I really like this show. Don't understand the backlash at all. It's so sad that narrow mindedness and petty resentment can spoil good storytelling. Just because a story is "woke" (has more than two non-white ethnicities on screen at once and mentions mums plural) doesn't mean it is automatically bad. As long as representation isn't shoehorned into the narrative at the cost of quality writing, then not only is it not an issue, it can enhance and deepen the story. Stories have always reflected society, and are more meaningful and captivating when they do; diversity of characters can help make good stories entertaining.
Okay. I love exploring the High Republic era of ‘Star Wars’. Perhaps I shall read books from ‘The High Republic’! I enjoy the fact various writers are collaborating and playing with each other’s characters in that series! *SPOILERS* Carrie-Anne Moss is only in this episode - and possibly the entirety of the series - for a little bit, but Master Indara is my favorite character of the show! She rocks! With that information stated, I hope the writers commit to her death; I believe killing off such a major and heavily marketed character is such a bold move on the part of Leslye Headland (a MARVELOUS writer). I do not wish for any of the creators to undo the boldness of such a decision by bringing back the character later in the series. I love ‘The Acolyte’ thus far! One of my other favorites is Master Sol; Lee Jung-jae is doing such wonderful acting with that character, and I love the writing.
They had me, and then they lost me, and then they got me 85% back. To your point, CA Moss was on pace to be the first serious Force character in this Universe in a long time. How do you see her performance and green light her death? Don't care about flashbacks, it's bad form to bait and switch her via all the pre-show marketing. As you were.
Osha closed herself off to the force six years ago because the thing going on with May started creeping into her because they are dyads, like Ben and Rey. She sensed May’s darkness, she believes she killed her moms, she nipped the Sith off before it could get in. Notice in the rhyme Osha doesn’t give May anything but May gives Osha who she is, May:”I give you you”, Osha:”and you give me me”, May is filling Osha with herself, to control, to rule over 🤷🏽♂️. When did the Sith get in and could it have been stopped but the Jedi chose to Luke and Ben the situation, they tried to kill her out of fear of the Sith coming back. I question where Yoda is in all of this because he’s not a kid during this, why is someone else running everything and is he on the council? Is he off meditating or on mission and he doesn’t know or scarier, did he know all of it and took part in its being removed from the archives? We know what Sith Lords are alive in this period and they aren’t humanoid, they are aliens with big huge heads, so I don’t know who that guy in the mask is but he’s not a Sith Master, he could be an apprentice but he’s not the big bad and he’s using May, something else is going on here, it may not even be Sith. We could be dealing with bad Jedi who aren’t Sith but who are pissed at the order. We need to know what went down with the four they found the twins, new witches coming.
Guys, this is one hundred years before the prequels. Every Jedi who encounters her is going to die because they hadn't seen a Sith in 1000 years in TPM.
@@matheusfernandes2102 Yeah I think there's gonna be some sort of cover-up for political reasons which will ofc help lead to their downfall because theyre not prepared
i think thats why they dont have Yoda in the show, he would be around at this time and would definitely be involved in deliberations in the council to decide what to do about the darkside user and Mae. its an easy out for the writers of the show. stuff like that pulls me out
did you guys ever feel frustrated that the star wars universe never expanded on the MEANING of the color of lightsaber. From what i understand that color determines what kind of jedi they were. Not necessarily a ranking but in some way a sort of personality built into how they would approach situations
19:04 I mean, if you have interstellar travel why would you colonize a cold and harsh planet? Also, there's really no need for snow if you have hoverboards (now I want a hoverboard scene in star wars, I wonder if there's one already in the books or comics)
I've struggled ridiculously with this series so far. Im really starting to see Disneys underlying method of "Tell dont show" writing and its emptiness and severe lack of stakes, character, or life. The concepts and themes should compliment Star Wars very strongly - The detective and mystery elements work exceedingly well for the Jedi. I feel the majority of the actors are given static, lifeless direction without really being able to inject personality into their roles. Their inclusion of a diverse range of actors is brilliant - their use of and actually creating interesting dynamics with these voices: Where is it? Hopefully, the story will unravel organically with actors coming into their own. Sol - Works, having a host of other characters as sentinel and thoughtful doesn't. This show has the potential like andor to create an organic, edgy, and unique perspective to a galaxy ripe with possibilities. I'll stay hopeful for Epsiode 3. Im equally happy for those who are enjoying it, though - theres positives to be gleamed definitely.
