You made a logic based decision , which makes sense and deserves all the respect. If I were you however, I would rather choose the "girl" which I have a passion for. Passion is so hard to find. And once we miss that train , we will never be able to go back and try again. Leave the logic to when you get old. All the best. Thanks for sharing.

I decided to try the boom because of this review and just like you I had no expectations but holy cow. It’s so good, I don’t think there was a single thing I didn’t like about it.
Serves were great, volleys great, forehand great backhand great but my favorite thing was the feel, it just had such a good pop on it

I tried it today and loved it. I wouldn't have tried it if I hadn't seen this vid. Thanks!! Definitely a top contender for my new racket choice. I also liked the Wilson Shift Pro but it was a bit heavy after hitting for a while. Still loved it a lottt. Going to need to put the two head to head...or I guess head to wilson....zing!

I play with Boom Pro and Pro Staff 97 v13, matched in swingweight (320), pretty close balance & static weight. I think the part1 video makes a lot of sense in terms of those two racquet comparisons (albeit Pro Staff being v14 which normally has a more demanding swingweight) Boom Pro is definitely underrated. I think the cosmetics don’t appeal to everyone, head shape is not your typical Head racquet, and most folks looking at a 98 head size “pro” labeled racquet seeks for more control than what the Boom Pro offers. Great to see some more Boom Pro fans.

I tried the Head Boom Pro and the Blade after watching this video. I am switching to the Boom Pro coming from the Graphine 360+ Speed Pro. It gives you more spin and is easier to maneuver and I love the pop u get from the racquet. The blade was easy to play with but it had less spin and was very muted, I didn't feel the pop even when I hit winners.

Boom is definitely underrated racket. I had the boom pro while for demo too. For some reason. I tried the head speed and boom at the same time. I prefer boom over head mp.
Once i know how much weight i can handle (betwen 295-310) once i play with aero team for a while.
Then i probably will choose aero, vcore and boom mp. (Both 100/98 frames).

The secret to boom pro is quality control. You just have to found one with low or manageable SW. Lots of people were unlucky and god boom pros with SW over 330 and as a result hated it. If you could found one at around 325 you are gonna love it. Out of curiosity no love for extreme tour ?

Regarding the Gravity Pro, I have a 1st gen Pro that was way over spec (345 SW). Didn't use it for years until it occurred to me recently that if adding 1/2" of length adds 20 SW points, then removing half that could get my otherwise useless racquet into spec. And sure enough, I removed 1/4" of the handle and now have a Pro with a mid 330's swingweight. So it IS absolutely possible to reduce SW of you dare! The racquet feels fine and I've been playing well with it, no adjustment necessary.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver

I’ve actually been down that rabbit hole myself and totally agree that as long as you’re okay cutting a little bit off your racket, it’s a very effective method. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this because the risk is so high that you’ll do permanent damage. So, don’t embark on this journey unless you’re absolutely sure, but I’m glad it worked for you.

    • @vanodne
      @vanodne 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Nah, I'm an engineer and a cheapskate (racquets all eBay buys), nothing to worry about! I have also extended racquets by 1/4" without much more effort (well, I added some epoxy and microballoons to fill the space). None of this is particularly hard if you don't mind experimenting.

Great video as always. But Lucas i don’t get it why you did not put the Speed pro in the list knowing it plays great in stock form and it plays between the Gravity and the Boom ( just little head size difference and you played with gravity pro as the same head size so..) and you said in a video that the gravity and Speed pro are one the best in the market. And the Speed is so loved by many people so I thought you would at least put it in the list..

The problem with the TF40 is you played with the 16 x 19 when the the 18 x 20 suits flatter playing styles but also provides ample spin. Had you tested the 18 x 20 with different lead configurations you probably would have found the right configuration to dial in as the string setup suits your playing style better.

