That starting area is just ganker paradise, so much open than first step and even emptier, the ghost graves are there to mark future deaths
so basically it's just the item throwing daggers with a fancy moveset and less range
yes, they are useless, your normal daggers can output better damage

No idea what they were thinking as far as the poise changes. 1.10 was the best change they made and all they had to do with this most recent patch was fix hyper armor. And other things we asked for of course, but come on, feels like we are back in 1.09 days... obviously though making throwing daggers poisable is the right call here despite all that said.
I am probably the only one remaining love to 1.09 in my opinion it was almost perfect. The only thing needed is making every r2 break poise, and increase of sone (nagakiba r2, Curved sword r2, big truthting swords r2, and so on) some, so more weapons would be able to use them.
That's all about poise. Every other changes was either good, as backstab changes, or pointless as caestus r2 nerf for example. But that's me. I would much prefer if all weapons just had usable r2's and complete usable move sets in 1.09 that global poise and hyper armour changes in 1.10.
But what makes me really sad, is overlooked one handed great weapons, like Axes and Great hammers. Before in 1.09 they was completely usable one-handed but now they don't have any hyper armour that way wich s*cks.
Like why would anyone use a weapon that doesnt break poise, they have essentially removed over half the weapons from the game

You know a weapon is bad when ever J9 can't kill two AoW spaming PvErs in 5 minutes.
apparently the throwing weapons are insane on Int or Faith infusions as they scale physical and element damage off of chosen magic stat, like Erdsteel Daggers but can be Magic/Flame Art/Cold/Sacred.
If you use the Smithing talisman, it will add about 35 or so damage per dagger when two handed, that's why he isn't dealing that much damage
I think there is also an armor piece that improves throwing attacks bc I was fighting a player in arena that was doing insane damage with the daggers

@idontbelieveanything that's true! But you can put an ash of War on there that does poise damage, horah stomp can be put on there i think
I got the Lizard GS from an imp, it has much better range on the R2 projectile.
@lharsay that was actually my first weapon from an enemy, was amazed how much range it had, although the charged talisman doesn't give the projectile any extra damage also doesn't build up any ailments if infused

Seems like a good side weapon to finish someone off or pressure someone from range like mages. I guess Fromsoft is trying to create actually playable weapons from previously what were only consumables.
By the way throwing daggers are buffed by the multi hit talismans. Having both on ups the damage a fair bit, and the godskin cloth is really good for sustain on them. The jumping attacks have surprisingly decent tracking, i find they tend to hit more often than neutral r1s and especially r2s. And if you land a headshot, you can usually combo into an ash.
Perfumes are buffed by the perfumer talisman, and they have a backstep feint attack like the great katana which is actually decent. The backstep attack also has really good range. Theyre also much better once you get the perfume specific ashes.
Definitely not the best weapons, but theyre decent with the right setups
Claws of night also throw 6 daggers on the r2 and ash of war. It does pretty decent damage as well and can apply bleed.
Those claws are leagues better than the daggers.
I’ve rolled through the map at least 3 times now with hidden path bait messages
Ganker weapon, at least the range is limited. I could see myself using it as a tool to torture bonfire duelist/leftover hosts, to meme on them with headshots but i have light bows for that so idk.

They are good with the ash of war that spam daggers I use them a lot in PvP
Hear me out... the ash of war flower bloom thingy (that deals more damage if the target is poisoned or rot) + poison infuse.
Jee have you seen the running attack for the cirque? It feels faster than running lmao
I find open world invades to be annoying because I just want to fight the invader and they just run forever. I wish they would have just added an item that the host could use that would sacrifice 1/4th of the hosts health to trap all players in an evergail. I just want to fight and move on, rather than chase someone for 5 to 10 minutes. Maybe even make it where the host sacrifices more health for every ally summoned.
I think the point of these weapons is definitely to chip away at people and set them up for killing, definitely better in the arena fights with no estus, with estus though this just isnt gonna cut it in 1v2 or 1v3 invasions
good tool for finishing off someone running away and healing or to annoy passive ganks
It does better damage if you Flame Art or Sacred path it. Thats why it has the E/E for int fth.
Trust me I thought the same when I used it physical.
Even the disc weapons that you throw with the R2 do better on Sacred. I got mine +25 with flame art and they hit like a truck
Just my take but these are definitely going to be used probably as offhand frost or bleed.
@Jeenine I don't think These weapons were intended to Be used as the main Weapon they Were made for usage as the the offhand Because these Are probably the best offhand weapons In The game and could Be probably stupid asf if They fix em and make them do A little more poise dmg.... I Tried these Out in duels and they're Stupid....

