You sound like the guy from " rocked" TH-cam channel
I saw Yes in 1984 and 2012. The latter performance Chris Squire was pretty sloppy yet passable. He rocked the three neck bass for a couple songs and was entertaining. Alan White was horrible. He could barely play. I'll bet his drum mics were turned up so loud they were afraid the PA would get major feedbcack. Steve Howe was on fire. He may have missed the first two records but he really kept this band alive. Geoffrey Downs was killing those keyboard too. I do believe Yes died with Chris Squire but those two guys will at least push the band live. Getting rid of Alan White necessary to achieve that goal though.
Add the Rolling Stones to the list too.
There are hundreds of millions worldwide of baby boomers, gen X'ers, and Millennials around the world voting with their wallets to see these bands. As long as the $$$ flows, these bands will continue to tour.

except in the case of KISS
@@BarkingSpiders-km7oj Correct. KISS is all gimmick and no substance. They suck, and always have.
I think it's normal Rossi and Parfitt are not talking, one of them is dead.
Whatever machine intelligence created this needs some fact checking. Mick Mars hasn't been a member of Motley since October of '22. It probably isn't in the best of taste to say he looks like a statue on stage either.
Alan White is not alive either. RIP. But lets not let facts get in the way...

I'm saying.. Who has the right to tell bands to stop doing what they love.. What ever.
Just the people who purchase (or don’t) over priced tickets to the shows…
Well I agree with your sentiment but once all the original members are gone I think it’s time to pack it in.
I agree 100%. Except for Mötley Crüe, they’re cooked lol. Mick was a true monster tone guy, best part of that band, unfortunately, he’s dealing with a terrible disease and no longer a part of the band.
Fans do. They pay their bills
I think most only say it so they bow out on top and not go until you walk on stage with a cane. Time passage is inevitable. The only time I ever agreed with Grace Slick was when she said, I don’t think grandparents in their 60’s and 70’s should be on stage acting like a rock star.
NEVER let A.I. write your script.
So true, I;m sick of these AI generated videos that can't get facts right. Francis Rossi is turning 75 this month.
Ai is huge tragedy
This must be an old video. Some of these bands are retired, keep referring to 2015 being a future tour and gwenyth and Chris have been divorced since 2016
Alam White from Yes passed away a little over a year ago, but he is mentioned as a current band member!

Ya think?
Lynyrd Skynyrd IS a " tribute" band now.
TRUE !
With Gary being the last original member passing away, there is no Skynyrd.
I saw them about 15 years ago, their performance was so sad that a large portion of the audience walked out (including myself). Even then they seemed like a cover band mailing in a performance.
Brought my boy to see them a few years ago at the Minnesota State Fair. To me, the only person that was present was the pianist. He was actually having fun. Whomever was singing was chewing gum. Really.
There was 2 opening acts, neither of which I would pay for before going to this show. Once seeing them, I changed my mind.
Collective Soul. Yeah I know, but they were up there having fun and putting on a show. Not a fan, but I would see them again because they brought it. They performed.
Even though they had better songs, Lynyrd Skynyrd did not. Big disappointment.
Also, brought the boy to Mötley Crüe's "all bad things must come to an end" tour. Only because tickets weren't selling, parking cost as much as the tickets.
Alice Cooper opened. Alice brought it, Crüe didn't. Tommy had a big roller coaster upside down rolling whatever, but played along to other peoples music like he was in his basement. Could have been much better, but nope. Neil Peart he is not.
I would go tsee Alice again. Not Crüe. Plus, that was supposed to be their retirement tour. Supposed to be.
My parents seen them couple months ago with ZZ Top and said they where incredible. Their entire set was great and better than ZZ Top as ZZ was good.

