This year was pretty good for games, but absolutely terrible for the industry. Games are going in a terrible direction, but at least we can still play old games for now. Looking forward to more Wabbing in 2018, and everyone have a good one!
agree with everything except for resident evil 7 with the amount of trash we had this year i just dont feel resi 7 deserved to be amongst that list it was an improvement upon previous versions while it wasnt the classic resi from times gone it was better than the shooty shooty bang resi games we have had recently

4 that imediatly come to mind are SWBF2, COD WW II, Mass Effect Andromeda and Destiny 2 but there were so many, yes. Gran Torismo, Agents Of Mayhem, Need For Speed Payback, LIS BTS Episode 3 ect... so many. Worst one is SWBF2. 2017 definately was a sucky year for video games.
Disagree completely with RE7 being on the list. I'm happy to see a return to atmospheric horror and suspense that defined the series. Cheesy jump scares at obvious places was always part of it since RE1.
What about the fact that it teleports people around the map for the sake of these jump scares, it's a one trick pony designed for PSVR, it's not fit to tie the shoe laces of it's early incarnations or other top horror games like Amnesia or Outlast. It constantly breaks immersion with it's impossible jump scares, like when you watch that guy walk around the corner near the kitchen and then he suddenly dives through the kitchen wall to scare you, it was impossible for him to get to the kitchen from where he was, the game is just full of immersion breakers, dreadful.
I know right, the fact that they can only scare you with shit thats impossible shows how trash of a game it is. I have played the game and agree it completely ruins immersion.

I loved RE7 and while I agree that the jumpscare bits and shit were immersion breaking and out of place the rest of the game was a return to form and gave me hopes for future Resident Evil games, the only real problem is it's just not scary. Bought the Vive in may 2016, used it for around 2 months. Novelty wore off quickly. THE game for me was Xcom 2 War of the chosen. 212 hours played (including the original xcom 2).

You really have to play Xcom 2 with the War of the chosen. My profile skin is from 1997 with my local soccer team (Derby County) skin I uploaded. My favourite Quakeworld Mod was 'PainKeep'.

I can see both sides of people saying 2017 and 2016 were both good and bad years for gaming. There's been a pretty fair number of really fantastic games (of course there's gonna be stinkers, that's business as usual) but at the same time both years have also been pure cultivation for the most disgusting and horrible business practices that have ruined a lot of games that could have been great. The AAA scene is a complete mess but at least most good indies are fantastic when you can find them.

Nier is probably the top game to get on my list - pretty much everyone who's played it have told me it's fantastic so I'm willing to give that a bash! There are still excellent games in the AAA scene, it's just a shame the crap drowns them out media-wise and sales-wise.
RE7? In the extreme minority there. And I do mean extreme minority. RE7 brought the game back to its roots, and introduced the most immersive experience to date in the genre. Not just the fact that it was FPS, but it was in VR, and if you didn't play it in VR, you've no right to even suggest it as being a bad game. It was literally genre defining if you're to judge a horror game on...well...horror. Scared the absolute bollocks out of me on the PSVR.

this has been a good/bad year for games. I don't think games will be what they were unless we have another crash but one thing that made it bearable was finding this channel. NFS Payback... God. I've compared it as the CoD of racing games, but it's probably even worse than that at this point. In your WAB of it I said if I could mod out the cutscenes I would probably play it, but after hearing all the annoying dialogue during racing that would have to go too.. and with all of that gone I'm not even convinced it's a good or even average racing/driving game at best so what would even be the point of buying it? At this point I don't even think I'd buy it if it was on sale for like 5-10 dollars.
Kyle Soler Pretty much I am near 60 hours in the game so here is what I can say: -Police AI can be tough and pursuits have a great soundtrack, but sadly are limited and timed. -Customisation on some cars is impressive while some might be lacking but still have quite a few good parts on them. -Physics aren’t perfect but are driveable -
I can't remember the last time I bought a non-nintendo AAA game and was able to enjoy it. . Games have gotten so bad that I've lost faith in gaming entirely. 34 and been gaming since I was 4, and I've become so disinterested that I just don't care anymore. Most of what I play is League and cheap indie puzzle games.

I think re7 was one of the best games this year. It's a great mix of old school re and the new school while adding something fresh and new for the series. But I do agree with most of this list. It's sad that there are more bad games then good. I can probably count the amount of good games I played on 1 hand.

I bought Outlast 2 the second it came available to buy and on the day of launch started playing it. I don't think I got more than two hrs into it when I put it on the back burner, where it's been ever since. Nowhere near as good at the first one. Nowhere even near.

