  • A bit on the Cougar I just dug out. It is a one-owner 1968 XR7 that has been sitting for 20+ years. 302 automatic.
Unfortunately, after I got it out I could clearly see how rusty it is. I don't think this one will be getting back on the road.

I picked up a 67 Cougar a couple years ago. All original 390GT car with AC. Original South West car. Zero rust. Runs and drives. Needs minor repairs to make it a driver. Only paid 3200. For it. Talk about a steal!

a real shame, but the dash looked good, glad it's gone to someone who will make use of whats left.

Thanks for pulling it out and saving it from rusting away behind that house. Nice to find the build sheet. A lot of good stuff in the glove compartment.

I ended up selling this car. It was too gone to save. The subframe was pulling away from the floor from dragging it onto the trailer. The guy who bought it had a rust free Arizona car that needed an interior. Seemed like the perfect place for it to go.

I had two 67 cougars when I was a kid. one xr 7 and one not. both had 428's in them. the interior of the xr 7 looked way different than that one with guages all along the top of the windshield. never have seen one like it since and boy I sure wish I still had them. thanks for the memmories.

Being from Wisconsin as well, I remember how these cars rusted out. Truly a shame, what a neat car from my youth.

How is the Cougar doing? Did you get it running and have you done some work to it? Hope you can restore it, it's a classic USA car Good luck!!

I don’t remember if I said it on video or not but the car was pulling apart due to the rust. I ended up selling it before I even unloaded it off the trailer. A guy had a rust free shell and wanted all of the interior and trim parts for his car

Jeff I would guess Cougar parts are pretty good to market. Find a better body and build that race car. You have lots of parts and not everyone has one.

After I got this dug out and pulled on the trailer, it was obvious this car was too far gone. The front rails pulled off what was left of the floor and the car was about to break in half. I sold it to a guy with a AZ car. He bought it for the interior.

Are you going to restore it or part it out?

If it was an XR7 GTE car it would be worth restoring. But just a plane ole XR7 302 2V and allot of tin termites not really worth it. Looks like just a parts car.

I agree the dash was mint and there are a lot of good parts on that car. But like you said it was a plain Jane 302. It brings back a lot of memories mine had a black vinyl roof.

Restore it don't be silly saying it too hard?