John Lennon sealed the Beatles legend by pulling the plug at the right time, and never looked back. Genius move. Paul was 28, George was 26, John and Ringo were barely 30.
John Lennon broke the Beatles up on Sept 20, 1969. Ringo (July 7, 1940) had just turned 29. John (October 9, 1940) was still 28. Paul (June 18, 1942) was 27, and George (February 25, 1943) was 26. Paul is less than 9 months older than George.
The McCartney (leaving the Beatles) announcement date (April 10, 1970) isn't the real date. Paul, George, and Ringo did go into the studio to do some finish up work on a couple Let it be songs (Let it Be/I, Me, Mine) in the first few days of January of 1970, but the Beatles were already through by then.
So, the Beatles were actually
26 George
27 Paul
28 John
and 29 Ringo
when they broke up. None had reached the age of 30.
I think myself and many original Kiss fans felt they should have ended the band after Peter and Ace left
@@michaelharrington75 I just went roughly. But I do appreciate your rectifications Michael. Thanks!
@@X-Ray.Romano It's amazing what those men done by the age of 30. Absolutely astonishing!
John Lennon faked his death and moved to Canada and later to Traverse City, MI. He changed his name to Mark Staycer and died recently. He became a…get this…Lennon “impersonator”. Yeah, I know… it sounds completely ridiculous. Truth is much stranger than fiction. Staycer somehow owed millions of dollars worth of Lennon’s iconic guitars and recording equipment. There’s a fake documentary that came out around 2008 called “Let Him Be”. There’s even new Lennon music. There’s a guy who wrote a 50 page paper of proof. It’s wild. All the world’s a stage. Lennon’s “murder” was a psychological operation that traumatized the public. It was very successful. Yeah, I think outside the box…so I’m one of those “conspiracy theorists”.

Everyone of these bands you've listed is still WAY better than anything new artists are putting out.
Respect your opinion
As far as Styx goes, Dennis de young left eons ago, and with Larry gowens vocal talents and keyboard prowess, Im willing to bet they will last a long time yet
Who knows
As long as Tommy Shaw stay on, they will keep going.
Styx' two most recent albums are excellent as well.
I just saw STYX this past October. They were awesome and still sounded great. I had a front row seat and it was well worth the money I spent.
@@cathykushner8903 I saw Styx in 2011 when they opened for YES. It was my first and only time seeing Styx (I've seen YES many times) and they were really good, especially since they didn't play "Babe", which YES enthusiasts wouldn't be crazy about (we love the Grand Illusion album). The only problem was that they (Styx) were WAAAAAAY too loud. I've been to many, many concerts over the decades, and Styx was the second loudest show I've ever been to. Maybe it was the venue, but when YES came on, they had a normal volume level, so I dunno, but anyway......yeah, Styx did a good show.
pretty sure Alan White isn't carrying on anymore, since he died over a year ago
So did Rick Parfitt.
You missed Corey Feldman. Horrid and wont stop. Some of the worst 😊
He's absolutely horrendous. 💯 He actually thinks he's Michael Jackson and after Corey Haim passed away, Feldman released a book where he's talking trash about his late friend. What a scumbag
Come on man! Corey has single-handedly created a totally new genre: Douchepop! Give that man some credit!😝💯🫡
yea , I didnt even know the guy did that till couple weeks ago a video popped up , very sad it was, he should be #1 on list
The dude can't sing, and doesn't have a musical talent in his entire body !
Corey Feldman was AT BEST a d- list musician. Don’t compare him to real musicians and bands in this list. He’s only a joke.
It’s remarkable how many failed musicians and jealous fans have so much bullshit to spew about bands -people who were once incredible.
What have you done? Changed oil , call center, desk job, etc ?
THERE IS NO “ NEXT GENERATION “ of Rock Icons . This is it.
What we have now is garbage and musicianship must be sought out. When 90’s bands became Classic Rock …the beginning of the end of The Rock Concert Era.
New Rock Music is not really Rock , it’s Pop with loud guitars and people pretending to be rough and tumble Rockers .
Yes , I’m an old asshole who thinks today’s entertainment is shit.
Same here music today is absolutely piss.
Theres loads of great rock bands if you look for it. Most is underground and not as well known.
I thought that too . Try The Darkness. I'm a Virgo just like you.
I am in my 60s and I am still a huge fan of Yes. But to not have Jon Anderson as the front man is just ridiculous. You are right it would be like seeing a Yes tribute band. I was fortunate to see them twice in my life. Once with Patrick Moraz on keyboards and once with Rick Wakeman. Both concerts were just excellent. I never got to see them with Bill Bruford on drums which would have been a real treat.
You can’t have Yes without Jon Anderson and Chris Squire
@@mbrownie22 Yeah, it was really too bad that Chris Squire wasn't present for the Yes induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Your Status Quo info is quite out of date. while it is true that rossi and parfitt rarely speak (or don't talk anymore) it is not for the reasons implied, parfitt died in 2016

