      Thanks for that.
I bought the green living van, but afterwards when it was too late wished I'd bought the red one as well.
PS I bought a couple of 1999 Dennis Dart buses, with Cummins B series in them.
Did you have much of a problem wiring one up for your Land Rover?
Only I wouldn't mind sticking a Cummins in my tractor

@@TomRelubbus ahh did the scammell and red living van get sold off separately?
The Cummins that we put in my Land Rover is a mechanical injection pump so only needs battery cables, start feed and stop solenoid run feed but I disabled my stop solenoid so it was pull to stop.
I run the Cummins Land Rover Group on facebook, lots of good info on there and fellow minded nutters, some common rail cummins conversions too.

After a full restoration = £250k sitting there. I do this for a living btw.

Both vans added together, sold for less than £6k...and the 1945 Scammell is still there.

Wonderful! Was that a completely accidental find of yours or were you guided by information? The Scammel must have been used in relatively modern times because I think I saw a modern indicator light had been fitted, instead of the older pop-up flag type.

Hello Peter, I've watched your recent videos about audio, so you must be out and about again.
Our area (the West Country) is getting some of its freedom back on Wednesday - although I don't know for how long!
The old Scammell is owned by a friend, only I didn't realise what he had salted away in his barns until recently.
You're right about the cab, the lorry was 're-cabbed' and upgraded by Scammell in the early 1950s.
Here's the link to a little film of the lorry with the original cab in 1948: th-cam.com/video/LfFI1_laouk/w-d-xo.html
The lorry is the one pushing the trailer and it still has the same registration number that it was given in 1945.
There is another interesting lorry in a different barn there, much more modern (1970s) Bedford with an old fairground organ mounted in the body on the back.
It's got loads of old perforated cardboard sheet music with it as well.
If I was younger I would have been looking to buy some of the stuff there - but afterwards, I know it would just be another project sat here looking at me and demanding my attention (which I'm getting in very short supply of these days!)

      Hello Carl
The lorry was built in April 1944 with a 5 cyl Gardner, but a few years later was involved in a jack knife accident and was sent back to the factory where they replaced the cab with a newer type, and fitted it with a 6 cyl Gardner.
      Copy/paste this;
      th-cam.com/video/LfFI1_laouk/w-d-xo.html
This is a bit of video of the lorry with its original cab (the one towing the trailer) and it still has the same number plate today.
Only now it's kitted out with a large winch in the back.
The lorry is up for sale, but it does need renovating

    Wasn’t 1945 a bit early for a curved windscreen?

    • @TomRelubbus
      @TomRelubbus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there.
      Well spotted.
The lorry was 1st registered in April 1945, with the much older square cab, but was later involved in a bad accident and got sent back to the Scammell factory for repairs.
They fitted the more modern cab, and upgraded the original engine to a Gardner 6LX.
Here's a link to a TH-cam video of the lorry at work in 1947:- th-cam.com/video/LfFI1_laouk/w-d-xo.html
The lorry still bears the same registration number.
      Thanks, Tom

@@TomRelubbus thought as much, lots of lorries were recabbed after accidents. Good find though, we visited Harrison’s yard in Sheffield a few years back and there was a shed full of them with the later cab, all refurbished and ready to work, but the progress of time overtook them, regulations changed and they were of no use. Lovely bit of film too.

No, it was 1st registered in April 1945.
But in the 1950s it was involved in a bad accident, and sent back to Scammel where they re-cabbed it with the newer style cab.

it's still got the same reg number today, that it was given in 1945
