a Harmonica Paul gave me many many years ago when he was In Cardiff.
Saw him Leeds in May 2023, great night out at the City Varieties. Pretty Flamingo was my favorite.
I'll wager Paul has Welsh blood, not merely because his surname is Jones, but his parents' musical tastes, including loving Ivor Novello (Ivor Novello Davies) a famous Welsh composer.
Wonderful man, put all the younger acts to shame on Joel's Holland New Year 24 Bash
