    My Story
    For the past few years I have become more and more obsessed with travelling this great country in a 4WD. Just getting from point A to point B with the maximum amount of fun and excitement it what it’s all about for me.
    My first 4WD was a Nissan Patrol and I have had one ever since, this build is my take on what would make the ultimate touring vehicle to do what I love most.
    I hope to one day built myself a 4WD empire to make the unreachable, reachable to others. By providing them with a means of transport like to other, transport that is BUILT NOT BOUGHT…

    Great videos and well done on the BNB concepts. I have had the ARB air locker, a LOKKA and now the Harrop e-locker in my GU. The e-locker is great. #havacrack #patroltraction

    Hi Sam,
    I'm about to buy the Eaton front locker for my GU4 3.0 and I'm wondering if you have to use guenine bearings or special (bigger) bearing?
    I will also change my diff gear because I'm going on 37'' so both of the axles will be rebuild with Nissan parts. ( bearings, seal...)
    Thanks a lot for your answer.
    And keep going! 💪

    any particular reason you did the rear? I've got a patrol too and have a locker in the front but I find the rear to be good enough to hold its own, loving the build keep it up

    I have always wondered with these e lockers why they aren’t used in a drift application haha.. please correct me if I’m wrong here🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @whatyareckon5985
      @whatyareckon5985 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They aren't designed to engage or disengage at high speed. Plus a spool or mini spool is a fair simpler method of locking the diff in drift and drag applications. Being simpler they are cost effective and have less parts to break as well.

    • @Michael-tt8pi
      @Michael-tt8pi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Williamz 743 so if you are any smaller of a size 16 Aus men's I would tell you to get a XS - a Small ( only go a small if you like some overlap on your pants or if you don't care if it's bigger than your size , unless you are bigger than an XS) and medium- large it depends how tall you are , ect . But I would recommend going to like Kmart or Big W if you live in Australia an try on men's shirts sizes to get your size probably

  • @SomervilleMetalWorks

    Ima gonna sound like a prick but only e lockers have the design flaw of half a rotation air lockers do not. Also bearing preload is different on my car factory manual says to move right bearing in until there is no play between pinion and crown wheel. Then wind in left side till backlash is achieved and this will set preload on right bearing. Also did you check the run out after installing new centers?

    • @TdrSld
      @TdrSld 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hell run-out and tooth pattern should have been done before back lash, anytime you change a carrier it's going to need a run-out and pattern check. Also I check back lash on the quarters (4 places equal spacing).

    • @SomervilleMetalWorks
      @SomervilleMetalWorks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TdrSld i used spray ink and then bearing blue to check mine when i did them

    • @gerhardpetersen
      @gerhardpetersen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hate to be a prick too but only air lockers have the design flaw of air lines being ripped out as well as a number of other faults. Macnamara diffs have neither of the design flaws of air lockers or elockers.

    • @SomervilleMetalWorks
      @SomervilleMetalWorks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gerhard Petersen oh so what actuates the solenoid on a jmac diff thats right a vacuum line.... or in case of the tjm version an air so same design flaw as arb... The flaw im talking about is the locking and unlovking in a elocker. Sam said lockers have this issue he should have said its specific to elockers and not other lockers

    • @sonysoyboysaremadeoftears.7404
      @sonysoyboysaremadeoftears.7404 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SomervilleMetalWorks Sorry there broski but ARB's have a very high failure rate vs e-lockers due to the simple fact that when the axle flexes over time doing serious off roading it causes the seals to lose their integrity and air will leak, and not only that the hoses are prone to getting brittle and leaking. E-lockers are far superior in terms of longevity and low maintenance costs.

    I'm confused, if it's a Harrop e-locker, is it the same as an Eaton e-locker, or are they in competition and if so which is better? In an earlier video, the Harrop locker he's talking about clearly says Eaton on it. th-cam.com/video/Exy7FZ30xrY/w-d-xo.html
