Bringing the showman's living wagon home

- This is the follow on to an earlier video I'd uploaded to YT, which was about a barn find of a 1948 showman's living wagon and a 1945 Scammell lorry.
They'd been stored in an open-ended barn in West Cornwall for the last 25+ years.
We subsequently bought the living wagon and this is the video is of it being transported back to our place.
It looked as though two of the tyres on the van could be the originals from new, so there were a few nerve racking moments loading/unloading and then towing it up the lane behind the tractor!
As the renovation progresses, I'll upload more videos showing what work that's been carried out.
This video was taken with two cameras, a Fimi Palm and a DJI Pocket 2.

A travelling fair used to visit my village every year - Silcocks of Warrington - the smell of the Diesel genies, candyfloss and toffee apples never forgotten. Mr H Silcock had a really smart living van but you very rarely saw him. Its really great that you can save this one - Stay Safe

Excellent documentary of this operation - I was rivetted! A lot of thought and planning had clearly gone into the move. Some of it looked quite risky! Congratulations to all concerned.

At least it’s going somewhere hopefully to be fixed up so it will live for many years to come and for others to see

As far as I know, the other van (the red one) has also now been sold.
The one we've bought will be more of a winter(s) project, when other work is quiet.

Looks nice. Here in the US we have a lot of antique campers, or back in the 40's-50's they were actually the first mobile-homes... I was interested to see the inside of this one that you have found. Love it!

I've got a few clips of the repairs going on to the exterior bodywork, that I'll upload soon.
Most of the interior finishing had been removed before we bought the van, but we intend refitting it out to the original spec, and I'll upload clips of that later
What a supper sound
Hello, same as I took a Zikuscar 120km over the Holstein Swiss Hills with only a little IHC 523 Tractor and 6km/h Speedlimit,that was 5 Years ago, nearly lost my best friend Hilde behind the Trek in his VW-Camper because the Bulli was overheadet and he was angry about it all but at the end it was all ok. This year I will restaure the Zirkuswagen. Greetings from Clemiland, ha ha.

I've got a scruffy old David Brown 995, perhaps I'll paint it up in the same colours as the showman's living van.
Would be great to see the inside, are you planning to restore it to its former glory ?
Hello there.
The interior has mostly been stripped out, but I am going to do a video of the interior as it is, and hopefully one when it's been restored.
There was another living van there as well, that has still got its interior, and I'm hoping to sneak in there and take a video of that.

Someone has bought the other (the red one) showman's van.
The lorry is still there, although I believe there are one or two people who've shown interest in buying it.
There's also a fairground ride, and a fairground organ there as well.

We've had all sorts of other stuff going on and haven't done much to it at all.
I think it'll be one of those projects where we fling ourselves at it for a couple of weeks, then find something else to do.

He wanted rather a lot of money for the lorry, nearly 10 times what I paid for the showman's caravan.
Interestingly enough though, he's still got the fairground ride and the lorry for sale

Sorry for not getting back before, but I've been floored with a stinker of a cold.
The Scammell lorry is for sale, there's a Gavioli type of organ that fits on the back of a lorry, a kid's merry-go-round with old A40 cars etc on it, a Fordson Major tractor, a set of fairground boat style swings.
There might be more, but that's all I can remember!
Both of the showman's living vans have been sold.
