They were a great band because the vibe was always feel good music, but the actual messages are all dark and deep. This song is actually about his struggles with heroin addiction. "When you grab ahold of me, and tell me that ill never be set free... Lord knows im weak, and wont somebody get me off of this reef.."" the amount of times he's asked for help in his songs is so sad. RIP Brad.

I’m from the same area in Cali as Sublime... 40oz to Freedom came out when I was in high school. I was lucky enough to party with them a few times in the mid ‘90’s. ( my boyfriend at the time was tight with a couple of the guys).
I love almost all their songs... but love Scarlet Begonias, Date Rape, Doin’ Time, & Waiting for my Ruca

My 2 favorite Sublime songs have been the same since '92 when I first heard them- 'Roots of Creation' and 'Perfect World'.... those are as close as anybodys gotten to a perfect song

Life is good? This song is about addiction. But it is about the little things. A new realization. Too little, too late. Breaks my heart.
"Let's go get stoned" is kinda the 2nd half of this song "Badfish/Let's Go Get Stoned" so it feels like it ended too soon for most of us without the 2nd part playing right after. In my queue, I just put the album version of "Let's Go Get Stoned" next bc I couldn't find a reaction to it. So you should totally be the first!

One of my fav sublime songs....check out "sublime the untold story" you'll laugh they are all about chillin with the homies and heaving a good time. At what other shows are playing they were only given a few backstage passes to give to their friends or family they ended up making a few hundred copies of them and that's exactly how many people showed up backstage While they played and Bradley the lead singer he would get everybody riled up and he would encourage the audience to trash the place before they left....simply put they did not give a f*** but I really think you'll enjoy the video
