It's a little upsetting that video game music doesn't really get the same recognition from people that mainstream music does. There's of course a lot to unpack with that statement, but ultimately my point is that I feel like even with the love David Wise got for these soundtracks, they still were not appreciated enough. This music is quite literally some of the most original, creative, and catchy music I've ever heard in my life.
I think you have to see video game music as a progression from classical music, given the patterns it focuses on. Complex melodies with simple instruments. Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovski... And just like classical music and unlike metal, trance or jazz, video game music is most likely to be orchestrated compared to any other non-classical genre. Classical music composers aren't popular at all. But... that's okay. It has its reach. Think about it. Video games themselves are popular. And almost every video game contains a soundtrack. The people who love that soundtrack will look for more tracks like it. The people who don't... well, at least they have listened to it in the game itself. And with that, I think the reach of video game music is much further than any other genre. From there, it's up to the people themselves to want to listen to it.
Not upsetting at all. Enjoy being in the niche. Once the collective gets a hold of it, once something becomes pumped out, once something is for the masses; it loses all value. It becomes commercialized. Let's be real this type of music isn't for everyone, but if it was it wouldn't be good.

Checkpoint: 01/01/23 Last year was a rough one, however the trials i had to overcame gave me more reason to keep moving forward. Im beginning to see how life changes you. Losses, issues, and hard times in general makes you grow. Find yourself, find your purpose, and use that growth as your guide. I am an atheist and I am saying this unironically, immerse yourself spiritually, it can be religion or anything else. We each need to find our own meaning to life. I sometimes feel empty as if something is missing too. The spiritual is a substitute or a bandaid to the problem. You can find a purpose in life there. A personal philosophy can also work. I will share my own. "Be kind. You tend to forget that everyone is suffering in their own way. A hug, a greeting, or even just a smile can be enough. Strive to do at least one kind thing every day. Start small, eventually you will become kind."

The music in these games are the greatest Synth compositions of all time. So beautiful, so inspired, perfectly balanced and paced. My family bought my older sister a SNES before i was born, we only ever had Mario World and Donkey kong country. Listening to these songs takes me to another time, and another planet, where everything is flourishing with beauty and potential. As someone who reached 20 years last year after a brutally stressful 2021, I want to personally tell you that you’ve got this. My family has always said that the second year of college is the hardest, such as was the case with myself, but it’s also the first time you’re going into school with at least a basic understanding of the daily routine and some of the other people nearby. At this phase of the ball game, it’s important to not over-work yourself. Recognize that it’s okay to feel how you feel and think what you think. Even in the worst-case scenario where you regret saying something that hurt another person, even this can be seen as a valuable life lesson for further down the road. Just remember- life was never supposed to be about the destination, so much as it’s about the journey you take to reach it. I wish you the best on your future endeavors. 🥰
Turning 18 was scary for a lot of people I’ve met, but I’ll tell you what I wish I could have had the chance to tell many of them due to the pandemic. You may look different on the outside, and you may have changing interests. But on the inside, you’re still the same, old you that has virtually unlimited potential to accomplish great things in life. If the need arises, try and find the courage within yourself to ask others for help. As a 20 and a half year old as of typing this, I want to encourage you to turn whatever fears you may have about the future into excitement about whatever it is you’re passionate about. Checkpoint 10/10/22: Today was a pretty nice day, I managed to relax and play Forza Horizon 5 for a bit and also made a quite impressive amount of progress on my game! Tomorrow my girlfriend is coming to visit my family for the first time, she's the first I've dated that my family meets and I hope this relationship will contiue to grow.
Checkpoint 11/13/23 Finally coming out of a major depression cycle. Getting life back on track with my fiancé and her best friend at our side. Starting exercise tomorrow and will try looking for a blue collar apprenticeship to start providing for my family and getting back into the world. Wish me luck.
DKC2 music was probably a step above DKC1, although DKC 1 was the original and still legendary. DKC2 they had mroe experience using the tech I think. Rareware music of Killer Instinct, DKC1,2, and 007 and Perfect Dark are some of the best video game music ever. Fear Factory in DKC1 is probably my all time fav. I know Stickerbrush is way more complex and more emotional, but Fear Factory is just so badass

