Because it is a Super Hero movie. It's a RomCom it's a Horror film, it's an Adults only entertainment movie, all rolled into one with a lot of Foul language.

The best part of his search for Francis is that no one except Wade knows that name. Everyone else calls him Ajax so they have no idea who Deadpool is looking for.

I just got a new kitten and my house has a bunch of tiny spots he can get in and hide so we’re naming him Francis cause he gets lost in all of them and we just start saying “WHERE’S FRANCIS!?”
I think you are forgetting that Wade had that drawing of Francis. All those people knew exactly who he was looking for because that drawing was so accurate.

It's one of the few castings in all history that surpasses RDJ as Iron Man. You could recast Tony Stark, it wouldn't work as well, people wouldn't accept it but it could be done. Deadpool is simply non-functional without Ryan Reynolds. Like every role before this has basically been a proto-Deadpool going all the way back to Van Wilder.
Well, it exists because of him, as well as a mystery man reportedly named Lyan Leynolds who leaked the test footage that went viral. But they'll never find that guy. 😉

Dead pool knows he’s in a movie. In the comics he knows he’s a fictional character, but everyone else thinks he’s just crazy. He’s constantly talking to the readers and often interacts with his own thought bubbles. All the other characters look at him “who the f are you talking to?”
Deadpool never went insane. His mind simply expanded beyond the fourth wall.

The reason Deadpool looks like that is because his healing power not only allows his body to heal, but it also supercharged his cancer, so every cell in his body is constantly dying and regenerating. It's also the reason why he's so erratic and unpredictable, and became self-aware to the fact that he's a character in a comic/movie.
As an example, the villain Taskmaster (who features in the upcoming Black Widow movie) has the power to perfectly replicate any physical move he sees, and uses that power to copy his opponent's physical fighting style and predict their next moves and defeat them. He is unable to do that with Deadpool, because his brain is dying and healing so much, it's like a completely different opponent every few seconds, and he simply can't keep up
Taskmaster was actually beating Deadpool the first time they fought in the comics cause Deadpool was *pissed* at him, which lets him focus and actually be a bit sane for a few minutes (in the comics initially you could tell when it was happening because all of his internal monologue boxes and bubbles would be the same colour). Then at one point Taskmaster knocked him around enough that he was seeing stars and lost his focus and started doing the cha cha in the middle of the fight and then Taskmaster was like "Wait, what the hell, this isn't right?!"

One amazing detail: The reason nobody was saying where Francis was cause they didn't know that was his real name. So wade only got an answer from the last guy cause he asked where is your boss.
I love that little nugget, no-one knows who he’s asking about as he kills them and it’s only when he asks for the boss he gets an answer.

If you watch the X-men movies, you will have a better understanding of the references and certain jokes
came here to say this. Having seen X-men Origins and also Green Lantern specifically will make some references make 1000% more sense

In the 70's when the second generation of X-Men debuted, Colossus (the big chrome guy) was often the moral center while Wolverine would hack and slash. He's pretty close to the authentic comic character.
I agree. That was one of the truly impressive things about this movie. Accurate characters. The writers understood the property beyond super powers and fight scenes.

The Stan Lee cameo makes sense because Deadpool is also a Marvel movie.
In one of the behind the scenes shorts on the DVD Stan complains that he never got to see Chastity, she sounded like a very talented young woman. lol
Yes, Deadpool and the X-Men are Marvel characters, but they sold the movie rights to them a long time ago, which is why they're not in the MCU. They recently got the rights back tho, so they should all eventually show up in the MCU.
And Stan Lee does make a cameo in at least one of the X-men movies. Though it's considered an MCU thing, it's really because it's a Marvel comics thing. In fact Stan Lee actually made a cameo way back in the Incredible Hulk tv movie.
The cameo also makes sense because Stan Lee used to work as a DJ at a strip club! The more you know.

My favorite line in this one was the interaction over XAvier.

In the Theater i fell almost out of my seat because of laugther when it came to that scene.
The Audience was boiling. Not even Naked Gun got a hall to crack up so hard.
Not really! Days of Future Past fixed all that. But you have to watch all of them to understand the timeline. If anything, I kinda appreciate the fact that FOX didn't just sweep shitty X-men movies under the rug but instead they got rid of it in the most comical way possible (pun intended)

Deadpool was only made because a mysterious man named Bryan Breynolds leaked the test footage they did onto the internet.
They did essentially the car fight as a pitch for the movie, but FOX passed on it. Bryan put it up on youtube, and everyone lost their minds for it. After that, FOX greenlit the movie.
The ENTIRE after credits scene was a total recreation of the end credits scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

And also it celebrated 30years of post credit scenes in movies as Ferris Buller was the first film to use post credits scene at the end and Deadpool celebrated that honor as Ferris came out in 1986 and Deadpool came out in 2016

Honestly speaking, this movie is was watchable for 10 years old despite it's R rated ranking.
My mom took me to night of the living dead in theaters and showed me Silence of the Lambs when I was about 10 years old and it instantly became my favorite movie. My mom never really denied me or told me I couldn't watch something and, I think that's why I have always been more mature than any of my friends.

