I took my husband to see the movie "The Unknown" as I knew he would really enjoy it since he is a Dylan fan. He told me he saw him and Rolling Thunder Revue in his college years. He went on tell me about Scarlet Rivera. I was impressed with his incredible memory over something that happened over fifty years ago. She definitely impressed him with her performance that night. Thank you for the podcast.
I was first listening to Bob Dylan's Hurricane. That was at top of the charts in 1976 in Germany. I was playing in a youth symphonic orchestra. Listening to Scarlet Rivera forced me to make a radical change. I became a street musician and travelled through South Europe. I made great experiences with all the peopleI met, learned playing the guitar and singing Bob Dylan songs and other songwriter's music. Thanks to Scarlet Rivera ❤🎉, she was such an inspiration for me 😊
@@thelongislandsoundpodcast6451 Loved this video but was disappointed by the lack of a deep dive into the songs and her violin playing on them. Other than his discovery of her, that's what I thought this video would be: an insider's look at that brief, brilliant flash of a vigorous, visionary violinist upon the face of Dylan's oevre. Perhaps you could do that in the future. But thanks again, though, for this.
@@reederjulian2112 amazing! How did you find the podcast? And can you subscribe (free)? I’m looking to have Scarlet comment on the new Dylan Biopic, “A Complete Unknown” your thoughts?
@thelongislandsoundpodcast6451 I just stumbled across the podcast on TH-cam just scrolling looking for something to watch and saw Scarlet and since I know who she is, I watched it.
@reederjulian2112 NO WAY! SO COOL! Scarlet's second cousin was my first cousin's hands down temporary Postal Carrier for a full non stop six and a half weeks until the regular carrier Mike Fowler fully recuperated from knarly knee surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, since thats where Dr. Evans, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon in Romeoville practiced, so anyway, he has been a family friend ever since. Which one? IDK I aint a science teacher, Geez
@thelongislandsoundpodcast6451 I'd love to have an important Thought about it, but since Dylans Voice is shot now and he charged People 365 Swiss Franks (around 400 Dollars) in Montreux I relegated him to the Oldies Circus. I owe him my deeper Dive into Music and Romance in Durango with Emmylou Harris and Scarlett Riviera is one of my Top Ten Song of all Times. I now think more about FKA Twigs and St.Vincent or Janelle Monae and P.J. Harvey. I am sorry not to give you a more specific Answer. I hope someone else Steps in since it is definitively Interessting.
Beautiful! Great innerview. The algae rhythms plucked the photons on my recent Dylan kick and look what came up. I’m listening to Scarlet’s music (starting w Baroque works today…) because frankly I do give a damn. ❤
Before the last song on "The Last Waltz", Dylan slows it down, Levon, Robbie and Rick are looking around, wondering what Bob wants next ... As soon as Bob launches, they know exactly what to do.
With all due respect to Ms. Rivera, who played well with the Rolling Thunder tour and on "Desire", I think crediting her with having "transformed" Dylan is way over the top.
You make an excellent point, I appreciate your perspective...and yes sometime I go over the top. Maybe it's the other way around. Be well, thanks for commenting!
Oh, I think transformation can go both ways. Scarlet Rivera was a MASSIVE part of Desire and the Rolling Thunder Revue tour. Without Scarlet, the tour and the album would not have been the same. With that being said, it obviously wouldn't have been the same without Bob Dylan either. Those two combined to make something spectacular. I wish I was born early enough to attend a show.

I had the Chance to see her in Montreux about 30 Years ago. Interesting Interview. Thanks.

To use the phrase, "You got out of Joliet ..." cuz there is a Federal pen there ...
Fair point. 😂
What about her time in THE CRAMPS?
Not giving instructions seems to be Bob's method.
What about the black woman on Rolling Thunder.
what about her? make a video and post it so everyone will know WTF you are going on about