Rambling checkpoint, 20th November 2022. I've typed a bunch here, but only this made sense: Yesterday I was playing DKC 2 with my grandmother for the millionth time, proud of how well we both mastered the game. Today I'm alone and wishing we could play one more time. It's been long enough that it's feeling stupid that I'm still tied back by such things, but some stuff always holds on to you. 2022 almost being over seems like I'm in a coma dreaming of the future, back in 2003. Time couldn't have moved this far forward this fast, right? All that's happened is a dream, right? Not this fast, not this quick. Next thing I know I'll be a husk holding on for nothing but the sake of keeping even those simple memories alive in a selfish saving throw. This isn't what I figured the prime of my life to be, but perhaps there's a corner I just haven't turned yet to find the shot I truly wanna take. Time's running out, even if there's forever in front. Haha, I guess none of this makes sense, but I just wish whoever hit fast forward on the tape never did.
Man this brings me back to November, I was getting more comfortable with friends, evenings were cozy, when I was scared or couldn't sleep, I played this in the background. Sigh, that was something 🥹 Also I never knew the art was pixelated till now.

11/7/22 Working a double shift today, just got this recommended to me and figured I'd leave this little entry here, things aren't good and I won't pretend they are, my life is going smoothly but I can't help but feel depressed, and lost all of the time, I'm gaining weight and I suspect I won't be able to stop that, I'm just living each day by day, hoping that the next one will be my last. I yearn for sleeping at night as it's the only time I have respite from my own thoughts.
Erm, I don’t normally do this, ‘cause I find people leaving replies to stuff like this to be of a pretty fake and empty positivity, but… I feel the same way most of the time. There are days where my thanatophobia is the only thing keeping me alive, and it can be horrifically scary. I can picture someone like you, I guess is my point. I’d never know if anything happened to you, but nonetheless I feel that you deserve better than how you’re feeling.
This is perfect music for the season of Autumn. Witnessing the leaves fall, while the wind blows at the trees, as the colours of the leaves changing too over time.

