DUDE! What an absolute journey. Seriously amazing how much work you put into this. It's actually impressive how fast you got it done too, even if it took 14X as long as you thought it would. It would take many people years to do this. Ask me how I know. Someone told me that when you start a project like this, you have to be optimistic and underestimate how long it will take. Otherwise, the project will seem too huge and you'll never get started. It looked badass at the car show. Very unique. Truly awesome work!

I like Corvairs, especially the later year body style. I did not know that it has the same wheelbase as an S-10 truck. The aftermarket is very supportive of S-10s so modifying it further for performance should be pretty easy.

So you're only twenty-three years old. That makes it even greater. It's fantastic to see people younger that still have an appreciation for these older cars. You know floor boarding is what they used to call it. I know a guy I'd been doing it for forty years or more. He set a little car from the thirties onto a Dodge Dakota pickup frame. He used the floor boards firewall something long lines what you did. Cut up the rest of the pickup to make adapting panels for the body to the frame. Left it looking kind of rough and painted a number on the side because we all know a race car is supposed to look a little rough. That man is far older than I am and he still at it. You are carrying on a great tradition.

Really enjoyed the video car looks good man 😎, music was nice too 👍. Reminded me of working on my own stuff, I put a 66 elcamino on a 4x4 blazer, had to cut 10" out of the middle and quite a bit of metal work to get the body low on the frame, replace floors, etc. separated the box like a pickup so it would not crack the body. A simple roll cage would also fix the problem since truck frames are like spaghetti.
Working on a way easier resto mod 72 Chevelle now, so far it's been a breeze not having to fabricate much of anything besides fixing a bit of rust and throwing parts at it😆 Anyway, nice work man.

Excellent video! One of the great things about TH-cam is you can watch other peoples adventures and based on that make design changes etc to the project you have or are planning. I have a friend with a midengine Corvair. Unbelievable cool car...but not really for me. Had thoughts of a front engine version so of course I watched your project and love it! Leaving the bumps and bruises is great. You can have fun now instead of pampering the $$$ paint! After watching this I couldn't help but think it would be an even easier project to leave all the suspension and frame of the Corvair out back and just remove the forward frame and floors to the rear seat area. Use perhaps a Camaro or Nova front stub frame with 2x2 subframe connectors to the rear chassis. Unitize this into the Corvair structure and then build the floors etc nice and low and also unitized to the forward frame. Idea being a vertically thinner frame section for interior room. Gets away from the turn up rear bit of the S10 frame under the rear seat area too so a rear seat can fit. Also keeps the dash, wipers, hood hinges etc all Corvair and unmodified. Out back the Corvair frame is well up to the task and an IRS diff could be mounted to keep the car all independent suspension. The rear drums on a Corvair are big and well up to the task, Front Camaro or Nova discs would make for a very effective brake system as well. Keep in mind...I'm NOT ragging on your project! I'm just developing off it! I'd love to have what you have and I know you can hammer on it and it comes back for more. It's tough! I'm just brainstorming an equally cheap donor car based rig. 100 ways to skin a cat they say...and I'm just toying with another way! I already have a project so it's doubtful I'd ever get to a Corvair anyway...but its still fun to build something in your head! A lot cheaper as well! Hahaha Have fun. You have definitely earned it! Great car and being a builder myself I know how much unseen effort you put into it! Awesome stuff.

The popular thing out here in the Southwest is putting post war bodies on mid 70's-mid 80's Frames and drive trains and building budget Hot Rods. The wheel base is almost spot on and there's VERY little modiifcations you need to make to either the body or the frame to make it work. I have a buddy in my car club that put a 52 Chevy Fleetstyle body on 78 Olds Delta 88 frame and 307 engine/350 trans. He had less than $2000 in building it plus another $1000 in prettying it up, paint and interior. He bought the front bucket seats from a 2000-2001 Impala for like $100 off Facebook, The paint he bought from a local paint supply store that was a miss-mix gallon for $50, He sandblasted the Steel wheels and repainted them and put some cheap Baby Moon Hubcaps off the internet. The only new parts he bought was the engine parts needed to get it to run and for a tune up and the engine paint and the hubcaps. While it's not a 1000 Hp or 800 ft lbs of torque "Hot Rod" he has a TRUE Hot Rod and that's something that was built at home that looks cool with more horsepower than it came out of factory with for as cheap as possible.

That was a pretty neat idea. Those had a cool looking body style. I wish they had made a front mount engine with rear wheel drive. They probably wold have stayed in business

I bet they would have too but I definitely like the uniqueness of the rear engine.

The mid engine Crown kits are cool. Gives you a 50/50 weight distribution.