I know this is for the Acolyte reaction, but did you guys ever do the reaction to the final episode of ECHO? I only see the reactions for the first 4 episodes.
They’re all canon until they aren’t, I wish the creatives behind these projects wouldn’t just go over the books and figure it out later. There are too many instances of something happens in the book with said character but doesn’t when they are on film.
So far the show is decent, I don't think it's amazing its definitely missing a lot of the heart and soul that makes star wars great but for the most part I'm enjoying it and master Sol is easily my favorite character
@@Jabberwocky415 slightly? Obi Wan has a sense of humor. Anakin has a serious playful side. I think Anakin would have been exactly like Yord if Palpatine wasn’t influencing him. Anakin (just like Yord) comes on the scene like “I’m a big boy Jedi” trying to prove something. But then the “me, me, me” influence of Palpatine takes over.
It's not really a twin thing for Star Wars, but about duality. Everything is about 2. Light and dark. Opposing, but connected. Even Luke and Leia were twins, but they were also boy and girl twins. Every time something breaks, they mention some sort of couplings. Twin Suns, Sebulba's twin Twi'Leks, twins in the Mos Eisley cantina, TIE Fighter. Master and Apprentice Jedi and Sith.
I'm really enjoying Lee Jung-jae as Sol, but.....I can't help but think that with a name like Sol, the Jedi has a side gig as the owner of a kosher deli somewhere on Coruscant. 😁
Long time SW fan. Should be excited for 'new' story lines...but....this is just not written well, or acted well...AT ALL. I feel.a little sorry for reactors like yourselves whom have to like it for whatever reason. But c'mon....honestly...this is just not enjoyable to watch.

Hector, unlike a lot of males, is not repulsed by a woman in power, and it's not afraid to say it out loud for all the world to hear. Unless Thara Schoon, the actress who plays Tasi Lowa, Yord's padawan, is underaged.
There's alot of unpredictable stuff to this mystery. And as much as it seems like there are predictable answers, I think we are in for surprises and/or shocks. What really happened on Osha's homeworld? How did Mae survive when Sol saw her killed? Why was Mae so insistant that Jedi attack unarmed people? Why did Tobin choose suicide as redemption? Who trained Mae? How and why are Mae and Osha connected through visions? Why does Mae insist that the Jedi attack with all their might in that way?
The mystery isnt the twin thing, it's what the hell happened all those years ago that SPOILER FOR EP 2 caused a jedi master to commit suicide out of regret
*To* *The* *Critical* *Drinker* *&* *SW* *Theory* You’re still going to watch The Acolyte for the next 6 Tuesdays, Will Jordan and Niatoos Dadbeh. Will Jordan finished all of She-Hulk, didn’t he? And he saw all of Secret Invasion. And then watched Barbie on opening weekend like Ben Shapiro did. 🤣 Let’s say movie theaters completely die. Then movie studios stops making any more movies or rarely makes them. What will TCD mock then? The thing you mock is the thing you still need to create your content. What if Hollywood decided to make only TH-cam videos? You’re going to mock those videos then since movie and TV releases became scarce? Don’t worry, TCD. Good or bad, you’re still going to finish watching The Acolyte like you did for The Rings of Power S1. Then you will do the same for The Rings of Power S2 with Mary Sue Karen Galadriel. You will mock TRoP S2 early by late August once released but you will watch the entire season of that show. You need material for your comedy roast on anything that has “The Message”. I’ll say it again, I’m a Trumper or Trumpftard. I HATE LIBERALS. I HATE DEMOCRATS. I will vote for Trump again like I did 4 years ago. I don’t like this HollyWOKE shit either. But the anti-WOKE crowd are getting too overbearing themselves that it makes people hate content BEFORE even giving it a chance. I’m not trying to defend Disney here. I’m no Disney shill. I never said The Acolyte is any good. I just think both sides needs to CALM THE F**K DOWN. Two episodes and it’s already being judged? I didn’t like Andor’s first two episodes either and look how that turned out. If I recall, Andor released the first three episodes right away. This was on September 21, 2022. But since I used torrents, I only downloaded the first two. My mistake. Had I seen Ep 3, I would’ve never waited 8-9 months from finishing it. But it’s my own mistake for judging Andor so harshly after only two episodes. It wouldn’t have mattered if The Acolyte turned out amazing. The final 6 episodes will probably never change Will’s opinion but we know he’ll watch all of them. It’s insta-WOKE, so it will always be ridiculed. Will Jordan said he enjoyed Furiosa but it still flopped at the box office. Good or bad, nobody is really watching this nerd culture stuff these TH-camrs are talking about. I thought Barbie was lame and WOKE and that still made over $1.5B. I think Furiosa is good but it still flopped. Andor and Loki were good but they drew awful viewership. It really doesn’t matter if it’s good, bad, or WOKE. They can either flop or succeed regardless if they’re good, bad, or WOKE. *It* *doesn’t* *matter* *what* *side* *you’re* *on.