@@Mr.Ekshin maybe it will happen in the crossover movies but i don't think that's a problem because we seen it in the comic books and others and it can be well managed with a good direction, anyway his own movie is confirmed to be rated R and thats the important thing.
Deadpool is strongly affiliated with X-Men. I'd like to see Disney magicked the X-Men out of nowhere.

Funfact:
The last scene where he states he forgot his guns was because they planed out a hughe shoot-out scene... but, as always, they went over budget - so they made it a fist fight. Less CGI production cost.
The thing I love most about Deadpool is you could drop him in absolutely any situation and it wouldn't seem weird. If you told me there was an episode of Golden Girls where he has a guest spot and hooks up with Dorothy? Yeah, I could see him doing that. If anything, the weird part would be that it wasn't Rose.
Especially when you consider that in the comics, Deadpool has a hard spot for Bea Arthur.
I could see him and Betty White doing comedy together somehow.
It's why he could totally last beyond a trilogy. The MCU could do more movies with him for years. I wanna see them adapt stuff like Dead Presidents.

Many of the references in this movie you will not understand until you see the Xmen saga. I recommend you watch it by release date
I dont think its particularly essential to watch the xmen films prior to watching DP. Yes there are references that you'd miss but as seen here, it wouldnt stop the enjoyment of the movie.
I was going to comment the same thing. Even in this first movie, it was clear Duaffy was unaware of some movie reference jokes, and not just from the X-Men franchise. Deadpool 2 has so many more,.
Well, then, make it even better: watch the Deadpool movies, then the X-Men movies, then the Deadpool movies AGAIN! haha

I was 36 when I got pancreatic cancer .. This got me through 12 cycles of chemo and a lot of organs gone (whipple procedure)
.. this year at 40 years old I got out of intensive care unit less than 3 weeks ago after then discovering lung cancer
I owe my life to this for keeping my mind strong :)

Deadpool’s power is extreme regeneration, but it also affected his cancer. His cancer is progressing at the same rate his body is healing, that’s why he looks like he does.
The only words missing out of that opening credits sequence were your words: "This is a masterpiece"!

The "Deadpool Rap" song was actually made long before the movie. When the videogame (yes, there is one, it's a lot of fun but more comics-compliant) came out, the artist (who happened to be a fan) made the song for the game, and later Ryan Reynolds and the gang behind the movie heard it and insisted it should be part of the movie (with an added verse!).

The end-credits scene was a recreation of the one from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Which was decades before those became a regular thing in superhero movies.

The reedit of Deadpool 2 was actually before Disney bought Marvel. FOX wanted to rerelease the film to get some more money out of it, but Ryan would only do it if part of the ticket sales went to a cancer charity.

@@sigmacademy Yeah, that was the Disneyfied version that came out. Disney and Fox has already done their merger but were waiting for regulatory approval, but they didn't want to miss out on the revenue from releasing a kid friendly version.
I don't think I've seen anyone get so emotional over Wade's backstory and being afraid to see Vanessa again, but it's really sweet that it touched you like that.

It’s definitely the kind of movie that will always take first-time viewers completely by surprise in just how original and great it really is. Again, just like with Wolverine and Tony Stark/ironman, you really couldn’t have any other actor play Deadpool apart from him.

The reason his body looks that was is because his ability to heal is curing his cancer so fast it’s causing massive scare tissue.
Of course it's scare tissue, because it's scary :P Regular people just get scar tissue.

Nah, not sure why those people said that. You should definitely watch the X-men movies in order. There's plenty of jokes in Deadpool that have to do with the previous movies. Honestly if its Marvel, you should always watch in order of release.

Duaffy, after seeing you're reaction to Wade's appearance I think you need to watch Mask with Eric Stoltz and Cher. It's the perfect movie for someone with your empathy and compassion for others, bring tissues. Lots of tissues.

Because the X-Men are the good guys, and generally speaking don't kill bad guys if they can help it...because you know, the mutant superhero team killing people is bad PR for mutants in general, we're trying to minimize the anti-mutant hysteria here. And Colossus is a boy scout on Cap's level.
