- After 1 1/2 years of not having a car I finally bought one!
I decided to go with a 1992 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3 SportLine to make a 190 Evo II Cosworth replica as I think it’s the coolest car I can build for my budget of $20,000.
The goal is to finish the car so I can take it across Canada for Driven Show interviewing car enthusiasts & showcasing their builds along the way.

That is one of my dream cars, along with the e30 m3 evo, ford siera cosworth, r32 skyline gtr, fc3s rx7, ma70 supra, audi quatro 1000s, lancia delta integrals, ford escort cosworth, Nissan pulsar gti-r, Toyota celica gt4 and some other cars from the 80s-90s.

First off the car looks amazing 👍🏿 And second. Im pretty confident she'll make the journey. Long tips are what classic mercs do. As long as you keep moving cause idle traffic is all it needs to overheat. Ive changed the thermostat to open sooner and still she'll get pretty hot. Ruby still drove from vancouver to ottawa with no issues. And for the love of god change that motor lol I still only have a 2.6 but she drives like a C63. The car does 200kph on a regular basis

if you're going for that m104 engine, you'll need a different oil sump and pickup tube(can mod the original) and m103 engine mounts from a w201 i think. I did see the m112(v6)or was it m113(v8), those will need custom mounts and will accept a manual trans from a w203 6-speed, but its more difficult to source parts because i dont think stock rear diff will work without custom driveshaft
no need to change sump if the engine is from a w202, w201 m103 enigne mounts will work, also w124 om606 and 603 mounts fit
Only time you need to change oil sump and tube are when the motor comes from r129 SL or w140 S class. But this is the optimal motor because it comes with dual valve springs and piston oil squirrels from factory.

It’s from an E320
190e is known for the overheating, easy fix is to replace the thermostat. Because the old thermostat will open up in a very high temperature than other cars, modern thermostat is the fix for the overheating problem. My dream car project build is 190e Evo 2 💓, One day will be build it just like yours in black🖤 💪
weird, i know of people running these things perfectly fine in 100 degree weather with no issues. I did an e-fan conversion on mine after my fan clutch also nuked itself. SPAL makes a super low profile fan and it's kept my car cool on 95-100degree weather with no problems. super quick install too.
You guys should swap the engine out for a non cosworth 4g63 with the turbo out of the evo 9 lancer with the transmission out of a Mitsubishi d50 mini truck.

Keep up the good work man,if you plan to swap some powertrain on this beauty,i would highly recommend to slap the a45s powertrain because its the fastest 2.0L engine out there,or maybe you would like the C63 engine,its all your choice...👍
That looks wicked bro. Can't wait to see you put a new engine and gearbox to make it a beautiful resto mod and I'm hopping that you use a boosted Mercedes engine and then boost it too the moon.
If you need any help welding up a custom stainless steel exhaust I'd be happy to come to Canada from Sydney Australia but you'll have to provide the welder cause I don't think I'd be able to take one as a carry on but I could be mistaken.

Usually, the increase in heat- is damaged cores in the old radiator, I suggest changing that first.
Radiator doesn't have cells?
Fan clutch is an easy fix, the sensor is on the thermostat, just brigde it with a wire & it will stay on, i did this till my new sensor came in.
Now all you need is a c63 for a driveline swap

Should change how the headlights turn on with side markers, that’s US spec only. But cool build
Love the build and will follow it to the end but there is no chance you can rebuild everything on this car that it needs for 20k. You should have a running total on how much you’re actually spending. For all the work in the body kit and body not even mentioning the drivability of the car you’d be at 20k in labor.

Btw, the grill looks a bit faded. I had a 190 back in the days. If I remember correctly it’s pretty easy to take it apart, to get those lite chrome strips off. Then you can paint the base and it will look new again.
I would put k20 on boost 500hp and done .

He’s tryna do the build on a budget it’s normal I see lots of TH-camrs that have way more subs and defo have the money to build whatever they want but it’s still good to save money where possible.
Think it’s much more relatable aswell to the us viewers with the budget build.