* *If* *the* *content* *is* *trash,* *we* *all* *lose.* BTW, I’m a big fan of The Critical Drinker. Tyrone Magnus got me into TCD. But it’s very easy to predict what TCD will say. Almost redundant. These next 6 episodes will probably never change Will’s negative opinion on The Acolyte. Negativity is what draws his views. Not praises. And he will keep that same negative energy as it’s comedy material for his next video. I did rewatch some of The Acolyte yesterday and I do agree with a SW channel saying it doesn’t look as epic as it should be. You can see it in the trailers. Like it’s really made for TV. Yes, there are parts to it that are beautiful. Real locations. But rewatch the trailer and it looks like it has the same budget of what a more recent Star Trek series would have. Budget The Mandalorian per season (8 eps): $120M The Book of Boba Fett (7 eps): $105M Obi-Wan Kenobi (6 eps): $90M Andor (12 eps): $250M Ahsoka (8 eps): $100M The Acolyte (8 eps): $180M The Skeleton Crew reportedly has a budget of $136M. In comparison, House of the Dragon S1 was around $200M, $20M per episode. Not sure how much S2 will cost but if it’s still $20M per episode, it would put it at $160M since we’re getting only 8 episodes for Season 2. While The Rings of Power S1 had a budget of $462M. Andor might be the most expensive thanks to having the most episodes for one season, but it does look the part. They used real locations and used the least amount of The Volume. Episode 4 when we see Mon Mothma going to meet Luthen in Coruscant looked amazing. I think Andor gave us the best view around Coruscant since Attack of the Clones. I feel after rewatching The Acolyte, that it doesn’t look quite epic in scale. Maybe because we’ve been spoiled by Andor using real locations and not so reliant using Volume. Maybe we’ve been spoiled from the House of the Dragon S2 trailers where we see dragons flying over these beautiful locales. I think The Acolyte looks catered more for TV than something a big budget SW movie would bring us visually. I actually think The Acolyte has potential to still be awesome no matter how much hate and mockery it’s currently receiving from all these TH-camrs and for being the most *WOKE* and *gayest* SW project yet. I’m just not sure Leslye Headland can fully deliver on that potential since she’s no Tony Gilroy or Bryce Dallas Howard. Is Leslye more like Deborah Chow? I feel Ep 1 and 2 could’ve been far more engaging with a sense of urgency and raised stakes than what was shown. But they didn’t come off that way. They both ended abruptly with no “hook” to keep us engaged for that next episode. The next episode better be good because The Boys’ S4E1 comes out 2 days later. Then House of the Dragon S2 comes out 3 days after The Boys. These are already established shows with established and huge fanbases. Many of us are already quite invested with their characters while The Acolyte is completely new to many of us. Competition will only get tougher before The Acolyte’s Ep 4 comes out. Andor didn’t get going until Ep 3, so The Acolyte must do the same. It can’t afford another 7/10 “meh” episode on Tuesday. Back in 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, Stranger Things S4, and Obi-Wan Kenobi all came out on May 27. Then The Boys S3 came out a week later. Guess which one became the odd man out? Kenobi. It was being trashed while everyone was praising Top Gun 2, Stranger Things S4, and The Boys S3. The Acolyte does not want to be like that Obi-Wan series that’s getting swept under the rug and be completely forgotten. It needs to find a way to stand out and be far more engaging as it became an underdog from the get go. It better start getting very interesting by Episode 3 or viewers’ patience will run out and they will start to tune out to watch the other shows. I see the potential in The Acolyte. Finally, a story that’s not part of the Anakin Skywalker timeline set in the High Republic. That’s different. Then it involves a Sith or Siths in hiding that Jedis assumed went extinct. That’s another story angle live action Star Wars never fully explored. The potential for The Acolyte to be pretty awesome is there but could Leslye Headland’s writing take it there? I have my doubts.
