Nice video he reminds me of myself as a 45 year veteran master auto tech I enjoyed watching him work and listening to him talk ,good man ! Good job it's a pleasure seeing an old school hardcore mechanic work ,thanks
Thank you for your kind words. I learned from an old school mechanic. Take it apart and see why it stopped working. He taught me that if you take it apart and can't fix it, you are no worse than when you started.
Thanks Kevin, my golf cart was doing the same thing. For some reason gas was not getting to the carburetor. After watching you I decided to air out the gas line. Before removing the carb, I decided that I needed to get gas up to the carb by siphoning the line. Then I reconnected the hose. By God, It works like a charm. Had not been use in 3 years. Thanks for the video.
I have been re-watching your club cart repair videos. I ended up purchasing a 1997 gas powered DS. It will climb my steep driveway, not fast but it can climb it. Watching your videos really helped me. I think I can maintain my cart. My used cart starts and runs fine, but I plan to change the oil and filter, air filter and possible the differential fluid so I'll know where I stand. The carburetor and gas filters were replaced last year. I plan to empty the gas tank and start out with fresh fuel with Stabilizer added. I plan to add a rear seat soon and stronger rear springs, if necessary. Thank you so much for your videos.
Thank you so much for sharing your videos Kevin my husband was able to fix our golf cart 😊 he took the gas tank out cleaned it out put new gas in it ..took the carb off and cleaned it and put a new fuel filter on it and now it's running great!!
Great Vid... It is really really helpful being that there aren't very many videos that I can find for this Club Car ( that is showing a detailed visual of what to do). I have a 2001 CC Pioneer 1200. Supposedly has a bad fuel pump but it got delivered a mess. The harness is all over the place as well as all kinds of extra parts and wires. Found an Electric Fuel Pumped on the frame which confused me til I saw the different screws holding it in along with all the other added things. I'm watching these so I can see where to start My brother told me, Spark, Fuel, Air and go from there. So I will try again tomorrow. Thanks Again! I appreciate and I'm pretty sure most of us are.
I have been working on My wife’s ez go txt gas golf cart. When we got back from vacation the cart was running ruff. I thought it just needed to be run down the road to clean it out. At first it worked. Everything seemed good. I let it sit for about an hour it would take a while like the first time. Then clear up. It was almost like under a load it would have half the power till I ran it down the road. Like it was losing power. Straining to get up a hill. I took the carburetor off cleaned it. Took the jet’s out cleaned them. The carburetor is super clean now. Put it all back together. Replaced all gas lines. Fuel pump is pumping gas. It’s still doing the same thing. I don’t understand what’s going on. In neutral it revs up fine. Like it should but as soon as I put it in drive and drive it down the road it acts like it straining again. Put it in neutral it does fine. Like no power under a load.
Lack of power is a symptom of loss of compression. If you have the 2 cylinder robin engine, adjust the valves to .004" (4 thousandths of an inch). The engine must be COLD to properly perform the adjustment.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts Thank for answering me. I really do appreciate it. I did a compression test. Both cylinders were reading 150 psi. Turns out it was either the gas or the spark plugs. Which I drained and put 93 octane and sea foam. Also replaced the spark plugs. It’s running better than before. I really learned a lot watching your videos. Look forward to more. Thanks again!
Glad you found the solution. I recommend ethanol-free gasoline only, if you have access to it in your area. High octane fuels are not recommended in these engines.
Thanks....talking my golf cart out of storage for the first time next week and just want to be aware of what I may be looking at. Maybe a good idea for a video....taking your golf cart out of storage and prepping it??
My man you were spot-on with this repair. I have a 1996 Club Car had an issue where it was just turning over and took a while to start. I cleaned out the carburetor the bowl and there was water in the bowl. I have a question though when I smash the gas down to the floor it wants to crank over but not start when I bring the pedal halfway back is when it starts what needs to be adjusted
The engine should crank at high pedal (barely pressed) and start running on its own power with a little more pedal. If you smash it to the floor, it should still fire up and go. The older Club Car DS's are a bit hard starting (in my experience). Its normal to give it a little choke when starting full throttle, even hot. Its possible that your cables are sticking or need to be adjusted. There are two, one from the control box to the governor and another from the governor to the carburetor. If I recall, the only one that can be adjusted is the one from the control box to the governor.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts I have a 1991 gas DS with the Kawasaki motor, I don't have an electric fuel pump to pull the line can I use a siphon pump to get the three-year-old fuel out of it and pull the carburetor as well, there is ethanol all over Arizona so I can't get non-ethanol fuel like I can in Montana. It's at because I couldn't get to the cart for three years. What do you think Kevin?