I have switch from the ezone 98 to aero 100 (not rafa's). I used to think that babolats were crap but have changed my mind about it. Its much more easy to play than ezone. We have to be realistic and not idealistic when choosing rackets...i wish be the player that handles a 98 frame for a 2 sets and maybe a 10 point tiebreaker but with a 50 minute intense set with the ezone, serve start to fail becuase i just couldnt to swing properly and i am pretty sure that i lost some matches that i supose to win beacause i was playing with a more demmanding racket that i can handle

Hey man been watching these with joy as been in racket journey myself, before i kind of settled with vcore 98 and 100, alternating between them depending on opponents, rally or match play, I also own the gravity tour and mp were the closest rivals. I do really understand how you liked the gravity tour but I also understand why you want more from a racket. Again like yourself never thought of boom ever during this journey while triying most obvious rackets on the market around 12-13. Watching this makes me really want to hit with one as I also find the feel of vcore slightly muted and at times doesn't counter punch well agains big hitters it's interesting choice but I kind of trust your judgement as I felt very similar about all of the things you mentioned about the rackets you were testing.
Ps: forget about ezone man, it feels great at first but ball pocketing is appalling regardless of the string set up or customisation. Vcore is the best yonex if you want to go down that route.

I agree that blade v8 is a tiny bit more muted compared to v7 and before but to me that’s not V8s biggest problem. V3/4/5/6 were pure powerhouses like strike line. Blades v7 and v8 become so soft and with less free power due to their low stiffness 😢

What are your thoughts on using 2 raquets and depending on how the strokes are feeling on a particular day, choose 1 over the other? I switched from 2020 gravity pro to Boom Pro. However, when the 2023 Gravity Pro came out I switched back to it. The feel/feedback is unmatched by any other stick I have tried. It’s solid on all my strokes. However, the Boom seems to give me more punch on serve and winners from the baseline so after a set or so I usually switch to it. The lower weight makes it easier for me to swing it faster and I have to believe the 5 grams do make a difference.
I love them both and don’t see why I should pick one over the other on a permanent basis.

I'm not a big fan of switching between rackets when playing competitively. It's best to stick to one even if it might feel wrong because once you are used to a racket, there is very little that the racket is doing wrong if you're thinking you should switch.

Absolute bull! It's a nice way to make people buy more rackets and keep the industry alive 😅. In all seriousness though the only thing you really need to worry about long term is grommets and bumper guards. If your frames don't gave any deformation, chips, or cracks...really no reason to change. Carbon fiber isn't indestructible but 1-2 years is not enough to break it down especially at the recreational level, or if you store it properly. If that statement were true, nobody would want to play with a DR 98 or Wilson Blade 2015. Don't worry and just enjoy tennis.

Cool! I personally play with the boom pro, instantly loved the feel at play testing (compared it to the ezone 98 back then) and felt like it gave me way more confidence. I played well with the 98 but the lack of feedback gave me no confidence.
Strange to see that it kind of went silent around the racket afterwards.

I'm also very surprised the Boom went silent but hopefully it starts getting a nice reputation with the next one. I added a leather grip and about 8 inches of lead at 6 o clock.

The slice is the one shot where I don't love it because the string bed is so unique so it's a little less consistent than other rackets. I don't have a one hander so I really can't say. I may try to develop one for the purpose of these reviews but... that could get ugly...

Great videos! Really helpful. I play tennis since 2021 and last year I switched to pure strike 100 with razor code 23kg. I've started with some wrist pain so i'm thinking about changing the racket. I like a lot the feel and the control I get with the pure strike 100, but it's too stiff and in some matches where I don't have enough time and I can't have a full swing, I lose all the power and the ball lands too short. I've been thinking about boom mp and blade 100 but i'm open to any suggestions. Which control oriented racket would you recommend having a nice feel like pure strike and being a little bit more powerful and maneuverable for the moments when I cant have a full swing? Thanks a lot!

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver

Static weight is more important, in my opinion, and generally companies will choose the right SW to static weight ratio. I say go for something in the 280-295 gram range.

This is a good question. I see why you think they would be similar, but you will have a lot more power and spin with the boom and a lot more consistency and ease of use with the gravity. Feel will be similar so it’s just a question of what you value more between those other characteristics.
