It would be nice to take all your feedback and re-design the game with all of these issues addressed. I think games should go through iteration loops like this and get better over time. I just have an emotional connection to the Firefly universe that is why I am saying this, I wish it would have a better game associated with it.
agree! I have yet to try the other Firefly game that is more sandbox-y, and I haven't heard of any other Firefly themed games either. Serenity (the movie) left a decent impact on me, and I was pretty bummed out that she felt... not so good in this game to roll on hahaha. Cheers man! -Ashton
Catan is a classic board game and I recommend it. Once you get used to the rules, it is so fun. You have to play it with a group or with somebody else, though
Oh man, could not tell there was text on the card until you zoomed in on it I was confused that is so bad. For push your lucky they should have had it that you started with like two enemies dice then every extra round you to add more something like that maybe. I think my worst is The Oregon Trail: Hunt for Food game it is a 0/10. Took 10-15mins setup first play and then first turn wife flipped one card and died and I died two turns later so bad though we where playing it wrong. Other '1's are Dungeon Roll, Dodoresque, and Umbrella Academy could not learn them form the rules and then still broke.
You would LOVE, absolutely LOVE Traveller CCG, Firefly the dice game pumped up to the max :). Yea that may be a 1/10 game for you. As for what to do with that game, make it a side quest activity for Firefly the board game :). if you win the mission you win 1,000 credits for the boardgame.
As far as worst games ever go, try the old walking dead game based on the comics - played a four player game of it once and after spending 40min trying to get our heads around the rules we all died on the first turn - thought it was a fluke so played again - died on the second turn after 40 boring rulebook searching shitty mintues But yeah having had Firefly: Shiny Dice being one of my first introduction to board games i can confirm its in my bottom three :P almost ruined the hobby for me before i even started. Just dicovered your channel loving it so far.
You got me at the player mats part. Really. REALLY? Two mats in an up to 5 player game and NOTHING for other players? What the hell am I even looking at. What insane mind came up with this idea.
@@Shelfside the biggest issue with it is the questions are so far out of left field that nobody knows the answers to any of it. Yeah a horrible games review of it might be worth $1
Our friend had that because it was free in a box of giveaways. It's as stereotyping as you expect from the title. I feel like it is as bad and dumb as all other party games of that era that just was something thrown up from assume executive's head and mass produced.
That game is seriously awesome. It goes from a 7 to a 9 if you use the house rules. But you need all the expansions for it to really get the full effect. Lots of great fan made content as well!
If you liked the premise here but would have preferred it to actually work, that game actually exists and its called Dungeon Roll. Which is funny, because Dungeon Roll is a pretty mediocre little dice game, but as someone who's owned both, I gave away Shiny Dice almost immediately and still get out Dungeon Roll from time to time. The main way it fixes the system is by making it way more granular - there are ten different levels you can push your luck through, increasing in how many enemies you face each time, so you'll always be able to handle at least the first few, and it's very realistic to actually handle all ten with good luck and use of the items you earn.
I'm a bit confused, what's the difference between the "recommender" score and your score? Is it like an averaged rating from other players or something?
Late to the party but I know a board game that is 1/10. The super mario brothers board game from the 80s, you roll dice to move mario but the players all move the same mario figure and you win if you are the one to push him to the finish line. In other words its nothing but pure luck and not in a fun way
Honestly, you summed up this game in the first ten seconds. After my wife was gifted this game from a supposed friend, I have asked her to reevaluate that friendship.

"Are you the Traitor?" was pretty bad. There are much.. much.. much.. better hidden identity games. Just feels like baseless accusations. Nobody had any fun.
Hmm... Elder sign does the theme A LOT better, and is not as dumb with its dice rolling IIRC. It is also coop, with less downtime. I would 100% always play Elder sign over this ahaha -Ashton

I played game of life with my kids the other day at their request. I slowly went around the board, collected money and lost it all paying for college and taxes. It’s basically the struggles of real life concentrated into and hour of boring depression.
@@Shelfside I really dislike villainous. Its multiplayer solitaire except everyone is playing a different game so "winning" is arbitrary and it felt like they tried to force player interaction with the fate cards. It also gives you the illusion of choice. There are 4 spots on your board. You occupy 1 space, another one is only useful in certain circumstances so you use it when its obvious to do so. So every turn you are just picking the most beneficial of 2 options. EVERY TURN. The theme is awesome but its a terrible game.
I owned a game that was a 1/10. It was called something like 3D noughts and crosses (or tic tac toe). It didn't contain a rulebook in the box (which I'd say is quite the negative). But given the few options and the lack of randomness it's a solvable game whatever the ruleset is (I think as a kid I solved it applying normal noughts and crosses rules of dropping anywhere and three in a row wins). So it's not really a playable game. It's actually one of the few board games I think I got rid of. That and physical tetris which may also be a 1/10 game (can't remember the rules well enough to be sure). I think it ressembled this one www.siammandalay.com/products/3d-tic-tac-toe

I mainly use it as a tool for the RPG game. As a stand alone game it is ok.

Battle of the sexes is the worst game I've personally played. It's concept sounds fun on paper but it's the only game I've just straight up trashed.