I’m not getting gas flow from the tank. I’ve replaced the fuel pump, fuel filters, all the gas lines, the carburetor, spark plug and even replaced the air filter. I pulled the gas line out, no obstructions. There is suction however , as when I pull the spark plug, it’s pulling air when stepping in the gas. I can’t figure out what the issue is. Any suggestions?
Hey Kevin, I have a Ez-Go 2005 and when I push the pedal down it turns over but doesn’t crank, However when I spray Super Tech Engine Starting Fluid on the carburetor it tries to crank but then can’t and stops. ( when It turns over the clutch doesn’t move it just stays in one position and rolls)
Hi sit with a problem on one of these engines it got spark carberattor clean fuel enough but still no start took of airfilter pipe choked it with my hand still no start. Oil enough and on Mark dipstick. Got a oil leak on secondary dipstick hole that's been blocked of thats it but no start. Can I say it's compression or is there something else I must first check? Would appreciate your info
I am honestly new to golf carts and had the exact same issue. What is the parts number for a new carburetor. Or what would I search for when looking it up as well as a fuel pump. Wanting to change carb, fuel pump lines and fuel filters.
kevin The car runs but then it doesn't start. I wait a moment and then go. There are moments that it is difficult for him to run . Is it just the carburetor?
Hey Kevin! I have a 2000 DS gas club car. Engine rebuilt, new fuel filters, carb cleaned. Ran for a day then won’t start again. Checked the lash and adjusted. Have spark, compression, and fuel. Keeps backfiring through the carb. Any suggestions? Greatly appreciate it!
ok I was trying to clean out carburetor the non half ass way and did ok other than while removing spring from top it popped off wherever it hooks up to at other end and I have no clue where it goes. I hope you know what im talking about im not a mechanic type but have been doing pretty well with your video.
Im looking at a set of 2 non running clubcars for sale by a Gov agency. Both gas in a lot of two for $600 right now. I have no idea what to look for and inspect and if its an easy fix
PLEASE NOTE: no carb cleaner on the bowl gasket. If you do you ll have to bake it in the oven to shrink it..400 degress 20 minutes and keep flipping it so it doesnt stick
If the gaskets are in good shape, there's no need to replace the gaskets. If you are installing a new carb, this would be the time to replace the gaskets. There are gaskets between every mating surface.
Hi Kevin, I'm all the way down here in New Zealand. I have an old Yamaha petrol cart. I take it for a run for about 30 mins and it ends up stopping and won't fire again . Pull the spark plug out and it black and dry. I clean it up and put it back in and it does the same thing again. Is it getting to much fuel or something?. I have taken carburetor apart and cleaned everything and put it back. Do u need a hotter plug ?? Or what do u recommend I do . Cheers
Depending on the year, it could be a failing CDI and/or ignition coil. If it was getting too much gas, the plug would be wet. I would pull the fuel line off the carb when it stops running and see if its still pumping. If thats good, pull the plug, stick it in the plug wire and crank it over to see if you still have spark. If not, then its the coil or CDI. If it still has spark, you may need to do a compression test. It sounds electrical so start there.
Hi Kevin can I ask a question regards the drive clutch on a 1992 club car ? People say you can use the later 1997 clutch even though the engine rotations are different is this the case only i’am finding it difficult to find a 92 clutch thanks in advance !!!
I don't believe the the engine rotation direction has anything to do with how the clutch works. These clutches work based on rotation speed. As far as the part numbers, 1018339-04 is for 88+ and 1018339-02 is 97-2015. I have not tried using one or the other on older models. I haven't changed many Club Car clutches since they usually wear out before they fail.
Hey Kevin I have a 2006 club car xrt 810 and my low oil light keeps going on and off. I have the oil level to the full mark on the dipstick and it still does it. Could you give me some ideas on what it might be.
Great videos!!...have watch multiple ones of yours. I have Ezgo Textron 1990 gas cart. . Was running while wet out through few small puddles in driveway. Engine acted wierd almost like out of fuel. Tank was out or very very low so added fuel. Would turn over great but no start. Verified spark was good with new plug. Took all air intake filter and hose off. Cart is cranking over great but no start. Pulled Fuel line and getting good flow all the way to carb inlet. You mentioned you could half it and just take carburetor bowl off. I did that and looked clean. Can you spray carb clean up in carb from bowl side without taking carb all the way off? Never have really got that far in. You also said you see solenoid issues at times....what should I look for on that? Any other ideas I would love to hear. Thanks
I would completely remove and clean the entire carb. Sometimes debris can get caught in the tiny passages causing issues. Usually if you drop the bowl and it has water in it, you can get away with cleaning just it. Generally, you should clean the entire thing to be sure there isn't more debris. Solenoids usually will fail and not work. Sometimes they can click but nothing else happens. You can test that with a volt meter. When the solenoid clicks, you test for 12V on both sides of the large terminals. One side should have constant 12v and the other should only have power when energized.