I think the true fans of these groups will always go see them. Will they bring in new fans? No. Look, if Jerry Garcia was still alive I'd be going to see The Grateful Dead. Without Jerry? No, I do not go to Dead and Company
Not necessarily. I paid $50 to see a few of these bands in their prime, if you think I'm going to pay todays $200-$800 to see them as a bunch of geriatrics, you're dreaming!
Metallica brings in new fans all of the time. What are you talking about?
The Other Ones were good while they lasted
This video maker probably thinks Jerry Garcia is alive, too.
This video is not aging well! Many of the people who are in these videos have already joined the "Big Band in the Sky." Perhaps a refresh might be in order???
The big band in the sky, I would go to see that 😁
It hasn't "aged" at all. It's only 7 days old. The video maker is a kid using all the AI he learned about in a video about how to make money using nothing but AI. It's bait piece.
Motley Crue is not a bunch of middle aged guys, they’re in their 60’s. That makes them seniors.
umm, didn't Alan White die a couple of years ago?
Yeah, I was gonna say….. How can anyone miss on a news like that.
Since he died he doesn't tour as much as he use to.
People think that U2 has sold out? What the hell does that mean. Also Damon Almon? Who the hell is he and what makes his opinion matter?
Damon is the primary songwriter for the majority of songs of Blur & Gorillaz
Extremely well regarded and innovative bands, very popular in UK
Don't think they ever tried in USA, perhaps 'Song 2' being the only one heard there at sporting events
HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU MISS MADONNA?! Listen, I LOVED Madonna's music but she was caught on stage wearing "Depends" not that long ago.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Madonna is a vocalist not a band
I hate to say this, but Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd is gone now. There are no original members left. I think it's time for them to sit down. I also think Journey ought to sit down too. Only original member left is Neal Schon and he's just in it for the money. They should have sat down after Steve Perry left. We all know Steve was the real reason anyone listened to them. Steve left and so do the serious fans.
Perry was only a average singer with limited vocal capacity, who started suffering the 'Messiah Effect'. Arnel on the other hand, is a charismatic powerful singer with a vocal range very similar to the late great Freddy Mercury, whom brought new ideas and vocals to a then stale band. Both singer are similar in sound but very different capabilities.
We saw Journey several years ago and they were great! Same thing with Foreigner. We've also seen Steve Miller, Peter Frampton, Heart, ZZ Top, and many more and had a great time at all of them.

The original drummer of styx passed away a long time ago. Styx is doing fine without de young.
Musicians will always be musicians. We marvel as rock ‘n’ roll fans at bands like the stones in their 70s still touring but nobody bats an eye about a classical piano player or violinist still touring in their 90s. Musicians will do what musicians do, play music. My only complaint are the ticket prices for some of these bands, I’d rather see them in a much smaller venue for an affordable price otherwise I’ll just go see a tribute band that actually tries harder.
Yes, The Beach Boys should have retired years ago.
Not really. Just Brian. Mike could still do it, maybe not now but a few years ago yes.
Limp Bizkit has always been crap. They're self aware, I mean, they did name their latest album Limp Bizkit Still Sucks
they are great live
Really????
Nu Metal is a joke!
Ironically it's their best album tho..
The first album wasn't terrible. It was actually heavy.
How dare you add Metallica to this list. Have you heard them live lately? Especially the Elton John cover of Funeral for a Friend/ Love Lies Bleeding. They are peaking once again in live performances. People have been saying Metallica sold out since Ride the Lightning album with the song Fade to Black. One of their best songs btw. People saying they sold out nowadays are ridiculous since they own their own label and have no one to answer to. Why stop playing when you can sell out any stadium in the world at will? They still have it and will continue on.
I haven’t given a penny to any of these bands since 2001, however if people want to pay to see them I don’t see the problem. I’d rather be in any of these acts till I’m 80 than being a no one. And so would you too.
I'd play in front of a 20,000 crowd for free. Must be Fkin awesome
The Who should play till Pete and Roger die. They know there is no other choice
Best reason I've heard. 😊

It’s the only way they will get what they’re after.

Alan White from yes passed a few years ago
I've seen him perform many, many times. In his last few years, he could play just fine, but couldn't do an entire set because of his infection in his joints, but for the part of the set he did play, he did just fine.
YES made a plan as far back as the 90's to replace themselves with younger great artists so that the band could go on. That is the point. Mick Mars left Motley Crue, so insulting him was lame. This whole video was lame.
I think if a band still sounds great and sells out concerts then...yeah continue but if they sound terrible then retire