I think 2018 *will* be the Death of the Micro-Transactions, as both the United States Government *and* the European Union Central Comitte are giving *Serious* thought to Making them (and Loot Boxes) actually *Illegal* in those Markets.. Good riddance to both I Say! Sadly, that is also exactly what needs to Happen, as, unfortunately, about the only way Loot Boxes and Micro-Transactions are going to be Stopped is for a *Major* market (and you don't get *more* major than the United States) to *Criminalise* the damn Things!
I don't know what makes you guys think that microtransactions will ever go away. Loot boxes probably will, if anything due to bad reputation associated with them alone, but microtransactions will always be apart of gaming in some capacity or another. Hell, it's not even like its inherently 'bad', it was a great way to add content post development when it initially started, much like DLC. If the market would actually vote with their dollar, the industry could be steered back towards MEANINGFUL content, but such vast amounts of people have no problem just throwing money at this shit that's taken over the past 5 years or so without much concern for the value of what they're buying.
Both Several Members of the EU Central Committee, including some very Powerful Politicians from Germany, Belgium and France (and those 3 Nations basically *are* the Bloody EU) as well several *Very Powerful* State Senators and Representatives in the United States Government, some also High Ranking Members of the Federal Trade Commission, have called for "In Game Purchases" (which Includes Micro transactions, DLC, Season passes) ETC to be Made *Illegal* ! If/When that kind of Litigation is passed, Micro transactions (as well as DLC) will cease to Exist as in game Purchases are included at a Core Code Level, so if One Major Market (Like the US, which is the biggest Gaming Market of the lot) Bans In Game Purchases, then they will Vanish from all Versions as Companies are not going to make *two* Versions of the Core Code, because that is simply just not Profitable!. Government Regulation on Gaming, in at *least* the United States, is now *Inevitable* IMO, and I seriously doubt its going to stop at just Lootboxes!
They might as well have one long cutscene in most of these games. And sometimes it will say press X or A, but pressing them won't matter to whats being displayed.

Dregomz02 I don't think you played the game at all... expensive DLC??? It was $20 which is dirt cheap to every other season pass. While it was overhyped, it wasn't bad. It was a fun challenging game, it got easier as it went on and you got more powerful. Sure the voice acting was a bit off and the campaign was kind of eh, but the open world is what made the game. It ran at 30fps, and the graphics fit the aesthetic of the game. Sure the frame rate dropped a bit at times, but it was hardly a problem, and most of it's fixed by now with the patches. To be honest you sound like you watched like 10 mins of the game and then you were done. Playing the game is a whole different experience than watching it. It's a fun game to sit back and play. The game rewards you for being creative.
Mack do you even look at the game settings before you start? You can turn off alot of HUD elements like health bars and 'last known position', Mass Effect And. had it and SniperElite4. You even ripped on NFS Payback because of custcenes and phone calls, which were mostly over after the first hour of play. Disappointing.
I didn't spent any cent in the newest games all I was waiting for were the autumn and winter sales just to buy good old games at 70% less. Any game that contains microtransactions should be a NO for your wallet
Escape from Tarkov does not have a pay to win system, as you permanently lose any item you die with or that is looted from your body with/without insurance. Any weapon that is currently in the beta can be attained during normal testing. It would be a different story if the Edge Of Darkness version came with permanent over powered weapons that no one else could reasonably attain without spending real money on. Although a weak case can be made for the stash (inventory space). This inventory space can not be lost until the project goes live (Escape from Tarkov is still in beta), but this does not effect pvp/pve in anyway, because you can only bring so much into a raid. Now Escape from Tarkov is not a game yet, so when it does go live everyone starts off in the same situation. Although all backers will receive something for supporting development. Developers big or small do need funds (especially small developers) to continue development. It is sad how people don't understand this simple fundamental part of development (they need to raise funds). There is also a differences between alpha/beta projects, and a game.

To be fair regarding RE7, the old games done the same sorta thing with items, especially RE4

NFS Payback... God. I've compared it as the CoD of racing games, but it's probably even worse than that at this point. In your WAB of it I said if I could mod out the cutscenes I would probably play it, but after hearing all the annoying dialogue during racing that would have to go too.. and with all of that gone I'm not even convinced it's a good or even average racing/driving game at best so what would even be the point of buying it? At this point I don't even think I'd buy it if it was on sale for like 5-10 dollars.
Its bad but it is better than 2015 and Rivals atleast.
Btw I haven't played it but I have seen letsplays of it.
Kyle Soler Pretty much I am near 60 hours in the game so here is what I can say:
-Police AI can be tough and pursuits have a great soundtrack, but sadly are limited and timed.
-Customisation on some cars is impressive while some might be lacking but still have quite a few good parts on them.
-Physics aren’t perfect but are driveable

I can't remember the last time I bought a non-nintendo AAA game and was able to enjoy it. . Games have gotten so bad that I've lost faith in gaming entirely. 34 and been gaming since I was 4, and I've become so disinterested that I just don't care anymore. Most of what I play is League and cheap indie puzzle games.