Just seeing your reply this evening after doing more work today. I am not hearing any clicking in solenoid but did clean all contacts. I did check the coil with meter and its showing 4.5 ohms so I believe I am good there. (Acceptable Range 3.7 to 5.2 ohms). I pulled just the bowl on carb yesterday but it looked pretty clean. Replaced and still turning over good but no start. Uncharted territory to pull carb apart and clean but I did to follow your video and go ahead and pull the carb this afternoon. Ran out of cleaner so will finish tomorrow and replace carb. If this doesn't work I plan to start trouble shooting again from the beginning as I must have missed something. As I continue to review what I may have missed...If the spark plug is not correct would the cart run rough or just not run at all? This cart has a Robin Engine model EC25-3PG 244cc. After more research I am seeing online the plug is NGK BP5HS also a 4 or 6 could work. Not sure if you would know if that's correct #? I'm interested in any ideas you think I should try. I'll keep you posted on what happens on the carb cleaning tomorrow. Thanks
@@jackzu6483 Ok, so you are running the single cylinder 2-stroke Robin engine. If you have spark, good fuel flow, get yourself a compression tester. I have links to them in the description. I think you can rent them from AutoZone if you don't want to buy one. Check compression and it needs to be higher than 110psi. 125psi+ is better, ideal is 150psi or higher. Those engines are known for blowing the crankshaft oil seal behind the fan, especially if over-revved. If the seal is blown out, the engine will not be able run its 2-cycles properly. As for the spark plug, BP5HS is fine to run in that engine. There are 4 things you need for any internal combustion engine, air, fuel spark and compression. If any one of those 4 is missing, it wont run.
Ok took carb apart and cleaned exactly step by step and reinstalled. Again great crank over but no start. I do exhaust as it turns over and exhaust warms pipe but no start. I couple of small back fire spits... that's it. I noticed turning over in reverse it seems to have more of a rattle noise and still no start. My next step is to get compression tester to see if I have the blown seal you talked about. If it ends up that the crank case seal I'm interested in replacing or is that crazy talk. I have tore into a motor but I am mechanical/technical oriented. Thoughts/suggestions? Do you have a video I should watch of yours on this. Really appreciate your help. Thanks
I have never seen someone clean and service a carburetor over the piece of equipment. A bench with a clean work space and proper lighting works well. Especially when you drop a small part.
Hi Kevin, I’m experiencing a problem with my club Car carryall, it has the FE400d wife brought it to the backyard after using it all day, went out to start it after a few hours and crank no start. It has fuel and spark, pulled the plug and changed it just in case of weak spark, dripped fuel in the cylinder before putting in the new one, didnt fire, the carburetor is Garand new as well as both filters, I pulled the carburetor bowl no trash in bowl. I’m thinking it’s a weak spark, coil maybe? Any ideas?
Hi Kevin! Awesome videos! I would like to inquire about hd valve springs for fe350 and 290. What should I get and where can I purchase them? Your answer would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
I haven't seen any hd valve springs available for these engines. I don't deal with modifying these engines as the cost is nearly equal to a "big block" upgrade.
Hi Kevin Like your video's I have a 92 club car gas , I had the micro switch go out and replaced it cart turns over but will not start and the overflow at the carb bowl pumping gas out ,I am going to take carb off and clean it check float and so on , Do you think it could be anything else?
@@Kevinsgolfcarts Thanks for the reply Kevin ,Fuel lines are new with filters I check for spark and no spark so I change plug still no spark so I am thinking of rpm limiter and or ignitor . Just hoping its not the coil to much to get to that , also I can't fine a video on body remove on this 92 also I did r&r carb and cleaned it all out everything looked good no dirt or water in bowl float works good
You can disconnect and bypass the rev limiter. if you still have no spark after that then you will need a coil or CDI. I think the 1992 has separate ignition coil and CDI. The CDI is a tiny silver box next to the rev limiter. If its not there, then its part of the coil.
The "best" place is relative. I buy all of my parts from Red Hawk and Nivel Parts (I'm a dealer for both but I don't sell online anymore). You can try buggiesunlimited or everythingcarts.
@@thebunkerhillboys Well, that's a little different. Most of these pulse style pumps are made in China. There are a few made in the USA. Buggies Unlimited and Everything Carts (as far as I know) gets their stuff from the same places I do so the pumps are pretty reliable. I have only had a couple that were DOA or fail shortly after installation.
The float valve is stuck open. The rubber tip has swelled from water or carburetor cleaner. Take it apart and let it air dry before putting it back together. I've had this happen a few times.
Make sure there is no water in the gas. Water will cause the rubber float valve to swell and stick open slightly. I would search your area for ethanol free gasoline and use that. You will have to pull the carb, clean it and allow it to completely air dry before reassembling it.
