The writers of this show have ironically shown why “mansplaining” exists: “No, you can’t have an open flame in a vacuum. No, you can’t set fire to a stone building. No, a dagger to the chest is not instant death. Let me explain…”
Don't confuse men being condescending and talks-over-her dismissive of women as the same thing as an experienced person with any kind of skill, who happens to be a man, telling an ignorant layman, who happens to be a woman, why she can't ignore the laws of reality and build a functional boat out of cooked spaghetti in order to fly in it to the moon. The latter exists, and so does the former, and the latter does not justify the former -- nor does it justify pretending that the former does not exist or is not obnoxious and wrong.
I think they (writers - term used loosely) are setting up an obvious "oh but the Jedi had some attack blah blah blah that killed the witches yet the space brats blame each other...then REVEAL!!!" ugh. Yeah. Yawn City.
At this point I really think it's only for the Writers and Directors. They are basically those people who wrote fanfics or made fanfilms they thought were BETTER than Star Wars and have now been given massive budgets to make their versions reality and that's all they care about.
@@gregowen2022 Or Hell, write fanfiction, draw a fan comic, make fan videos. Technology has made it almost comically easy for fans to make their own projects without massive budgets.

As a gay man, I should feel insulted… but instead I had a little chuckle and see how this came to be 😂 Just like women, men and any other ‚gender‘ or sexual orientation, we‘re not all alike or like the same stuff. Sugar… Spice… and Everything nice… and by accident mystery chemical S… thus cam to be Buttercup and Bubbles. And Fuzzy Lumpkins decided to write them a TV show.
@@a.a.werding2620 I'm definitely not bashing people for who they are! The insult is Disney being such monumental hacks that they try to turn identity into money. If you haven't seen Javier Bardem's character in Skyfall I recommend you watch the movie. The character is apparently gay, but it has nothing to do with his motivations as a villain. His gayness is one of the many aspects of a multi-faceted character, whereas Disney's portrayal of gays is flat as F, and in films like David Lynch's Dune the gayness is part of the Baron's perverted persona.

Im 45 but the Disney Star Wars efforts have left me feeling older than my years. Every time I try to watch them, I never finish them and simply end up shaking my head and muttering "I guess this is what's wanted now".
Here's what happens: 1. Gets ahold of beloved IP. 2. Pride takes over and, instead of staying true to the theme of IP, they attempt to leave their mark so they can gloat, "Hey, look, I did that! Aren't I smart and quirky?" 3. IP utterly ruined.
Who is it for? It's for the people who want to burn down legacies. The people who cry about something being problematic even though they've never been interested in the IP. The narcissist who can only relate if they see themselves in something. The people you don't want making decisions about your business that caters to the common person.

The worst part is they think all will be fine and dandy because they have the silly mystery. Why is hollywood so obsessed with the mystery box? a mystery is worthless without a good story backing it up.
This is what they learned from JJ, they learned you don't have to actually have a good story of a mystery to climb to the top on the back of the empty mystery boxes. JJ didn't just helped ruin Star Trek and Star Wars, he did his fair share ruining the whole industry.
What exactly is the mystery, as it's certainly not the 'who is killing Jedi' the show's marketing set up? Is it 'who killed the coven'? - obviously the Jedi; is it 'who is zipper-face sith lord'? - obviously one of the mothers. The real mystery is what was the show's budget *really* spent on?
It’s some of the most hilarious writing I’ve seen in a while. Everyone is making the most idiotic decisions. The dialog is worse than even AI would turn out.
This series had a budget of 180 million. WTF. Can we see that in the production quality? No new space fighters. No blasters. Minimal light sabre usage. No epic space battles. This is money laundering 101.
Little Platoon refers to the twins as Fannie Mae and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. I was thus amused in this video to hear that FEMA and OSHA were in conflict. I rather enjoy the concept of two federal agencies attempting to murder one another in a badly written sci-fi program.

Thank you for this. It really does seem like the entertainment industry as a whole just doesnt get it or refuses to listen to legitimate criticism. Also seems like everyone completely tossed aside any sort of pre established literary tactics that have been working for more than several decades.
The thing is though Star Wars already has amazing characters that are women like Leia, Mon Mothma, Padme, Sabine, Ashoka and Jyn Erso. Which shows they can write female characters as good as the male ones and it’s sad to see them not put that love and craft into making those good female characters.
This is honestly some of the best criticism I have seen. The fact that you dive into what casual female audiences want is rare and a very good point to bring up.
That’s the key, it’s not for us the core audience. They’re making art house films for themselves and a tiny minority of people living in the world today.
Arthouse implies some level of artistic merit, and the average mindless blockbuster action flick has more of that than this could ever hope to achieve.
I don't think that's true. Self inserts come from very ego-driven writers. I'm writing an epic fantasy series and the closest thing to a self insert in the whole series is a character who doesn't last very long. None of the main characters are anything like me. The three most important characters are a stoic hero, a wealthy girl, and an outgoing, friendly kid. I'm a hermit who writes. I don't behave or think like any of my characters and that's a big part of why the story is awesome. The characters keep doing things because of who they are and it's like I'm just learning about this world through them.
My absolute favorite recurring bit of yours is the "young people phrases". Its even better because I'm one of those "young people" and have no clue what any of those words mean.
We loved Leia and Amidala... so they not understand what a hit Mara Jade would have been? She's literally the Scarlett Johanssen Black Widow of the Star Wars canon.
I'm glad to see a review about Star Wars that doesn't rant about Star Wars being a boy brand and acknowledges what female Star Wars fans like about Star Wars.

2. Pride takes over and, instead of staying true to the theme of IP, they attempt to leave their mark so they can gloat, "Hey, look, I did that! Aren't I smart and quirky?"
3. IP utterly ruined.
Who is it for? It's for the people who want to burn down legacies. The people who cry about something being problematic even though they've never been interested in the IP. The narcissist who can only relate if they see themselves in something. The people you don't want making decisions about your business that caters to the common person.

Exactly. You have to give a damn about the people and world to care what’s in the box
This is what they learned from JJ, they learned you don't have to actually have a good story of a mystery to climb to the top on the back of the empty mystery boxes.
JJ didn't just helped ruin Star Trek and Star Wars, he did his fair share ruining the whole industry.
Mystery box plot lines are the go to for shit writers who have more big ideas than the creativity to execute them.
Look at JJ Abrams entire career.

Every writer does self-inserts. If you know who the writer is, you will know if you will like the end product.