I tried giving the first two episodes a chance but it is very underwhelming. C’mon Disney, you guys made Andor and the Mandalorian. You are capable of making good Star Wars content. The first two episodes are not giving me hope.
I said the same thing about killing Carrie Ann off so quickly. I got downvoted to oblivion. My beef is that and the same ole young padawan trauma dark side thing.

*SPOILERS*
Carrie-Anne Moss is only in this episode - and possibly the entirety of the series - for a little bit, but Master Indara is my favorite character of the show!
I love love this show so far FUCK the haters … fake SW FANS
They had me, and then they lost me, and then they got me 85% back. To your point, CA Moss was on pace to be the first serious Force character in this Universe in a long time. How do you see her performance and green light her death? Don't care about flashbacks, it's bad form to bait and switch her via all the pre-show marketing. As you were.
24:30 - Judging by the poster, that's Corey Taylor.
This is soooo Kill Bill!!!! Carrie went out the way Vivica went out in the first act 🤩
17:08 "Starro lives!"
Top Notch Episode 1. I want to know EVERYTHING lol.
I'm irritated. I was looking froward to rooting for Carrie-Ann Moss the entire series.
I agree but I would minus 10 points for killing the one person (Carrie Ann Moss) I was looking forward to.
Pretty sure she'll return in flashbacks. "One does not simply kill off Carrie-Ann Moss."
I sense a reaction! Great reaction! Let's go!
Guys, this is one hundred years before the prequels. Every Jedi who encounters her is going to die because they hadn't seen a Sith in 1000 years in TPM.
It doesn't have to be that simple
@@matheusfernandes2102 Yeah I think there's gonna be some sort of cover-up for political reasons which will ofc help lead to their downfall because theyre not prepared
i think thats why they dont have Yoda in the show, he would be around at this time and would definitely be involved in deliberations in the council to decide what to do about the darkside user and Mae. its an easy out for the writers of the show. stuff like that pulls me out
Its actually closer to 70 years before the Skywalker saga
@LordVader66 it's 132 BBY. The Phantom Menace is 32BBY. So yes its exactly 100 years
did you guys ever feel frustrated that the star wars universe never expanded on the MEANING of the color of lightsaber. From what i understand that color determines what kind of jedi they were. Not necessarily a ranking but in some way a sort of personality built into how they would approach situations
Well, it's not covered in the movies but is in books/comics
12:40 Hector 😂😂😂
19:04 I mean, if you have interstellar travel why would you colonize a cold and harsh planet? Also, there's really no need for snow if you have hoverboards (now I want a hoverboard scene in star wars, I wonder if there's one already in the books or comics)
Do you guys think the sith person sounds exactly like ultron lol
I hate to love this jedi knight. Hes so cocky but he's growing on me.
Yord is like Anakin if he was all in on the jedi Kool-Aid.
@@jinxie712 So, more or less young Obi-Wan, but slightly more headstrong.
Are you going to continue on with “The Boys” or were you only dropping 1 episode as a Patreon tease?
Chairy!!!
I would’ve preferred them teasing the Sith through out the series instead of showing him in the first episode
Not a very promising start, but I’m hoping the balance will start tipping away from the bad in favour of the good as the series goes on.
How are their accents offensive? I've never picked up on anything like that.
