    just realized the juxtaposition of the way qimir treats osha vs how sol treats mae. qimir gives osha the choice to kill him and flee, or to have a free conversation with him. sol runs away from the truth, hides his intentions and binds mae to a table out of fear.

    Great episode 6th of a
    Acolyte, I can't wait for the 7th flashback episode where we will learn what happened from the point of view of the Jedi 16 years ago.
    As for the plot, it was a good setup for the last two final episodes.
    The unnamed planet where Kimir was, in my opinion, may be the one used in the book by Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis because of the mines on Cortosis, as we had, I can see in the episode that there was a vein of this metal on the wall.
    And that shot from inside the helmet reminded me that stormtroopers can barely see anything through their helmets.
    And with this helmet of his from Cordosis, it is also not good to see something similar to when the younglings are training, Luke trained Obi-Wan / Sabine trained Ahsoka / Rey then with the help of the Jedi scroll taught Leia from which she also learned force heal.
    So that the given individual concentrates mainly on strength and senses.

    • @alexkramerblogs
      @alexkramerblogs 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Places strong with the Force have both. "Powerful Light, Powerful Dark"
      Ahch-To had the dark cave by the cliffs and sea, the Dagoba swamps had a stronf dark place as well (which hid Yoda from detection).

    • @jasonmarbach
      @jasonmarbach 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@alexkramerblogsYes, valid. Fair. Lore-wise, in-universe, it could be Ahch-To. Mechanically, from a story building and worldbuilding perspective, it’s almost certainly not. For one thing, Cortosis is incredibly rare and powerful. If a vein had been discovered on Ahch-To by Jedi, it probably would have become a large mining operation overnight (like basically every other known Cortosis vein has become) and thus wouldn’t have remained a good Jedi haven for the sacred texts. This vein on this planet (again, I really think it’s Bal’demnic - worth googling, see how well it fits) isn’t known yet (beyond Qimir) that we’ve seen.

    • @jasonmarbach
      @jasonmarbach 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Also, from a worldbuilding perspective, it would be kind of an unforced error to make it Ahch-To. The tattooine problem, know what I mean? “This galaxy is massive and has thousands of planets, and we keep going to the same four? Really?” That whole thing. Considering the care that obviously went into this series (contrary to what the idiots derp) it really seems unlikely to me.

Many people seem to want and expect the network TV "mystery/red herring....rinse, repeat" format. Presumed Innocent on Apple is doing that right now, and it works. Although I can understand the worth in illustrating how getting so caught up in the dogma of any particular group's beliefs/rules might find one unknowingly on the path to the dark side. Particularly when those beliefs are held as being the one and only, to the exclusion of all other "ways". Certainly greater issues arise when following even "good" beliefs/rules in such a rigid manner, that doing so begins to supersede the importance of the fundamental goodness they were meant to promote.

      yes. Good premise 'destroy the jedi without a weapon, expose them and destroy their dream', great action, good lead cast, good star wars bits and bobs like Pip and Bazil, but ultimately filtered to us through the 'content' show model.

    Loving the Acolyte. Some of the best Star Wars since ESB imo. We are finally getting to see Dark Side training in live action!
    I have a theory that Osha will end up being Plagueis by the end. I love this idea. Even if no one is Plagueis and everyone winds up as just new characters I’m fine with it.
    I never get mad at Star Wars. I’ve always watched it as if it’s history and that’s just what happened a long time ago in A galaxy far, far away. MTFBWY….always

    Criticism of the shows is fine. But in my opinion, a lot of bad faith actors, we all know the usual crowd, is complaining that the mystery show didn't lay out the mystery and all of the answers immediately. Some of the writing is stiff and some of the performances are wooden. But I've been enjoying the slow burn. Qimir is awesome. Everything about episode 5 was fantastic. Looking forward to how it all wraps up.