These are Probably one of if not thee best offhand setup in the Game Get a headshot which Stuns ya opponent to combo Mainhand Like Halberd R1/Greatsword R1/Thrusting sword R1 or Some ashes Like Fs/Sword dance/Spinslash Ect
These dagger Weapons are Very Good just not in Invasions

Most stuff in dlc seems to be designed for off hand. Even backhand blades feel pretty good off hand. Except for LGS and GK.
not good in invasions? Its literally the best tool to finish off low health players who roll away and try to heal.

You can also use the claws of night as the running r1 and ash both throw daggers
Perfume bottles have r2 backstep attack, too. I think it's meant to be a more defensive weapon than offensive
I thought the daggers were fun but the neutral heavy attack needs fixed. The jump heavy on the other hand is what you want to use most, it can get head shots pretty often and a follow up light can true combo
I wonder how good the spiked great spear would be in PvP, because the skill imo looks absolutely cancer but I have yet to see what it can do in invasions.
i used the throwing knives in my off hand and shamshir in main and it was pretty useful
My fellow tarnished, try running claw talisman + spear talisman on them. I also run them on a pure int build. My jump attacks chunk!
Try making use of it's feint attack, though I doubt that'd make up for the subpar damage and piss poor tracking ability.
I feel they're more like the old light bow rolling build in DS3. Which might be hella annoying with some latency and light rolling involved. But since in ER it favors roll catching so much, it won't be as viable.
The charged R2 should be good on wake up, but other than that the perfume bottles seem kinda meh

I’m doing a Roshi kung fu rp build and the daggers although aren’t lore accurate still kinda for the martial arts vibe and I’ve been finding a lot of success with the daggers for one thing mainly after you hit a combo swap to duel daggers and jump attack throw 2 you usually will kill the low person
Honestly best success I've had with these things is off handing them and using them for a poking tool and turn & burns. They do good chip damage.

i put endure on my lightning perfume bottle and the charge R2 is basically a walmart thunderstorm but works pretty good on the dex build

If you free aim the rolling sparks aow at your feet with perfume, it does pretty alright damage. Still bad in pvp tho.

Try the throwing backhand blades. Much more viable.
It be refreshing when more people start to invade or increase number of invaders in a patch 2v1 to a 3 v1 just not it no more especially with the new weapons and bulids

Is there different perfumes of each type or damage? Or infusing it with such changes the damage and the particles?

why would I ever use daggers over a short bow tho? it's basically the same thing but bow does better damage, has better range, can apply rot and sleep... idk, i don't really like new weapons except for great katanas and backhand blades, everything else is straigh tup useless in pvp, even light gretswords because they do no poise damage at all and everyone can just hit you back
They’re more powerful powerstancing, but they’re also better if you free aim them; it uses their long range better.
They gave my mage build a sword that acts as a catalyst so I'm loving the new weapons for that alone

standing R2 is bugged, one of the daggers flies too far and aways miss, it doest center on lock on. It misses even enemies that are not moving at all

I don't get why they're not buffable. They already do pitiful damage, at least give me the option to infuse them with things like flame strike or cragblade, or buff them with greases.
I can't think of a good explanation, they probably have issues with the engine when applying buffs to a thrown object and they're too lazy to touch the code.
Seriously, sounds like a build problem, I easily get 500 damage combos on players with them. Wharged heavy and jumping heavy are the way to play this weapon, the R1 is pointless in PvP.
Idk why are people complaining, in these had actual range or damage people would be complaining about that lmao