I'm having a problem with as soon as I turn the key on it cranks and I have replaced all micro switches. I'm also getting no spark with brand new coil. HELP
There may be a leak in one of the fuel lines. If its a new pump, it will need to be primed before it will pump. You can do this by carefully pressurizing the gas tank with an air compressor. You only need enough pressure to help push fuel into the fuel lines. Be sure to disconnect the fuel line from the carb first. Also check inside the gas tank and make sure the siphon tube is still connected. Sometimes these fall into the tank or get loose where it connects to the petcock at the top of the tank.
Not one video covers spitting and sputtering at low speed; not picking on you but all the cart videos got to do with not starting or wont keep running...This is not the issue my cart starts runs but at low speed it pops or bucks. spits or backfires...G14 all kinds of bs on the g29 just venting lollol ty.
This is usually related to fuel delivery. Clean the carb and see if it recovers. The carb may be blocked internally on the idle circuit and needs to be replaced if you cannot clear it.
go to ypur local air port gte 105 octane aviation fuel run it at least 50 percent, and u wont get water in ur bowel , i do it to all my small engines, works good, hell most of my push mowers and my garden tractor, thats all i run in them
Ryan CHRISTOPHER I wouldn’t. It’s not 105 octane, it’s 100 octane low lead. Leaded fuel isn’t good for anything including the environment and your engine. If we had a good unleaded alternative for airplanes we’d run it in a heartbeat. It’s also illegal. I’d recommend going to pure-gas.org and find some ethanol free gas instead.

Ill see what I can find out. Let me know video title if you have one on this bigger job. Thanks for the help so far
Thanks
Must you prime a new carburetor on a 2 cycle 77 Harley Davidson golf cart in order for it to start pumping gas from gas tank?
I've found that works best. Those use a Tillitson pump pump/carb combo.
Is this an FE290 carb?
Any ideas?
Try unhooking the air filter see if that helps.sometimes the filter is so clogged it won't start.

@@Kevinsgolfcarts ahh i see. Thanks for your time. Happy Easter 🐣
Hi Kevin Like your video's I have a 92 club car gas , I had the micro switch go out and replaced it cart turns over but will not start and the overflow at the carb bowl pumping gas out ,I am going to take carb off and clean it check float and so on , Do you think it could be anything else?
I would change the fuel lines if they are stiff. Use ethanol-free gas if you have access to it. Its way better for these small engines.
Where is the BEST place to get replacement Fuel Pump and other parts ?
The "best" place is relative. I buy all of my parts from Red Hawk and Nivel Parts (I'm a dealer for both but I don't sell online anymore). You can try buggiesunlimited or everythingcarts.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts I should have said reliable I just want to know it’s not complete junk I’m buying lol THANKS!!!
Good video.
Wondering why/how a 99 Club Car has an 85 and back EZ-GO F&R shift lever on it.
After cleaning my carburetor. I now have gas coming out of the overflow when I let of the gas pedal. Any ideas?
The float valve is stuck open. The rubber tip has swelled from water or carburetor cleaner. Take it apart and let it air dry before putting it back together. I've had this happen a few times.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts thanks for the reply
Hey mine's flooding itself out. Even preset new carb. What can I do?
Make sure there is no water in the gas. Water will cause the rubber float valve to swell and stick open slightly. I would search your area for ethanol free gasoline and use that. You will have to pull the carb, clean it and allow it to completely air dry before reassembling it.
What is the spray stuff that your using?
Carb cleaner
I'm having a problem with as soon as I turn the key on it cranks and I have replaced all micro switches. I'm also getting no spark with brand new coil. HELP
Try unplugging the rev limiter
wherte you located
Why does it have two fuel filters?
To filter the fuel
Great. Video as always.
Awesome thanks
No problem!
Nice video.
I put a new pump on and it's still not pumping gas to the carb
There may be a leak in one of the fuel lines. If its a new pump, it will need to be primed before it will pump. You can do this by carefully pressurizing the gas tank with an air compressor. You only need enough pressure to help push fuel into the fuel lines. Be sure to disconnect the fuel line from the carb first. Also check inside the gas tank and make sure the siphon tube is still connected. Sometimes these fall into the tank or get loose where it connects to the petcock at the top of the tank.
No compression, have the lifters checked.
What's the concern with the govener cranked up?
I'm wondering about this too
👏👏👏
Show the service mode!!
go to ypur local air port gte 105 octane aviation fuel run it at least 50 percent, and u wont get water in ur bowel , i do it to all my small engines, works good, hell most of my push mowers and my garden tractor, thats all i run in them
Ryan CHRISTOPHER I wouldn’t.