    Obi-Wan: "Anakin is wise, he is not easily deceived"
    Palpatine: "Have you heard of the tragedy of..."
    Anakin: "I'm in"
    "Give me 30 minutes" reminded me of that meme
    He is actually smarter than many other Sith. It also seems he took different approach than with Mae. With her, he was more ruthless. With Osha he wants her to join him willingly. Basically putting stockholm syndrome in Osha.
    I love this guy :D

    I gotta say, I disagree with you guys about the cliffhangers feeling mean. I really liked last weeks episode but I loved this one and the cliffhanger ending, specifically the way it played, is a big part of why. I'm not worried about answers. I'll land or it won't, but this slow steady build that takes its time with the characters and changing my view is excellent. This episode, no joke, made the Acolyte my second favorite Star Wars project after Andor

    Jedi take kids with parents` approvals, and is for a reason, if the force users level up their abilities having emotions they are a an issue (just mentioning a kid called Ani).. that's why they need to be have empathy for the people but not personal attachment, if you can't separate emptions then you take wrong decisions, it's not forced but a precaution, Jedi are not in an endless crusade regulating who uses the force but they have to take a stand when someone like Qimir shows up killing Jedi like crazy, they wouldn't bother him on his paradise island if he stayed there in peace.. great reaction again! keep rocking and stay safe....

    To be honest I wasn't sure I'd be watching reactions to this show do to all the toxicity concerning this show in particular but SW overall.
    I can completely understand being pissed off about some of the ways in which SW has been moving since the sequels, but acting like every show that comes out sucks is a bit much to me (especially when it hadn't been released yet😶😶).
    Anyway, Thanks again 🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️

    From an article about "The High Republic"
    At the center of The High Republic are the Jedi, whom, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy says, we’ll get to experience in their prime. We’ve seen the Jedi corrupted by their roles as political figures and war leaders during the Prequel era, the last remnants of their ways lead to a rebellion during the Original Trilogy, and their religion die out and become myth, only for the spark of hope to be reignited again during the time of the Sequel Trilogy. But never before, within this current canon, have we seen the Jedi Order act as their faith intended.

    Why are people getting so confused about Sol and Qimir knowing who is who? Qimir saw Osha's tattoo. Sol knew when he asked "Where is she?" and got "Who?" in reply. The fun thing is Qimir is (mostly) truthful with Osha to tempt her to the dark side, and Sol lies to Mae to try and get her back to the light side...

    !!Potential Spoiler Warning!!
    I believe in one interview, the showrunner said there will in fact be two Sith in the first season. So perhaps the master that cast him aside was the Sith. Perhaps they no longer wanted him as an apprentice and attempted to kill him but he escaped and is now in hiding. Or he is still the apprentice but wants an Acolyte in order to overthrow his Sith master.

    The problem is that it was painfully obvious the four Jedi were hiding something from the very first episode. Maybe the writers thought they were clever enough that audiences wouldn’t catch on until right away, but that’s not what happened.
    This isn’t so much a slow burn as it is a will-they-won’t-they wearing a fake mustache.

    I watch most of the Star Wars shows because I like Star Wars, I don't love Star Wars as I wasn't a child when I saw any of the Trilogies. It is hokey, silly humor, golden bikinis, lots of humans wearing silly silicon masks, but I will watch most of the shows. For the Acolyte, it doesn't matter who was wrong as both sides, the Witches and the Jedi participated in the outcome that left most of the witches dead and the Jedi with PTSD.

    I think the problems the critics have with the new Star Wars material is that they have been spoiled rotten by the video games, so while they are slogging through the plot points in the game, there is a ton of pew-pew to keep them amused, and you can't have a 2.5-hour movie or TV series that is all the boss battles of a video game. And since writers have to introduce something to keep the audience hooked and guessing, they will inevitably run afoul of the self-appointed "experts" in all possible media. They have already pronounced what the canon is, whether anyone else thinks so or not, and so they gripe if it is challenged or contradicted.
    They bore me.

    I really hope they do make that planet Octo, because they could retroactively make TFA make a bit more sense. The map to Luke Skywalker isn't a map to Luke Skywalker (because he didn't want to be found), it was a map he used to find the ancient first Jedi temple. It could be a map from Qimir, or it could be from someone else, but the idea of Luke intentionally going into hiding and a map being left behind anyway was just weird. Maybe the only thing in TFA I didn't like or that didn't make sense to me. Especially after TLJ made me realize that, "Oh yeah, he's in HIDING."

    • @hectorminator
