"Because I'm one of the idiots who live in it!" - My favorite quote of this movie. Why can't we apply that kind of sense to environment?

He didn't want to take her hand because he didn't want to say goodbye; he didn't want to accept that she was dying.
I can fully understand his feelings, since the two things I hate with a passion, more than anything else, are fear... and goodbye.

    • @PhilBagels

There was a Howard the Duck movie made a few decades ago. It was really bad. This one line in this end credit scene is funnier than anything in that movie. And is a closer representation of the character to how he is in the comics. A well-written Howard the Duck movie in the MCU could be good.

Drax is the best! Bautista is marvelous in the role, I see why Carpenter said he loved working with wrestlers. (They're on time, they know their lines, they hit their marks, and they don't give me any grief about motivation.)

In the Marvel 616 (Comic Universe) The Collector is one of the Elders of the Universe and billions of years old, his best friend is another Elder called The Grandmaster played by Jeff Goldblum in Thor: Ragnorok. They see everyone as lesser beings like pets so "fetch" isn't so far fetched of a term for him to use.

Is only one of them the "real" plant, since it has the same root system as before? With most animals there's a brain that we consider "them", not so with plants. So are they all the same plant, since they have the same genetics? And since it wasn't a single-cell, it's more than just clones. If I split a plant in half and both grow, which one is real?

@@EclecticMystic Not really complicated with Groot, since James Gunn himself has said that Groot died in GotG and the "second Groot" is his son. So the Groot you see in GotG and Baby Groot who we see in the rest of the MCU are two different characters.

Keep in the back of your head the locations of the Infinity Stones ;). So far the Tesseract is in Asgard, Loki's scepter has a stone inside and it's in posession of a Hydra guy that defected from SHIELD on Earth, the Aether is with the Collector's destroyed place in Knowhere, and the Orb is in the planet Xandar.

Of course, nothing wrong with crying while watching movies; I can totally shed some tears watching the first Rocky or Gladiator. And honestly, I think it's awesome that a movie can make you feel that.

In the comics Nebula is Thanos' biological Niece. This movie destroyed me in theaters. I had recently just lost my Dad to Cancer when this came out so the opening scene of the movie hit me REALLY hard, which just emotionally had me way more sensitive to everything than I normally would be otherwise. Jacked up to 11 would be an major understatement. When it got to "We are Groot" I couldn't see the screen I was blinded by tears.

Good movies, which I think all MCU movies are... some better than others, you need to watch more than once. So often we miss little subtle things. And so fun to even get more out of a good movie the second or third movie. By watching Game of Thrones reactions by a few different folks, I've learned so much more than if I only watched it once. Because it was so good... complex. The things on the screen in the peripherals... the details, are fun to discover.

My biggest complaint about this movie is Ronan. First off Lee Pace is incredibly talented and wasted on such a one-note character (seriously, check him out in Halt and Catch Fire.) Second, Ronan is a far more complex character than presented here (he's basically space Javert/Judge Dredd) and it could have been brilliant to position him as an antagonist that still has a point rather than just a snarling agent of destruction.
Also, the dog in the space-suit with the Collector is Cosmo: in the comics, he is the head of security for Knowhere and is a mid level telekinetic and low-grade telepath (who is frenemies with Rocket.) He's awesome.

    • @maxducoudray
      @maxducoudray 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree Ronan is undercooked. I also think the battle over Xandar is pretty meh. Combined, these factors make act 3 of this movie a letdown after the early parts of the movie being so so good. I still like it a lot, but I think GotG2 is better because it does a better job with the final act.

    • @saberstrike000

@@jimdetry9420 Yes, but you have to admit he's a very bland villain. His motivations and character are almost non-existent, and there was a lot of potential for something better in the character.

Someone already pointed out that the actor playing Quill really did drop the orb, but he stayed in character so they kept it in. I forget, have you released a reaction to Spider-Man : Homecoming, because there's a nice adlib scene there too.
"12% of a plan" calls back to The Avengers "12% of the credit" line.
Also Rocket's "now we're all standing in a circle" was ad-libbed.