At the time of Charlie Watts's death, the Rolling Stones should have done a Led Zeppelin. Keith Richard's and Mick Jagger are both hard to look at and listen to. Keith just seems to want to bad mouth other groups or musicians.
I just have one question. Who is the little old lady that is now fronting REO Speedwagon?
I'd have thought it was Elizabeth Warren but noticed the lack of feather headdress.
Coldplay-Yellow was a great original song but, all of their other songs sound so much the same-I play piano-it sounds like the same kind of plug and play piano pattern. I feel grateful to have seen the Beach Boys in concert 43 yrs ago! After 40 yrs of doing the same thing-it's time for a career change!
Bruce Springsteen, John “cougar”mellencamp
U2 was never my thing, Skynard Still Rocks !
I’m surprised Eagles aren’t on this list: Only 1 original member is still there. 2 are dead, 1 exiled, & their performances have been subpar since Glen Frey’s death. Don Henley’s one of music’s biggest egomaniacs. Randy Meisner’s departure ruined everything, plus his health issues didn’t help either (& now he’s also in a better place) & the fact the fan base is still split between the Bernie Leadon era & the Joe Walsh era doesn’t help either. Why can’t they just Take It Easy & retire already?
I think the reason why they’re not on this list is because Mister Lord Voldemort here won’t let up on the TH-cam content lawsuits, AND HE’S STILL GOING TO THIS VERY DAMN DAY!! I’LL BE SUED FOR EVEN COMMENTING ABOUT HIM AT ALL!!!!! AND IF HE DOES, WELL I’LL TELL HIM THAT HE JUST PROVED HIS OWN POINT!!!!!!!!
@@kjmusic99 yeah well, that’s Henley in a nutshell.
I saw KISS in Indy about 3 months ago. For a couple of old codgers Stanley and Simmons can still rock, although Gene doesn't move around like he use to but Stanley is still in decent shape. But they're suppose to be retired now.
Deep Purple should have thrown in the towel 24 years ago. No Blackmore, no Lord, no Deep Purple.
It's funny when the 80s new wave bands like duran duran, Depeche mode and billy idol can still bring it but not these metal bands.
This video is stupid and offensive. As long as the bands want to keep performing and are able, and there are fans wanting to come see them, why should they retire? And the vast majority of people that go to concerts of bands that have been around for awhile want to hear their old hits, not new stuff! So many of these older bands still rock! It's inspiring. They have already cranked out enough hits, they don't need new stuff. Maybe the music scene has changed but that is only going to appeal to the 20 somethings. What about everybody else? I guess you think everyone over 30 is irrelevant.
The Crue, Bon Jovi, Guns & Roses, just to name a few. Even though it was sad that Eddie Van Halen passed away, Van Halen with David Lee Roth once again fronting the band was painful to listen to.
I’m in complete agreement about most of these. The Stones, especially. My buddy and I agree that Kieth is basically a mummified, propped up corpse while Jagger is flailing around on stage like a dinosaur with an impossible to reach itch.
04:00 - Geddy Lee was never in Yes. He played one show with them at the 2017 induction to the R&R Hall of Fame. He played with the remaining original members and stood in for their late bassist.
While they may suck, the fact that they're still on sold out tours says there are enough people who don't believe they suck and are willing to pay them still.
Even though there are a couple bands here that I wish would call it quits, as long as they're drawing crowds and enjoy what they're doing, why should they retire.
I’m no fan of Mike Love, but The Beach Boys should have retired gracefully after Carl, the heart of the band passed.
Also, this video is about 10 years old, just from the narrator.
I think if there is no more original members they should be called something else
Why is everyone "melting faces"? This script is about 5 yrs out-of-date. Not a bad effort though, even if it needs updating. Without the AI voice.
Metallica Kicks Ass !!!
I do not agree that Styxx, Metallica, Def Leppard & REO Speedwagon should retire.
Why do you think so?
Listen to Metallica’s cover of Elton John Funeral for a Friend/Love lies bleeding and tell me that band should retire. They haven’t sounded this good or tight since the early 90’s.
@RavensFlock9592 I will look for that, it's a powerful song...
Metallica still sells out shows and putting out new material, even though they’ve sucked since the 90’s
Alright, the cheap crack at Mick Mars is pretty pathetic. "Turning into a statue"? The guy suffers from a debilitating, degenerative condition called ankylosing spondylitis and it's caused him a lot of pain, both physically and psychologically since the age of 14. I mean, come on... You don't need to be trashy to get your personal opinions across.
Retire when where you play stops selling out

