Hi Davie, I don't fish for salmon and never used a tube fly. However this video I think is one of your best. The detail, techniques and full explanation of how to tie the bobbin holder etc plus how to use and tie on was fantastic. I have now even learned how to get a bright head too. Funny enough Mr Appleby the designer of the apps worm says that when tying his apps worm to use super glue as this enhances the colour of the correct Glo brite where varnishes and UV dulls it. He says this is a big reason why his patern out fishes other such copy worms. Thanks again.
Morning Davie, nice easy one for the midweek 🙂 really liked the bit at the end when you talked about rigging. Always helpful for people starting off. All the best
Cheers for the video davie, got my first salmon on one of these in August on the river dee at Peterculter, just a little grilse like but it's a start, so needless to say I'll be tying a few of these up in doubles and various sizes of tubes. Best regards Dean
Nice looking fly. I wonder if river stripe bass would eat tube flies. That’s the only large fish in my area and I’m wanting to swinging flies for them.
Hi Bob, I usually change the colour of the tubing to suit the conditions which I do with most of my flies. I'll also use them to enhance the colours of the fly either to darken them down as I like black in clear water yellow in cold and even coloured water...Orange is a great colour for coloured water and gives the orange tail of the junction shrimp a boost.. All the very best Davie..
Thanks Davie, a great tie. Thanks for the added detail on adding the plastic sleeve, the junction tube and rigging the fly. Dark nights now, and going to get my Salmon materials out of storage. By the way, did you use silk floss, rayon floss or nylon floss for the black body?
Nice fly Davie. I’m looking for flosses of various colours, where do you recommend? It’s years since I was in Gamesport, if I thought they had the right flosses I’d use them first. Any suggestions?
Hi Eric, You should try Gamesport first as Matt may have bought in materials for over the winter months..Uni-flosses would be a good choice and probably the easiest to find and I have used it many a time though I have a few bulk spools of rayon floss which I bought a few years ago at a fly fair.. All the very best Davie

Great simple fly Dave, can I ask what tube fly adapter that is? Cheers
Hi Chris2020,
I use an HMH Tube Fly Adapter and I'm glad you liked the fly...ATB Davie.
Davie what is the outside diameter of your tube, and do you know what diameter the inner tube is please.

Hi David,