Stereotypical Asian accents for the Trade Federation Nemoidians in The Phantom Menace. Just like how Watto is a stereotype as well.
The deaging of John Stamos looks pretty decent ;) hehe
I'm really enjoying Lee Jung-jae as Sol, but.....I can't help but think that with a name like Sol, the Jedi has a side gig as the owner of a kosher deli somewhere on Coruscant. 😁
I believe it's a play on the capitol city of South Korea, Seoul.
Yall need to go react to that LOGAN the Wolf fan film!
finalythe good one became a story the light side are not good at all
This series is dope as hell, I really want this to be the jump off point for new shit, the martial arts and stuff is soooooo fucking awesome
23:28 😂😂😂
Love You Guys! The Jedi must die! 🤣🤣🤣
☮
Long time SW fan. Should be excited for 'new' story lines...but....this is just not written well, or acted well...AT ALL. I feel.a little sorry for reactors like yourselves whom have to like it for whatever reason. But c'mon....honestly...this is just not enjoyable to watch.
yup dead in the 1st episode lol
WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS!?!?! IM SO SICK OF THIS CHANNEL!! It's Saturday and you haven't uploaded Acolyte ep 2 reaction yet!! I'M FIEDING!! LOL 🤣🤣🤣 All kidding aside, glad you are doing this series. Can't wait until ep 2!! Love your channel
Hector, unlike a lot of males, is not repulsed by a woman in power, and it's not afraid to say it out loud for all the world to hear. Unless Thara Schoon, the actress who plays Tasi Lowa, Yord's padawan, is underaged.
Episode 2 spoiler guys... it is not communication with Mae... Mae thinks Osha is dead.
BRAZIL
Everything feels so predictable. I keep seeing people calling this a mystery, am I the only one that doesn't think it's much of a mystery?
There's alot of unpredictable stuff to this mystery. And as much as it seems like there are predictable answers, I think we are in for surprises and/or shocks.
What really happened on Osha's homeworld?
How did Mae survive when Sol saw her killed?
Why was Mae so insistant that Jedi attack unarmed people?
Why did Tobin choose suicide as redemption?
Who trained Mae?
How and why are Mae and Osha connected through visions?
Why does Mae insist that the Jedi attack with all their might in that way?
Yes, you are.
Yeah you pretty much are.
The mystery isnt the twin thing, it's what the hell happened all those years ago that SPOILER FOR EP 2 caused a jedi master to commit suicide out of regret
The mystery isn't "who done it." The mystery is "why did Mae do it" and "what did the Jedi do on her home world"

You’re still going to watch The Acolyte for the next 6 Tuesdays, Will Jordan and Niatoos Dadbeh. Will Jordan finished all of She-Hulk, didn’t he? And he saw all of Secret Invasion. And then watched Barbie on opening weekend like Ben Shapiro did. 🤣
Let’s say movie theaters completely die.
*It* *doesn’t* *matter* *what* *side* *you’re* *on.* *If* *the* *content* *is* *trash,* *we* *all* *lose.*
BTW, I’m a big fan of The Critical Drinker.
Budget
The Mandalorian per season (8 eps): $120M
The Book of Boba Fett (7 eps): $105M
Obi-Wan Kenobi (6 eps): $90M
Andor (12 eps): $250M
Ahsoka (8 eps): $100M
The Acolyte (8 eps): $180M
The Skeleton Crew reportedly has a budget of $136M.
I think reviewers and commenters are the only people watching.
@@DinosaurAttackForce over two episodes right? 3M on the first and 1.8M on the 2cd for a total of 4.8.
… are you ok? 😂
All I can say is ... can't wait for season 2 of 'Andor'.
Shame you’re not enjoying it, it’s great Star Wars
I mean me too, but compared to a lot of Star Wars content I've sat through this was pretty good.
@@Fangtorn It would be pretty good if this was 20 years ago and network television but for a 170 million dollar premium series this is bad.
From Analin to Kylo now OSHA and her sister…I’m exhausted. I was expecting the cool stuff like the force field and the fighting. I just was hoping for a new take and a new type of story.
Well mae wasn’t a padawan lmao
Lol mae was trained as an acolyte she wasn't a padawan