Checkpoint: Now that its nearing December I want to talk about how great of year this has been. 2022 has shown to me what life really can be. I've experienced so many new things this year and I'm so glad I have. Especially after being in a lockdown for nearly 2 years! All I can really say is that this has by far been the greatest year of my life, and it's only the beginning, we've only just started. That feeling of immense loneliness started to dissipate recently, while it's still slightly there, alot of it has gone away. I also think that I've become more comfortable by being with my self. I can see the beauty in loneliness now. I have friends in my life which I've been hanging out more. I'm really grateful for all the things I had the fortune of experiencing and all the new people i got to know. This is the most growth and change I've felt ever. It does get better, you just need to have things you look forward to. The main source of my loneliness is that I've never been in a relationship, I've never really touched a girl before to be completely honest, I'm not sure how long it will be until that point, but I'm not in any rush. I just don't like the idea of that, because I am a man, it is my responsibility to always start the conversation, to initiate. Why should I? I think everyone should put equal efforts. But dating to me isn't terribly important to me, but seeing all the people my age getting into relationships and acting all lovey-dovey does sort of hurt a bit. It makes me feel that I'm missing out on a beautiful thing. But I just don't want to have my heartbroken, and I'm not sure if i'm ready to even be in a relationship and give someone all my time and love. It seems like it'd be draining. The way I see it is that, whatever happens, happens. If i meet someone who feels the same way, then that'd be nice. But for now I'll just do me. I'll focus on myslef before I focus on someone else. That could be years into the future, but as I said, i don't want to rush things. Because love is the last thing to be rushed. Finding the beauty in loneliness is tough. I found your comment relatable. I just divorced my wife after 10 years of being together, and that creeping lonely feeling has returned after all this time. Falling down this pit has been the most terrifying experience of my life. I saw a quote that I found intriguing. "To live is to suffer. To survive is to find meaning in the suffering." -Friedrich Nietzsche After having gone through the breakup, I've done a lot of reflecting on how I got here. Would I do this all again if I knew it would end this way? The answer is yes, but the reason is complicated. I remember watching Charlie Brown cartoons when I was a kid. Towards the end of one, Charlie talked about his love that got away and said, "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all." That always stuck with me. When you talk about not feeling ready for a relationship, I can completely understand. My knee-jerk reaction to my divorce was to jump on dating apps to fill that void again, and all it's lead to is more hurt feelings. Life is strange, my random internet acquaintance. Keep feeling your feelings. Keep experiencing them. Sometimes they're scary, sometimes they're joyful. That's the beauty, right there. The beauty of loneliness.
2022 was certainly my best year too, i enjoyed it a lot. The sad thing is that i graduated from 9th grade, so next year i'll be in 10 grade, and thats sad, cause im a big boy now, its just not the same. For me, 6th grade is just an introduction, 7th, 8th and 9th grade are the most important years of school, and 10th and 11th grade (theres no 12th grade here) are just the epiloge of school before you get to college. Though i experienced 7th grade on virtuality, and just the last days of 8th grade we were with some friends, 9th grade, the last of the best ones, was very very good for me. It was fully presential, and i was given a wii for christmas of 2021, that just made things even better. It was a memorable year, i played dkc 2 on that wii. At least i experienced the last important school year the best way it could ever be. I'll always remember this year, and i hope i will enjoy my life as i enjoyed this year. Good luck to next year and hopefully it's as if not more fulfilling than this year, while loneliness began to effect me more this year, I'm sure next year I'll make an effort to not be as lonely. Considering that this year I also spent quiet a bit of time at home doing nothing, I think I'm now over that phase and I value going out and doing things with people and creating memories for myself, rather than just laying in bed all day which isn't healthy, it's good to stay at home and chill but not everyday.
@@stevencollier3833 Wow man sorry about that, I am responsible for my lack of romantic experiences simply because I never made an effort to talk to any girls I liked. If I did put effort into the conversation I quickly realised that women much prefer the man to initiate while they just sit there, laugh at any jokes and look pretty. It sort of gets annoying when they basically put the bare minimum effort into the conversation, leaving me no idea if they even like me or are just really shy or boring. I do not want to spend the whole year next year without at least trying a bit more, I've never asked out a girl, I don't think I have mainly because of the fact she'll tell her friends, and her friends are my friends. Yes I'm young which means girls like to gossip about people behind their back, it's their favourite pass time. I feel like, as young lad, dating has been seriously affected by social media, the portrayal of men and women in relationships has lead to all these insecure people (mainly women) using social media as a tool for validation. Countless videos of dating "advice" can be found but would never work in the real world, women love to make these videos about "red flags in men" and how if a man does or doesn't do something completely out of his control then leave him. It's lead to skewing so many of our dating expectations which then gives women this weird high ground where they can pick and choose whoever they want, but us guys would be lucky even to receive a compliment. Silly rant, but it's becoming more apparent as I am tiring to get a girlfriend. I know it'll be worth it if I try and find the right one instead of just dating any girl who would be willing to. I have more self value and I do have expectations, but they aren't incredibly unrealistic or impossible to achieve, they're pretty understandable. All I want is a girl who can also put her weight into the conversation and actually ask me questions, someone who isn't judgemental or shallow and most importantly kind and fun to be around, being somewhat attractive as well, not a model. I'll let you know if I find someone, if I don't within next year then I must have done something wrong.

What I’ve found is that many of us are conflicted over if we’re ever meant to fall in love at all. True to this notion, I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve ever had feelings for a female friend of mine. Understand that there’s nothing wrong with focusing on solely being friends for an extended period of time, however long that may be. If you’re meant to spend the rest of your life with someone who you love and who loves you in return, you will find that person, and they will find you. It’s not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when.

Checkpoint: 9/02/24 It's already the tenth time or more that I've come to a city that I chose to live, live and work, but the mint flies, echoes the depression and sometimes throws me off balance; I cry sitting on the toilet, taking a shower and even when I'm smoking or wearing sunglasses (because I can hide it better during the day).
But, I feel that I need to get out of this inertia, I have had support and received help even from people I don't know.