This video sucks..all these bands are great and most still sound good. And a lot of these bands are legends and they helped shape music what it is today
The Crue......ummmm music 50-50 but yes retire
I always thought that U2 started to go off the rails with Rattle and Hum. It definitely had some good songs but to me it was bloated and pretentious. I think this was the point where Bono's ego started to dominate and I lost interest in them after that.
4:01 That sure can pass for Geddy Lee. I think I need better nerd glasses. 🤨
My first, before I watch this video, is Skynyrd. If a band has no more original members, they only have a band. Nothing special. There are some cover bands that are almost as good as the original band. They don’t try to tour with the bands name.
Well, the truth is that rock 'n roll is the internal fountain of youth. Which you will probably never understand until you have been in someone's shoes. This is what they do for a living, and they love it. Old music is killing new music. I just read an article that both Queen and Bob Marley albums have re-entered both the Billboard and Spotify charts; they have never really left. The truth is most of today's new music sucks. All the more power to these guys if they still want to perform. Some was telling me they recently saw John Fogerty from CCR in concert, and he rocked big time. He has had so much experience performing live and knows how to connect with an audience that a lot of new artists just don't have. It makes a difference.
As a traveling musician, if you're still selling tickets, why stop?
I only listened to early Lynyrd Skynyrd before their plane crashed anything after that I stopped listening.
Seriously .... ? Do your research before posting a video. Alan White passed in 2022 ....
A lot of these I haven't even heard of, but Motley Crue, The Who, Kiss, U2, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Metallica, Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses, and the Rolling Stones I was sick of when they were still 'popular' decades ago.
Never did like The Beach Boys either; they were simply what was there at the time.
People still pay to see them play. And they’re the last real musicians that can actually perform live ..not just lip sync to the album
Slash has been back with Guns for almost a decade now. When they said in this video that Slash _might_ rejoin Axl, I thought "Oh, this must be an old video" but then I saw that it was posted 8 days ago (today is May 10th 2024).
All of these bands have earned the right to still be out there. It gives all us baby boomers a reason to still attend live shows. The bands dominated radio air play for many decades, back when we all listened to the radio. They allow us to remember when. Brings us back to great memories of our youth and vitality. Trust me, they’ll know when it’s time to quit, and they’ll do it with dignity, and many thanks from a grateful legend of fans
If Rodger daltrey had not had some extensive surgery on his vocal cords I'm sure he would have hung it up. I heard Pete Townsend saying an interview that Daltrey apparently wants to never stop until he drops. Townsend said that is not the case with him. We should not be surprised if we see Rodger Daltrey as a solo artist in a year or two. If not who songs then something else. I guess Rodger wants to get his money's worth out of those surgeries.
Limp Bizkit a few cool songs but mostly blah
I love U2 still
If DeYoung was responsible for writing Mr. Roboto, then he should be ashamed of his legacy
If people are STILL going to the concerts Way should they retire?? Besides Todays music SUCKS.
Any actor that thinks they are also a musician......just because they've got money, and a bunch of yes men on the payroll, doesnt mean they could also be ballerinas, or professional ball players too.
Vintage TV should retire right now. What a pile of crap.
Some fans just like to grow old together with their favorite bands. It is encouraging to see them still doing what they like, and what we enjoy, until they call a quits.

While I agree that most of the bands mentioned are well past their sell by dates, as long as the fans want to see them live and buy their albums you can't blame them for carrying on. I mean, it can't be about the money. I assume that they still must enjoy performing/recording so who are we to say they shouldn't. I'm just thankful that I got to see a lot of these bands when they were in their prime.
the Spotify Discography of Yes appears to contain a greater amount of releases featuring recordings of tours over the previous decade than studio material & 4 live albums which they’d created between 1969 & 2001 ( 2014 if you count Fly From Here ) & considering they sound laboured nowadays in my opinion except the Hall of Fame show ,it begs the question just whom above let alone below age 50 is streaming -let alone buying these releases ?!

This video is outdated and should be updated or flat-out replaced. Some of the info about YES is incorrect. Contrary to what the video states, Steve Howe did indeed play on Fragile and Close To The Edge, and btw, YES didn't really become YES until after Howe joined the band for the third album. It's when Howe joined that YES really took off, so it's irrelevant that Howe isn't an "original" member, because YES isn't a revered band because of the first two albums. The first two albums are good, but if the first two albums were all that YES recorded, nobody would care or even have heard of YES. Everyone knows the great YES albums with Howe on them. Fast forward YES' new lineup released "Mirror To The Sky" last year (2023) and it's quite good, and the second highest-rated YES album since 1980's "Drama".
Thanks for suggesting