The Need for Speed part got me good.
I think re7 was one of the best games this year. It's a great mix of old school re and the new school while adding something fresh and new for the series. But I do agree with most of this list. It's sad that there are more bad games then good. I can probably count the amount of good games I played on 1 hand.

How does green man gaming store works? Is this a CD-Keys store that you activate in Steam... Does it have it's own software to handle your library? or it enables you to download *.Iso files fo the games... how does it work? Could you do a tutorial video or something?

I bought Outlast 2 the second it came available to buy and on the day of launch started playing it. I don't think I got more than two hrs into it when I put it on the back burner, where it's been ever since. Nowhere near as good at the first one. Nowhere even near.

I think 2018 *will* be the Death of the Micro-Transactions, as both the United States Government *and* the European Union Central Comitte are giving *Serious* thought to Making them (and Loot Boxes) actually *Illegal* in those Markets.. Good riddance to both I Say!
Sadly, that is also exactly what needs to Happen, as, unfortunately, about the only way Loot Boxes and Micro-Transactions are going to be Stopped is for a *Major* market (and you don't get *more* major than the United States) to *Criminalise* the damn Things!
I don't know what makes you guys think that microtransactions will ever go away. Loot boxes probably will, if anything due to bad reputation associated with them alone, but microtransactions will always be apart of gaming in some capacity or another.
Hell, it's not even like its inherently 'bad', it was a great way to add content post development when it initially started, much like DLC. If the market would actually vote with their dollar, the industry could be steered back towards MEANINGFUL content, but such vast amounts of people have no problem just throwing money at this shit that's taken over the past 5 years or so without much concern for the value of what they're buying.
Both Several Members of the EU Central Committee, including some very Powerful Politicians from Germany, Belgium and France (and those 3 Nations basically *are* the Bloody EU) as well several *Very Powerful* State Senators and Representatives in the United States Government, some also High Ranking Members of the Federal Trade Commission, have called for "In Game Purchases" (which Includes Micro transactions, DLC, Season passes) ETC to be Made *Illegal* !
If/When that kind of Litigation is passed, Micro transactions (as well as DLC) will cease to Exist as in game Purchases are included at a Core Code Level, so if One Major Market (Like the US, which is the biggest Gaming Market of the lot) Bans In Game Purchases, then they will Vanish from all Versions as Companies are not going to make *two* Versions of the Core Code, because that is simply just not Profitable!.
Government Regulation on Gaming, in at *least* the United States, is now *Inevitable* IMO, and I seriously doubt its going to stop at just Lootboxes!
Not even started yet and I know this will be a gooden.

Dregomz02 I don't think you played the game at all... expensive DLC??? It was $20 which is dirt cheap to every other season pass. While it was overhyped, it wasn't bad. It was a fun challenging game, it got easier as it went on and you got more powerful. Sure the voice acting was a bit off and the campaign was kind of eh, but the open world is what made the game. It ran at 30fps, and the graphics fit the aesthetic of the game. Sure the frame rate dropped a bit at times, but it was hardly a problem, and most of it's fixed by now with the patches. To be honest you sound like you watched like 10 mins of the game and then you were done. Playing the game is a whole different experience than watching it. It's a fun game to sit back and play. The game rewards you for being creative.
Mack do you even look at the game settings before you start? You can turn off alot of HUD elements like health bars and 'last known position', Mass Effect And. had it and SniperElite4. You even ripped on NFS Payback because of custcenes and phone calls, which were mostly over after the first hour of play. Disappointing.
I didn't spent any cent in the newest games all I was waiting for were the autumn and winter sales just to buy good old games at 70% less. Any game that contains microtransactions should be a NO for your wallet
Escape from Tarkov does not have a pay to win system, as you permanently lose any item you die with or that is looted from your body with/without insurance.
Any weapon that is currently in the beta can be attained during normal testing.
It would be a different story if the Edge Of Darkness version came with permanent over powered weapons that no one else could reasonably attain without spending real money on.
Although a weak case can be made for the stash (inventory space).
This inventory space can not be lost until the project goes live (Escape from Tarkov is still in beta), but this does not effect pvp/pve in anyway, because you can only bring so much into a raid.
Now Escape from Tarkov is not a game yet, so when it does go live everyone starts off in the same situation.
Although all backers will receive something for supporting development.
Developers big or small do need funds (especially small developers) to continue development. It is sad how people don't understand this simple fundamental part of development (they need to raise funds).
There is also a differences between alpha/beta projects, and a game.