Checkpoint 3/1/2023: Recently turned 19, the second year of college is really tough, tougher than I expected but I feel like I can pull through at least for now, well see In a few weeks when I have the first semester's exams. Right now, the feeling of hitting 20, the fact that I'll be leaving my teenage years for good scares me to death. It's gonna be a big jump and I don't think I'm ready
As someone who reached 20 years last year after a brutally stressful 2021, I want to personally tell you that you’ve got this. My family has always said that the second year of college is the hardest, such as was the case with myself, but it’s also the first time you’re going into school with at least a basic understanding of the daily routine and some of the other people nearby.
At this phase of the ball game, it’s important to not over-work yourself. Recognize that it’s okay to feel how you feel and think what you think. Even in the worst-case scenario where you regret saying something that hurt another person, even this can be seen as a valuable life lesson for further down the road. Just remember- life was never supposed to be about the destination, so much as it’s about the journey you take to reach it. I wish you the best on your future endeavors. 🥰

Checkpoint 10/10/22: Today was a pretty nice day, I managed to relax and play Forza Horizon 5 for a bit and also made a quite impressive amount of progress on my game! Tomorrow my girlfriend is coming to visit my family for the first time, she's the first I've dated that my family meets and I hope this relationship will contiue to grow.

DKC2 music was probably a step above DKC1, although DKC 1 was the original and still legendary. DKC2 they had mroe experience using the tech I think. Rareware music of Killer Instinct, DKC1,2, and 007 and Perfect Dark are some of the best video game music ever. Fear Factory in DKC1 is probably my all time fav. I know Stickerbrush is way more complex and more emotional, but Fear Factory is just so badass

Another year’s almost over. I’m… surprisingly happy with myself. For a long time I’ve been in a pretty stressed state, but clearing college finals and moving on towards my final semester has me feeling so much better. Rambling checkpoint, 20th November 2022. I've typed a bunch here, but only this made sense:
Yesterday I was playing DKC 2 with my grandmother for the millionth time, proud of how well we both mastered the game. Today I'm alone and wishing we could play one more time. It's been long enough that it's feeling stupid that I'm still tied back by such things, but some stuff always holds on to you. 2022 almost being over seems like I'm in a coma dreaming of the future, back in 2003. Time couldn't have moved this far forward this fast, right? All that's happened is a dream, right? Not this fast, not this quick. Next thing I know I'll be a husk holding on for nothing but the sake of keeping even those simple memories alive in a selfish saving throw. This isn't what I figured the prime of my life to be, but perhaps there's a corner I just haven't turned yet to find the shot I truly wanna take. Time's running out, even if there's forever in front.
Haha, I guess none of this makes sense, but I just wish whoever hit fast forward on the tape never did.

11/7/22 Working a double shift today, just got this recommended to me and figured I'd leave this little entry here, things aren't good and I won't pretend they are, my life is going smoothly but I can't help but feel depressed, and lost all of the time, I'm gaining weight and I suspect I won't be able to stop that, I'm just living each day by day, hoping that the next one will be my last. I yearn for sleeping at night as it's the only time I have respite from my own thoughts.

Checkpoint: 10/11/22 I just got up a bit ago, it’s fall break so everything’s pretty chill. High school has been pretty fun so far, I started freshman year in August. I’d love to say I have a lot of good friends but I’m really not as close with anybody as I want to be. Overall I guess life has been fine, idk.
Checkpoint: Now that its nearing December I want to talk about how great of year this has been. 2022 has shown to me what life really can be. I've experienced so many new things this year and I'm so glad I have. Especially after being in a lockdown for nearly 2 years! All I can really say is that this has by far been the greatest year of my life, and it's only the beginning, we've only just started. That feeling of immense loneliness started to dissipate recently, while it's still slightly there, alot of it has gone away. I also think that I've become more comfortable by being with my self. I can see the beauty in loneliness now. I have friends in my life which I've been hanging out more. I'm really grateful for all the things I had the fortune of experiencing and all the new people i got to know. This is the most growth and change I've felt ever. It does get better, you just need to have things you look forward to. The main source of my loneliness is that I've never been in a relationship, I've never really touched a girl before to be completely honest, I'm not sure how long it will be until that point, but I'm not in any rush. I just don't like the idea of that, because I am a man, it is my responsibility to always start the conversation, to initiate. Why should I? I think everyone should put equal efforts. But dating to me isn't terribly important to me, but seeing all the people my age getting into relationships and acting all lovey-dovey does sort of hurt a bit. It makes me feel that I'm missing out on a beautiful thing. But I just don't want to have my heartbroken, and I'm not sure if i'm ready to even be in a relationship and give someone all my time and love. It seems like it'd be draining. The way I see it is that, whatever happens, happens. If i meet someone who feels the same way, then that'd be nice. But for now I'll just do me. I'll focus on myslef before I focus on someone else. That could be years into the future, but as I said, i don't want to rush things. Because love is the last thing to be rushed. I just divorced my wife after 10 years of being together, and that creeping lonely feeling has returned after all this time. Falling down this pit has been the most terrifying experience of my life.

After having gone through the breakup, I've done a lot of reflecting on how I got here. Would I do this all again if I knew it would end this way? The answer is yes, but the reason is complicated.
I remember watching Charlie Brown cartoons when I was a kid. Towards the end of one, Charlie talked about his love that got away and said, "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all." That always stuck with me.
When you talk about not feeling ready for a relationship, I can completely understand. My knee-jerk reaction to my divorce was to jump on dating apps to fill that void again, and all it's lead to is more hurt feelings.
Life is strange, my random internet acquaintance. Keep feeling your feelings. Keep experiencing them. Sometimes they're scary, sometimes they're joyful. That's the beauty, right there. The beauty of loneliness.
2022 was certainly my best year too, i enjoyed it a lot. The sad thing is that i graduated from 9th grade, so next year i'll be in 10 grade, and thats sad, cause im a big boy now, its just not the same. For me, 6th grade is just an introduction, 7th, 8th and 9th grade are the most important years of school, and 10th and 11th grade (theres no 12th grade here) are just the epiloge of school before you get to college. Though i experienced 7th grade on virtuality, and just the last days of 8th grade we were with some friends, 9th grade, the last of the best ones, was very very good for me. It was fully presential, and i was given a wii for christmas of 2021, that just made things even better. It was a memorable year, i played dkc 2 on that wii. At least i experienced the last important school year the best way it could ever be. I'll always remember this year, and i hope i will enjoy my life as i enjoyed this year. This year was just perfect...

Good luck to next year and hopefully it's as if not more fulfilling than this year, while loneliness began to effect me more this year, I'm sure next year I'll make an effort to not be as lonely. Considering that this year I also spent quiet a bit of time at home doing nothing, I think I'm now over that phase and I value going out and doing things with people and creating memories for myself, rather than just laying in bed all day which isn't healthy, it's good to stay at home and chill but not everyday.
@@stevencollier3833 Wow man sorry about that, I am responsible for my lack of romantic experiences simply because I never made an effort to talk to any girls I liked. If I did put effort into the conversation I quickly realised that women much prefer the man to initiate while they just sit there, laugh at any jokes and look pretty. It sort of gets annoying when they basically put the bare minimum effort into the conversation, leaving me no idea if they even like me or are just really shy or boring. I do not want to spend the whole year next year without at least trying a bit more, I've never asked out a girl, I don't think I have mainly because of the fact she'll tell her friends, and her friends are my friends.
Yes I'm young which means girls like to gossip about people behind their back, it's their favourite pass time. I feel like, as young lad, dating has been seriously affected by social media, the portrayal of men and women in relationships has lead to all these insecure people (mainly women) using social media as a tool for validation. Countless videos of dating "advice" can be found but would never work in the real world, women love to make these videos about "red flags in men" and how if a man does or doesn't do something completely out of his control then leave him.
It's lead to skewing so many of our dating expectations which then gives women this weird high ground where they can pick and choose whoever they want, but us guys would be lucky even to receive a compliment. Silly rant, but it's becoming more apparent as I am tiring to get a girlfriend. I know it'll be worth it if I try and find the right one instead of just dating any girl who would be willing to. I have more self value and I do have expectations, but they aren't incredibly unrealistic or impossible to achieve, they're pretty understandable.
All I want is a girl who can also put her weight into the conversation and actually ask me questions, someone who isn't judgemental or shallow and most importantly kind and fun to be around, being somewhat attractive as well, not a model. I'll let you know if I find someone, if I don't within next year then I must have done something wrong.

What I’ve found is that many of us are conflicted over if we’re ever meant to fall in love at all. True to this notion, I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve ever had feelings for a female friend of mine. Understand that there’s nothing wrong with focusing on solely being friends for an extended period of time, however long that may be. Life is getting better. My heart problems faded and I rejoined the gym. 12 grade and doing pretty good at school. I even got a gf. Life is starting to be pretty good.
